Horrible communication. Don't use them. I will not be using them ever again.

My experience with SML was not good. I needed a crew to help me unload my moving truck. We had loaded the truck in VA on our own but needed help to unload in CO. Setting up a crew to help was easy via phone and I was told there was a great crew available when I needed them. They would show up between 2-3pm and call before coming to alert me.

Moving day came and no one showed up or called. I called SML at 3pm to ask what was going on and they couldn't reach the crew. They would get back to me. I called 30 minutes later and still no update. The crew couldn't be reached so they were considering other options, but said they could easily find someone to come the following morning. I told them that I needed to get the bed and couch out of the truck for sleeping purposes and they never stated anyone would be coming. I called every 30 minutes with no updates on when a crew would be out and still no guarantee anyone would be there that night. Given we needed the furniture for sleeping and needed to move in daylight, my dad and I had to unload over half of the van. Almost 2 hours late, a crew of 2 showed up to start the job. At the same time, SML called saying a crew would show up around 6pm. They had no idea the other crew was there. The crew also stated that the company never called to check on their location and the crew never thought to call me and let me know they were running late.

Communication was horrible this entire time. No one seemed to know anything that was going on. Once the crew arrived, they did a great job moving the 5 pieces of furniture left. They worked one hour and left. I told SML that I wouldn't pay for 2 hours given my dad and I had to do the first hour of work since they wouldn't guarantee anyone would make it that night. They also refused to give me my deposit back since the crew showed up on site (even if it was 2 hours late). Then they still charged me for 2 hours of work and only gave me a small discount for the inconvenience. I had to overpay for the small amount of work they did. Had they guaranteed a crew that night, then I would have happily let the crew do the 2 hours of work. I hired a moving crew so that I wouldn't have to move items, but SML ruined that.

Do not use this company. Communication is horrible and the customer service wasn't much better. Find another company.

They are never wrong,responsible for anything ,and treat us the customer like it's our fault.Our stuff was broken,damaged it was our fault.They are only responsible for the load/unload.They trashed our 55'flat screen ,scratched our furniture broke our lamps,but it's our fault.I wonder how who he/she @SML will answer to when Penske Truck Rental gets my pics,here's my horror story and Oh I forgot,It's our fault.Here's the kicker folks,they sent us a 78.00 check for our compensation.REALLY!!I wouldn't recommend them to move a sofa across the street.What a JOKE.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! My husband booked this company on April 24th for a move on May 13th to load and May 16th to unload. On the 12th my husband called SML to make sure everything was on tract and they assured him it was. The morning of the 13th (the day of our move) my husband called again and again they assured him they would be at our home between 10am and 11am that we would get a call at 11:05 to make sure things were going ok. 11:15, we receive no call and no one showed up so we called again, they said we'll try to reach them and we'll call you back. We waited 30 minutes and no call so we called them again, they said no one was answering and could not give us anymore information, so my husband asked for a manager and all he had to say say, they could reschedule for the next day. We had to be on the road the next early morning so that was not going to work. My husband (68) and myself ended loading the 26 foot truck ourselves, then drove straight through 16 hours to Washington state from Nevada. On the 15th my husband called and called SML told the gal what happened and she looked up our order and apologized for what happened and gave us her word that it would not happen again, they had talked to the crew and they would be at our home on the 16th between 9 and 10 am. On the 16th, NO CALL NO SHOW!! SML BURNT US AGAIN do yourself a favor and go with someone else Thanks for reading K.L.

Overall SML did a GREAT job! We used a 3-person team on the front and back ends to handle a piano. The loading team did an exceptional job wrapping our belongings and loading the truck in such a perfect fashion that we ended up with extra space on the truck! The unloading team did a good job, but we had two minor incidents of furniture damage - nothing that couldn't be fixed easily - and they did not have the proper equipment to unload the piano. They ended up purchasing a "dolly" from Home Depot but did not charge us for the time it took to go to the store so that was fine. It was obvious the loading team was much more experienced. Very pleased overall and the rate was reasonable.

The 2 men who loaded my Pod were incompetent to say the least. a 2 hour job turned into over 5 hours. In the very beginning I pointed out several large items that were optional to take depending on space including 2 older couches. When they said they would not fit I posted them for free on Marketplace. 3/4 of the way packed they fit them in. Shortly after they asked me to point out which other items were not priority - majority of it was. Told them to remove one of the couches since the other one was buried which of course took more time. Still ended up leaving a truckload of items behind which I paid someone to remove since we were leaving right away. Left behind kitchen table, full bed frame, chairs, 10 x 12 carpet I was assured would fit and many, many household items I now need to replace. It was exhausting and exasperating. We set out for the first leg of our 14 hour drive 5 hours later than we planned. When I contacted customer service in the next state I was told there was nothing they could do since the loaders weren't still at the house. Said they would have worked with them during the process. Seriously?? If they need a babysitter to do their job correctly they are not right for the job. A manager left me a message 4 days later that I would be credited 10% so my $250 load was now only $600. I cancelled the unload job planned through them. The grand finale was 8 days later when the Pod arrived to find numerous items broken and damaged. Unused blankets thrown in at the end while wood furniture was scuffed, scraped and damaged. Light containers stored under heavy ones were crushed and broken. Newly hired unloaders were shocked at what they found. Contacted customer service again only to be emailed a form for damage claim with another company. BEWARE they only cover damages done WHILE loading or unloading - NOT during transit. So no matter how poorly the Pod was packed it is not their responsibility! Find a smaller, local company at each end of the move who stands behind their work and cares about your belongings. It was an expensive lesson for me.

I paid for help that Simple Moving Labor (SML) left me without on my move day. SML was unreliable, uninformed, unprofessional, and falsely advertised their services. 08/18/2020, I used SML’s online system to schedule a three-man team for my 09/04/2020 move. 08/21/2020, I called SML to validate my online confirmation, and verify details regarding moving a piano and the associated fee. I was told I would receive a call before the team arrived 9-10AM ET on move day, which did not occur; 09/04/2020, I called SML shortly after 9AM to make sure the crew was on the way. Each of the three men arrived individually by 9:30AM, were not friendly towards me, nor one another, and were not aware of the details of the move, per the paperwork in their hands. After I explained the move needs and walked them through the property, the team was unprepared and unwilling. They were not getting along with each another. Minutes later, I discovered one of the crew had left, while the other two leaned against my move truck, offering no explanation – told me to call SML. I called SML and was further appalled by the lack of communication and accountability; SML management informed me they were not insured to move the piano and generally unable to complete the move, as previously confirmed. The remaining two workers left without speaking to me, while I was on the phone with SML. What kind of company hires a crew that walks off the site without warning… SML should be ashamed. I, then, had to find my own replacement same-day movers. I certainly learned why SML rates are lower – it matches the quality of their service. I am currently awaiting full refund from this joke of a company, which does not right their wrongs. DO NOT TRY TO USE SML. DO NOT LET ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT TRY TO USE SML.

We used SML to help us unload a self-move from Texas to Chicago. On the plus side, guys arrived early, unloaded a small apartment's worth of furniture and took it up 3 flights of stairs in the summer heat without complaining. We could not have done it without them. It was easy to arrange the service through our truck rental website, which referred us directly to SML.

Only issue was unavailability of a crew after we had already made and confirmed the arrangements. Apparently mid-August is a very busy time in Chicago. The SML staff worked with us and stayed on top of it until they had found a crew who could help us at the needed time. We did have to pay extra for that, unfortunately, which affected my rating. We also arrived later than the crew because of traffic jams on the freeways when we arrived in town, so there was an extra half-hour charge for that.

Arrived 3 hours late. Took 7 and a half hours to pack the truck (1600 sq ft home) as they are constantly chatting on the phone or with each other (remember you pay by the hour). Only when you walk in the room do they go back to work. Then took 2 and a half hours to to drive the 35 min trip. Stopped for dinner which is fine but then charge you for the time. Got to the house and provided me with their new estimate which was 1k more and refused to unload the truck unless I paid up front which wasted another hour. They did not pack the attic or garage in the old house because they ran out of space even though I sent them photo’s of everything before. When they unpacked they were mishandling our stuff. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

We needed a truck unloaded in Naples Florida it was very easy to call your company and get someone when we needed them . The two gentlemen who were here to unload our truck we’re on time, they worked quickly and efficiently & were very professional & very nice! We were very very happy with them& the person who scheduled was very helpful.

It was so easy to call your company and get someone to help us and we really needed the help to unload our truck. Five stars from us!

Crew leader: Dirk

I would never recommend this moving crew which was promoted by Simple Moving Labor as their top crew and the only one with 100% customer satisfaction.

My oversized sofa consists of 2 chairs connected together with a bar across the bottom. The main purpose for using this service was to move the sofa and an adjustable motorized bed. This sofa has been moved from Texas to 3 apartments in New Jersey and 2 places in New York. For some of those moves, it was disassembled into the 2 chairs for moving. Dirk was either too lazy or not knowledgeable enough to disassemble the sofa. Instead, he argued with me that it could not be separated and refused to figure out how to disassemble it. Then he spent 20 to 30 minutes on the phone with somebody at Simple Moving arguing that the sofa cannot be separated. I'm not sure how he thought the sofa was brought into the apartment if it couldn't be taken apart.

It was one of the helpers, who after 90% of the items had been removed from the apartment and taken to the truck, who just happened to mention "Ma'am I don't know if anybody told you, but the sofa won't fit in the elevator." Dirk was not pleased when I told him there was a set of stairs at each end of the building. He was fussing about having the guys take it down the stairs.

The sofa was not a surprise as I had told Dirk in advance that it needed to be separated. I expected him to come prepared.

Dirk was observed mostly on the phone, giving directions, and rarely participating in the actual moving.

He fussed several times about the size of the truck telling me he didn't know who told me to get that size truck.

Finally, at the end of each location, Dirk produced a form for signature. The form asked whether there was any damage. Of course, you cannot identify damage until the items are loaded off the truck and into the new apartment if there is space for you to move around and inspect each item. Naturally, this was not the case so you are forced to prematurely state there is no damage before you really know whether there is damage.

I did not have the box that the tv came in so Dirk refused to put the tv in the truck and ordered the helpers not to help me put it in my car. Likewise, I had a printer leaking ink. One of the guys put plastic on my car seat and put the printer in the car for me despite Dirk telling him not to.

While I was standing within earshot about 4 or 5 feet away, Dirk told the helpers that I am the type to file a claim and he's just about the liability. He said this more than once in my presence.

Avoid this company at all costs - or it will cost you! To start, they showed up late which pushed us outside our reserved elevator time and that cost us our deposit. They only sent 2 guys when they said it was company policy and they would send 3 with an elevator move. This made them very inefficient. They showed up with no moving supplies - dollies, furniture movers, etc. Luckily we had some of our own. They took 4 hours instead of what should have taken 2 because of only having 2 guys and we were charged for this. When I talked with management they only initially offered a $25 discount - they eventually offered an hour off the charges, but this was far from what they cost us. When I said I would be writing a poor review regarding their customer service they didn't seem to care and didn't budge on any more compensation.

Simple Moving Labor made my move so miserable ... they canceled the "load" after EVERYTHING - all information - was confirmed. Then they didn't bother to show up to unload in the new city - near their "headquarters. " They are offering NO help. Managers "do not take phone calls" as told to me by a "Service Expert". They charged exorbitant prices for doing nothing. Be forewarned - do not use this company unless you want a miserable move.

The sml workers were ghetto, rude, unprofessional with a bad attitude. They were very loud and were more interested in their conversation than they were in doing the job. They have no respect for the clients nor their belongings. Also, I was quoted $179 for 2 workers for 2 hours. Upon checking my account not only was the $179 removed, an extra $110 was also taken. I've tried calling many times to no avail. This company is very dishonest and their workers have no training or respect. I will never use their services again and I'll make sure friends and family know not to use them as well.

I contracted this company for a major one way move - from Maryland to New Jersey. They were to provide movers to help load my furniture and boxes from my house to the truck, and then to provide a different set of movers at my destination to unload.

The movers to help load the truck were supposed to arrive and load between 3 and 5 pm on Tuesday. They even helpfully called on Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening and again on Monday to confirm. Makes you think they are on top of things, doesn't it?

Well they called me on moving day at 3:30 pm to ensure the loaders had arrived (via an automated service). I tried to communicate that they hadn't, but that turned into a round and round that went nowhere.

At 4:01 pm they told me they would be no more than 30 minutes late. Between 4:01 pm and 9:00 pm (remember they were supposed to be DONE by 5 pm), I had FIFTEEN calls with SML and two calls with the contract foreman VC (Vance), confirming they would be there "no matter what".

Well, guess what "no matter what" means to them? At 9:00 pm, Marissa from SML called me and offered to guarantee loading would happen at 9 am. I told them that wouldn't work, so they offered to refund the load portion and talk to her manager about extra compensation that I had asked for, given the extreme challenge this put me in.

I ended up having to make frantic calls to find random people willing to come help pack my van at 11 pm in the dark. Since we are not professional movers, and it was pitch black, it took until 2:30 a.m. to complete. To meet the proposed arrival time in New Jersey, we had to be on the road at 7:00 a.m. Imagine the sheer exhaustion!!

Fast forward to arrival in New Jersey. They called me in the morning and told me they would call every 30 minutes. Well ... they didn't. It wasn't actually do the job they were paid to do - after all, Penske wouldn't recommend a company they had vetted, right? Perhaps I was just unlucky and got the worst movers in their crew? Well, after looking up their BBB complaints, I should at least be happy they didn't break my stuff. That's a positive.

And I'm still waiting to hear back, days later, on whether they will compensate me for totally screwing me over with a no-show crew on the loading portion of the move. I will be happy to update my review accordingly if I ever hear back from them.

Would I recommend Simple Moving Labor to anyone looking for moving help? Absolutely not, and I hope many people read my story to see what kind of operation they are. Do not be duped by their false narrative on thier website. Also, thier message to use the chat option on thier website is non-existent. Lies on top of lies.

Hired SML to find movers weeks in advance of our move. There were never able to "find" loading assistance in our area so they claimed they could only assist with unloading. We accepted and spoke with them several times to confirm availaibilty andnthe dates/times that we would need the unload. They assured us several times that we were confirmed. We independently called the first local movers in our area for load assist and they were avaialble and were cheaper than SML.

Day of our move we are waiting for our unlosders thay SML was supposed to provide. Their arrival was set for 3 pm and were had to pay for a 2 hr minimim inload time. By 3:45 we had nit heard from anyone so we start calling SML. SML claims that they would ahve to call their dispatch to find outbwhere the crew is. By 4:45 they call us back to tell us that their crew cancelled. The offered to get us another crew by 6PM and would "compensate" us for our trouble. We agree as I am a combat disabled veteran and the load/unload would be very difficult for me. Alex with SML tells me that she will call us back once she confirms with the second crew. By 6:20 we have not received a call back so we reach out to SML again, who then tells us that the second crew has also cancelled and there's nothing they can do for us. So sfter sitting and waiting for SML's crew for 3.5 hours, i still had to unload the truck myself. They have yet to return my deposit. I will be sending them an invoice for my lost time, deposit, and my labor.

I hired SML to load a rental truck in Florida where everything went great. Had arranged for unload on a Sunday from 2-3pm. No one showed up, no call, no text. I called them and was told they would check and get back to me…they didn’t. I called back, they said they would check with the crew and call me back. The crew wasn’t answering their phone and I was left hanging. Finall after multiple calls and return phone calls I was told the crew was on the way. Still no call or communication from the crew and they never showed. The corporate office finally said they were going to send a different crew but that couldn’t be there until between 5-6pm but corporate office was closing at 5 due to it being a Sunday. This crew didn’t arrive until 7:15 with no call or text to explain they would be late. By this time I had my whole truck off-loaded myself into my garage. The guys were friendly but because I did most of the work they were only at my home for about 30 minutes. Still got charged full price after the terrible service I received. DO NOT USE this company.

The agent I spoke with at the beginning answered all my questions with patience and understanding. She never pressured me in any way !

Movers were professional and extremely courteous. They took great care with all our belongings. I've dealt with movers a lot since my husband was in the military and we had several moves, these guys topped them all!

They did a GREAT job!

I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to family and friends.

The movers were supposed to be at my home between 8:30 and 9:30 per my special request which was accepted by your company. At 10 I got an email they would be there shortly. At 10:15 I called and was advised they were running behind and would be there in 30 minutes. At 11 I called and were advised they got held up in traffic hopefully they would be there in 30 minutes. Shortly before 12 they arrived. They did apologize and got right to work loading the truck. However, by that time we had already brought quite a bit of stuff out into the driveway for them to load. When you are making a long distance move from Florida to Colorado time is of the essence. Put alot of stress on us that was unnecessary.
