Simple Moving Labor

My parents just moved to Dallas from St. Louis. They hired 2 teams from SML: one "professional" team to pack the house and load the items in STL, and one regular team to unload the truck into a garage. My mom didn't see it necessary to spend the extra bucks for a professional team to literally do nothing but unload a truck. This team, however, was completely incompetent and negligent. Hutches and large furniture items were dragged across the concrete, scraping and damaging them; they tossed smaller furniture items causing drawers to fly out and shatter; they somehow managed to break a recliner COMPLETELY in HALF; and they moved like sloths (trying for additional hours?..). There is no excuse for this negligence and the company refuses to own to its mistakes.

I was told that 2 professional movers would be at my house between 9am and 10am. They arrived at 1045am. When they arrived at my home, one of the "professionals" was on his cell phone until he was told to put it away. I had a 26 foot truck that needed to be unloaded. There were only 15 pieces that I asked to be brought in the house and positioned. Other than that my truck was boxes and plastic containers. They barely got the truck unloaded in the 3 hours they were there. Had I not been on the truck moving things around and having my children grab small items it would not have been finished. They were pleasant people but not what I've dealt with as professionals in the past. When they finished they asked for payment which I found odd since the fees had been paid up front. One gentlemen hung around just long enough for it to be awkward since I had no intention of parting with more money. All in all it was not a good experience. I feel as though I paid for a service I was not provided. Moving helpers was what I got. This company needs to re-evaluate their definition of professional.

We did a local move in Charlotte to Charlotte. The professional loaders showed up on time and loaded as much as the could on 26 Ft truck as possible. What could not fit I had to put in storage but I knew great chance all would not fit. 4 days later after we closed on next house same crew showed up again. This was good since they knew how truck was they loaded. It took longer on the unload part mainly because house was bigger and all bedrooms upstairs.  Wife and I had Avery good experience. I would use them again.

Service cost: $400

Very dissapointed in this company. I ordered professional movers and I received men who had never moved or handled anything before. They pushed and pulled things rather than picking them up rsulting in broken legs on furniture and when they heard they cracks they just shrugged their shoulders. They put boxes marked very fragile on the BOTTOM of a tier of heavy boxes. And the head man, the only one who knew what he was doing, would dissapear in the bathroom for 20 minutes while the others would stand around.  The company's solutions? Apologize and not charge me for the extra time it took.  That's not acceptable. I specifically ordered and paid for professionals. I did not get what I paid for. The drop off was alright but there were three movers not two. It doesn't seem to matter what you order. The company does whatever they want. I wil find someone else to move my things in the future!!

Scheduled a move from Burbank, CA. to Boone, NC.  The two gentlemen from SML who helped load the moving fan were professional and worked efficiently.  The only complaint on this end would be the $75 extra they charged because the movers had to travel x amount of miles to get to me (in Burbank).  This is something they can simply charge any time.   Turned out I needed SML again part way into my trip cross country when I need to change moving vans in Texas.  The 3 guys that transferred all my belongings into a new truck didn't bother placing the cardboard between furniture pieces and several pieces of furniture arrived scratched.  Wasn't terribly happy about this.  If it weren't for these two issues I'd give the company a higher grade.     Note:  I drove the moving fan myself so SML was not involved with a delivery.

Horrible experience! Movers did not show up leaving my family and I in a bad spot! Do not use this company if you expect any sort of reliability! If you do decide to use SML, be sure you have your friends on standby, because they may not show and leave you to deal with everything by yourself!I called SML back in February to get information and pricing about their services. I was pleased with what I was told and called them earlier last week to book two "Helpers" for a move that was taking place last Friday. Whenever I first called, I was told that I was not able to book any "Helpers" after noon (this was contrary to what I was told over the phone when I initially called for information). I explained to the CSR that my father was flying in at noon and I had to pick him up at the airport so I need the "Helpers" there after noon. She then told me she would check on it; then later told me the latest she could schedule was noon because she didn't like to send them out any later. I got off the phone with her to discuss my options with my family and later we called back. We got a different CSR this time and she had absolutely no issues booking us two helpers at 2pm. She told us to allow for an hour travel time so they should arrive between 2pm and 3pm.Friday afternoon rolls around and 2pm comes and goes.. followed by 3pm.. still no "Helpers!" At 3:20pm we called SML to let them know that our "Helpers" had still not arrived; the CSR told us that she would have to call a different branch to find out where they were and she would call us back. 4pm rolls around and we have still yet to hear anything back from SML on the status of our "Helpers;" so we call them back. They tell us they still don't know where our "Helpers" are and they are looking for someone else to send our way. When asked what time we should expect them they told us they did not know. At this point point it was two hours after our scheduled time and we still had no helper or any idea what time or even if we would be able to expect them. SML refunded our money, however, not having the help that we were depending on left my father and I to do all the moving by ourselves. We could have scheduled some friends to help us move but instead we told them we had it covered since were hiring "Helpers" through SML. Big mistake!

We just used Simple Moving Labor for loading/unloading our truck.  Our experience started a bit rocky when the movers who came to load our truck arrived more than 2 hours late.  This threw everything off, as we had housecleaners, and other appointments set up around their arrival time.  Once they arrived, they did a really good job wrapping and loading our furniture (although, a bit on the slow side).  On the other end, the crew we hired did show up on time and did a great job unpacking although they did put some items into the wrong rooms.  No big deal..  Overall, they were very hard workers, and we would definitely use this service again, if we were ever moving again.  Which we're not.  Moving sucks!  LOL.. .
