Local move from Columbia, MD to Ellicott City, MD

Poor Service & Damage.

We had an absolutely awful experience hiring All My Son's Moving based in Halethorpe, MD. They did not come with the furniture padding, they didn't care about staining our carpets, and worse of all damaged our furniture, broke our mirror, didn't install furniture I was told was going to be installed and damaged so many of our walls when taking out stuff and putting stuff into the new home. It was a terrible experience and what's worse, is that after writing to the company over two months ago, they have come back requesting further info but still not with any adequate response. Think twice before using this company. This company provided three movers who did not care about our furniture, nor the outcome or the damage they did to our property and carpets. Especially in this current pandemic this is the worse company to go with. They have left us stranded not being able to use two large wardrobes, they have lost parts required to re-assemble the wardrobes appropriately and we highly depend on those wardrobes for storage. This is NOT the company you want to do your move.

Worst Experience Ever.

I hired All My Sons Movers located in Cranston Rhode Island in April 2020. Although I reserved time over 2 weeks in advance, they were late. 11am move became 3pm. Movers arrived, complained about job that it is a 3 man job, and walked out without notifying me.

New crew sent out while I waited 2 more hours and they charged me 200% more than quotation, destroyed my bed.

Their customer service is incredibly poor. I felt robbed. I plan to sue.

Long-distance move from Texas to Arizona

Rough Interstate Move with AMS.

Our introduction to AMS was great. Welcoming and timely meeting and estimate. Moving from Texas to Arizons. At move time, we were informed they underestimated our weight by 2000lbs (20%) so could not load all into 1 truck. We would have to wait for another truck going west, or come up with another solution for the remainder of our goods..during COVID. 4 weeks later, no truck coming west, so AMS suggested they arrange a trusted 3rd party mover for the remainder. OK. 3rd party arrived 3 days later then estimated, with no contact to inform us. When seeking status from AMS (who hired them) I was told to call them myself cause AMS (who hired them) didn't have control over them. Our shipment arrived with the worst packing I've ever seen, just thrown into the truck. Damaged and broken goods. AMS did reimburse us for these goods..5 weeks later.

Stay Away.

STAY AWAY. Horrible experience. They cam out gave a quote which I thought was reasonable. On move day they jacked the price up by $1100 and held my belongs hostage until I paid. They said they would have there trucks leave if I didn’t pay. Be Very skeptical of the “non binding estimate”. This is how they get you business.I also had altercations with the crew stemming from this issue as well as being disrespectful. Bottom line STAY AWAY.

Update: I was sent an offer for a partial refund and was asked to sign a document stating our case was closed. I did not receive the refund in the allotted 7-10 business days. I was told they had a check printing issue and it would be 2 day aired to me. Check never showed up and Ken Stone will not return any of my emails. So again this company is disputable and unethical top to bottom. STAY AWAY.

Hostage negotiations and move abandonment

RUN from this company if you get a quote. The quote will double or triple, and if you downsize your move to compensate, they will abandon the move and keep your deposit. For me, they cited COVID concerns, even though their movers asked to not wear masks when they arrived. And once they leave you high and dry, they will keep your deposit, citing cancellation policies never previously mentioned (and even though YOU didn't cancel, and even though YOU never signed anything).

I went with a different company after All My Sons abandoned stranded me, one that did not require a deposit, one that moved everything in an hour and half and for less than the original quote from AMS.

AMS has made it clear I will never get my deposit back, even though they are the ones who abandoned my move for obviously false reasons.

And looking around at Yelp, Consumer Reports and the BBB, this is a trend with them.

Local move from Tucker, GA to Hampton, GA

Unanswered dissatisfaction

This is a letter I wrote to the company and never as much received a confirmation they received it.

I can not begin to tell you how disappointed, frustrated, and unhappy I am with how my move was handled and its cost. I am going to list all of the things that I believe went wrong and I intend to post this same letter on any website that accepts reviews of moving companies, and to the BBB.

1 - Never ever would I have paid almost $3K to move from my apartment in Tucker to my house in Hampton. My original quote over the phone was for $1200, which I knew was unreasonable because I knew packing the truck would take longer than usual. I estimated about 7 hours. The quote was given to me via phone without someone actually looking at my apartment. I was given a quote from another company who did come out, look at my things, averaged out the materials I would need and the time it would take and gave me a worst-case-scenario amount of less than $2K.

2 - The move took 14 hours. They arrived at 0930, looked at contents of apartment, went outside to discuss things, returned to the apartment and began wrapping and loading. They emptied the truck of all my possessions at 2300. At this time they still were not done. They left 80% of the boxes in one room without distributing them to the rooms labeled on the box tops. They left furniture still wrapped in shrink wrap. They did not assemble my bed completely as that night I got into it, the roller on the leg bent off leaving the top right side of the bed tilted. I paid you to move me. If I had not helped in packing and unpacking the time would’ve been longer, in fact should’ve been longer to complete the job. I shouldn’t have had to assist, especially at my age.

3 - I have moved 4 times in the past 4 years and have never witnessed such excessive wrapping. The amount of tape and shrink wrap and boxes used were far greater than I have ever seen any other company use. This took an excruciatingly long time. There was one person wrapping while one mover was taking boxes and wrapped furniture to the truck and the third mover was stacking the truck.

4 - The furniture wrapper turned my furniture upside down to wrap it. I had never seen this done before either. My drawers in different pieces of furniture always remained full, never spilled, and were wrapped and delivered right side up. This time the drawers had to be emptied so that the furniture could be flipped around to be wrapped. This took extra time.

5 - We did not leave the apartment until 1800-ish. For 9 hours I had no place to sit and rest. It was explained that I had to remain with the movers the entire time. For a woman my age to stand that long is unacceptable. And again, I had to assist in the packing and wrapping to expedite the process. (It could be construed that I should be compensated for my time and labor)

6 - Upon the truck arrival and unloading of boxes I noticed that I was missing some food. Several cans of pop and several cookies, that I know of. Not that this is unreasonable, but taking them without my consent does present a problem. I still am unable to find some of my things, but then again I haven’t gotten to the bottom of every box yet.

7 - One of the movers steadily became more and more ill during the day due to an allergy beyond his control. He was not performing at his top level of capability. It finally came to the point where he had to leave due to his medical condition and find medical help. This is totally understandable and unavoidable. This left only 2 people working to empty my apartment. I did mention to the office staff when I was getting a quote for my move that I did have cats. This information did not get passed on to the movers. Communication somehow broke down. Finally a third person showed up to help. During my observation this new mover did very little work compared to the one mover who was moving the furniture and packing the truck by himself.

8 - When I first spoke to the office people about my move I mentioned that my dining room set is antique and very precious to me. I wanted nothing to happen to it. When the movers arrived and were touring the apartment I told them about the dining set. I told them several more times about being extra careful with it. I am attaching pictures of the damage to my furniture. I am also sharing a picture of the dent made in the hall wall and my bed leg.

Not as good as the first time I used them

I used All My Sons in Raleigh to move a portion of my house into a storage unit and they did a great job in a minimum time, then I used them again to move from the storage unit where the stuff was all still packed up ready to be put into the truck and taken to my new home. This time it took almost twice as long and I noticed that as I tried to speed things us by staging items outside of the storage unit that I wanted to take the crew seemed to go about their tasks at a slower rate, my wife noticed this also, but all I did was line things up and keep the aisle clear so they could work better...but no they just got slower. The first move took fours hours for the actual work, the second moved took SEVEN hours for the same stuff plus 7 wardrobe boxes...don't think I will use them on the next move unless they can put a limit on the time.

Complete Rip Off

For starters, if you plan on using these guys, check reviews on Yelp & BBB first! You will save your money and belonging from damage. The quote I was given when I set the move up was a lie. They moved most of my stuff in 2 hrs, they left a lot in the apt. The three guys were on their phones non-stop and just sitting around. I walked up on them throwing my couch cushions from the 3rd floor to the ground..which is very wet! They didn't know I was walking up at the time. One guy said..."catch it, you did it before". I said, please don't throw my cushions down to him. one of the cushions has mud on it, it's very wet & dirty. I have no words for how awful this experience was.

When the final bill was given to me, my jaw dropped. 2 hrs at 150$ per hr is $300. I had to put a $100 deposit down and was assured by the lady who quoted me that those were the only charges. The first red flag/scam...when the movers arrived, the head guy told me it was $200 per hour, I told him that is not what I was quoted, so he called his boss (Mark) who then agreed to the $150 quoted.

At the end of the 2 hrs, I received the final bill which was $585!!! I called Mark immediately, because there was obviously a mistake. He informed me that there is a 2 hr minimum, and a 3rd hr added for travel. Bait & Switch....seriously, read reviews before hiring, because this seems to be how they operate. They rip people off.

I moved from one apartment to a different apartment in the same complex. They didn't put 1 thing in their truck...not 1. It was a quick walk, literally across the parking lot.

I have no idea how these people are still in business. Horrible way to treat your customers. You are unable to leave a review on their FB page, now I know why.

I can't stress enough to read reviews. Across the board, same thing I dealt with.

Local move from Baytown, TX to San Antonio, TX

All My Sons is beyond worthless. They are destructive.

Recently, we contracted with All My Sons to move us to San Antonio from the Houston area. The All My Sons project manager did a virtual tour of our home and gave us a price for the move.

Moving day came. Two men were assigned to pack the kitchen (including breakable pottery tableware) and a large china cabinet and closet containing fragile items, including two complete sets of china, two sets of crystal (some about 100 years old), and a number of other precious items. Another man was tasked with packing the bedrooms and bathrooms. The fourth man, the supervisor, loaded the truck as boxes were delivered to him. The packing and loading seemed to go well except that the kitchen and china movers were very slow. Otherwise, we observed no problems.

Unloading the next day in San Antonio was a different matter. The same men who loaded also unloaded our possessions. They worked very slowly after a 14-hour day of moving and driving overnight to the destination. My son made it clear that they needed to get moving. They got the furniture in the correct places and beds installed without problem. However, they unloaded and stacked boxes of kitchen pottery and glassware, china, and crystal three boxes high; we didn’t know what was in these boxes at the time because the descriptions were on the box tops. We had them rearrange many of the boxes but the damage to contents was already done in the moving truck and during unloading. Many delicate items were broken or damaged: Four crystal wine glasses at least one hundred years old were crushed; two clocks were ruined; multiple pottery and china items were irreparably damaged; irreplaceable decorative candle stick (tapers) sets and figurines were broken. Items were apparently thrown into boxes without packing paper or plastic bubble-wrap with no regard for their safety. A flatscreen television was destroyed by mishandling.

Even where items were not badly damaged, the quality of packing was terrible. Dozens of framed photographs and paintings were obviously dropped into boxes without any protective paper or bubble-wrap, taking no care whatsoever to prevent scratches or breakage. Figurines that were not delicate were simply tossed into boxes without regard for their safety. Computer-related electronic equipment was dropped haphazardly into boxes resulting in damage to a laser printer and a scanner.

Tools from my shop in the garage had been separated by me before the move into those that fit in my standing tool box and dozens of loose tools hanging on the walls of my shop. The tool box fared well. The loose tools from the shop walls were tossed into a four-foot-high wardrobe box, damaging several saws and other more delicate tools. A compound power chop saw weighing forty pounds was stacked on top of the rest of the tools and the box closed. The box weighed well over 150 pounds and was very difficult for me to move by myself. I had to cut out one full side of the box and watch tools cascade out of the box. Damage was common.

All My Sons has a damage policy that requires the damaged item and all original packaging. They pay 60 cents per pound of damaged property. My insurance carrier could have covered damage but the deductible was high. Regardless, the dollar value of irreplaceable items could not replace broken china and crystal glasses.

The two managers at the All My Sons office seemed not the least bit disturbed about the quality of the job. After the job, I was shuttled from one manager with no one taking any responsibility for the bad job All My Sons had done. We had little recourse but to accept our fate.

In short, protect your property and avoid All My Sons like the plague or Covid-19.

Mafia

They did show up on time. From there it went downhill. If you like hiring lawyers or maybe auto mechanics you'll love this company. We need 8 pieces of furniture moved from mothers house approximately 2 1/2 miles to an assisted living facility.. After they spend half an hour looking over the jobsite(thehouse) then getting their internet gadget working so we can sign, they start working at wrapping the few pieces of furniture we need moved. When they finally finish with the wrapping it looks like they must be going to drop them from an airplane rather than transport them in a truck. My wife was going to stay with mom and come to pay them before they finish. They were to follow me to the destination but they decide to stop at the store on the way and got lost. When they finally get there they say they can't unload until they're paid. That's right, they hold your furniture hostage. So I call my (furious) wife and she has to leave mom unattended and come over and pay them. She tried talking to their rep on the phone but he was so rude she got tired of arguing.. Over $860 dollars later ($96 for fuel,$120 for wrapping supplies,$120hr. labor) we finally get a few pieces of furniture moved 2 miles that a couple of guys with a pickup would have done for $100. Moral of the story is do your research. These people are not about customer service, rather, they are in it for all they can get out of you.
