Interstate moving could be a major ordeal. I had experienced it with my brother and his family, about a year ago and it was a mess for me! The company they hired couldn't have done any worse than they did.
When my good neighbor recommended united moving services to me, I hoped and prayed I did not end up with the kind of amateurs from my brother's time.
These guys did very well. They went the extra mile to ensure I had a pleasant experience. Great resources for a company that is barely 2 years old.

Service cost: $2000

United is an awful moving company, mostly because they don't move anything. They're a broker (which they go out of their way to hide from potential customers), so they sell your contract to one (or several) fly-by-night vendors, and then wash their hands of it. Chris, our salesperson, was very skilled at making promises that he knew he or his company absolutely could not keep, and in fact, our experience was that the exact opposite of everything he promised happened. Examples:
• He said that the team that loaded my truck would be the same team that unloaded it at our destination. This was not the case. It wasn’t the same team, or even the same vehicle. We dealt with 3 different companies, and our stuff was moved around at least 3 times.
• He said that our stuff would be kept in temperature controlled warehouses before and during transit. It wasn’t, and several boxes were wet, and poorly packed.
• He said it would be there in 5-7 business days. This was reiterated by the other people at United. Try 20.
• He said that there would be a maximum of two loads per truck. Our stuff arrived on a trailer with 6 other houses loaded in it, and some of our stuff was mixed in.
• He said that since he had been in the business for over 15 years he could accurately take an estimate over the phone, and if anything, he overestimated. he couldn’t, and can’t. Our load was 400 cubes over, based on his very professional estimate, and cost me 1000 more than originally estimated.

United is a scam company, using pressure sales tactics and outright lies to steal money from consumers. Don't make my mistake; do some research.

Unfortunately, I am just reading some of these reviews and am worried about my scheduled move.
I had talked with Don at United moving services back in September to schedule this move. He gave me what I thought was a competitive quote and I have made my deposit for this move. Now I find out that this is not a moving company per se, but, as others have stated, a broker.
I started to wonder about this when, as of this morning, I had not heard from anyone about the move which is scheduled for thisWednesday (or Perhaps Thursday-another odd thing about the scheduled move by this company that should have given me reason to do my research). I believe most moving companies schedule a move date and that IS the move date-not either/or days.
I am still waiting to hear from the REAL movers, about pick-up of my belongings! When I called United Moving Services, they said I would hear from the movers 24 hrs before. I travelled 13 hours by car to be here when the movers moved my stuff-now I am very worried.

Talking to the agent he told me to save my money and not buy
extra insurance that the trucker was covered. As I found out on the day of the move I could not purchase additional insurance had to be done with United Moving Service at least a week before pickup. This was NEVER relayed to me. The trucker's insurance is only $.60 per lb. What is that? Nothing! The mover they got for me lost my extra large box of all my purses, shoes and clothes. I am sick sick. How can a business operate like this. Never was able to talk to my agent again, he was always busy. This has been very depressing for me, all my clothing was in that box except the items I had in a small suitcase. I cry everyday, how could this happen. Plus I wasn't told they were a broker (United Moving Service), didn't find this out until the Unique Moving & Storage came and picked up my belongings in a Budget rental truck. Thought United Moving Service was the mover.
I was quoted a price and it was raised $500 from original to actual move.

BAIT AND SWITCH!! Hired them to move my daughter.  Gave an inventory of items and they gave me a low quote.  When the movers came, they charged me almost twice what the quote was.  They said it was for a long carry, extra cubic feet, and packaging.  Once you give them your credit card for the deposit, you cannot speak to your salesperson again.  Story is longer but BEWARE!   When I asked them about the bad reviews on Yelp, before giving my deposit, they said it was their competition bad mouthing them.  I am not their competition.  Just an unhappy customer!  Dont let it happen to you!

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this company. And that's a huge compliment because I'm a raging cynic. I don't claim to know a whole lot about the moving biz, but I know when my stuff arrives on time and in perfect condition.  The people I worked with were all professional (not the ones where you feel like they're going to "misappropriate" your valuables) and I watched them pack and handle my things with due care.  Hopefully I won't need to make another long distance move for a while, but if I do, I'm going to call these guys again. .

Have to add to the chorus of excellent reviews. The guys were outstanding. They'd respond to email within an hour at almost any time of day and were very professional and highly communicative throughout the process.
 
They were prompt at move in and delivery and were by far the most organized movers we have ever used. They brought their own mattress bag for our mattress and then wrapped the whole thing in canvas and plastic wrap on top of the bag. We have worked with a number of other movers before, but small things like that set this company apart.
 
Would absolutely use them again.

They will say anything to get your business. These guys are cheats. Quoted me 2400 for my move. Verified the inventory 10 times. The movers they sent was a no show. After three days the move shows up and says they don't do cubic feet and do weight. Plus they don't do the boxes these people made me pay for. I had no choice but to get my stuff out as my house was sold. I lost a 1000 bucks on top of that because of the lost time. I was roaming the streets with two young kids waiting for these idiots to show up. And finally when I called to request a discount for my ordeal (I had to pay double the amount quoted) they wouldn't connect me to the rep I was dealing with. They are unethical unprofessional and totally heartless people. Do not get suckered into the 5 start rating. I am not sure if this rating will make it or not. But if someone reads it,save yourselves. These people are bad. As bad as they come.

We moved from Atlanta to MN last month and used United Moving services and they did an excellent job.
Once we got a quote and date finalized then we went through a run-down of insurance options and a bit of information of how the process would work.On the day of the move the movers showed up on time and got right to work. They moved steadily (quickly might have meant broken items), seemed focused and barely stopped to talk. Two guys hauled stuff to the truck while the other packed it up carefully. They used moving blankets and necessary accessories for the furniture. The packing and loading was a success.  At the new location in MN my wife and I helped "direct traffic" at our new place so they knew where to put stuff. They put mats down on the hardwoods and were very careful about about dinging the walls. All of our stuff was placed where we wanted it to be, they were steady and focused, and we woke up with no sore backs the next day. I never like to spend large sums of money, BUT, this was a time where I was happy because it was well spent. I would definitely go with UMS again.  .

I had to shift with my husband for his business purpose.But I m very tensed about the shipment.Then my husband helped me to find out the Excellent moving company that is united moving service.They are awesome.They are low cost,very efficient and very helpful for them who are moving very long distance.I seriously love the service of them.Actually The worker were careful,organized and extremely professional.They were also friendly.They were on time,fast and very honest.
