Terrible service! I booked my interstate move through another carrier, who unfortunately contracted with A1A Movers to deliver my belongings. The movers were horribly unprofessional and inexperienced. They arrived late with no apology, placed boxes of books on top of boxes with fragile items, carried and placed fragile boxes upside down, assembled multiple pieces of furniture incorrectly, incorrectly assembled and damaged a sofa that is now unusable without repairs, didn't ask where in the room I wanted furniture placed, argued with me when I told them an item wasn't mine, tried to rush out when they hadn't finished assembling all furniture, knocked over my neighbor's potted plant and didn't clean it up or even tell me about it, and scolded me when I insisted on reading the paperwork before signing it. I would absolutely not recommend A1A.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3600

On the positive side, A1A was inexpensive and it did move our stuff in good condition, though late. Two big negatives. First, extremely poor communication. We waited for promised pickups that were delayed without our being informed, the truck needed repair, which delayed delivery while we didn't know what was going on, we were promised call backs that didn't happen. We could have saved a lot of time and stress simply by being informed.
The second big problem was the unwillingness to refund us for 48 hour service, which they charged us for and didn't provide. Their excuse was that we weren't ready to accept delivery when they came, but they delivered outside the agreed on window and gave us less than 24 hours notice of the new delivery time.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1801

This was one of the worse experiences EVER. First off, 2 days before my scheduled move, the dispatch manager, Steffany calls to tell me because I never signed the electronic credit card copy I was not on their list of pick ups. Turns out this is a "scare tactic" (words from one of their own employees) Steffany uses to get people to sign a stupid form. Mind you they already had taken the money out of my account. The stress that created for me was unnecessary, especially considering I booked this move months in advance.

My things were picked up on June 29th and I just received them on July 21st. Everyday if was a different excuse. One time they told me one of the trucks broke down and they were waiting for a part to come in.

The sad part is the actual movers themselves did an excellent job, but their front office/ operations team is horrible. You can't lie to customers to get the results you want. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2200

Do NOT use A1A movers. On my move from Pompano Beach FL to Jersey City NJ, they lost my dining room table, a huge bedroom headboard, and a glass shelf. A1A movers is so sketchy. The team was responsive and polite up until I paid for my move. As soon as I booked them and made my first payment, they were extremely difficult to get in touch with and rude. Upon move in, they lost over $1000 worth of my furniture and even broke more furniture. I highly highly suggest you do not book A1A Movers under any circumstances. It is NOT worth the headache!

First of all, I am quite certain this company is run by dogs. After my first payment, they became extremely difficult and every attempts to secure a refund, they kept saying that my payment is non-refundable. I finally agreed and the movers came into my house with the worst attitude ever. Cigarette smokes and alcohol stench was all over them. They finally moved my furniture and broke almost 8 of them. When I contacted the claims, they said they will pay me 60cents/pound for each one. They damaged a $7000 couch and the claims department were offering $45 for it. Very useless company.

If I could give them a negative review, I would. The hassle that these people put you through, WILL give you a headache. First off, they lie. They make promises about delivery dates that they KNOW they can't keep. I hired them for my move from FL to NY back in October for a move in November. They arranged my delivery date and the guys came late. They give you a bogus dispatch e-mail that NO ONE answers to. They contact you whenever they feel like it. My delivery was scheduled for early in the morning and after waiting for hours, they contact me and tell me that they made a mistake and that they went to pick someone else's move before mine in a different state. So they changed my delivery timeframe. They loaded my things up in the truck and of course, charged me more money because it took up more space than they thought. I was okay with that because I expected that. Then, my delivery date arrives and I don't hear anything from anyone. I call and call and not one single person answers or calls me back. Finally, they tell me that the "expected delivery" doesn't mean that that's when I'll get my things. They had my things in their truck and I'd get it within a few days. Those few days pass and again, playing cat and mouse for someone to give me answers. They call me back days later with another estimated delivery date. They did this several times. Finally, my actual delivery date comes and the timeframe I was given, the delivery guys didn't show up for.. I left work early for this and the guys show up at about 10:30 pm. The guy shows up and says that they need to charge me more money because of the steps and blah blah. I get frustrated and tell him that I'm not giving him any more money because supposedly, on my contract, everything was accounted for. Finally, I give in and ask him how much extra it would be since I wanted to get this over with.. he gets in his truck and LEAVES with my things. I had been sleeping in an empty apartment with my toddler and the [EDIT] just left with my belongings. He didn't answer the phone or text messages. The next day, I call the company and Stephanie answers with the most disgusting attitude in the world telling me that if I wanted my things, I'd have to pay over $1000 for the re-delivery and the steps and the extra walkway. And that I had to wire them the funds before they could reschedule me. So I considered it since I wanted to get rid of these people and then she says "but don't think that you're getting your things redelivered soon. We have to wait until we have a delivery going your way in order to come. We don't just send our guys out for one delivery." If you are doing a state to state move, I recommend that you DO NOT use this company. No one takes accountability for what they tell you. You never speak to the same people twice. When you call asking for someone that you previously spoke with, that person is never around. All they do is LIE LIE and LIE! Don't give them your money!

This was our first time using a moving company and we are very happy with the prompt, efficient, and kind service we received. Three movers from A1A Moving and Storage helped us move a to of items in less than 4 hours. They were magicians with packing tape, communicated with us clearly and patiently, and handled our surprise additions to the move with grace and kindness. Assuming our belongings arrive unscathed, this cross-country move will be as painless as possible. Thanks guys!

Worst experience with A1A. I am a single female moving from New York to Virginia. On February 20, 2020 I signed a contract for A1A to move me on March 13th with delivery in Virginia the week of March 16th. I also gave a deposit. Ian was my salesman. I told Ian when I was considering A1A I was hesitant to hire them because of the poor reviews I had read about their company and the complaints I read with the BBB. Ian assured me that those poor reviews and complaints were just a few out of thousands of moves they did each year. He assured me that my move would go smoothly.

On Tuesday, March 10th I confirmed with Ian (via text) that I was still scheduled for pickup at 8:00 a.m. on Friday March 13th. He confirmed and said that dispatch would call me on Thursday March 12th with details for the pickup. On Thursday March 12th at 4:30 p.m. (approximately 15 hours prior to my pickup) A1A dispatch called and said they would no be coming as they would not have a truck in my area on Friday and did not know when they might have a truck available in my area. They said they would be happy to put me on a waiting list but could not give me a time frame as to when they might be able to get my things picked up. The lady on the phone (I failed to get her name) was very rude and unsympathetic. I told her that I had a signed contract and that I had paid a deposit. She said that they would refund my deposit. I asked her what was I supposed to do as I was starting a new job on March 23rd and had to be moved. I asked her why did they not call me weeks ago to tell me they couldn’t make the move so I would have time to find another moving company and she said that they do not know until one day prior to the move if they will actually be in a certain area and be able to do a specific move and therefore they can only give less than a one day notice of their cancellation.

She went on to say that she was sorry but there was nothing they could do for me. She told me she had many more calls to make that day and could not stay on the phone. She gave me a phone number and told me I could call her back later (which I did and had to leave her a message to refund my deposit immediately).

I cannot tell you how stressed out I have been over the last 15 hours and how inconvenient this has been.

In the end I wound up renting a UHaul and hiring two men to load my belongings onto the UHaul. I also had to find someone to drive the UHaul to Virginia for me (as I have a vehicle I have to drive and was not comfortable towing it behind a large UHaul) and had to pay for a plane ticket for that person to get back to New York.

Never in my life have I ever heard of a company doing business like this. I would not recommend this company to anyone and I am filing a complaint with the BBB as I feel that in addition to my deposit being returned, I should be reimbursed for the cost of hiring the two movers and the cost of the plan ticket to fly my driver back to New York.

The estimate they give you (Ian) is to get you in the door then when they show up and the up charges start. They must pay the on site foremen a percent of whatever he can get out of you.

I saw this coming so before they loaded the truck I took a tape measure and measured with the foremen the space inside of truck that our move would take. After truck was loaded went over measurements and came to 588cf foremen said we go by lines on the truck and its 788cf. I guess basic math and tape measuring skills don't apply to A1A. They then threatened to take the stuff off the truck and leave on sidewalk if I didn't pay. They are the worst you have been warned!

This company is criminal. They lied, added on exorbitant fees and miscommunicated delivery times. They packaged my belongings with

No care or expertise. Once my belongings arrived my rugs were a disaster, folded with no care and boxes haphazardly placed inside my home. Careless handling and broken dishes. Absolutely no respect for my belongings. They had up charged to carry my sofa up 3 flight of stairs and lied about the fees. I would never want anyone else to be taken advantage of.

A1A movers was contracted through Levic Van Lines to pick up my furniture for a move from California to New Jersey on 11/25/2020. It is now 1/29/2021 and the company is holding my belongings hostage somewhere in California. I’ve lost EVERYTHING I EVER OWNED and no one from the company will respond to my calls or emails. I even submitted a hostage claim and claim through the U.S. Federal Bureau. Avoid this company at all costs . A1A if you see this RELEASE JAMELIA HARRIS BELONGINGS ASAP.

Literally the worst movers you could possibly use. Not only did they lose a box, but almost every box was damaged that came. Some of my things were broken, including my bicycle and a record player that was packed with packing peanuts. The owner, Steve Goldman, is vindictive and sexist. He tried to change the price of what we owed them, which was different than what was quoted. When we managed to talk to him, he said that he would change it back to the original price but less than 2 minutes later changed his mind and hung up on us.

It is impossible to get ahold of someone and it took 2 weeks to get ahold of anyone regarding payment. Not only that, but our packages did not come on time (which is outlined in the contract). Worst customer service possible. Their salesperson I spoke to was great, but everyone else was rude.

I have yet to hear back from someone regarding my broken items.

DO NOT USE. Unless you like to overpay and deal with misogynists. The owner is a crook and doesn't deserve a business.

A lot of their 5 star reviews are fake. This is so they can balance out and not dip to 1 star. The users that are "commenting" have no social media presence at all. BEWARE. Don't go with a company that posts a 5 star review just a dew days after a 1 star review. They're clearly a scam and not worth the time or effort.
