Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

Bad moving company.

Well lets just say fred at sale will give you a quote and whatever that price is you times that times 5 and that is what you will pay. the movers alex picked a small dresser up and dropped a drawer out of it and it hit the floor, alex picked up the drawer and put it back in the dresser as I was watching him and he didn't say anything. I told him you know that was broken by the fall and he stated no. I will say when we got our stuff we were missing boxes and a lot of things damaged and broke , they say you pay for insurance well that is a joke I started a law suit. please avoid at all cost.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Los Angeles, CA

Excellent experience!

Was very worried after hearing about moving company horror stories - items getting stolen, broken, hidden fees, etc.We happy to say it was the apposite side on my move.
Three people showed up in New York, we lived on the fourth floor with no elevator, that wasn't a problem for these guys. Straight up pros, great works who never complained once, they worked like machines. They got the job done in a few short hours and were on their way. Same story with the movers that showed up in California.
All our items arrived safely in CA in a little over a week with no damage, not a single broken dish. The guys who delivered our belongings were also friendly and handled our belongings carefully while working at a good pace.

Tip: when you deal with the office, try to talk to the same person each time. If you don't, the new customer service rep will have to read through your account notes to figure out what's going on with your move.
I read good and bad reviews about Xpress ,I unhesitatingly would recommend them to all my friends.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Louisiana

Terrible, terrible, terrible.

This company actually committed a number of complaint worthy things. First off, over the phone, they told my aunt that the cost of moving my belongings from New Jersey to Louisiana would be a little over $1,000, but on the day of the move, the men who took the belongings charged her over $2,000, half of which she was expected to pay on the spot, even though the items were already loaded on the truck. They also tried to intimidate and threaten her since she was the only person at the time of delivery. In addition, while moving the items, they left a hole in her apartment wall and have refused to pay for it, even after my aunt reported it to their manager and even faxed an invoice of the bill for repairs to the company. Then, when they got to Louisiana, they called me a day before delivering the items, even though they were supposed to give me a three day notice. The movers were not very professional and left without setting up all the items they had previously dissembled, even though they were supposed to do that. Also, it has taken me some time to get fully unpacked and I realized that there are two boxes worth of items missing, including expensive comforter sets and a professional iron. The reason I just figured it out is because they purposefully made the inventory sheet very confusing and on the day of delivery they hurriedly unloaded the items and left just as quickly as they arrived. I have tried to call to make a complaint, but nobody in the office cared to handle the situation.

Local move within New York

Xpress moving.

The movers were extremely careful and professional. They handled everything so carefully and made an extremely stressful situation quite manageable. They were on time and the estimates they gave were accurate. If there were any miscellaneous items (in terms of cost) they were very quick to give me a head's up early on. I would recommend them to anyone who needs to move.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Georgia

Was quoted twice as much.

My orginal quote for the was for $3, 000. They showed up with a small truckto load everything. When my things were delivered they were broken up even though they were wrapped and packed. The boxed had stuff spilled all over it. Glasses that were part of my dining room set was broken into pieces. They stole tools from my tool box that was packed already. Broke drinking glasses and kicked a hole in my entertainment unit.

Caution !!

CAUTION!! DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! UNPROFESSIONAL!! LATE!! UNRELIABLE!! POSSIBLY CRIMINAL!!   I don't usually write reviews, but I feel I should share my experience so you don't make the same mistake.   So it's been 16 days since they picked up my belongings (18 hour drive move).  So far I have no idea where my stuff is or when they are going to deliver.  I'm sleeping on an air mattress, and my home is completely empty other than what I brought in a suitcase, and the things I've had to purchase to replace what may or may not be on the way.   The communication has been terrible. It's completely unprofessional on every level. When I call, I get the run around.  When I call the main office, first I get "you have to speak with the dispatcher, and he stepped out of the office, call back later." I waited all day to speak with him, he then said "you have to call the driver".  When I call the driver, no one answers, the voicemail greeting just says a name in a heavy accent then cuts to the beep.  I've left 6 messages over 2 days without a return call.   As far as the estimate,   I told Fred exactly what I had, down to the small chair and the exact number of boxes.  After pickup and loading, his estimate was off by about 40%.  When they got there, I got a kind suggestion to tip at least 15%.  which puts the actual amount about 60% more than the detailed estimate.  I don't know how this company has any positive reviews and I'm questioning whether any of these are real, and if this company is even legitimate.  At this point, I have no indication that my things have not been stolen and sold to pawn shops.   I'm completely dissatisfied with this move and this company.  It's turned out to be disaster, I can't get on with moving in, unpacking, or even sitting down at my own home.  They offer no apology, no sympathy, no recourse, just "call back later", or "call this other person".  They've taken so long, that I don't have days off anymore to unpack and I'll have to do it before or/after work.  I've had visitors, and in my home I don't even have a couch/chair/television/bed/sheets/extra bath towel.  It's embarrassing.     In summary, I've paid a huge amount of money, I don't know where my stuff is or when it's coming, and I get the run around when I call.  I have no leverage or negotiating power at this point.  Please don't make the same mistake as I did by using this company. .

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Connecticut

Avoid Xpress for multiple reasons.

Avoid Xpress. The telephone salesman was at multiple points either deliberately omitting certain costs, and at one point just plain lied. The loaders were friendly enough, but one of their acts was so unprofessional to be worth mentioning. I will also explain a problem with their general policy.
Problems with the telephone salesman (Josh):
He quoted me a price for my move from Princeton to New Haven, based on a "travelling-time estimate" of 3 hours. An important point he failed to mention is that this "travelling-time estimate" was for a one-way trip, and you had to pay more ($115 per hour) for both legs of the journey. In the end, I was billed for 5.5 hours of travelling.
After giving me an initial quote of $690, in his words, "the only other cost that hasn't been included" is the price of road and bridge tolls, which he claimed was "about $100". The actual toll price turned out to be $207. Other costs not mentioned on the phone, but you will have to deal with:1) They make you sign a document stating that you will pay for any parking tickets they incur.2) Tip for the movers, generally expected to be 15-20%.
There was a misunderstanding where the salesman thought he conveyed that the movers would arrive at 9am, but I thought he meant that they would start driving off their base at 9am , and would arrive at my place at 10am plus. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, this could have been an honest misunderstanding, since I do not recall the exact words that were exchanged.  However, the moving company had a zero tolerance for misunderstandings, and were completely unsympathetic. At one point, the salesman was shouting into the phone "are you saying it's my fault?" They offered an ultimatum: either we take your deposit and cancel the move, or we'll charge you $115 per hour till you finish packing.
Problem with the loaders:
These were friendly loaders (led by foreman Alex), however one of their acts was so unprofessional that it soured my impression of them. They agreed to move two of my lamps, and indeed they carried them into the truck. What they failed to tell me is that they unscrewed three of my lamp bulbs and tossed them into my car, without my permission. I only found out about the bulbs after the move.
Problem with general policy:
They have a policy to charge $250 if you make an "additional stop". I was particularly incredulous because I had stuff to unload from both home and office, which were separated by 5 minutes of driving. Such details were irrelevant to the moving company, and it was a painful policy to learn on the actual day of the move.

Long-distance move from New York to Georgia

Very poor experience.

I highly recommend NOT going with this company. Read up on moving scams before using any mover. We chose them to move from Brooklyn to Atlanta because they had the lowest estimate. It turned out that they had the lowest estimate because they weren't going to honor it - and charged us double. The worst part was how nerve racking they made the experience. They promised delivery in about a week, verbally. When it didn't show up in a week, I called, and they said it would be another day or two. Every time I call they give me the run around and then eventually say it will be a day or two. Repeat this process for another two weeks, not knowing where all of my belongings were or whether I would see them again. When everything arrived, it was in fairly good condition. My golf clubs were missing and some small parts of a bookshelf which made the shelf useless. At that point, I was just glad to have most of my stuff.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to New York

Worst movers ever!!

Do not use this company!! They broke everything !! Nothing was wrapped correctly, everything arrived broken !! I expressed to them before the move that I had very expensive fragile items! I was assured for the extreme amount of money I paid for the few items that were moved, this would be done!
Upon arriving, and paying full in cash, everything was broken!! They did not offer to replace or fix any item, I had to put in a claim form that took a year to be offerred pennies!! When asked for a refund for an inadequate move they refused !! This is the worst moving company ever!!
