Zero Stars! Do Not Use!

The general business practices of never returning phone calls is a non-starter.
With a quoted list of 82 items and only 71 on the truck, my estimate went from 1,428 to 3,000, because items are bulky/ un-stack-able.
When trying to get a hold of anyone at the office for 7 days my phone calls where left unanswered, messages where never returned, and when I did get a hold of someone they would say someone would call back and never did.
Also, I didn't receive a call on the day of drop off till an hour before, when I was assured that I would get a call the day before. I witnessed them standing on my furniture to un-stack it in the truck, and the general condition of my furniture was not in good shape after delivery. I've been trying now for 2 days to get a hold of someone to make claims on my damaged furniture and no one has answered or returned my messages.

Thanks to the whole team!

These guys were great! I was downsizing and moving from a home I had lived in for more than 30 years and was very anxious. These movers put me at ease. The guys came early, worked fast and efficiently. The estimate they gave me was very close to the actual price I paid. Everything was delivered in perfect condition and set up quickly in my new place. If I ever move again, I will surely use them.

A1A Movers.

MOVING TRUCK HIT BY TRAIN! EVERYTHING DESTROYED! A1A MOVERS, LLC still has not reimbursed for moving expenses we paid 17 months ago. The moving truck got stuck on railroad tracks and a high speed train plowed through the middle of the trailer. Everything was destroyed and eventually taken to the land fill. The driver is okay and was issued a citation. TV news said there were 23 warning signs posted for truck trailers regarding the tracks. Numerous people assured us that if A1A was a reputable company they would do the right thing and compensate fairly for this great loss that was due to driver negligence. As of today, we can’t even get the moving expenses we paid reimbursed! After 17 months and a multitude of phone calls/emails we have been told numerous times “check is in the mail”. Over 13 weeks ago, Steve Goldburg, Vice President of A1A Movers, even a sent partial picture of a check and re-verified our mailing address. It never arrived. 7 weeks ago, after contacting Steve several times again, he emailed us back “The other check was cancelled and I was advised that a new check is going out!” Still no check.

In addition to the tragic train disaster, the following occurred: Items were picked up in Florida and we were told they should be delivered to Arizona in two weeks. 6 days after pick-up, Stephanie from A1A called and said the items were being held in Florida because the check bounced and they needed payment plus bounced check fees. Our bank confirmed check was cashed. After a day of phone calls and hassle, A1A told us the check WAS cashed by them and it bounced when they tried to cash a second time. A1A released items for delivery. 16 days after pick-up the items were still in Florida. 23 days after pick-up we were told the truck was finally on its way but it first had stops in Texas and New Mexico. 27 days after pick up we were informed that moving truck was hit by a train in Norcross, Georgia. You do the geography! It took A1A 3 days after the accident occurred to notify us. We later found out belongings weren’t even on a A1A truck. They were on a different moving company’s truck. 4 months ago, the other moving company’s insurance provider issued a check for $1,898 for the loss of household goods (a fraction of the value or .60/lb as we did not purchase extra insurance). It took a year of phone calls/emails to the insurance company. The check was sent, lost in the mail, and re-issued. We finally got it. We have never had a problem with our mail carrier with exception of checks from A1A and insurance company.

This claim is as legitimate as it gets with pictures, police reports, tv footage, emails from A1A and phone records. Yet, we can’t get the moving expenses that we paid reimbursed. I wish luck to anyone with damaged or missing items. I contracted with A1A Movers, LLC on behalf of my daughter who was moving from Florida to Arizona (she paid for move). I am writing to warn anyone considering A1A Movers, LLC. I recommended A1A Movers to my daughter and she lost everything she owned (she doesn’t blame me) and even though we have helped our daughter, as much as we can, she took a second job to rebuild her life and doesn’t have the time or energy to do this too. Moral of the story…. MOVER BEWARE!

In many complaints filed against A1A, they request that the customer contact them to resolve. A1A has our all our info. They can contact us. A1A Movers, LLC is headquartered in Miami, Florida. According to their website they serve 25 states. On their website (a1amovers.com) they also acknowledge themselves as A1A Movers and Storage and A1A Moving and Storage.

Thank you!

They were great with my family members and helped unpack our van back into our house. We would highly recommend these men. When we have phoned we have always dealt with a lady and she has been superb. Really helpful, bent over backwards to ensure we have got a slot for later in the week and managed to move it round so we end up with the same lads. Really thoughtful way to do business knowing we felt comfortable with specific ones.

Long-distance move from New York to Georgia

Runnnnn Don't do It!

Stephanie in customer service is the worst.. I moved from NYC to ATL.. and was promised a false moved date. They held my items hostage for a full week.. Showed up late and then tried to charge me $85 for a full flight of steps.. I was given a flat rate and told I would not be charged anything additional. I only lived up one flight of stairs which consisted of a total of 16 steps..Stephanie told me that I had to pay $85.00 for the additional 8 steps..When I refused to pay she had the movers leave my items in front of my building. This company is a rip off and not worth the headache. The pictures represent the items I had and the total number of steps. The movers were told to leave my items outside, in front of my apartment for $85.00. I had to carry my items myself.. With most of my boxes being wet and torn.

Long-distance move from Delray Beach, FL to Seattle, WA

Terrible Company.

November 28, 2017 I hired A1A Movers after extensively measuring my shipment with their customer service rep. When they arrived at my home, I informed them I would reduce my shipment by taking the larger furniture items off my shipment and add a few more boxes instead. My shipment ended up being 80% boxes, a queen mattress and box springs and a few random items like golf clubs and very small items. A total of 69 items. I remeasured my cubic square feet which came to 223 cf which was less than the original 309 cf they were scheduled to pickup. The 309 cf was calculated at a cost of $1,850.00. I had already paid a $555.00 deposit to the A1A Movers. and was prepared to pay $648.00 CASH as they stated in my contract and then pay $648.00 CASH when they delivered my items in Washington. After they loaded my things on the truck and then told my shipment size was way over the original 309 cf and that I would owed them $1,168.00 right then and $1,168.00 when they delivered. They almost doubled my estimate at that point. Standing in the street unable to argue because I had to leave that next day for Washington I agreed to pay them with a check instead of cash and take up the argument with their office when I reached Washington. I ended up leaving my new mattress and box springs on the sidewalk in an effort to reduce the shipment. My shipment was promised to be in Washington by Jan 5, 2018. A1A Movers did not except any phone calls, return any emails or text for over a month. When it was finally close to my delivery date I finally got a response from them after I left a negative Facebook post. My things were not anywhere near Washington and they refused to re-measure my things with me. I have their detailed inventory list which clearly shows 69 items and the measurements of those items and that they total 223 cf not 424 cf that they were basing my bill on. They kept insisting there were 89 items. After finally getting someone to recount they admitted there were only 69 items but they refuse to remeasure the items or even do the math on their inventory list. As a result they finally showed up in Washington the end of January, three weeks late and they will not turn my things over to me unless I pay another $1,168.00. At this point the $555.00 deposit and the check I gave them for $1,168.00 for a total of $1,723.00. Their contracted rate is $6.65 per cf which in my case eventually came out to 223 cf = $1483.00 I have clearly overpaid. I don't care about the money anymore I just want my things. There are valuable things in those boxes as well as confidential personal information in old tax returns, birth certificates, social security card for my family. They put my things in storage a little over two weeks ago and the continue to harass me asking for more money, however the amount does reduce each offer!! I don't owe them any thing and I want my things back as soon as possible. They are holding my things hostage and trying to extort more more money. Please help me. They also have a New Jersey address; A1A Movers, 18 Donaldson Place, Linden NJ 07036 877-212-6682 Thank you Karla J MacGregor.

Official company response

Karla McCregor called us when shipment was in route saying that she cannot receive the shipment ! (money issues) we explained that the shipment has left and that she has to receive her shipment ! That is when everything changed, all of a sudden we overcharged her. Now Ms. McCregor became and expert on cf and that she knows that she has 200cf, when we have docs showing that there is 450 cf on the trailer ! After many emails and phone calls understanding that she basically does not have any way to pay her move we decided to release the furniture at no additional cost !
Now Ms. McCregor is disputing all previous charges which didn't even cover our expense for her move. Its unfortunate but we will do our best to retrieve at least those funds !

Stay Away!!

My advice to anyone about your company is " If you can find any other moving company I highly recommend you do." First the men who came and packed my things on and off the truck were great! No issues there. My issue came with the price I was quoted and what I had to pay in the end. I completely filled out the inventory with everything that was to be placed on the truck and was given a quote of $1200. When the gentleman placed everything on the truck I was then told that they underestimated the cost and it would cost me an additional $500 for my items. I talked to one of the owners named Steve whom was RUDE AND CONDESCENDING!! I was also told that they would look over the inventory and get back to me on why THEY underestimated the room I needed on the truck and guess what I have heard from NO ONE!! My second issue is trying to locate your items once they are in route is IMPOSSIBLE AND INEFFICIENT!! They give you a number to "dispatch" no one ANSWERED EVER!! I called several times a day as well as emailed with no reply!! This was the worst moving experience EVER and im a traveling nurse so I have had to relocate or move plenty of times. I will NEVER EVER EVER USE YOUR COMPANY AGAIN!!

Long-distance move from Maryland to Florida

Stay far away!

Stay far away from A1A movers!
What they do to get you hooked initially is quote you with a great price for the inventory of the things that you were moving saying they will come and set your things up and take them down and move them on a certain day. The quote that they gave you is not accurate, when the movers come they will charge you additional money. I told them exact sizes of containers I was moving on the phone and was still charged 300.00 more than quoted when the movers came because they said they were bigger than they expected.

The day they came to get my things I was told they would be there at 2pm. They showed up at 9pm at night. They were very rude and hasty with moving things. Only one guy really moved anything and the other talked on his phone the whole time. After HOURS of moving they shove contracts in your face and try to make you not read them. READ THE CONTRACT!!
They won't offer you Insurence on your things. Which means they can "lose" your stuff. Then you will get .65 per pound. So say you have a thousand dollar camera on the truck. Gets lost stolen or broken they give you .65 cents. Don't sign this demand that part out or demand Insurence.

When you sign the contract, the contract states they have 21 business days, so an entire month for them to deliver you your goods. They waited until day 29 to show up at my door even though they promised me it would be there on the first of the month. An entire month with no things was really bad and the company will not work with you to get there any faster.

After hearing this I called twice a week to check on the status, which they never know where the movers are. The woman in dispatch is extremely rude (not like the one in customer service which is friendly and lures you in). She didn't apologize for the delay and said "well you signed the contract". I told her the movers picked up on the 24th of last month and I was told on the phone it would be delivered on the 1st. She told me too bad.

Movers showed up very late on the 29th. Unloaded everything in the house. Things were VERY beat up. They laid out parts for the things they took apart like my desk, tv stand, and glass end tables. And said they would put back together. After they unloaded everything (again not very gentle with your things basically throwing if off the truck) they said we don't know where the screws are and we can't put your things back together. I said well how can I even get the screws they said not our problem. I have this on video. He told me to make a claim on the paper I signed and I did. So I called the movers the next 2 days to see about them paying for my things now that I have useless items in my house I can't put back together. Nothing.
Stay far away from these con artists.
