Liars and thiefs

First of all I was lied to by Sam Cohen, the representative for US Standard Moving. When the movers came to get my belongings I was charged more than 100% than what I was quoted. The movers actually stated that "these reps" don't know what they are doing. I had to leave belongings that I really wanted to keep because I could not afford the sudden increase in cost. Then after they picked up my belongings, my daughter, notme, gets an email stating it will be $495 more because they cann't deliever to her address which is in the country with a huge U driveway. I have called Sam Cohen who will not respond, their customer service who will not respond and I have called the number on the email multiple times with no answer except for music. This is a total nightmare and I am concerned that I will never see my belongings again. For your sanity do not use this company they have zero intergrity.

Move from Vermont to North Carolina

Do not ever use this company. It is a broker that promises you everything to get the sale and nothing is fulfilled. My tuck was 5 days late and then promised to deliver within 7 days of pick up. I am on my 8th day waiting and just found out my trucking company it will be another week and a half before I see my clothes and my furniture. This is a service oriented industry and their service sucks!!!

I would rate extremely poor if that was available

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Hampton, VA

Unsatisfied

I'm extremely frustrated. The movers contracted for my move from Los Angeles- Virginia arrived at my home at 6 pm last night. Showed up and request an additional $2,000 on top of my already quoted price. The crazy thing is, I have way less stuff than what was quoted-- you know why? Because I shipped my car on Wednesday and added all of my luggage and a few other items to my vehicle.

Not only would no one respond to any of my numerous calls last night, but my items are also still in my apartment. This is the worst experience I have ever encountered with movers.

American Standard Movers

This company is the worst! They quoted a price. We came to terms. A week before, they called. The price went up. I agreed. I suspected fraud. I tried to call them and was NEVER able to get an answer. The day of the move, I got a call from Instamovers. Didn't know the, but American Standard sub contracted to Instamovers! When they got at my house, I had to pay Instamovers $2500 before they would load. Had to pay becauseI had to get to my new house. When the got to the new house had to pay another $2500. Instamovers lost some things and broke an antique and still waiting for them to pay. It's a scam!! Any lawyers want help me? Worst moving company ever! I still can't get them to answer!! Use any mover EXCEPT AMERICAN STANDARD, AND INSTAMOVERS!!

Long-distance move from Memphis, TN to Dallas, TX

Don’t waste your time. I beg you!

This has been the most horrific experience I have every had with a move.

Ty- worked with me to get me a quote which seemed reasonable and explained that they could make any price. Confirmed my date for 12/17. On 12/16 three people called to go back over my move and confirm inventory. Mind you we only discussed items (no cubic feet was discussed) only items. Remember that.

After each call on 12/16 I asked was this my window call and they said no you would receive a call between 4pm-6pm with your pick up window. At 5:55pm I reached back out to Ty via text message saying I had not heard back on my window.

Ty said it should be from 11-1 but let him do I leave check. I did not hear back that night.

The next morning 12/17- MOVING DAY. I called the number you called me to verify/confirm everything. I got Mia. Mia said let her cal me back I’m 15 minutes once she got back to the office. An hour goes by no call so I call her. She says I’m not on the schedule foe today. I explain this is a domestic violence issue and I was trying to be out while no one was home as I had family drive up 6 hours and rented hotel rooms and extra trucks. Ashley her boss got on the phone rude as hell and said they could not help me.

I have never worked in the moving business but have worked in customer service all my life for a major hotel chain and when you screw up you “make it right” for your customer. Even if they means you hitting the bullet and calling another hotel or buddy in your industry to take care of the customer.

Long story short they could not help me.

Friday comes I get a call that the truck “broke down” and they could not come until Saturday but was told on Friday they would be there at 8:00pm

They did not arrive until 1:00pm and then said based on the civil sq feet they could not load all of my things. NO ONE MENTIONED ANY CUBIC SQUARE FEET WITH ME EVER IN ANY OF OUR COMMUNICATION.

PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They do not care about you or your situation. No had a 4 day move. This is not my first move. You finalize a date and that’s it.

If anything get the quote from them and have someone match it. I am free to discuss any further information used but it’s not worth using them at all. Poor customer service, no empathy to domestic violence, rude and disrespectful for their [EDIT] ups. Stay far away. And if I am lying on any of this I am happy to post the screenshots to match.

Scammers

SCAMMERS - don't get sucked in!

I read the reviews and thought I understood the tradeoffs. Yes, they're a broker, which means I was taking a risk the company they contracted with wasn't great, but US Standard was on the hook for the move at the end of the day, right? Wrong.

I went through an inventory of items with their sales person, then again on multiple calls ahead of the move with their support team, and was feeling cautiously optimistic heading into moving day.

The movers that arrived waited until they had packed everything into their truck before demanding $8k for our move- an additional $5k on top of our quote. They claimed we had 1500 cubic feet of items from a storage unit that could hold a max of 1200. That's not up to interpretation- it's math.

US Storage claims we cancelled our contract by sending these scammers away, and under no circumstances will refund our deposit- despite the fact that we now have to move the items ourselves.

If their rates are too good to be true, it's because they are. They will underquote you and you'll be left holding the bag to pay the exorbitantly higher price, or forfeit your deposit. Don't get sucked into using this unscrupulous broker!

US Standard moving and storage

This was the worst company. They lied and gave me an estimate, then subbed the job out. The price doubled and the sub contractor showed up in a truck too small to move my household goods out of state. Now, everything sits in storage while the sub tries to find a semi truck. US Standard breached the contract. The sub didn't show up until a day after my move was supposed to happen and then they were ill equipped for the move and couldn't move a gun safe we contracted for and I will sit in an empty house for 10 days at least. Don't use this company. They suck and have no scruples or morals. May God judge all their ruthless employees.

Long-distance move from Boston, MA to Austin, TX

Horrible. Don’t bother.

Truly the worst customer experience I have ever had. First and foremost you should know that this is not a company, rather a broker. This is my first move cross country. The price was right and they would move things in and out. Awesome! I signed the contract and done. They told me I had 30 days of free storage. I needed to call to change the date of the pickup end my move a month out, to avoid the storage fee. When I did they said “don’t worry about it. There will be no extra fees so you don’t need to move the pickup date.” Sounded funny and didn’t think it was right so I called back a week later and they told me the same thing. I trusted them, but I regret it. Ok great. December 23rd pickup and February 26th drop off. Sounds perfect. Cut to a month later (Jan 29th) and I receive an invoice for storage fees. So I call the actual moving company (not these guys because HA they’re not the moving company) and they told me that because it’s been in storage more than a month, I’d have to pay the fee. Well I call my friends at US Standard moving and tell them the story. The customer service rep speaks and finishes her statement. Like there was a pause. And I begin talking and she throws out a “can you let me finish my sentence? I wasn’t done speaking.” She then proceeds to be incredibly snippy and rude and gives me a serious attitude. The company should be shut down immediately. Do yourself a huge favor and don’t book anything with them. They will not be helpful and their customer service is the absolute worst.

Worst Company I have ever Used

I have moved several times within the past 10 years and this is by far the worst company I have ever worked with. I would give them a 0 if I could. To start off, US Standard is a broker, meaning they outsource to the cheapest movers they can find. Additionally, this means they can avoid any sort of liability from any damages or mishaps during your move. Although this is communicated in the fine print of the binding estimate, they do not verbally communicate this to you during the initial sale. The website also boasts a 4.9/5.0 rating based on Movers.com and YellowPages.com but I wasn't able to find any reviews for US Standard & Movingon those sites. Their website also does not communicate that they are a broker and does not list out moving companies they use. We were not told who the moving company was (Moving Depot USA) until they showed up on moving day.

One of the sales points for US Standard was a price match adjustment up to $150. I sent the sales rep I worked with a cheaper quote from another moving company about 2 months before our actual move date. He responded with positive confirmation via email that he would make the adjustment. Another rep called me 2 days before our move date, and I asked him about the price match. He said that he had never heard of this and said he would look into it and call me the next day. That call never came. I called again the day after our move and left a message. No response. A few days after our move, I called the original sales rep to ask why we never got the price match and if we could be reimbursed the $150. We have in writing that he was going to perform this task. He BLOCKED our number. We were then on the phone with customer service who said that we could not be reimbursed for this because the move already occurred. Once again, the price match guarantee is in the binding estimate. The customer service rep told us she would call us back in 48 hours. We have yet to receive any communication.

I also urge people to go with a high-quality mover if possible. The movers that US Standard hired were absolutely terrible. They charged us $1,900 more than our estimate, even though we were very accurate with our inventory list (we don't have any items of non-standard sizes either). This estimate almost doubled the estimated cubic feet that our belonging would take up (from 517 cu ft to 950 cu ft). Once they packed up our belongings, they had us sign a revised binding estimate (for reference, the movers are supposed to give a quote before packing everything up to avoid holding your belongings "hostage"). The main mover was on a call with another customer who refused to pay (most likely because of the ridiculous price increase). He told his movers to unpack and leave the woman's belongings if she did not pay. We were scared that if we disagreed with the price then we would not be able to move that day (which we had to). They took us (and that lady) at a vulnerable/stressful moment (moving day) to get us to pay up.

The movers also managed to break almost every item that they packed. They do not cover damages to boxes that were packed by the owner (PBO). Upon inspection of our PBO boxes, there was no way that they made a good faith effort to transport our belongings with care. We understand that there will inevitably be jostling around in the truck, but our boxes look they were just simply thrown around. The boxes had giant gashes in them and some were delivered upside down. Some of the boxes marked as "heavy" were on the top of stacked boxes. We also had multiple items that were lost. In total, we had around $5,000 in total damage, which is astounding because we are in a 1 bedroom apartment. Again, both US Standard and the movers (Moving Depot USA) were able to avoid liability just because these boxes were packed by the owners (including our TV which was in a specialty TV box and our Peloton screen which was in the original packaging, Styrofoam included). The reason that the TV broke had nothing to do with our packing - there was a giant gash in the side of the box right where the screen cracked.

Our delivery movers were not better than our pick-up movers. One of the delivery movers showed up high on hard drugs, so the other movers had to take him home. They also never had us sign any inventory list or the bill of lading upon delivery. There was no reassembly at delivery which was included in the initial binding agreement. Additionally, the movers would not unload the truck until we paid almost $2,000 in cash. That's just another red flag that we overlooked.

I very much wish I moved everything myself instead of hiring these people. I truly think that US Standard is a scam of a company and schemes with the moving companies they hire.

Poor Communication and Customer Service, Too Many Companies involved

I thought I was hiring Budget Van Lines but ended up dealing with US Standard Moving and Storage. Once my furniture was picked up by another company (RoadRunners) that was contracted out, they tried to charge me more money even though Mike Spencer, from US Standard and Moving, assured me my inventory was within the price quoted. No one seemed to be able to tell me when my furniture would arrive to the destination and they went so far as to tell me they didn't even have a driver for my furniture. We had to keep calling them for updates because no one ever called us to tell us anything. Several people had reached out to me before the move (Dennis Nowlen and Mike Spencer) but when I tried to call them back with questions and concerns, no one answered or returned my phone calls. Needless to say, I received my furniture after the date I was told. My recommendation - DO YOUR RESEARCH AND KNOW EXACTLY YOU ARE HIRING TO DO YOUR MOVE.
