Long-distance move from Montreal, QC to Edmonton, AB

Dr. Haynes

Please do not use these movers. They may appear to be giving you the best deal but it is a scam to get you to sign. They agreed to move my items from Montreal to Edmonton for a price, then once they got my shipment in their possession they increased the price on me. When I refused to pay, they held my items for a year at ransom. Then they turned my shipment over to another partner who threatened to sell my stuff if I did not pay. It was a total shake down. Had to take them to court to get my shipment back and lost much of my items due to bad storage conditions which includes broke crates and extensive damage caused by rats. Remember, you get what you pay for - I learned the hard way!

Do Not Use.

This company is a scam. They hold your things hostage and demand upfront payment. They quoted me $1600.00 for my move and once my belongings had left and we’re at their warehouse, they sent me an invoice for $5000 demanding immediate payment and backdating their invoice to before they picked up my belongings. I have contacted the police and they are investigating.

Relocation.

I moved from Alberta to Ontario at the beginning of the year and had called a couple van lines to get quotes, but right from the beginning Access Canada movers stood out - the woman that I talked to in the office were very friendly and immediately put all my fears about the moving process to rest. The people who came to load my items were quick and professional and the two young men who unloaded for me in Ontario were friendly and helpful - they stayed late to make sure all of my furniture was reassembled. Not a single item was lost or broken along the way!

Long-distance move from Ontario to Nova Scotia

Scam. Stay away.

One star is too high a rating. I have moved numerous times and this was the worst Moving company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The truck they sent to pick up my furniture was too small to pick up all my belongings. This became apparent at 12:30 Saturday morning and the driver could not get a hold of anyone to correct the problem. We finally got a hold of someone on Monday morning but they would not be able to pick up the rest of our furniture for 3 days. This was only the beginning. Once they had our furniture they would not deliver it until we paid the invoice in full. We ended up with broken chairs, tables and even though wrapped in bubble wrap smashed antique dishes. Tool boxes were broken into and numerous tools stolen to say nothing of my very expensive dolly that looked just like the one they used to unload.
This company is a scam that is just out to steal your money and once they have your possessions do not give a dam.

This is a consumer alert, stay away from Access Canada Movers they are a scam!!

Double Bill.

We contracted this company for a Toronto to BC move. Final weight was over by 400 pounds and we were told the shipment had to be paid in full before departure. Paid their invoice and waited 4 weeks for the call it had arrived. Then the driver who kept telling my daughter that he hated his job informed that there would be a $250 charge to go on the elevator to the 3rd floor.
In addition they charged her credit card for the identical amount I was originally charged so we got screwed for paying twice.

The dispute has been lodged with the credit card company and we will be credited for one of the charges but what a pain. Wish I had done more research into these criminals before allowing pick-up.

Long-distance move from Toronto, ON to Montreal, QC

Terrible administration.

Access Canada Movers responded to an enquiry I sent to a general website which provides quotes for movers. The phone response from Access Canada Movers was almost instantaneous. They quoted a low price and arranged a collection date on the spot. This seemed too easy – and it was.

When the invoice was emailed to me, it was for an amount higher than what I was quoted. I had to call and ask for this invoice to be revised to what I had been quoted when I booked.

The collection team arrived exactly on time and were efficient at packing. I give full credit to this team. My goods went into storage.

Within a few weeks I received an invoice for the full amount of the moving costs when my goods had not even been delivered. I responded to this email to query whether it should be paid once my goods were actually delivered but received no response to this email.

I contacted Access Canada Movers a few weeks later to ask when my goods had to be delivered and could they provide the weigh receipt for the volume of goods I was charged to store. Again, no response to this email.

I followed up again a week later and left a phone message. No response.

I then got another email from Access Canada Movers saying I now owed $100 more because my goods had been stored for longer than their initial storage period. I contacted them to try to arrange the delivery date and again, no response.

When I eventually got in contact with Access Canada Movers to have my goods delivered, they said they would revise my emails about the surcharge and booked a date for delivery of the goods. On the afternoon before my goods were delivered, while I was home sick and about to fly internationally for a medical appointment where I would be away for two weeks (and therefore needed the goods delivered before I left), I received a call from Access Canada Movers to say that notwithstanding the emails, they would not deliver any of my goods until I paid the extra amount. Pretty awful treatment really. The full amount was paid at that time by credit card.

At 6am the next morning, in the snow and rain, I stood for 30 mins while the delivery person sat in the cab of his truck verifying my payment. He was not able to verify the payment so took the ENTIRE payment again.

The delivery team moved all goods well and there was no damage to the property whatsoever.

My experience with the Access Canada Movers administration was so bad that the entire experience was awful and I paid almost double what was quoted to me. I would not recommend this provider. I have only positive feedback about the movers themselves.

My Move.

My friends had moved with Access Canada Movers and had no issue, When I was planning to move they gave me a number to get in touch with Marc who was their sales agent. I gave him a call to see what the price would be to move from Vancouver to Toronto. After discussing what I was moving, he gave me a great price. When the movers showed up they were very polite and respectful towards me. Even their customer service reps were great, any question I had they were giving me answers. When they got to my home in Toronto their local drivers were Wonderful. I had no issue with my move, If in the near future I decide to move again I will be contacting Marc again.

Long-distance move from Halifax, NS to Medicine Hat, AB

Nova scotia to Alberta.

My daughter had a very small move and we knew all about shady movers so we actually weighed the shipment ahead of time. headboard, rails, mattress , box spring , dresser and 2 boxes. the boxes weighed 35 and 45 lbs. total less than 300 lbs. I advised we had 500 lbs and was quoted $600. we paid the $200 deposit and moved all the items into the garage so we wouldn't get a "stair" charge. they picked up and left with the stuff as scheduled. A week or so later we recieved the final invoice for over $900 more including a $100 long carry charge as they didn't back the truck in the driveway but left it on the street. they advised they had scaled the load at over 900 lbs. I of course called the office and got no sympathy at all even when I explained I knew exactly what the weight was because I had weighed it. They are very good at explaining why you are wrong and offering to have the load rescaled for hundreds of dollars in additional costs. It was a cheap bedroom set and easily replaced and I would have let them keep the whole load except there were some things in the boxes that were important to my kid. In the end they deducted $200 from the bill and we paid the additional charges of over $300. They are professionals at what they do and will hold your items hostage until you pay them. Office staff is well trained at spewing reasons why you are wrong and too bad for you, pay up or we'll start charging you storage.
Notice they do not have an address on the website and the address on the invoice doesn't exist. So they will move your stuff but you better be prepared to pay way more than the quote and endure some grief.

Horrible Company.

Do not waste your time with this company what so ever.. The only thing they are good at is giving you a quote.
The guys who showed up to pickup my stuff were not in any type of uniform dirty clothing and a rental truck. Company waited until I called to ask where my stuff was as it was already 4 weeks late to then start shipping it.. 7 weeks later stuff has now been confirmed to being delivered soon but how truthful that is I have no idea.

The phone calls I have had with this company went from Stuff in Transit, Stuff stuck in a train delay, Not even in transit not sure where your stuff is, Oh we have not even started to ship your items yet.

You get nothing but a complete run around, The Shipping manager acts as if she owns the company but after looking at BBB website clearly she just lies to avoid getting into more trouble.

Horrendous Movers, Stay Away!! my Star Rating is a Zero!

Each and every box is water damaged. Either their storage facilities or their owner operator trailers leak, but every stitch of furniture is either water damaged or chipped and every box is water damaged. Just unpacked a box of signed Harry Potter novels and by sheer luck they are undamaged but the reading copies are so wet the pages are falling out. They snapped a solid metal lamp base that is for my tiffany lamp, a base that weighs 25 pounds. They tuck taped the box back together but the snapped piece is missing. Looks like they backed over it with a fork lift. My dry goods for the kitchen are all wet and moldy, I have to toss all the food I packed up from my kitchen. Every box is filthy and all my clothing arrived completely soaked and soiled. I have to wash and dry clean everything, even though it was boxed and clearly labeled. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS. They held me for ransom, insisting that they would not deliver my goods unless I paid in advance. Now I know why. They knew they had destroyed the shipment of goods. They could not prove the weight of the truck with my goods on it, sending me an invoice from the wrong weigh scale as 'proof" and the weight was way off of what a 24 ft straight truck loaded should weigh. They lie through their teeth and as other reviews have said, their customer service is a joke.

Theresa.

Consumers beware, this company is not a good.. Just the opposite, they quote you a very reasonable, competitive rate and then send an invoice once your furniture is in their warehouse and charge you double what you were quoted. The 'manager' is a very rude, belligerent woman who literally threatens you with no delivery of your furniture until the invoice is paid in full. She was polite enough at the beginning of the call, but as soon as I questioned the total weight of the move as it was double what our estimate was, she became very irate and began screaming and threatening me by making it clear that my furniture was being held hostage and would not leave the warehouse until the invoice was paid in full immediately. Warning to Consumers: DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND THIEVES.

Terrible.

Beware beware beware! This company advertises great service, competitive pricing and professionalism. However none of this held true for what I would consider a very simple move. At a time when most people moving are vulnerable to deadlines set by lawyers and real estate agents this company absolutely drops the ball. Do not use them if you have to get your belongings to a place on time, or in our case, at all. Mark took $100 deposit and promised to deliver our family furniture to an address in southern Ontario. Simple pick up and delivery, no packing required. After many confirmations everything was on track, they stopped communicating. The day before the move date we called and emailed their emergency line. No response from them. They did respond on the gauranteed date of pickup to advise their truck broke down. I question the validity of that, based on other reviews.
The hundred dollar deposit we gave is likely their main source of revenue, given how poorly they are at customer service and their equipment issues. Shame, shame shame!

Things I Wish I was told!!

The staff that loaded and unloaded were friendly and treated my possessions with respect. All good!
The office staff was Not helpful in giving direction to estimating weight of move. For example; there Sb directions on what is overly heavy.. old dining room set = 1000 lbs. Well made couch and 2 wing back chairs = 1000 lbs, hand held electric tools with chest of tools = 1000 lbs. So my estimate of 2000 lbs was not even close!
Also, they do NOT like small bags and boxes even if they're heavy. Larger is better.. it goes on a dolly . OTHERWISE they will sell you large wardrobe boxes and pack those with the small stuff .

Access theif liers.

I had to search this company. And believe me every reviews is exactly what am going through. These people of acccess Canada movers are heartless. Krystal the manager is rude, very disrespectful. So August 1,2018 they picked up my furniture from Toronto to Calgary. Mark took a 100 deposit before they can pick up my things. Never heard back from that idiot. They told me 15 to 20 days to arrive at my destination, now is a month and 2weeks. Every day Krystal is telling me this weekend they will deliver my things or next weekend, if is not in Edmonton is on the way to Calgary. Lies lies lies. But when I mention to her how they have frustrated me, she tells me she don’t care, there’s nothing she can do about the delay. Last week she told me Tuesday now is Saturday, that I have to pay $1200 before they can schedule to deliver my things. These people are theif, unprofessional and heartless. My advice before any person decide to put their belongings into any movers hand make sure you get proper information before putting your things in theses company’s hand or you will end up regretting. I trusted them with my things and this the service I get. Fool me once you won’t Fool me twice.

Company Takes a Deposit And Service is Non Existant.

I booked a small move from Victoria to Calgary. Marc was more than happy to take a deposit but couldn't confirm a pick up date. He said the "Someone" would contact me the day before but I wanted the number of the mover in Victoria so I could arrange elevator book offs etc. He said he doesn't give out his Movers numbers and that I was to wait? What Company does that if not hiding something?A simple contact is required to schedule a move..isn't it? Took my deposit. Doesn't even use own Trucks/Men. Stay clear of this Company.

Dishonesty.

It was my experience with them:

1st- Up to the point that I was paying them they were responding almost right away.

2nd- Meanwhile we faced some problems. Then I found that when I send email to the same address, instead of right away they never come back to me.

3rd- I called them because they were not responding to my emails. At first the lady on the phone was very nice and polite, once I tried to explain the problem she started to insult and screaming on me. She didn't let me to talk even one word for more than 10 minutes by yelling on me. whenever I was trying to talk, she was interrupting me.

4th- they missed some of my items and they offered me few dollars for signing the release. I signed the release, but never got paid. It's over months that I am contacting them every week and always they copy and past the following message in reply: (that I copied and pasted for your review)

"Hello xxx
In regards to your claim its been finalized and has been forwarded to the account manager for issue of payment.
Regards,
Vanessa"

I do believe, all of those few super positive reviews are done by themselves. Nobody can be positive toward such people.

This company is a scam.

They came to pick up my stuff as per schedule. They told me someone would call me to tell me at what time they would deliver my stuff to my new address the day after but nobody called me. I called and they then told me they would not deliver my stuff as per promised but would actually deliver it a week later. They've left me alone in a new city with no stuff! I had to pay for an hotel having nothing for a whole week!

Then the day they said they would come (for the second time) they were supposed to call me the day before and never did!! I called 10 times and left a message but they never answered!!

The lady on the phone was extremely rude and impolite and screamed at me.

I have hired a lawyer to sue them and to get my stuff back. I don't even know if I will ever see my stuff back!! I've been crying for days. I'm just 23 and they've left me with nothing and now I have big law bills I'll have to pay just to get my belonging backs. I can't believe someone would do that to someone else.. The owners of this company are inhuman. Don't go with them!

I wish I had read this site before Ibooked access Movers.

I've never had a phone call or email replied to. Complete runaround by Krystal. I still don't have my stuff even though the bill is paid. I paid it so I could get delivery. They've charged me for packing and unpacking which they didn't do. I have serious questions that my stuff will ever get delivered. And I felt nervous from the start. Krystal assures me they are in the business of moving furniture not keeping it
I'm not so sure about that.
The only thing this company did efficiently was send the bill out and collect the $ a minute after it was emailed. Now I wait for my stuff to be delivered, a phone call or email to answer my questions. Is there anywhere a person gets customer service these days?

Long-distance move from Brampton, ON to Regina, SK

Luggage lost and no refund.

I had to relocate from Brampton to Regina, so I was looking out for Packers and movers around Brampton and Toronto area. While browsing the internet, I saw this company called Access Canada Movers. I sent an email inquiring about their rates. I got a call from them the very next day.
Mark was the person who spoke to me, he gave me the rates and he booked a pickup. They came the next day and took my consignment. They promised to deliver it in 10 days but they took 21 days to deliver it and the worst part is that they lost one luggage.
They delivered my consignment on 28th September and till now I am calling them and emailing them to give a claim form, but till now they have not given me a claim form. Every time I call them, Krystal (Manager) picks up the phone and say “I apologize, I will ask them to contact you today”. After 3 months of relentless chasing the claims team responds back saying that the refund amount is $30 and deductible is $500 hence there is a deficit of -470 hence there is no refund. This company is horrible.

Do not Use Acess Canada Movers!

I recently relocated to canada, landed in Alberta but had to move to Ontario because of work. My items were originally shipped internationally into Canada without any issues.
I decided to browse online for movers, I needed to move my things from Calgary to Toronto. I found Access Canada Movers and gave them a call, and they quickly requested for $100 deposit which I paid. They promised the items will be delivered in 10-15 days, it took them 22 days to deliver and when they did 3 pieces of luggage were missing. One of them had very valuable stuff in it including a box of jewelries. I sent an email to complain stating the items that were missing since I had the manifest which had all items that were picked up, it was easy to know which items were missing. Someone responded to me insisting that the 3 missing items were delivered to me, however the person had no proof of this. I called on the 24th of december and was told I have to wait till January 7th for the claims department to look into it.

By the time the so called claims department got on the phone the manager practically repeated what was said in the email, stating that I have the Items. Clearly this does not make any sense because the driver who delivered my items confirmed that my missing items were not included in the items he delivered to me. The claims manager who is the same as their customer service Lady Stephanie is just badly behaved. She yelled on the phone when I called to follow up on my missing items, stating that I there is nothing anyone in the company can do for me and I can take this up with whomever I want. She was so rude it was actually unbelievable. I concluded that they stole my items. My experience felt like something out of a script which I had read from other reviews. I think they don't care about their customers and they have gotten away with misplacing or stealing peoples items so many times that they believe nobody can hold them responsible for their actions which is very sad.

This is a scam company and nobody should be tricked into doing any business with them. Once they have picked up your items their attitude changes for the worse. I do not recommend anyone use this company. They might appear cheap but in the long run they cost you a whole lot more than other movers.

Would not give a 1 STAR rating to this moving company!

I complained to the Manager Kystal that my invoice was incorrect. I requested the government regulated weight slip of my shipment from the so called Manager Kystal. Kystal would not give me a copy of the actual regulated weight of my shipment. I was informed by Kystal, that I would not be able to speak to anyone else in the company about the weight of my shipment or HER invoice. Kystal threatened that if I did not pay HER invoice, I would not receive my shipment as she would place it into storage and I would be held liable for the monthly storage fees until I paid HER invoice.

I have yet to receive the requested government regulated weight slip, the actual weight calculation, so it can be verified.

I had to pay the disputed invoice in FULL to receive my belongings. I DID NOT GET A RECEIPT OF THE PAYMENT I MADE from Kystal..

My experience with this company was dreadful. The Manager Kystal yelled and threatened during our telephone conversations. I was not allowed to speak while on the phone with her. At one point, I put the phone down on the table, walked away for a few minutes and when I returned to the phone, Kystal was still yelling at me. Totally unprofessional service by a Manager?

My emails to the company went unanswered. I was not allowed to speak with anyone else in the company.

My shipment did not arrive when expected. I waited weeks without receiving a call back or an email on a date that it might arrive.

On the date of delivery, my china cabinet arrived damaged (with deep scratches on the face of the doors) and my wooden antique bed arrived with chipped wood.

PURE AND SIMPLE THIS COMPANY IS A SHAM!!
