World Wide Van Lines

Horrible, dishonest company that I had the misfortune to ever deal with in my entire life. You will not pay more with another reliable company like Bekins or Mayflower. Worldwide Van Lines gives you an attractive quote then sells your order to national mover who comes into your home, jacks the price up between $800 - $2000 per cubic ft. for climbing a few stairs, wrapping blankets, tapes which by the way is in the quote already.; then turns around and sells your order to Cardinal Movers. All my things came in very bad condition, lamps broken, mirrors and vases broken. My ladder, a very expensive carpet, tools boxes and a whole lot of things simply disappeared. It's so sad, it may not mean anything to the movers but they are my priced possessions and mean a lot to me and my kids. They picked my things up 2 days later than the actual pick-up date after so many phones calls; then delivered my household goods 29 days later, after I had threatened to report them to the police. They behave like a fly by night company, no morals, no values, no pride in doing their job. The so called manager Darly Lawson with Worldwide Van Lines never returns calls and is always away from his desk or at lunch. The dispatcher named David Anderson from National Movers told me a set of lies every time I had called. He even lied that they do not have a tracking devise and cannot locate my goods until the driver calls in. It was my worse nightmare and moving experience. I have moved overseas from Malaysia/Singapore/Hong Kong and had a very good smooth experience and not a single thing was damaged or broken. But with Worldwide Van Lines, National Movers, never, never!! Pay more, but never go thru this nightmare with these unethical, dishonest crooks. Worldwide Van Lines LLC, and National Movers should be shut down.

I asked to be taken off of their phone and email list numerous times, and finally got nasty on the phone today. Once I hung up, I had 10, yes 10, emails immediately from Susan. The same email. Clearly attempting to press my buttons. I replied that I had told her I was not interested, and due to their disrespect and lack of consideration when calling numerous times a day, at all hours of the day, that I would use a moving company that cost double before I ever used them. I got this gem in return:

"I'm sorry you feel the way you do. If you would have sent an email letting me know that you were NOT INTERESTED a while back, I would have removed you from our list. You never told me that you were NOT INTERESTED. Thank you so much for your unvalued opinion though. Good luck.

Good to see that the potential customer's feedback is unvalued! As I said, I told her many times that I wasn't interested. Either she is horrible at her job/checking emails or she just doesn't care! There's a reason that every single person who reviews gives this poor excuse for a company one star!

I recently moved from Minnesota to Arizona. I was originally told by my rep at World Wide Van Lines that they use their own fleet of trucks and that my stuff was going to be loaded on one of their big semi-trucks. When the movers showed up (Dependable Movers) there were two guys (one in his late 60's!) driving a little Budget rent-a-truck.

About 2/3 of the way through loading up my stuff they ran out of space on the truck. There is no way that should have happened as I sent World Wide a detailed inventory of everything being moved. The two guys then told me that they were NEVER TOLD of the estimated weight or shown the inventory list. All they were apparently told was that it was a small apartment. True it was, but it was jam packed with 6000 lbs of stuff!

The two guys ended up putting some of my stuff into a local public storage unit (at their expense) and told me it would follow 1 week later. Well I am writing this review almost 3 weeks later I have yet to see the balance of my stuff!

When my original load of items did arrive at my new home, there were countless cracked plastic totes, crushed boxes, broken items, dinged up furniture, and missing items that they were told specifically NOT to put in storage but to bring right away. To top it off, all the boxes and items were clearly marked as to what room they go in. Somehow, they still managed to misplace items in the wrong areas.

If you are looking to move, I highly recommend that your DO NOT go with World Wide Van Lines or Dependable Movers. I shopped around before choosing them, but was na.

My move was frustrating at every point after WWVM had my CC number. The movers promised 3 different delivery times along the way, prolonging the move every time. They finally showed up 5 days late at 1 am and demanded $1141.00 cash and said they would put my all of my possessions in storage at a charge of $40/day and that I might see them in a month if I did not pay (my contract was for $900.00 and my understanding was that my CC would be charged the balance.). They are a brokerage firm and have poor communication if any with the movers they hire. Once I paid WWVM my deposit I had no recourse with my contact person or dispatch when the delivery promises began to fall through. No one would return my phone calls. The two delivery men showed up in an old budget rent a truck, had to unpack someone else's possessions (looked like two or three bedrooms worth) on to my front lawn (again at 1 am) and then finally left at 3:30 am. Several items were damaged and several were never delivered. Do not use this company!

Three reasons not to use Worldwide:
1.  They underquoted us by over 2500 lbs., even though we told them we thought they were low.  However, they assured us that "they've been in this business a long time and knew what they were doing".  Right.  The move ended up costing us more money because the $/lb. is higher on the backend rather than if it was quoted as such up front. 
2.  They ended up having to put our goods on two trucks, with the second truck taking 21 days to arrive.  We originally told that we would have our goods in 7-10 days.  Not so. 
3.  On the second truck that took 21 days to arrive, our goods were taken somewhere, offloaded, stored in a non-climate controlled facility, reloaded and then finally delivered.  The high temps caused damage to some wood furniture pieces, and other had some damage due to multiple handlings (loading, unloading, reloading, and unloading again at our home).
4.  Cannot get them to send us a claim form for damages -- we have asked numerous times over the past two weeks for a claim form, but apparently they are not willing to send us one.  Therefore, we are having to resort to filing a small claims suit against Worldwide.  It isn't so much that the damages were huge, it's the principle of their just not responding at all to a customer request.
STAY AWAY FROM WORLDWIDE.  THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS, HAVE ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE IN BUSINESS.  PERIOD. .

Yes, they have wonderful quotes, and yes, the person you initially talk to sounds wonderful. Everyone sounds wonderful! Anita, in my case, sounded wonderful. After I paid the $500 deposit everything was terrible.Truthfully, this was my first big move. I'm not an expert and I should have been more thorough in my research. I guess it just seemed to me that NO moving company was loved by everyone or even anyone, so I figured it was sort of a coin toss. I was wrong, big mistake, don't make the same one. So there you have the acknowledgement of my own naiveté.I was moving from Madison, WI to Baltimore, MD. Everything was packed and ready to go, and despite the fact that there was not much that Worldwide Van Lines WOULD guarantee, Anita assured me that they would definitely pick up my items within a 48 hour window. That was a solid guarantee. Saturday June 29 or Sunday June 30. I was told by Anita that I would be given at least 24 hours notice before that weekend, so that I would know which day the movers would arrive. Specifically, she said: "If you don't hear from someone by Thursday, call me and I will help you."  This was the beginning of no one picking up the phone. Up to this point, everyone had called me back and kept me updated. Friday rolled around..no updates, so I called three or four times before their office closed at 4pm eastern, and finally someone picked up the phone.  "Saturday at noon," they said. "Okay," I said. And I also said "Thank you," because you should be nice to people driving your life across the country.My mom drove up from Milwaukee with all my leftovers from my hometown. We waited. I called at 2 pm. We waited. I kept calling. All of the phone numbers, which is only like two. Around 4 or 5, someone answered and said "That's weird, we have you down for Sunday at noon." Okay. To be clear, I did not mishear the pick-up date the first time. 0% chance of a mistake on my part. On Sunday, no one came. And no one picked up the phone. All day, no one picked up the phone. On Monday someone told me that there had been storm damage to the phone lines. There was no storm damage to the phone lines; I have internet access. At this point I was only threatening to cancel, because who am I going to hire at this juncture? They got me on the phone with a manager, who I don't remember, because this was June and we just got the deposit back today, in September. I said I will keep you if you guarantee to pick up my stuff tonight (she said sorry, Tuesday it is), and if you give me a discount. Because I was already violating the terms of my lease, which ended June 30. And then I cancelled, because stuff just wasn't sitting right with me? Duh, you say. Well, I'm 27 and a half now, not just 27. Lesson learned.Anyway, long story short, U-Haul is, in fact, totally wonderful if you can make the drive yourself. And their contracted moving helpers are wonderful. Smooth sailing once I kicked the clowns to the curb. Don't hire World Wide Van Lines. Shouldn't even be an option. .

Its been a day and a half since all our belongings left ND (2 days late). Received call from police. ..stating the guy driving the rented moving van..had no cdl license, his passenger has a revolved drivers license..no medical cards..no DOT numbers..no log books..etc. I told the police that after they left..they called and raised the price $8000. All we want is our stuff back. The police gave them fines of 1075$ and they can't leave SD until it is paid..they have the moving van locked up for least 24 hours..they forwarded everything to the attorney general. They said they are doing everything they can to they and help us get our stuff back even though it is a civil matter. They know its a scam. I am waiting for the police to call me back today to tell me what's going on. THEY ARE ONLY A BROKER!! they will contract your move out and usually to a poor company that is not licensed and insured even though they should be based on the contract but we found after that ours was not and had cancelled his insurance leaving us with damages and no recourse. The mover was late and the reason is they use the back roads to bypass the weigh stations and inspections. you will be pushed to pay more for every detail and even as we pushed back we were lucky and only paid based on the contract but the average person would have been scammed. Be very cautious on using them, they lie, and will take your money and wont want to talk with you ever again. the reason they don't accept credit cards at pickup and delivery is because you can't dispute cash and their contract is written to fight the best merchant complaint. I would never use them again and hope no one else does either.
