Sonic auto transport

Fiona was great at communicating, and I’d give her a 5, driver was wonderful as well, but as for the industry right now it feels like nothing less than a scam and this company seems to participate in it! A lowball quote, followed by the “driver had an accident so Ill have to find another and it will cost u more to move car” and no way of getting around it. I offered to wait til the driver was ready but that was not an option. Only option was to pay more and then pay more! In my opinion this company should not feel good about participating in this deceptive business practice.

This company doesn’t even deserve 1 star! I chose them out of all the other companies to get me a transport from Louisiana to California. Signed a contract and read reviews etc. Gave Alex my debit card information to get it going and next day HUNDREDS of dollars fraud on my credit card! Someone in their billing department used my personal information to pay their Spectrum bill. When I confronted them they acted as they knew nothing. Then cancelled my transport. Stay as far away from these people as you can. The reviews are probably made by their own employees. They don’t deserve to be in business.

Service cost: $780

Sonic-Auto was able to get my car delivered on time and my agent (Clinton Blair) had good communication with me leading up to my car being picked up. The reason why I'm giving their service 3/5 stars is because I ended up paying $360 more than initially quoted. On the day that my car was supposed to be picked up my driver texted me saying that he was unable to pick it up for some weird arbitrary reason. Clinton was able to find a driver for me shortly after but I had to pay way more than I was quoted for. They stated it was due to the holidays and such but it really hurt when I had to hear that. I had no choice but to accept since I needed my car, the cancellation fee, and supposedly prices would sky rocket after New Years. Is that true or a bait-switch tactic? Who knows.

This company is an absolute JOKE. We moved from Minneapolis to St. Petersburg, FL - they picked up our vehicle last Wednesday and promised that it would be dropped off in FL by Sunday (4 day transport). It is now Tuesday and they still have not dropped the vehicle off. I was supposed to start my new job yesterday and could not, nor could I get to work today due to THIS COMPANY AND THEIR BROKEN PROMISES. They want $1000 upon pickup, and offered us "25% off for next time" - NEXT TIME? I only plan on moving cross-country ONCE, so WHY would I take that offer when they screwed up THIS time? That alone makes me believe the company won't be around within a few years from now. Do what is right and help your customers- don't screw them over.

Also, AVOID TALKING TO ***JAY GOOD*** She is one of the rudest people I have ever spoken with over the phone - she alone, makes the company looks terrible. Not sure how she managed to land a customer service job when she has no customer service skills. She kept cutting me off and telling me to "drop my attitude" - last time I checked, I AM THE CUSTOMER AND YOU AREN'T DOING ANYTHING TO HELP. Now they are ignoring my phone calls and I have no idea how I am supposed to get my car. Again, I repeat, this company is a JOKE and so is JAY GOOD. Be aware - they are a full-blown scam. Now we have to call the police and report the vehicle stolen because they aren't willing to lower the amount owed ($1000), and we are not willing to pay that - again, this is THEIR mistake, and by not taking accountability makes them look foolish as a company.

I will continue to post this review on as many websites as possible in order to get the word out, since JAY GOOD doesn't want to do anything to help. I called and asked to speak with a manager and got "K I'll send your info over. Hopefully they reach out soon" ...... Great talk.

I had a very good experience with Sonic Auto Transport from Jacksonville, NC to Las Vegas, NV. My customer service rep was Petra Griffin, she was very professional and made the experience a good one! We had good communication from the beginning of the process. Our 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander was delivered within the timeframe quoted (6 days) and our driver, Alex was professional as well. I would recommend Sonic Auto Transport and be sure to ask for Petra, she was Great! Thank you. Mayra

I want to thanks Dominic to help me find a good driver in a short time. The vehicle was delivered couple days earlier and with perfect condition. I contacted tons of auto shipping companies. Dominic is the only person who keenly helped me as well as gave me a discount rather than urging me to pay and make a reservation in one day. The price they promised is fair and the service they provided is better than some popular auto shipping companies. I'm pretty satisfied with this purchase choice.

Service cost: $1350

Scheduled pick up on March 22nd for Monday March 28th but after two days had to change the date to March 30th giving them 5 days for the change. Tried contacting them via phone and email and got no response until Friday March 25th. At this time they tell me I have to pay a $100 change fee of which there is nothing in their contract about this charge. It says they can charge you something but no number given and on top of that it states they will do everything they can to not charge the fee. I stated I would not pay the fee and if he didn't want to budge on the fee I would find another moving company.

Then he comes up with a $200 cancel charge of which there is nothing in the contract about that either. I sincerely feel this guy Dean was making this up as he went. At the end he threatened to charge my credit card for all of the fees, obviously I won't let that happen. The man talked like a computer, very dry and unrelenting. This is my first vehicle to have to have moved, I will never do it again.

In Aug 2021 I researched and researched and researched. I needed to find a company that I could trust and have peace of mind that the car would be safe in their hands. After all the research I did, I found Sonic. There are several companies called Sonic so that got a bit confusing. But the one I dealt with had this number, 530-648-9041. I did my homework on them, DOT, BBB, rating sites, all had Nothing negative but Great reviews. I contacted them and spoke with Bob. Then Heather Flores is who took great of care of. Sept 2021: The car was shipping from VA to WA. Heather explained everything that would happen. THE GOOD: 1) they communicated every step of the way. 2) they have their process down, they where efficient and professional. 3) Car was picked up about two days earlier and delivered a few days earlier than originally planned which was a great surprise since I needed it 4) The person who was actually driving the transporter reached out to me and the plan was set of where I was going to meet him since it’s a giant truck can’t just pull it into a neighborhood. 5) the car was loaded / unloaded with care (I still have that video). 6) I Had a great experience, so much so that I am going to use them again for an April 2022 transport of the same car. THE BAD: I wish they had a unique name because there are other companies called Sonic and it can get confusing and you could end up with the one you didn’t intend to use.

Sonic Auto Transportation signed a contract with us four weeks in advance of our needed shipping date. They were priced similar to other transport companies. We needed my aging mother's car shipped from CA to TX to accommodate her wheelchair. I received confirmation a week out, the day before and the day of shipping. At the time the driver supposed to show up, I got a cancelation notice via text. No one would call me back until the next day. When they finally called, I stressed I needed the car by a certain date, they said they could do it, but it would be double the cost from $1,000 to $2,100. This was true extortion. I have since shipped with another company and had a smooth experience. Do not use this company.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.

After booking my initial transport for $1025 and confirming this price and date/time was locked in, I received 0 updates. I called and emailed in the two weeks leading up to my move as I was traveling for work up until the day before I moved from Metro Detroit to Austin, TX and I only had a one day window for the vehicle to get picked up.

The company confirmed the rate and pick up date were locked in. But on the day they were supposed to pick up I was completely ghosted by Tim Cunningham, despite calling multiple times the day before and on that day. Tim 'had an accident on his way to work', and also conveniently left his phone in the car. Cool. Even if that was true, hand the job off to somebody else that can take care of your clients.

After firing them the first time, Tim reached out and baited me into another contract as I was already 3/4 of the way to Texas in my moving van and they all use the same drivers at a rate of +$475 over our initial price. I gave him the opportunity as he said it would be done the next morning. When that date and time passed, I tried to cancel and he gave me the driver's number. I called him and he told me that he spoke with Tim the day before and had told him 'his truck broke down' and he wouldn't be available.

This entire industry is a sham. The fact that they can lure you in with one price and pick up time and are not held to it blows my mind. The entire experience was probably one of the worst and most unpleasant things I've ever had to do as I was simultaneously moving across country. It was very stressful.

All the things I was in control over for my move went flawlessly. Everything that was in Sonic's court was a disaster.

I ended up finding a company to do it within my time frame for $1700 after calling in a favor from a friend. If you need your vehicle moved, call United Road.

I would never use Sonic again--but I feel like the entire industry isn't much better.

They give you a low quote, and then of course they can't find a driver at that price, so a few days before your pickup you get a text from a "driver" that he was in an accident. Then they try to get you to pay the actual market rate for the move plus more money so they can generate a profit. These guys are a bunch of scammers. Stay away. Use a company that actually has vehicles. I found one that does regular routes. You have to drop off your car at a depot and then pick it up in a parking lot at a predetermined time.

Service cost: $650

This is what going to happen if you are dealing with this Sonic auto transports!!

Mark my words!!

1) They give you a low quote (you are happy to see the quote)

2) You sign the contract with all the info, pickup delivery address etc

3) You are happy that the shipping your car is taken care of. (nightmare is about to begin)

4) They say they will charge around $200 at pickup from the credit card and rest to be paid in cash to the driver upon delivery. (sounds fair)

5) They send a link and keep your credit card on file (trouble begins)

6) You put the credit card on their system ( you are now trapped!!)

7) You will try calling them a day or two before to confirm the pickup and get the driver details ( Real hard to get them connected. After lot of attempts they will give you the driver details may be a day before the pickup. But driver will not answer that number.)

8) On the day of pickup you will try calling all your contacts. The initial rep , Sonic customer care , Driver.. But no one will answer your call. If some one answers, they will just say there is a small delay and they will update you in half hour or so.. (THEY DIDNT SHOW UP ON THE PICKUP DATE AND DID NOT EVEN CALL ME)

9) Next day morning they will call you and tell that the truck broke down. But they have managed to find another driver and a truck. But the new driver is charging $250 more.

Now it is the 11th hour and I am left with no other option.

10) If you say you don't need their service now, they say they will charge you a cancellation fee of $200. (TRAP COMPLETE)

I don't know how this company got lot of positive reviews. Deciding to move my car with Sonic was a worst decision. It damaged my whole day with the unpleasant conversation I had with their reps over the phone.

PLEASE MOVE WITH COMPANIES WHICH YOUR FRIENDS ALREADY MOVED WITH AND HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH

DO NOT JUST GO BY THE POSITIVE REVIEWS. (Just like I did )

Sonic was excellent in moving my car from Michigan to Florida. My representative Tim and his team ensured that I understood the process from start to finish. Tim's experience and excellent communication ensured a successful move. We had an issue with the driver of the delivery vehiclenot informing me of a delay and the Sonic team persevered and talked me through their efforts to get in touch with the driver. Ultimately, the vehicle was delivered in great shape and on budget. If I need to move another vehicle, I will definitely reach out to Sonic! Thanks Tim.

This is a very competitive business and after contacting many brokers (they are all brokers) I finally felt I had found the Diamond in the rough. Kate w/Sonic was honest, timely, communicative and efficient. She worked tirelessly for days and days to find a transport service that would work within my budget and timeline to get my truck from Tampa to Phoenix.. and she came through! The driver that picked up my 4runner was personable, professional and after he back my 4runner on the transport truck, he put up my window shades.. and I didn’t even ask him to! 5 stars for Kate and for the transport driver! Trust you vehicle to Kate and Sonic. You’ll be glad you did! And no I didn’t get paid to write this! But I WILL be posting this across multiple platforms!
