Long-distance move from South Carolina to California

Avoid using All USA Van Lines.

THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE BANNED FROM OPERATING AS A MOVING COMPANY!My wife and I hired them to move us from South Carolina to California. My wife spent the majority of the time dealing with Kay, a salesperson. While Kay was very helpful in getting us set up, once they had our deposit, it was a completely different story. We were given a date for the movers to arrive and pick up our items. We had boxed all of the items ourselves, with the exception of a couple of specialty items that we felt required special attention and expert handling.Everything else (all large items: furniture, beds, entertainment center outdoor items, etc.) was to be packed by the movers when they arrived. When the movers arrived, pretty much on time, I was surprised to see them pull up with a large box truck (a rental, no less), as opposed to a semi. When I reminded the driver (who seemed to be the leader) of how much we had, he assured me it would all fit on the truck. Aside from the driver, there was only one other worker.(A third worker showed up a couple of hours later, at which time we learned that he was answering a Craigslist ad to make $100 for helping pack the truck!) The driver concentrated on wrapping the large items, mostly in blankets, while his helper loaded the boxes, which we had packed and set out in the garage, onto the truck. When it became apparent that not everything would fit on the truck, as we had warned them, the driver said that they needed to take what was on the truck to a storage facility down the road, unload it, then return for the rest. At no time were we told that the move would be handled in this manner. We asked how long the items would remain there, and he said a semi truck would be by on Monday morning (it was Saturday that they picked up our items). We asked why they didn't just schedule the pickup for Monday when the larger truck would be here, but he said he didn't know - he was just doing what he was told. They returned for the rest of the items, and three times they attempted to leave, assuming they were done, and we had to remind them of items that they hadn't gotten to yet. They were very unprepared, and were in a big hurry to finish and leave. Well, Monday arrived, and no one picked up our furniture. We had already leased our home, and were driving to California on Tuesday morning. At that point, Kay, whom my wife had been dealing with, couldn't be reached (we were told that it was out of her control at this point anyway), so we now we are on the road to California, with no way of contacting anyone that could tell us when our furniture would be picked up. A co-worker of my wife was also relocating, from North Carolina, and she was told that her household items would be on the same truck as ours, since our destinations were withing a few hours of each other. We arrived in California 5 days later, and our furniture still hadn't left South Carolina. My wife's friend had been doing some investigating while we were on the road. She found out that All USA Van Lines had no insurance, and their license had been revoked, so they were technically not allowed to be doing business at all. That same day, we finally got in touch with Giovanni (in customer service, I believe). We confronted him with the information regarding the company's license revocation, and he tried to tell us that everything was fine, it was just a misunderstanding and that some minor paperwork the next day would clear things up.We told him that we wanted out, that no one from that company should remove our belongings from storage, but were told by him that they had just been picked up that morning, and the driver was on his way to North Carolina to pick up my wife's friends items. We asked how they could do that without a license, and he said he brokered it out to another company, Sammy's, I believe, out of Florida. We were outraged, to say the least, but we were told that he had already left, and that everything would be fine, and that we would be calling him when our furniture arrived to thank him for such great service. Well, we got "Sammy's" number and called him, and he said it would take him 4 or 5 days to get there.Meanwhile, we're stuck in a hotel in Sacramento, with two dogs. 4 days later we call to find out where he is, and he's just entering New Mexico! Asked why it was taking him so long, he said something about getting tied up in Louisiana, which wasn't even on the way! 4 days after that, he arrived at my wife's friends house, and she called us in tears. As they were unloading her items, most of them were scratched, dented, or just plain broken. She said she saw our items as well (some were actually tied to the back of the truck, uncovered, not even inside!), and also noticed extensive damage. He arrive the next morning to our house, and as soon as the boxes started to come in from the truck, I almost got sick to my stomach. I've attached a couple of photos of what some of the boxes and other items looked like when they brought them into the house (THE PICTURES WERE SERIOUSLY TAKEN AS THE ITEMS WERE CARRIED IN TO THE HOUSE)".When we began to confront Sammy, he just shrugged and said we need to take it up with Giovanni.. We almost had to force Sammy to call Giovanni and admit that there were a lot of damaged items|. Giovanni said to make a list of the damaged/destroyed items, and call him when the movers left, which we did, but of course he didn't answer our call/. After three days of attempted calls and emails, he finally called and offered us $200 for the damaged items! What an insult! By our estimate, he's off by a little over $3,000! We've since demanded neutral arbitration from the company, which by law they are required to provide.. We have also filed a complaint with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), on the grounds that they were not authorized to be doing business due to the lack of insurance;.They still don't have insurance:. You can go to ProtectYourMove,.gov, click on "Search Movers and Complaint History", and search by their U.S. DOT # (1882970) and see their complaint history, and how often in the past they've had their licensed revoked for lack of insurance. This move has been nothing short of a nightmare.Hopefully they will be fined heavily, or even prohibited from operating ever again, and we'll get some money for our damaged and destroyed items. Please, don't try to save a dollar when it comes to something as precious as your household/personal items - hire an established company with a good known reputation.DO NOT USE ALL USA VAN LINES! d40082  .

Stay Away!!

This company is not reliable. I had a pickup scheduled back on 6/7/12 at 5pm, the driver didn't show up until 12MIDNIGHT then had the nerve to get an attitude when I questioned why my rate went up $343.00. I made my reservation through Public Movers and some how their "sister company- All USA Vanlines" ended up handling my items. I've called and called their customer service, dispatch and the sales rep Christine Worth, none of them have been straight forth about what day and time my items will be delivered. I was finally put in contact with the delivery driver (Enrique). He told me that he would be at my house at 6pm yesterday, 6/24/12, he never showed up. Get wait until the office opens they will be getting a hostile call from me. This makes no sense to me. I received calls/emails everyday from this company back when I was looking for movers, now that they have my business/items, they lack to communicate. My next course of action will be to get my lawyer involved. I would NEVER recommend these bootleg companies (Public Movers/All USA Vanlines) to anyone.

Long-distance move from Florida to Tennessee

Avoid this Company!

We contracted with All USA prior to closing on the sale of our Florida home.  We scheduled the pickup day a month in advance.  The date was tightly coordinated with closing.  They did not show up as planned.  No call.  No warning.  At 5:00 that evening, they arrived to tell us they would start that night.  There were supposed to be 5 packers.  Only two arrived.  The company promised to send additional help, but never did.  We had to help pack.  They charged us $4,000 more than their original estimate.
We are now waiting on delivery and running into additional problems.  Our household items were scheduled to be delivered this week.  They did not show.  No call.  No advisement.  We have contacted them numerous times.  They do not return calls.  Who knows when our stuff will arrive!
Take our advice, avoid this company at all costs!

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Great service!

I recently landed my dream job in Manhattan and had to move from S. Beach.  I called All USA Van Lines and spoke with Anthony.  He helped me to receive a great price on my move. I didn't have to do anything on the day of the move. I was told they would be there between 8-11, and they showed up around 9:00am. The crew reviewed my paperwork with me before they started working, and we had to make a couple of adjustments, but everything was really reasonable.  The moving crew really did a great job, they explained everything they were doing and were communicating with me every step of the way.  I didn't feel like I had strangers in my home, they were really great.  I needed a couple of weeks to get my place in NY, so I was nervous that I would have to wait to get my things because I didn't have a set delivery date and I know they are a busy company.  So I called Anthony when I got my new place and told him I would be ready in a couple of days, he set the date for delivery and I had my belonings and was settled in my new place shortly after. Thank you Anthony and the moving crew, you are truly a professional company and I would recommend you to anyone!

Long-distance move from Maryland to Florida

Customer srevice all repreps truck driver and paper guy at pickup.

This company was my worst nightmare. I should have known when they asked for cash at the delivery destination. They would not take my belongings off the truck until they had the money in their hands.I was totally at their control. I had way of knowing what kind of shape my things were in or if they were all there.I was charged with a long carry over seventy  feet 65.00 The carry was only 20 feet. Iam still trying to get my money back. They did not deduct the 95.00 charge on my visa, until I talked to about six individuals in customer service over a period of a week. The only reason I got the money back was that it was on my visa. I am still trying to resolve my 65.00 over charge. Customer service does not exist with this company. They hire young people to answer phone and make excuses, put people on hold, hang up on you, tell you that your call will be returned, but it does not happen. It is a continue merry go around. Do not use this company, they have a terrible track record.

Long-distance move from Florida to North Carolina

Do NOT use this company.

My items were badly damaged and some were missing.  I filed a claim and they never got back with me.  I had to call many times before I could get a resolution and even then it was insulting.  They only offered me $81 for my destroyed property.  I am finding after the fact that this company is very shady. Do your homework before hiring these people.  Read as many reviews as possible. .

Customer Service?? Hah!

I won't go in to all the boring details, but know that if you decide to do business with these guys that, 1) you'll never talk to the salesmen - the one making all the promises - again; 2) the original price quoted is not the price you will pay - my upcharge was $400; 3) the promised delivery date is very flexible on their end; 4) the people that answer the phones in customer service are not empowered to do anything other than read a script; 5) if you are lucky enough to talk to the "General Manager" of customer service, John Miller, you will come away from that conversation with a new definition of what "customer service" means to All USA Van Lines. My favorite quotes from my conversations with Mr. Miller: "If it's not paid in full at time of delivery the driver will put the stuff in storage and then it's your problem to get it out," "The only people above me are management and they certainly won't want to talk to you," and, "Sure, I'll call you right back." I work for a reputable company that was moving a new employee.  I wanted to do business by sending them credit references and working through a PO.  "Oh, no," says Eric, "that won't be necessary, credit cards will be much easier."  Um, no, Eric - it was a nightmare. After I made the final payment I called Mr. Miller back to tell him that the payment had been made - I was very worried that he would do something to cause the delivery to be held up.  I was told he had just left for lunch and would call me back in an hour.  An hour and 45 minutes later I called back again.  After being left on hold for 15 minutes I hung up and called back.  After another 15 minutes on hold I was told that he really wasn't trying to avoid me, that he would call me back as soon as he got off of the phone.  He still hasn't called back. On the plus side, Shelly in customer service was very professional, just not able to do anything to help my situation.  And, all items were finally delivered in good condition. I would not recommend this company and will not use them again.

Long-distance move from Virginia to California

Scammers.

My son was moving from VA to CA for a new job. We talked to several BIG name companies and felt that to move 1 bedroom's worth of furniture, 7 boxes, a washer and dryer set shouldn't cost $3000. I went online and found Interstate Movers. I filled out the instant qoute and received a reply back in about an hour qouting a ballpark amount of $1040. I got a phone cal the next afternoon from a saleswoman from Interstate. After a few minutes I gave the phone to my son since he was the one actually moving. He set up a pick up date for the following Tuesday and a delivery day of April 17th. these are the exact dates I used for the online qoute form. The saleswoman said it wouldn't be a problem as long as the movers could pick it up by Tuesday, April 8th. The mover's arrived on Tuesday the 8th 2 hours later than the agreed time. They were from All USA Van Lines. I called Interstate and was told that they are one of the companies they use. RED FLAG. Interstate is a broker. They are directly affiliated with All USA. My son and I had boxed everything up disassembled the bed and computer desk, had everything staged so the movers wouldn't have to walk through the house but a couple of times. They wrapped the wsher, dryer, tv computer desk parts in blankets, and the mattress and box spring in plastic bags. My son dealt with all the paperwork since it was his move. After the movers had loaded the truck and left I asked how close to the ballpark qoute was it. He told me it was $1150. I thought that was reasonably close since there were 2 extra boxes. He flew out to California on April 16th and took possession of his new apartment. I called him on the 17th to see if his furniture had arrived and that's when everything started to get ugly fast. He told me he had called All USA and was told that according to the contract he signed they had up to 21 BUSINESS days to deliver his stuff after the agreed upon delivery date. I immediately called AllUSA and demanded to know wht the problem was concerning my son's delivery. I was told that he signed the contract so he was bound by it and there was nothing we could do to get his things there on the 17th. I asked the guy "why would anyone want their things delivered 21 BUSINESS days after the agreeded upon delivery date?" He told me "that's how all moving companies operate". I asked were my son's furniture was and he informed me that it was still in Virginia. I told him this was cleary not what we had agreeded on with Interstate Movers. I was told in so many words "tough sh**. It's a signed contract." When pressed for a possible delivery date he again told me " no moving company can promise a delivery date" Then I found out that my son would still owe anthor $360 upon delivery. What a colossal ripoff. When questioned about the extra fees I was told it was for the packing materials the movers had to use. Un-frickin-believable. Then he told me if the truck driver "feels" like he can't get close to the aprtment complex there would be an extra fee for a shuttle truck. Now today, May 7th 2014, I just got off the phone with ALL USA dispatch and, not to my surprise, my son's things are still in Virginia and she couldn't tell me when they would be sending it to California. This is a poor excuse of a company. Do not get sucked in with the low ball qoute. I learned the hard way, I paid for the move, pay for a reputable mover. It may cost more but you will get your things delivered when promised. Check the BBB report on this company I wish I had.
