Under One Star-Scam

They said they were coming one day, then come the next day and only take 1/2 stuff. The truck they sent was full. Pick up the second half with another truck at 11:30pm-2am. Then over the following two days drop the stuff off. Its only a 1 bedroom. They quote is for $2700.00for the1bedroom. The first drop-off- increased to $3000.00. The second drop off is an additional 1650.00!!! The one supervisor was actually threatening and abusive, knowing our situation. Warn as many ppl as possible.

Move from Vancouver To Calgary

These guys are horrible! More like 2 Bonehead Men Moving than anything. Booked a time for 2-3pm for them to arrive. As in many downtown apt buildings you have to block off the elevator for a move. So we got the elevator locked off from 2-5pm for a micro studio amount move. They didn’t show up until after 6pm! Wouldn’t have been so bad had they communicated with us at all. We got through to Josh around 4pm and he said they were 30 mins away. Nope. Tried calling back and was completely ignored. When they finally arrived we asked if we could possibly move the items the next day as we no longer had the elevator locked off. Nope. They said they had “scheduled” pick ups the next morning and didn’t know when the truck would be back in Vancouver again. So we had to move the items in the elevator on a busy Saturday night with people trying to use the elevator which took at least 3 times longer. The cherries on this Jubilee was that we were fined $300 from the strata and the items arrived with chip and dings in them. Their reply when asked, “Stuff happens”. DO NOT use these guys!

Decent people. Bad systems.

Everyone I dealt with was polite and helpful. My goods all arrived intact.

The lower review is down to a huge disparity between the estimate and the final charge. It was $800+ more than the estimate or some 55% more than the estimate.

While estimates are rarely spot on, this disparity shows either incompetence in estimating work or habitual practice. Based on other reviews, and even comments by staff, it is a continuous issue. This makes them a risky vendor to employ as it can really damage your budget.

Plus they take payment with credit card over the phone and write down your card number on the invoice - a very insecure and archaic practice. As such I’d be unwilling to use them again in the future or recommend them to others.

Do not let them touch your piano!

They do not know how to move a piano properly. They damaged the piano during the move and the movers would not take reasonability for the damage they cause. When confronted about the damage, the movers became rude and aggressive towards us.

Do not let them touch your piano!

They were also asked beforehand specifically to wear a mask when entering our house, but the one of the movers did not come with a mask and entered our house anyways without a mask.

Additionally they did not use any floor covering to protect the flooring when moving the piano and did not wear booties when wearing their shoes inside while walking across carpet.

I strongly recommend others against using 2 Burley Men Moving and will not be using them again in the future.

Move BC Okanagan to Camrose Alberta

The 2 men who picked up our stuff were awesome. The other two out of Edmonton should not be in the business without further training in handling goods. The cost of the move went from 6500 dollars to 8300 dollars. Our furniture came on two trucks days apart. The second load went from Oliver area to Calgary, Red Deer and then on to Edmonton then back to our place. Disgusting service in my opinion and grossly overpriced. Some items broken. Had I known they would never have been called for the job. I am positive there are more out there much better. Why send a truck to pick up our stuff when it won't fit?? Never again will we use this company. The dispatcher has no clue how the choices made affect the customer.

Unaccountable for damage to my furniture

The movers were friendly and hard working, but they did major damage to my furniture, including an $1800 solid wood mates bed and left nails protruding into my almost new mattress puncturing it. They KNEW they hadn't assembled it correctly but didn't tell me. My new dining room chairs have gouges in them, each worth $150 per chair. Gouges and scuffs to a wooden desk. They are offering me $168 refund for all this damage! This is unacceptable. How do they get away with this? They are not careful or accountable. There is no accountability with this company. Make it right 2 Burley Men. I will write a more positive review when you pay for the damage you caused to my furniture.

Damage and Destruction - Alberta to BC move

Too bad I didn't bother to read the reviews posted here before hiring them. Didn't arrive when they were supposed (despite booking 2 months in advance), arrived late for pick up and the same for drop off. Quote was almost 1/2 of what I ended up paying. Furniture left on its side or left for 2 senior citizens to figure out how to move it. (Not our responsibility to put furniture where customer wants it) quote from customer service. More damage done on this move than the previous 10 moves in our life. Heavy items must have been placed on furniture not designed to take weight, Just a mess from start to finish. Ended up having another company come and put things as right as they could for us. (Get a Load Off Moving A+)

Best ever

This was my second move with 2 burley men. I was again very impressed with their professionalism, their courteousness, their speed and the condition of my stuff when it arrived. Dustin, my driver was wonderful. He answered my phone calls quickly and I loved the way he spoke to his two underlings. He was very patient when explaining why he was doing what he was doing. I would use them again if I needed to move.

Local move from Oliver, BC to Kelowna, BC

Argumentative & unproffesional

I contacted Two Burly Men to move my 87 year old mother from Oliver to Kelowna, was given an estimate of $1100 for a 1 bedroom apartment, which I thought was very reasonable, it included 2 men to load (most items were in boxes, but there were some pictures that needed wrapping) it included travel time to & from Kelowna & a gas surcharge. Not a problem. They were to show up between 9 & 9:30am. I got a call at 9 to say they were just leaving Kelowna, and would be there by 10:30 and when they arrived they started working right away. They wrapped, and packed, (their names were Jeff (A) and Shawn (I think...was ‘B’...he was very nice).

‘A’ started out as a rather chatty fellow, stopping to tell us stories about his life as a roadie with bands, his driving experiences, his nursing skills, his travels...we listened and commented because, well, we didn’t want to be rude to the fellow who had all our furniture at his disposal. In reality we just wanted him to keep working to keep the hours to a minimum...oh well...small price to pay.

‘A’ was the driver of the truck, and I made a point of letting him know that he would have to be finished unloading on the other end by 5 pm because that was when the residents would be dining and the home would prefer to not have to hold the elevator for them if at all possible. He said it would be ‘no problem’. As it turns out, when he arrived to the seniors’ home, (I was already upstairs) and upon coming back down to let him know where to go I learned that he was speaking very disrespectfully to the manager and other staff because he refused to wear a mask and with that he would not be allowed into the building, which made him extremely agitated. I thought I might be able to reason with him calmly but the conversation just became more and more inflamed and he kept getting louder and louder, pushing his views on anyone who walked by. The saving grace was that my husband showed up to help hang some photos but instead ended up helping ‘B’ to move all the furniture upstairs in a pair of Birkenstocks! ‘A’ yelled and tried to push his anti-masking views onto my husband every time he went out to get another load. He commented that my husband ‘shouldn’t be in the back of the truck!‘ to which my husband replied ‘you’re right! I shoudn’t be! But I am because ‘somebody’ has to do your job for you!’ (I don’t know if ‘A’ was vaccinated...my bad, I should have insisted prior to hiring). So for 2 hours Jeff whined and complained about vaccinations and mask mandates, how he’s allergic to masks and that they hurt more than they help, how he has 4+ years of nursing experience (which is why he’s now driving a truck and moving furniture??). If he didn’t want to wear a mask he should not be in the line of work that he is in, or at the very least should make sure he isn’t moving people into places where masks are still required.

In the end, I called the management ‘C’, explaining my situation to her and was told that they would deduct $150.00 from the final bill to compensate my husband for his time!! (remember I was given an estimate of $1100) and now the bill came down to $1648.11!! Who is their estimator??? Literally the worst experience I’ve ever had with a moving company! Would recommend them to absolutely NOBODY!
