Montway Auto Transport

Unexpected charges. Late pickup. Noncommunicative. Poor service. The agents and customer service were incredibly helpful and kind. However, they outsource their pickup/delivery and that's where there's mistakes. They promise door-to-door delivery, yet requested us to meet them across town at a Costco to drop off the car. You can pay extra to ensure they pick up on a certain day (within a timeframe), but don't worry... that won't happen. They will be late and not communicate (the next day when we were departing on a plane). After rescheduling pickup and verified service delivery, they under deliver by surprising you with an inconvenient drop-off location (so much for door-to-door) and an additional fee (wait what?!). You're told that the car can be shipped with cargo (as long as it does not go above the window line). But rest assured, you'll be told unexpectedly to pay a $150 cargo fee at transport. I would not recommend this transporting service. Even after having caring agents and confirmed alternative services (due to their error), they still inconvenienced the customer.

Always find out the name of the actual carrier company that Montway sets you up with, and research for reviews of that actual carrier ahead of the actual pickup of your auto. Our car was going from Florida to Michigan. Neither the driver or Montway contacted us about the cars movements. Montway sent us a text the day after it was to be delivered stating the driver would be a day late or dot dot dot. We had tracked the car via GPS while it was on transport. But then it was in the same location for this 2 days after Montway texted. My husband looked up the address, it was a towing/impound service. He called the company, they said the car had been totaled. The transport driver did not lower the upper rack on the carrier and he hit a railroad overpass. Our car was on top, and the car roof was sheared off by the overpass. Our car fell on another car below and then into the road where it was hit by a passing motorist. The police wrote areckless driving ticket to the driver,and he continued on his way. We have not heard from the driver now 2 weeks after. We called Montway and they had not heard from the driver either other than the day of the accident when he told them he would be running behind at least one day, he did not tell them about the accident. Montway does not have responsibility for the wrecked car but did refund to us their $299 fee. We have had no luck contacting the carrier involved. Our own auto insurer sent the car to selvage, and will be deal with the auto carrier company the driver drove for. Always check out the transport company ahead of time. I did after the fact and they had 4 bad reviews for car damage, and 2 positive reviews, one of which was from our driver! So go figure that one out. I’m not sure how Montway checks out the transport companies they use, but I don’t think it was thorough enough, hence the 2 star review.

The only reason I am giving Montway Auto Transport 1 star is because I did eventually receive my cars, and other than a dead battery, they were in the shape I was expecting. They failed to deliver within the 48 hour window they indicated. Much of my disappointment is with Montway’s lack of, or seemingly intentional inaccurate communication provided to me. The most difficult was being told by the driver he would arrive at a certain time but not show up and not call to indicate his schedule shifted. I am a reasonable person and asking for communication about promised delivery times is not an unreasonable expectation, heck it is just common courtesy. I understand that giving an exact day and time is not possible given all the variables involved in across-country transport; however, providing inaccurate information ongoing is beyond disrespectful. The original delivery was Tues or Wed but when both of those days came and went, I had to call them to find out what was happening. Then being told we will be there Wed at 7:30 pm but again to no avail- they did not arrive- again no call to me so I had to contact them because I am sitting in the parking lot of a public location to receive the cars (I live in the mountains and roads will not accommodate semis) and being told “sorry will can be there at 10 pm instead”. Because of the late hour we agreed on deliver the following day no later than 11:30am. No surprise 11:30 came and went and my call to the driver again gave a “sorry, I will be there at 1:00”… wouldn’t you know it, no cars at 1:00. They finally arrived at 1:30. After being misinformed and lied to three times, I contacted a supervisor and they apologized for the ongoing inconvenience but could do nothing for me. I paid $3000 to get two cars from RI to CO and was required to take three days off work to be available to meet the driver. I found this entire experience unprofessional and unacceptable! Montway Auto Transport lied to me not once, not twice, but three times. So because the only thing management can provide is an apology, coupled with poor communication (and most of the time no communication), and unprofessional staff (along with the requirement of me sitting in a public parking lot for a total of 9 hours) is why this company deserves ZERO stars.

Absolutely do not use this company. They are a nightmare to deal with. We paid for guaranteed pick up and the day before the pick up they told us no one has been assigned so if no one picks up the job they will just refund us. We were only in town for 2 days and had no time to book with another company. After spending the day on the phone dealing with terrible customer service we finally got someone assigned. Now the car has been sitting in storage for almost a week and they said they have no clue when someone will actually pick up the job for transfer. We were told we would have the car in 7-9 days. They say one thing to get your money and then they are a train wreck to deal with. DEFINITELY DO NOT USE THEM!!! THEYRE AWFUL.

   I just finished my auto-transport by Montway Auto Transport yesterday. In general, this is a pleasant experience.
This is my first time of using auto transport service. I found this company by searching around the car transport companies online and paid additional attention to the reviews. After the careful comparison, I decided to book the service through Montway Auto Transport. I paid $780 for a domestic transport of my Nissan sedan from Georgia to Colorado.  
The moving company communicated with me quite well through email and phone. The company informed me about the availability of car transport 24 hours in advance. On the day of pickup, the truck driver called me 1 hour before the actual pickup. To my surprise, the driver managed to drive the truck into my local apartment complex, which makes it convenient for me to give him the car. In only two days, my car was delivered safely to the destination. The receiver was also happy with the car condition. I only booked the “open” transport. There are no obvious additional dusts or damages to the vehicle.

Service cost: $780

Overall great experience. Customer service was great, they kept me informed of the whereabouts of my car the entire process. It did take 2 days longer than the original projection, but they warn you that it is only an estimate up front. They have a customer service line, a dispatch line, and you can contact the trucker moving your car directly. The car was dirty upon arrival, but it had just travelled across the country in an open carrier, I wasn't expecting it to be pristine. I just wheeled through a car wash and that was taken care of. Door to door delivery from Dallas to Pittsburgh for $600. Great service at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend.

I needed to arrange pick up a luxury vehicle in Illinois and deliver to Plattsburgh, New York. I was to meet the driver to unload the vehicle and take it accross the border myself for the importation into Canada. Montway mentioned initially that there were not alot of truck traffic heading that far north at this time of the year but they would do thier best. They quoted me $750, cheaper than any where else I had checked. Within a few days they informed me that the car was ready to be picked up and that it would be in Plattsburgh on the agreed upon date. I was thrilled with the response in theory but now was the true test, whether the car would truly get there on time and without damage. I was sent informative emails during the course of the trip by Montway letting me know the progress and when the car would arrive at my end. I picked up the car today, ON TIME, in PERFECT CONDITION. Thanks Montway. I would definatley use your company again when needed.
