Total Care Moving

Total Care was recommended to me by one of my friends that used them. They were very happy with them and we were as well. I did look into a few other quotes and companies but still decided that they were the best fit for me. I really appreciated that they took the time to go over the quote with me and explain in detail how it all worked. Everyone that we dealt with there (including the movers) were super helpful, friendly and informative. I like that they showed up on time and in uniform. They were very deserving of this review. Thank you.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1500

I am so happy that I went with this company. I had a great feeling from when I first spoke with Jenna. Then I went online and did my research and their reviews matched the customer service I recieved. The movers were incredible. I had a lot of stuff and I was worried that it wouldn't all fit onto one truck and that we would have to go back. I don't know how they did it but they loaded that truck so tightly and fit every last item in. There were no damages to anything. This company was worth every penny. I strongly recommend using them for anyone that needs to move.

The window for the movers to show up was between 8am and 10am. They showed up at 12:30 and were absolutely exhausted. You communicated to me that they had to finish up a move started the day before, however they expressed to me that they were tired because this was there second move of the day.



Additionally I was quoted for 6 hours of moving including blanket wrapped furniture and it took them 9 hours to move the house. They had no boxes or small items to move as we moved them earlier and there was minimal disassembly.



To speed them up I did the following

1. My 65 year-old father and I disassembled the bed and moved all the items from the 3 bedrooms into the main living room to speed them up.

2. 3 guys wrapped 1 TV and it took them 20 minutes. So I have my father take the remaining TV’s in his car

3. Due to the shortness of time they didn’t not wrap anything which was paid for.

4. At 330 seeing how far they were behind I had my brother come over with is truck and trailer so we could speed up the loading. We proceeded to load up numerous items including the harvest dining room table, the queen bed frame from the one small bedrooms. The master bedroom head board, the patio table and plush rocking chair, as well as other tiems. We also assisted with moving the remaining items to the curb.

Things I noticed from the movers

1. The vast majority of the time only 2 were working as one was taking a break.

2. At 2pm I left the to take my 3 yearold son to the new house. When I returned at 3pm almost nothing was accomplished. Granted it had rained for about a half hour but when I went inside nothing was wrapped, nothing was moved from the bedrooms or back room and one guy was sitting on the couch. I even had a neighbour express concern that he saw nothing happening when I was gone. It was at this time that I stepped in and began doing much of the work myself.

3. Over the next couple hours they started using the liftgate instead of the ramp to get into the truck, 1 dresser, 2 guys, 3 to 5 minutes. The dressers weren’t even heavy.

4. Once they finally came to my new house which was only 15 to 20 mins away and began unloading the one guy expressed to me how tired he was from the move earlier move and apologized that he was unable to work hard. It got to a point where he was just picking up pillows and very light things.

5. The truck was 20% empty once they finished.

6. The guys were so slow by the time they were unpacking the truck that they were avoiding putting things like twist on legs back on the furniture and leaving the items in the middle of the room turned on its side.

7. Finally the amount of damage was unacceptable, We have a king mattress that is only a year old with a 10 year warranty. It was supposed to be bagged but the movers didn’t have a bag. When it came out of the truck, the mattress was stained and had a small run in it, which will void the warranty.

• One guy accidently bumped furniture numerous times with the furniture he was carrying, causing nicks and scratched.



This list is long and I am certain I missed many things.



Clearly the 9 hours it took these gentlemen to move was extreme in comparison to the quote of 6. The fact the my father and I had to step in to assist and eventually my brother is absolutely embarrassing. Your company should be ashamed of this service. The guys are clearly over worked with back to back 15/16 hours days of moving. I’m really not sure what you guys expect from them at that point…..but I surely know what they were capable of.



I paid for fresh people to move me, not ones that began at 6am moving someone else. I should not be penalized for Total Care Moving double booking and overworking your employees. I should not have to call my father and brother to help me move me when I had paid good money for movers.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1800

It was no small move that we had planned, and it was exacerbated by the fact that we're in a global pandemic, but that didn't stop Total Care Moving from exceeding any expectations we had and pulling it off without a hitch for us.

My family of 4 was relocating 2 hours away and Total Care was able to do this move in a single day for half the cost of other quotes we'd received. They were fast, careful, and clear with anything taking place during the move. The administrative staff was so friendly and easy to work with and did everything they could to ensure things went perfectly.

I will continue to recommend them to anyone I know moving in the future and will be calling them myself for any upcoming moves I have.

Jenna and the Total Care Moving crew helped me out relocate my family from Montreal to Kitchener this Summer (2020)

They sent me a quote based on a 2 bedrooms Appartment that was amazingly competitive and fair! Negotiating with them felt really natural, warm and welcoming. It felt like I was talking to a friend that really wanted the best for me in this frightening attempt of moving in the middle of this covid 19 situation.

I should say that Jenna makes the process a lot easier and you can feel the whole process would be fun.

Mike and the crew in Montreal arrived on time, they notified me the time of arrival and they came with 5 people to take care of my stuff.

We finished loading at 5 pm on a Friday and the crew arrived at 9 am next day as they have said. I loved that because I really like being punctual.

The crew in Ontario was very respectful and they took care of my stuff with a absolute care.

Both crews were super welcoming with my 3 years old , joking and letting him see the truck, and I really appreciated that because he enjoyed all the process and it made the transition easier for him.

Final price was almost exact to the original quote which means they really estimate based on experience and on what it is really going to cost.

I enjoyed working with Total Care Moving since email number 1 and I appreciate and I'm very thankful with Jenna, Mike and the crew for helping me in this big step I was giving by relocating my family.

Direct Quote from Total Care Moving & Storage Website:

“We strongly believe that you should always get what you paid for,

…Oh really???

Right from the initial phone call with “Jenna” at Total Care, it seemed strange that she recommended a single 26 ft truck to move a one bedroom apartment AND a 3 level, 4 bedroom house. However, she repeatedly assured us that only one truck was necessary, and we decided to trust Total Care, and Jenna, because that is why we hired a professional moving company, they are the experts.

Mistake #1…

However, as soon as the Total Care Moving crew arrived, the crew leader, Nehat(Niko), expressed serious concerns that one 26 ft truck was not going to be big enough! We told Niko that we had expressed this concern with Jenna right from the start. Niko told us that the sales department always misquoted price and size of truck needed and that it happened 5 times to him before.

Niko called the Total Care office, he said he spoke with Jenna, but there were no more trucks available. It was now 4pm, and only half of our possessions were on the truck, the rest were in the garage, and our beds were still in the bedrooms! We received the word from our lawyer the new house had now closed so Niko and his crew & truck headed over (2km drive from old house) Niko said they would off load as quickly as possible, and try and head back to old house for the rest of our possessions.

Before Niko & his team started to off load, they said the Total Care office insisted that we pay for the move? Even before the job was half completed. But what choice did we have? They basically held our possessions for ransom.

Nonetheless, we had to pay, and despite that last half hour, we did tip Niko and his crew handsomely for their efforts throughout the day, and because they led us to believe that they would indeed complete our move for us.

Mistake #2…

We had also paid a premium of $200 to have our piano moved. Well, Niko and his team were too weak to perform this task on their own and almost had a tragic accident. Fortunately, our family noticed their struggle and stepped in just in time to save the piano from running over one of the movers. Unfortunately, a leg from our piano was broken off and our new home hard wood floor was severely scratched.

It was at this point that Niko enlightened us to the fact that they will not be working past 8pm! What happened to “…we believe you should get what you PAID for…” and “…our team will always be there every step of the way to get your property to where it needs to be safely and on time”???

SO NOT TRUE…

Needless to say, our experience with Total Care Moving & Storage was more like a Total Nightmare. The crew left, just before 8pm, and we struggled through the night, calling on friends and a rented 15ft Uhaul to move the 2nd half of a 4 bedroom home Total Care literally abandoned!

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $2000

Beware using this company to move! We had a nightmare experience with this company. Our first clue should have been the fact that they do not use their own trucks.

What started the whole negative experience was that they refused to unload anything before payment was made. This was never explained until all of the furniture was loaded, and we were all on our way to the new house. While I was driving, I received an e-mail from Jenna with an incorrect invoice attached. She expected that I would somehow receive and pay the invoice while I was driving on the QEW. When I arrived at the new house, I had to pay upfront while they held our belongings hostage and then hope for a promised refund if they did not require the amount of time that they estimated. We have never in the past had to pay for a move before the job was done.

One of their preferred payment methods is e-transfer but my bank flagged it as a security risk because someone else (not the person to whom you send the e-transfer) deposits the e-transfer. It took almost 2 hours to straighten it all out and we were charged for this time, while the men sat in the truck and refused to unload, even though we showed them that the funds had been withdrawn from our account and their office had received the e-transfer (the issue was on their end because of the way they were trying to deposit the funds). In the end, we had to cancel the e-transfer (however, the funds had already been removed from our account and we had to wait 72 hours for the deposit back into our account).

Meanwhile, we had to pay by another method, or they would not unload. They wanted debit, but we certainly were not going to make 2 "cash" payments, so we paid by credit card. We never got the promised refund (promises, promises, promises) for the two hours lost.

In the end, because the movers were trying to make up for lost time, they banged and scratched a lot of furniture; at least two cabinets actually fell off their dolly. In addition, one of the movers sprained an ankle rushing down steps with a cabinet, so for the rest of the unload, we only had two people unloading instead of the three movers for which we were charged. We also just let them unload boxes into the garage instead of taking them into the house so that they could get done more quickly.

The guys themselves worked hard, but unfortunately, in trying to get the job done quickly after the almost two-hour setback caused by administration, they damaged a lot of the furniture and one of them got hurt. Moreover, the administrative policies, procedures, and personnel (Jenna) with her empty promises, leave much to be desired. We would never use this company again, nor would we ever recommend them to anyone. What they SAY is definitely not what you GET.

I had Total Care Moving help with my partial move from Ottawa, ON to Hamilton, ON. We had about ~3000 lbs of stuff (1 bedroom, kitchen, family room, bathroom, kids toys/books, 2 offices) packed up. Jenna was awesome answering my questions and concerns, which were primarily about scheduling and costs. The pickup time was a bit of a miss (by 2 hours), but this was primarily due to another client taking up more time. For me it was alright as it gave me a bit more time to pack additional stuff. The pickup crew (Shawn's team), arrived and was efficient (probably took about 25 minutes to load up) and handled things professionally. The schedule drop-off in Hamilton was perfect. Everything arrived on-time and intact. There was a bit of tricky business at our drop-off place in Hamilton where we didn't have front parking and cars were already parked in front our house. I was a bit anxious about it, especially with the timing (I'm near 2 schools with a lot of kids walking home), but the crew managed and find a spot and "wheeled" everything from their parked truck location into the house. I'd say it took about 40 minutes. Simple and easy. When it came to the billing, I was really happy with it, especially hearing from friends about hidden costs and other horrors. But there were no hidden costs and payment was super easy (I did it through e-transfer although I could had done it through credit - and my bank didn't have an issue with it). I'll be moving again at the end of 2021 and will definitely be using Total Care Moving again. Thanks Total Care Moving!

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $1423

Right from the first call, to the movers loading the truck, to scheduling the move to my elderly father's new home, we were in great hands with Total Care Moving. I had gotten multiple quotes that were very vague, Total Care (Jenna) made sure she understood what we were moving, took the time to help estimate the load size and weight, answered every question I had, and was available for me to contact throughout the whole process. My father's stress level was lowered substantially as the moving teams were hard working, took care with the items, and were very friendly. Thank you Jenna and Total Care Moving for making our move efficient, organized and a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this team to anyone especially in this tough Covid 19 time. Cheers to the team!

Dear Jenna,

I was most disappointed at not having heard from you following my move from Kitchener. I wanted to report to you my experience. In spite of me begging you to send him a day early for which I would have happily paid. The packer was unreliable. He promised to phone me if there was any question as to what had to be moved. All items were labelled clearly. No phone calls.

I have spent until now unpacking my boxes so I could report accurately what was missing or damaged.

The movers were courteous but when asked to reassemble my furniture on location claimed to have the tools in their truck but did not materialize. They took off like bats out of hell leaving me with furniture that has to be reassembled. Also missing were the brackets to mount the mirror on my chest of drawers. This means that I am left with a bureau with a mirror that could topple at any time.

All five lampshades were damaged, as can be seen in the pictures.

Further there was a lamp on my desk that did not show up, clearly marked “To be Moved”.

Other Missing items

1. Shower curtain

2. Shower curtain rod

3. Various items in my desk including a rubber signature stamp, and other stamps, chequebooks,

4. The knob from my electric heater.

5. The basket from my dishwasher.

6. Several remote controls for TVs etc (Envision)

7. X10 remote control (various media)

8. Of four coats-of-arms of various universities I have attended, two are missing. These four were hanging on a wall together.

9. A Wolfson college, Cambridge, glass.

10. A dish containing coins and two washing machine cards charged with money.

11. Binoculars and their case

12. Several smart plugs

13. X10 plugs

Finials for lamp Finally a piece of furniture holding silverware was smashed beyond recognition. (see pictures)

For these reasons, I cannot recommend Total Care moving.

My move was from Toronto to Kitchener on 31st December , one of my friend’s had recommended to go with total care movers. The movers were very kind and had helped me reassemble the bed frame and refrigerator door as well as move couple of huge dressers to the 2 level of the property.I’m really happy with the experience that they have provided. I have called jenna to report few scratches on my dresser as it happened during the moving process,she swiftly took action and refunded 50% of the money. I understand furniture gets damaged sometimes but taking responsibility for that is important. I’m totally happy with the response jenna has displayed.

This review is long overdue but moving during a pandemic with kids doesn't leave you with much time as is. Anyways, I cannot say enough amazing things about this moving company. Honestly from my first phone call, to the video call, to the loading then offloading we are just so grateful for how seamlessly things went. They are an amazing organization that clearly has very well trained office staff (thank you Jenna) and movers. The movers were just incredible, Mike and his crew helped us with everything we needed. They made sure that before they left we didn't need anything else and just made the move in that much better. Thank you to everyone who helped. We will recommend this company to everyone we know.

We had a good experience from the start. Jenna was very patient, professional and helpful when we were putting together the quote and throughout the process. The movers were professional, polite and respectful of our possessions. They worked very hard, took few breaks (in fact I was a bit concerned they weren't taking enough breaks) and it was an extremely long day and they never complained. The price was fair and we were even refunded a half hour we didn't use after the final quote. Thanks to everyone for all your hard work and a job well done.

The first thought that comes to mind is that I should have used them for the basement move in addition to the moving of the items from the storage unit. This would have saved so many body aches.

Storage unit was a full 10x10x9 unit. In discussing with Jenna, I provided a full inventory summary and it was determined that a 26ft truck with 3 guys would do the job. A estimate quote was given. Deposit paid and wait for the big day.

I get a confirmation call the day prior to confirm the arrival ETA of the moving truck.

Come move day, I get a call from the moving team that they are on their way to the storage. My car doesn't start and needs a boost. All I'm thinking is that I'm going to be late to meet up with the truck. Luckily they didn't have to wait too long as the storage unit is only 10 mins away. They find a spot to park their truck and we review how the items are currently stored inside the unit. All furniture is wrapped up. There was one dresser that had prior damage and it was shown to me before it was wrapped.

It was a quick pickup and hauling. I get a call from Jenna to review the expected final cost and to start the payment process.

This is a note to anyone not knowing this process. The move is halted halfway, usually at the destination and the movers will wait till the final payment is processed. Doing an Email Transfer will take longer and the movers will have to wait, debit is the easiest while credit card will have a processing fee added to the bill. And then depending on how much time they will added add or substract to the final bill.

Now back to the 2nd half of the move, the movers placed runners into the first floor and also up the stairs going into the master bedroom. At our indications, items were placed carefully throughout the house. wrappings and tapes were removed and a quick dehauling was completed.

A final check of the truck and exchange of pleasantries, our move day was successfully over. The 3 guys were great to have. We had the multi-linguistic guy who handled the logistics, the worldly traveller would make sure that items were packed carefully and then the quiet guy who worked hard and quick. The quiet guy even made sure that I didn't get to pick up stuff and to let them handle the workload.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $900

What a HUGE disappointment in hiring this company to move our 2 households, (my husband and mine in Goderich, and our son's in Cambridge), from Ontario to New Brunswick.

There was a crew of 5 guys in Ontario who loaded our belongings; however, not according to what we were told; 3 of the 4 mattress were placed in mattress covers, the 4th one was a mattress from our futon, which they simply folded in half and taped it.

We were told that there would be dividers placed between each of our loads, and that there would be a third family that would share the truck. We are suspecting that they ended up with some of our belongings; like the legs for our 75" TV, (that we can't set up without them); along with the cables for our Play station.

We were also told that we needed to remain outside of our house for the duration of the unloading in New Brunswick, as there was a crew hired here to help unload the truck, and we were in isolation. Mike, the driver, arrived with one inexperienced guy, who didn't understand English, and was barely audible when speaking. Apparently, they were unable to locate help here, so it took them 10 hours to unload everything; well not quite "everything", as they kept the dolly that belonged to our son. It was loaded in Cambridge with his belongings, but they neglected to unload it in New Brunswick.

We were told that we had to simply tell them what room to place each item, as it came off the truck. It was basically 15 minutes into the unloading that I discovered the one crew member didn't understand what I was saying and was putting our "heavy tool boxes" and camping gear into a room in the store instead of the garage where we told him. The box spring for our son's bed was also placed there, instead of upstairs in the bedroom, where we asked them to put it. When I brought this to Mike's attention he said, "We only move things once!" Meanwhile, we have no way to move the heavy toolboxes to the garage as they kept our dolly.

Our microwave stand was completely damaged, as it was not wrapped in a blanket, but simply had the doors taped shut. The top of the stand looks like something heavy may have been placed on top of it and caved in from the weight. It took me days to find our glass turntable for the microwave, as they had taped cardboard around it and threw it on the floor of our garage.

Our boxes that were marked' "FRAGILE", and, "THIS SIDE UP", came off the truck upside-down and sideways, with heavier boxes placed on top. Almost all of our tupperware containers had very heavy items stacked on them which caused them to cave in and break.

As the unloading progressed, we could literally see the disposition of Mike, the driver, go downhill in frustration; obviously he couldn't manage the stress, and he was upset that he couldn't get cell service in this remote area; much like the many places in NB that he has traveled. So, with that being said, I was surprised that he didn't realize this before he arrived here, and didn't have a crew to help him.

We also discovered big gouges in our walls of the stairwell to the upstairs, from them carrying up the beds. They were unable to get the sofa bed into one of the rooms, and were rather impatient in waiting for us to get something to remove the door, so we ended up having them leave the sofa bed in another area; which we have to move it to.

When I approached him in regards to the broken microwave, the missing items, and the damaged walls, he brushed me off, stating 'we had 100 year old junk, our house was already in rough shape, and to deal with the office, as he is only the driver.'

I filed a complaint with the management 10 days ago and have yet to hear back. I would highly recommend that you avoid using this company's services, as they do NOT live up to their name, or their promises.

They moved our company last week to a new city. Our crew was just perfect. They packed and wrapped our merchandise for us so properly. Thanks to them everything arrived with no damages. They really took care of us. We started with Jenna who checked in with us during and after the move as well. We really liked how she presented herself over the phone. Her customer service reflects on this company. She did a stellar job with the estimate as well it was pretty much dead on. Our movers were very polite. They kept us in the loop the whole time. They worked so hard. They are as good as everyone says. We highly recommend working with this company.
