Montway Auto Transport

I have now shipped or received six different cars over the past several years. Fortunately for me, none of them was a complete disaster, but every shipping event was at best a "C+" experience. Everything from transport drivers who could barely speak English to remarkably poor estimates of delivery time, every experience was lacking. Until this past week when I arranged shipping a BMW from Atlanta to southwest Michigan. I made those arrangements with Montway Transportation via their internet site, forked over the 30% down payment, and hoped for the best.

That's EXACTLY what I got.. THE BEST! I placed my order on Thursday. On Friday, they assigned a trucker. Early Sunday morning, he picked up the car in Atlanta, after accommodating the car-seller's need for a 6:15am pickup so he could make it to church). And at 10:30pm delivered it to Michigan THE SAME DAYI (No kidding!) In between, I used Montway's online chat feature to get a phone number for the driver. He (Christian is his name) and I spoke three times as he made his way north. And he spoke English, was thoughtful and courteous on the phone and in person, and was a hard worker. And, yes, I tipped him, in addition to paying the balance in cash.

I know this review sounds like someone at Montway wrote it, but that's not the case. I've [EDIT] at poor service plenty of times and with plenty of venom. When a company comes through and really delivers FIVE**STAR SERVICE, they deserve congratulations, and my thanks.

Montway Auto was the best to work they scrambled to get me a carrier and kept in contract until that was accomplished. We were assigned to Teo Meridian Trucking transported. He took the upmoset care with our two cars and his expertiece was without faulyt and he showed genuine care concern for the safety of our cars. Teo has a great personality which lessen the stress of the entire move Could not have had a better experience all around and would highly recommend Montway Auto and Teo Meridain with out hesitation.

I moved cross country from Maryland to California, and needed to bring my car. Montway initially led me to believe that I would have to wait 9 days to receive my car in my new home, however (to my surprise) it arrived in 5 days flat.. door to door service with no complications whatsoever. Extremely nice and personable drivers who care about your vehicle and schedule. 10/10 would definitely recommend to a friend, coworker, or honestly anybody who needs car transportation services.

Montway Auto Transport did a fine job getting our car transported from upstate New York to Southern California. The car was picked up on time, delivered on the date promised, and, other than some grime, arrived in good shape.
I do have a complaint, however, about the $75 additional fee which I paid for top-loading on the auto transport trailer. It turned out that our car was transported by train across the country so there was no need for it to be protected from road hazards! I did not learn this from Montway, however, but from the shipper. Had I known the car would be transported by train, I would not have paid the additional fee. When I asked Montway for a refund, they refused.
It turned out that this was $75 down the drain for another reason as well. The top-loading which the customer pays for ONLY APPLIES TO THE MAIN SHIPPER NOT TO THE LOCAL TRANSPORT, something Montway is not forthright about on their website. Montway also neglected to inform us that they have a very expansive understanding of “local transport.” The terminal from which the cross-country train left was in Kearny, New Jersey – 150 miles from Albany, New York where we met the local driver. (I learned this information from the shipper not from Montway who gave me a number of evasive and/or incorrect answers during several discussions.) Our car was placed on the lower level on the small auto transport trailer even though it had an upper deck for one car and we had paid for top-loading.
To make a long story short, on the 150 miles out of the 3000 plus mile trip when top-loading would have been useful, our car didn’t get it even though we had paid for this option. A complete waste of money!

Montway is just terrible. They have a nice website with live chat and a cheap quote. I was a sucker to take that bait. The service is terrible. They are broker who send out listing to the driver but they don't actually call driver to book the assignment. They just wait for driver to call them. Minimum to zero efforts on Montway part. I booked an order 4 days ago and told them I have an urgent need to have the car picked up in 4 days with no exception. As a sales tactic, they promised they could do it. A day before the pick up time, I contacted them to see if a driver has been assigned because the deadline is a day away. They promised they would do it and I am their top priority. Again, I am a fool to believe it! On the day of deadline, I contacted Montway again for the status. With less than 5 hours to deadline, they promise to work on assigning a driver. Well, bullsh*t!! I called another transportation company and a driver was assigned within an hour because this new transportation company actually put me on hold to call/find a driver. Now that is what I call awesome customer service, unlike Montway. Once that is booked, I canceled Montway. I advised you not to use Montway. They only make promises and doesn't follow through. I wish they would be more upfront and honest about their service instead making promises they can’t fulfill. I would have understand if they told me early enough that they don’t have a driver. I would be okay with it and will use their service next time. But instead, they making promises that they can’t fulfill. I will never use Montway again or recommend it. Don’t use Montway, don't be a sucker!!

My wife and I were relocating to Arizona from New York, and being that this is my first major move that was not taken care of by the military, I was a little nervous. After reading some reviews of Montway online, I decided to give them a shot at transporting my Toyota Tacoma.
This has to be the easiest process I have ever done, I just filled out the online form, and three days before pickup I received a call that my truck would be picked up. The driver stayed in contact with me up to the minute he picked up my truck. Delivery was incredibly fast, I was shocked when the driver called and said my truck would be delivered so soon. I actually had to make arrangements to get cash it arrived so fast.
My truck arrived in great condition and the driver was very nice and friendly.
I would definitely use this service again.

I arranged with Montway to ship my car from Duluth, MN to Miami, FL. I made it very clear to their rep that I needed the car delivered by Thursday, October 10th. He indicated that that would be no problem, so I agreed to use their services.
The sales representative indicated that a contract carrier would pick up the car on Thursday, October 3rd. When I contacted the rep that evening, he had no comment about why the car had not been picked up, but he verbally reconfirmed that the requested delivery date of Thursday, October 10th was absolutely no problem.
The driver finally arrived three days late, on Sunday, October 6th. Montway informed me that the earliest delivery date would be Sunday, October 13th, three days late. I informed him that that was unacceptable due to the fact that the car was needed for business on that Sunday. He contacted the carrier and informed me that they could deliver the car on Saturday, the 12th, for an additional $50.00. Having no viable option at this point, I had no reasonable choice but to proceed with the increased fees.
Montway already was the most expensive option I reviewed, however it appeared that they did have a good track record. I am very unsatisfied with the scheduling aspects and false promises of Montway. On a positive note, the carrier was very professional and I had full faith in him to deliver my car safely..which he did.
I understand that logistics can be challenging at times, especially when a small market like Duluth is involved, however that is no excuse for the misinformation that I received. I am hoping that this review will help Montway to consider the parameters that it can and cannot control, and make better attempts to limit promises that they may not be able to keep.

Classic bait and switch, they had my car booked for 5 days before anything was even done, and the only reason they even did anything was because I called for a update and when I did I was not assisted at all, blown off and treated like trash. I called back and asked for a manager, I spoke to Joe who I suggested should review their recorded message for training purposes and train his associates. In the end someone else called me and said they could pick up my vehicle that day but it would be a extra $160.00, they had already wasted 5 days. I said yes, but I expressed to them that I was not happy. In the end I did not even get a apology fro the inferior customer service. Do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere you will be treated right.

I was just contacted asking if I would edit my review, I informed the customer relations manager that his phone call did not fix there horrible service. He offered nothing in the form of compensation for the bait and switch the played on me. Seems like he was more concerned with their rating than their customers.

I was happy to book through Montway. They took the work out of comparing vendors and found me a move that suited my timeline and budget. On the receiving end of my move, the car delivery company tried to tell me that I needed to pick my car up from their lot, even though I had contracted for door-to-door delivery. As soon as I told them I was going to follow up with Montway, they fell in line and agreed to deliver the vehicle. The transport companies need to maintain their reputation with Montway, or else they will stop getting referrals. I was glad to have Montway in my corner!
