Long-distance move from Florida to Texas

Horrible!!

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! TAKE THESE REVIEWS SERIOUSLY.I will be very brief. This company should not be in the moving business. This was a very, very BAD service. Here are the very high level experience I had with Summit Van Lines:1) The final amount that I paid was more than doubled the amount that I was quoted. I was quoted $2400 and ended up paying $4800;2) The delivery team was EXTREMELY rude and very, very unprofessional. 3) Several items are missing, especially my rare wines.4) Several items were smashed/broken. For example my table top, 12 large expensive wine glasses were all smashed, wine top, etc.5) Several items are still not assembled. For example, my bed and mirror are still not assembled 3 weeks after delivery.6) I was constantly threatened that my things would be placed in storage and that it will cost me $2500 for re-delivery, despite the fact that I was supposedly offered 1 Month free storage.I am still contemplating legal action against your company because this was a totally unacceptable service.PLEASE READ THE OTHER REVIEWS AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Damaged Everything!

The lady in charge of arraigning the move, Sigal, was very friendly and helpful. But the actual move was horrible. The movers, specifically Ortiz, was unprofessional, rude, didn't care about my property and actually tried to steal a box of alcohol bottles I had. I went with Summit Van Lines because they had a good price but in the end I ended up losing since my furniture got damaged, stained, cut up and broken. Avoid unless you want to spend time filing a claim to try and get some money to replace your items. Here's what will happen if you go with them:- Movers will shop up late to your initial location.- Movers won't wrap up furniture- They'll arrive suspiciously late to your new place somehow acquiring another worker- They'll leave all your furniture in puddles of water, get their sweat all over your items so that it stains, and carry it without any padding/blankets/covers so everything breaks and gets scratched. - Ortiz will then yell at you because you complain that your items are coming into your apartment dirty, broken or both.- Eventually you'll get tired or Ortiz's attitude and disregard for your furniture that you end up helping move things into the apartment just to have the move be over. - Lastly you'll notice that the box of alcohol bottles that was loaded last somehow hasn't made it into your apartment. Only after insisting for a long time that the box hasn't shown up, they'll "find" the box they tried to STEAL from you in the back of the truck with someone else's property. I'm currently filing a claim with their 3rd party company which I really doubt will fix the negligence displayed by their movers.

Long-distance move from Florida to Pennsylvania

Horrible / do not deal with these people.

Do not hire this company to haul horse manure! The driver was horrible - called three times about backing down a driveway off of a main road due to the length which is about one hundred yards as he could barely operate a tractor trailer. The driver did not have any assistance so was trying to move all the items himself.
They demanded cash before unloading the truck and the reason was quickly obvious - damaged furniture - wet rugs and later found numerous items missing.

Horrible And Horrendous Service!!

Is there a minus 0 star rating for these low lives?? It's obvious that the good reviews on here are friends of the business. They are CROOKS and don't keep their word. They try to a contract after they've verbally agreed to other things and you have given them a deposit, and make you sign a new contract with new terms AFTER your things are on the truck! LOSERS and crooks! My attorney will be writing to the Better Business Bureau.

Long-distance move from Jacksonville Beach, FL to Tempe, AZ

Bad experience.

Unfortunately I had an awful experience with summit van lines. Firstly, it does say in the contract your belongings may take up to 21 days to reach its final destination, however we were reassured it would be no longer than 7-10days. Our belongings were delivered 20-21 days after set moving date. The driver attempted several times to increase the moving cost at arrival despite signing a contract at date of move out. Some of our furniture was never delivered. Other furniture, packed by the movers, including our dresser and tv stand arrived completely destroyed. The furniture and clothes that did survive the move presented with an awful odor. When it came to reporting a claim, it was a chaotic process that took large amount of time and effort. We finally receives a settlement 3 months later that was laughable at best and did not cover even the items they did not deliver. By far worst moving experience to date.

Long-distance move from West Palm Beach, FL to Pittsburgh, PA

Do Not Use!

This company is a disgrace and is HORRIBLE! DO NOT USE!! They are fraudulent, and employ deceptive paperwork/sales techniques, & delay tactics on simple claims.

Prior to Moving Day:
I had received quotes from other van lines, and Summit was the cheapest. The sales associate, Sammy, was convincing. We were told that we would have our own trailer and it would be a direct shipment from FL to PA. He asked me when I wanted it delivered, and I stated the first week in August, as I would be traveling up to PA just to receive my goods. I was told multiple times that this date would work. We also purchased extra insurance, as my goods and belongings were in mint condition and expensive.

Moving day:
In late July, the truck and workers showed up on time. These guys were great. They were careful when packing my belongings. Nothing was damaged. They took their time wrapping my goods, carrying them two flights of stairs, and loading them carefully into the truck. I was impressed until we were told that we were over our "box allotment". I had packed my goods myself, and in boxes in all shapes and sizes. Regardless of size, I was limited to the number of boxes to be taken. I.e. if I was only allowed 40 boxes total, it didn't matter if those boxes were shoe boxes. Only the count mattered. I called Sammy, since I looked into the truck and saw that there was a half a truck that was empty still, and my belongings would no question fit. Sammy got it ironed out with the workers at my home, and all was fine again. Prior to leaving my home with my goods, I again confirmed my delivery date as being 8 days from Moving Day. They confirmed.

8 days later:
I traveled to PA to receive my goods. I hadn't heard from the company so I called them that morning, and I was informed that my belongings never left the state of FL. I was fed excuse after excuse until I screamed this was unacceptable and I needed my items ASAP! How unprofessional and rude can a company be to someone who traveled up to PA just to receive their goods, and never tell them their items never left the state of origin! Charlie, the representative I spoke to, apologized, and said my items would be there in two days.

2 days later:
My items finally came. However, almost EVERY PIECE OF BEDROOM FURNITURE WAS DAMAGED. How could this have happened? I was then told that my belongings were unloaded into a warehouse once they left my home in FL, and then repacked! This was NOT what we were promised! I WAS PROMISED A SINGLE, DEDICATED, DIRECT TRUCK FL TO PA. We were lied to just to give them our business! The workers were embarrassed at the damage, and urged me to take pictures and file claims. My new bedroom furniture was scraped on the sides, dented in, and scratched. My guest bedroom furniture was even worse! A HOLE was punched in the back of my dresser. The dresser was dropped on a corner, and the corner was crushed in. There are scratches, dents, and scuffs over end tables, head and footboards, benches, and media center. They lost TWO large, expensive mirrors of mine somewhere in the warehouse. Hundreds of dollars' worth of glass, plates, decorative items were shattered. Lamp shades were dented in and had to be thrown away. Dining room furniture was scraped and scratched. The only positive of the day were the workers, as they were polite, kind, and professional.

The claims process:
The claims process is meant to discourage people from filing claims, as it takes THAT much time, energy, and research. You are instructed to work with a third party claims company (movingclaims.net). THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FRAUD. The documentation you need to submit a claim is unbelievable. Everything must be physically printed (in color) and mailed in. This took us several weeks to complete, as we would uncover more damage/items that never made it to the house as we unpacked and took inventory. We submitted our claim in October, which was an entire thick packet of information. In December, we were given another chance to add more items, which we declined to do so even though we discovered more missing items, as it took so much time to complete the first time around, and we just wanted to be done with it. It was March, and we still hadn't heard. We followed back up, shortly after, THEY OFFERED US $64 TOTAL! The claim we submitted was for approx. $2,500! We immediately responded stating this is unacceptable! They came with another offer..$94! And stated this was THEIR FINAL OFFER! After countless emails, to Movingclaims.net, which is accountable for nothing,we were told that we had to go back to Summit to settle the claim. Charlie from Summit was seemingly unaware of our claim and we were asked THREE MORE TIMES to file ANOTHER CLAIM! We stated we will NOT do that, as this has been MONTHS of delay tactics and fraud. Still today, we have NO resolution.

Summit van lines are great!

Thank goodness for.Summit Van Lines, they moved my father from Maryland to Florida, at the lowest quoted rate, stuck to the price, did the move on time, quickly and efficiently.. plus the customer service was good and the movers were helpful. I was relieved, since, other moving companies were trying to nickle and dime me, quoting additional fees, for" having to move a few thing up a flight of basement stairs!" I had never heard of anything like that. Then, I call Summit and they gave me a good quote with no additionsl ffees and stuck to it. I would recommend Summit van lines to anyone moving and will only use them, from this day forward!
