      EXCELLENT CHOICE from FL to GA

      The SML teams for our loading and unloading were on time, courteous, knew what they were doing, worked efficiently, and got the job done within the time allotted.They were careful and loaded our belongings in a manner that resulted in no damage. I worked for a major van line in a previous life. These packers are trained to take advantage of every cubic inch - no wasted space was allowed! I was impressed!

      Long distance move from Simi Valley, CA to Castle Rock, CO

      At both ends of my move from Simi Valley, CA to Castle Rock, CO SML provided hard working laborers. They did not waste my time. From when they showed up to when the job was completed, they stayed focused on their job to get us packed and unpacked end to end. They did both ends within a 2hr minimum so that we would not have to pay the extra hourly rate. They were all respectful and polite and treated our furniture with respect. I used them at the front end and was very pleased, so at the other end I chose SML and was not disappointed.

      Moving by SML across country

      SML did a fantastic job in loading our pod. They were on time, loaded items quickly and efficiently as possible. They finished the job as planned and did a very good job. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs assistance with loading a container and definitely use their service again.

      SML 2-man crew in Gulfport, MS

      They were on time and completed the job in the 2-hours I'd allotted. Plus, I had asked when I booked the job that they set up my queen size bed, as I live alone and not able to do that task alone. They did it for me, and did a great job, overall.

      Horrible experience

      Arrived 3 hours late. Took 7 and a half hours to pack the truck (1600 sq ft home) as they are constantly chatting on the phone or with each other (remember you pay by the hour). Only when you walk in the room do they go back to work. Then took 2 and a half hours to to drive the 35 min trip. Stopped for dinner which is fine but then charge you for the time. Got to the house and provided me with their new estimate which was 1k more and refused to unload the truck unless I paid up front which wasted another hour. They did not pack the attic or garage in the old house because they ran out of space even though I sent them photo’s of everything before. When they unpacked they were mishandling our stuff. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

      Move to Chicago

      We used SML to help us unload a self-move from Texas to Chicago. On the plus side, guys arrived early, unloaded a small apartment's worth of furniture and took it up 3 flights of stairs in the summer heat without complaining. We could not have done it without them. It was easy to arrange the service through our truck rental website, which referred us directly to SML.

      Only issue was unavailability of a crew after we had already made and confirmed the arrangements. Apparently mid-August is a very busy time in Chicago. The SML staff worked with us and stayed on top of it until they had found a crew who could help us at the needed time. We did have to pay extra for that, unfortunately, which affected my rating. We also arrived later than the crew because of traffic jams on the freeways when we arrived in town, so there was an extra half-hour charge for that.

      unprofessional

      The sml workers were ghetto, rude, unprofessional with a bad attitude. They were very loud and were more interested in their conversation than they were in doing the job. They have no respect for the clients nor their belongings. Also, I was quoted $179 for 2 workers for 2 hours. Upon checking my account not only was the $179 removed, an extra $110 was also taken. I've tried calling many times to no avail. This company is very dishonest and their workers have no training or respect. I will never use their services again and I'll make sure friends and family know not to use them as well.

      Awful All Around.

      The movers were over an hour late but no one from the company felt it useful to call and explain why. I called six different times, talked to six different morons, and got six, "I will check on that and call you back" answers. Then, after cursing on the phone with a rep, was told to "not use that language" because "it's never acceptable." Seriously? You're going to not give me any answers and then tell me how to speak? Give me a break. Turns out they swapped out a mover and didn't feel like letting us know until I called and demanded information. Then, the movers they sent were useless. I don't think they've ever moved anything before. Save yourself stress and don't hire these idiots.

      Licensed?

      Beware! This business was hired through Penske to do a load swap after our moving truck broke down. We specifically asked if the movers were licensed and bonded. The movers who showed up as well as the employer I spoke with on the telephone said they were. As it turns out, SML's FMCSA operating status was revoked months ago (it is currently September 2014) and is currently listed as "NOT AUTHORIZED" at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov. I am not sure if they can still provide moving labor, but they certainly can't operate your moving vehicle. A second team of movers had to come repack SML's poor packing job, and there is an incredible amount of damage, even to items in hard-sided Tupperware bins. We are awaiting an assessment of damage, but I would guess it will take thousands of dollars and many months to repair or replace items. SML has not returned any of my calls or responded to email. Also, if they are hired to complete your load swap DO NOT sign any forms limiting their liability or job completion until you have spoken to the company who hired them and gotten the go ahead (in our case, Penske). Take a copy or picture of any forms. Be sure to take pictures of the packing periodically…

      Poor Experience - Contact Moving Companies Directly for Better Service.

      I had a very mixed -- but generally poor -- experience with SML ProMovers. My biggest complaint is about the subcontracted ProMovers in Baton Rouge.

      Pick-Up: While I was contacted by SML two days ahead, the subcontracted movers (ABBA Movers) did not call until 9:30pm the night before my 8am move. (I understand this is not SML's fault directly, but since they were the contracting company, the blame also falls on them.) ABBA instructed me that night to bring additional supplies that I was not able to get before the pick-up time of 8am. At pick-up, I had two young movers in sweats who spent a chunk of the spent time on the clock on their phones texting and talking with friends. All but 5 boxes and furniture were ready to go, so this was not downtime, but rather wasted time. This was frustrating as I had to pay for an extra hour since they were not able to get everything in the truck within the three hours allotted. Had I had the requested materials due to proper notice and had the movers not spent so much time on their phones, I believe it would have kept the total time under 3 hours and saved me $95. I have a hard time imagining that they were bonded and insuranced as…

      SML poor packing and poor service.

      Use anyone but these guys.  It appears they contract out the work.  Two "pro movers" were contracted to load a 26 foot Penske truck(Penske performance and service were exceptional).  Movers arrived two hours late, and left after three hours, with the job not completed.  We called SML, and the movers returned an hour later, completing the job.  Good thing they did, because they left all their tools behind when they left the first time.  SML movers failed to adequately utilize the blankets at their disposal, resulting in thousands of dollars of damage to our household goods.  Two weeks later I personally packed another Penske truck, resulting in no damgage for the trip to Phoenix.  We made a claim for damages with SML, and they offered a free movie through Redbox while we waited, a total value of one dollar.  What an insult!  In response, two months later we received a total of $75 dollars for damages.  The damages were solely the result of SML's shoddy packing job.  Buyer beware.  Read the contact.  SML will pay for damages during the loading process and unloading process only, not for damages as a result of their totally inadequate packing.  I am guessing that their business…

Poor service.

The 2 people sent to load a truck were expecting an unload.  didn't bring equipment.  told them they were scheduled for 3 hours and they tried to leave after 2 hours.  They wanted fed and for me to pay for the pizza.  the guys stood around talking to other people on the property instead of moving items and expediting the loading process. Then yout company attempted to over bill me for the services rendered. Very disgusted with this experience and will never use your company again.

Expensive Middleman.

Just call Labor Ready yourself, and save a bunch of money.  All this company does is act as a middle man to lineup cheap unskilled laborers..but at a premium price because you're willing to pay.  Just get your own unskilled laborers direct from the source..ususally labor ready or some other company like that.These guys were getting 8-10 an hour, while I was paying 50-70 an hour.  One guy didn't show up, which sucked, and none of them were great.

Truck Loading.

I contracted SML for the professional movers to load my truck and then unload at other end.   The movers arrived on time. were very professional and did an excellent job of packing the truck.   During the drive down, there was almost a near accident with a deer and another car, which made me break hard and swerve to avoid.. however, the items in back of truck did not make a sound of shifting.   At my destination the movers arrived on time and handled the unloading of the truck as easy as the loading.  It was just what I needed.  Thank you again, SML.

It's over.

Move was fine but had several very expensive antique pieces that were destroyed in the move and I am hoping to have them refinished..very disappointing.  They wanted to take pictures after they broke the item and then say they were already broken, but I know they were not and you could tell it was just done with new break. They were nice enough guys, didn't talk to them much as we were moving..we just did a load a truck at storage unit..so only had them for 3 hours.. got charged for an extra hour which really ticked me off as the movers were to be there between 10-11 and showed up at 10:50..the extra 15 minutes should not have been billed for an hour.. Problem is after it is over, you are "over it" and not worth complaining about it ..would I use the service again..not sure..didn't like the automatic extra bill for time that was not and should not have been billed..were the guys good, they were average..it's over..that is a good thing.        .

Damaged household items.

One of the end tables is completely broken.  I have to purchase 2 new tables.  The sofa table is damaged.  My sofa has a hole in it due to the movers trying to stuff it through our screen door and it got stuck instead of them turning it sideways..  This too will have to be replaced!!  I don't think I would recommend using them ever again.

Big Movr.

Working with the SML company representatives was a wonderful experience! Working with contractors--labor was okay. The 'Professional' crew worked hard (7 hr.), however we experienced problems with communication; packing the truck was a challenge but too much weight was placed on tubs and boxes that could not handle the load..resulting in damage to them. Also, items were left unpacked and not loaded..without consultation..We eventually worked it out. I expected Professional movers to be better prepared to pack correctly. Also, the crew leader left and was replaced with a new crew member mid-way through the move so the instructions and detail communicated to the 'leader' were lost in translation..we had to start over and it took a while to get things going properly.

Unloading was staffed by a helper crew, packing into a storage unit. The crew was helpful, working alongside my family members. Some members of crew lagged behind others in working as a team..required (too) much direction and supervision to manage all four productively. Too much down time standing around instead of pitching in to assist with tasks..unfocused effort..not using tools moving one box around to different places instead of a stack with available hand truck. Some tools used to unpack were not left behind..when I realized the crew was standing around watching us finish the packing..I stopped the clock.

It was a big move (26 ft truck 7 hr pack and unpack) and I appreciated the labor of SML crews. If I need help again, I will learn from this experience to get better results.

Good Movers.

We had two SML movers that moved our house furniture and packed the items into a 26 foot truck.  They were friendly and professional.  We only needed the movers at pick-up only as we unloaded our furniture at four different stops.  The movers knew the stops and appropriately packed the truck ideally so we can easily unload at our desinations.

We used SML at 2 locations On 2 consecutive days..It was such a great help.. They were professional and very pleasant to work with.. they completed their task in the alloted time..
They were very courteous. We couldn't have done it without them.. I would highly recommend using this service.. also they showed up at the agreed time..the company stayed in touch to be sure all was going as planned. And they stayed connected with us throughout the move.. we were very satisfied with our experience..

I was unaware of SML until I called Penske to cancel my truck rental. They asked why I was doing so. I informed them that the furniture was too heavy for us to move. They offered to connect with this service. The woman who answered was very friendly and helpful. She was able to confirm two movers for my need - the next day. Good service and value.

Great helpers!

I chose the option to have 2 people help me load and separately 2 people help me unload. Both load and unload teams were professional. Each team arrived on site ahead of schedule and were very efficient and careful with all my items even though they are not technically professional movers by company standards. I would recommend the helper teams..

Good but not great.

Overall I was satisfied with laborers. We Had some minor damages that lowered my overall satisfaction. Cost was what I was quoted and expected. damages were both my to stuff and also to the place we moved in to. that crew, a different one that loaded, tried to rush and do too much and did some damage to the walls. I would use SML again for my next move.

Depends where you're going.

Based on the 'loading' end in Virginia I would give a twenty on a scale of 1-10. The crew arrived a half hour ahead of schedule..took appropriate care with wrapping of our belongings and the packing of the truck..they finished in two hours..which was less than the three hour minimum. Based on the "loading from a storage unit and unloading at the home" end of the move in SC, I would provide a rating of three on the 1-10 scale. They were already an hour late (outside of the one hour 'grace' window) before they even called to say they were a half hour away. It then took them an additional hour to arrive..so we started two hours late. The crew's wrapping and packing skills were poor and I found myself advising them on several items. It was hot and they worked hard through the heat, but I was struck by the fact that they needed one more crew member. At the end, it took four hours to offload a truck that took three hours to pack. I would likely use SML again, but it would depend strongly on the location of the crew.  .

Amazing!!

This was the most simple process, I even called and confirmed because it seemed TOO easy, got ahold of someone immediately too! The unloaders were on time, on the dot! They were extremely efficient and handled all my items with care. Great experience, I will absolutely be using them again!!

Way way too expensive!

They broker the move via other companies and so not sure who you get and what qualifications and reviews they have if any. So this the cost for just labor which is all you get is ridiculous! I have moved multiple times and never never were the fees that much! Over $800. Is absolutely highway robbery! Do not use these people!!

SML Moving.

They were a bit late. They gave me a window of something like 2:00 to 3:15 and they didn't get there till 3:30. Other than that, they did a good job. I tried taking the drawers out of a dresser to make it easier, but they used some kind of strap and moved the whole dresser. They helped me with minor things like putting the TV up on the stand. No complaints.

Washington DC Move.

Excellent experience with SML. We were on a tight timeframe to move furniture back to Cleveland, OH. The guys showed up a few minutes early and jumped into action. We loaded a 16' truck with antiques and family heirlooms in less than 2 hours. The guys were also prepared with tape and wrapping materials. Great job. Thanks -.

"This was an experience from hell. If I could leave a negative rating, I would. I booked for a full service (incl packing and unpacking) for $175/ hour move from a 2bed (800sqft) to 1bed (700+ sqft) apartment located just 15-20 mins away from each..."
