Local move from Sooke, BC to Langford, BC

2 moves

The 3 Burley men were really great on my move from Sooke to Langford!!

They wrapped everything and put my clothes in garment box and all my pictures in 4 big boxes.

The move out day was really ? but they did a great job despite the heat.

Friendly and professional.

Only complaint is a piece of glass was broken which they said they would compensate me for and a wooden piece broke off my sideboard. But stuff happens. Not a worry.

Move within Victoria.

Two men who were not burley, but who proved to be very strong, arrived on time and quickly began loading up the truck. They carefully plastic wrapped our wood furniture, had a plan on what order to move the furniture and boxes, and did it all quickly and efficiently. They had some tight spaces to turn in. No problem, they just slowed down. I would recommend 2 Burley Men to my friends!

Under Estimating & Highly Overcharging

I want to say firstly that the movers Lamont and Tristan were awesome and did an amazing job.

However, that ended when he gave me the final bill of $2900.

I was quoted $2000-$2500 for the move. I wouldn't expect the final bill to go much higher than $2500 considering the actual moving of furniture and items only took an hour at each end.

I find it a little odd that a ferry reservation wasn't booked in advance considering we had confirmed the moved over a week ago. To then see ferry charges of $579.24 made me look into the fares.

The most expensive fare for their size moving truck with 2 adults, and no discount is $159.15 each way. So a return trip would cost $318.30. We've been charged almost $260 more than we should have. That doesn't sit well with me as I also tipped both guys.

I understand this was a long distance move but the original price quoted reflected that. To be in for almost $3000 doesn't make sense.

I guess I should have done a bit more research on your company. There's a very obvious pattern of under estimating and highly overcharging. And in every case the owners response is

"Sorry to hear that your experience was not a good one."

You do nothing to make it right and obviously could care less about customer service and retention. Two of the most important things in business but I guess you guys could care less and it shows in your reviews all over the web. I'd be embarrassed about that but you guys can obviously sleep at night.

I sure hope you treat your employees better than you treat your customers because Lamont and Tristan are all stars, unlike yourself. Think it's about time you guys get your heads out of your asses and start making things right.

Unreal.....

I had to give this review 1 star because you can't post a review with 0 stars. Too bad

So looking forward to my personal

"Sorry to hear that your experience was not a good one."

Long-distance move from Penticton, BC to Red Deer, AB

Do Not recommend

We chose 2 Burley Men because they were a local company. The first few reviews we looked at were all positive. Unfortunately they are running the biggest scam ever. We were quoted roughly $3500.00. My husband called on the Wed before they were scheduled to come and Earl stated that the movers would call two days before the two day window that we had to pick from which was a Sat. or Sun. My husband asked if he wanted an inventory and Earl just said -just keep packing. When they didn't call on Thurs. we assumed they would be coming on Sun. When we did not get a call on Friday, we called the Victoria number and we were told they would get back to us with an answer. No call back. I finally called late that afternoon and got Earl who was condescending, rude and obnoxious. When he answered, it was a bad connection, and when I mentioned it, he abruptly stated "deal with it...wait Wendy" (he knew who I was by my phone number), put me on hold and then came back to say the movers would be there at 9:00 the 17th. I asked politely is that Sat. or Sun--He yelled back in a very condescending manner very slowly and rudely with "Yes, 9 on Sun the 17th. I had the call on speaker and my husband could not believe his ears.

On Sat. the movers called and asked what time to come on Sun. (I thought that had already been confirmed with Earl), so I said 9:00--and he actually asked if that would be 9 am or pm. Strange question-why would they start loading at 9 pm?

They actually arrived at 10:30am and spent the first 45 minutes rearranging the truck because it was 3/4 full and they said we had more stuff than they thought we would. Maybe the inventory we asked about should be considered. They started loading at around 11:30. So they packed some of our belongings and when they realized it was not going to all fit they called their boss and he told them to figure it out. At 2:30pm they drove away with half of our stuff, left our kitchen table and chairs in our yard along with other items and said they would be back with another truck.

We had to ask a friend to wait for them because we had a six hour drive ahead of us. They finally came back at 7:30pm and went about loading one item at a time-our friend, who has a bad back decided to help because they were moving so slowly and she did not want to be there until midnight at the rate they were moving, and they left close to 9pm.

We were told that they would call us the day before the delivery with a time. No call. We had the movers' number because our friend needed it for contact when they came back with the second truck (which broke down when they were leaving), so we called them to find out that they were still working on a schedule but most likely would be on the Thurs. (four days after loading), but they would call when they had a definite time frame--no call. We had a 45 min. drive to get to our new home so we asked them to give us a heads up so we could meet them on time--no call. We called them and they said that they were an hour away, but the truck broke down so they were discussing with the boss what they should do. They finally showed up close to noon. They did not have a receipt of the weight from the weigh scale, and with no proof of weight they were charging us $4197.53 for the first load. They make you sign and pay before they unload, so you cannot tell if anything is damaged. They take your credit card number and phone it in--very insecure.

We noticed our ladder was not there and there were many items that were damaged.

We got our second load four days later and the charge for that load was $4508.91. We were shocked! Plus they wanted us to pay for the transfer once again--it was not our fault that they had to use two trucks-all of our belongings should have been on one truck and delivered one time. They take three loads from three different people and charge each one $800.00 for the transfer (which covers gas, hotel and food for the movers) The gas came to $1000.00--where does the rest of the $2400.00 go?

We had major damage to our kitchen table, our outdoor furniture that we had just purchased ($3000.00 worth), a floor lamp that belonged to my deceased parents, no ladder, no area rug or underlay ($500.00 purchase), broken bike mirror and major stress from the whole process that we went through and they came back with $400.00 compensation, after many phone calls and emails.

We are putting this behind us as a very bad moving experience, but would like to warn others to beware of these scammers.

We were told when we booked that they had insurance, but when it came time for us to be compensated we were told that they don't have insurance.

Very bad business management and absolutely no customer service or satisfaction.

Complete Garbage

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I strongly advise you not to use this company as they are a complete disgrace to the industry. My parents moved from BC to Calgary and are being taken advantage of because they are elderly. The hutch my parents had in their living room cost $2000, but they can't find it. Yes, a large piece of furniture is missing. It is certain that they are taking people's furniture and reselling it. I have contacted the police and they will be investigating this matter. Ok you lose a box but a massive hutch I don’t buy it at all. Guess what they are offering for compensation $75 dollars. They could resell that hutch even for $1000 and various items that were stolen and give my elderly parent $75 dollars their profit is $925. So not only are they taking money from people to break and lose their items they are also profiting from the resale of your lost items. You can not tell me moving from one province to another you can destroy and lose that much stuff. Also:

1. Several broken items in the move lamps dropped boxes dropped things shattered.

2. Trying to book a time for delivery was given the run around and had to contact them several times. Had to have another person there to help them they were so slow and disorganized.

3. Missing items boxes full of bedding, clothing and a massive piece of furniture.

4. Didn't mark the boxes and several things on one truck your stuff will never be found again.

5. Delivery guys so sketchy it was actually a bit frightening.

THEY ARE SCAMMING PEOPLE DO NOT USE

I will be posting a picture of the hutch if anyone sees this please contact the police.

A small move from an Independant Living facility to a Long Term Care f

The office sent our movers to the wrong location, resulting in a 40 minute delay. Timing of move is critical since elevator access is timed. Information regarding Covid protocols was not passed on to movers.

However, the two men who did the work were organized, efficient, polite and very capable. Thank you to Shane and Soph .

No Insurance!!

They carry no insurance if they lose or damage your stuff!!

We were offered $0.60/lb for a 70 pound item they lost, substantially less than the item was worth.

Don't do it - use a larger company with insurance!!!!!
