      EXCELLENT CHOICE from FL to GA

      The SML teams for our loading and unloading were on time, courteous, knew what they were doing, worked efficiently, and got the job done within the time allotted.They were careful and loaded our belongings in a manner that resulted in no damage. I worked for a major van line in a previous life. These packers are trained to take advantage of every cubic inch - no wasted space was allowed! I was impressed!

      Long distance move from Simi Valley, CA to Castle Rock, CO

      At both ends of my move from Simi Valley, CA to Castle Rock, CO SML provided hard working laborers. They did not waste my time. From when they showed up to when the job was completed, they stayed focused on their job to get us packed and unpacked end to end. They did both ends within a 2hr minimum so that we would not have to pay the extra hourly rate. They were all respectful and polite and treated our furniture with respect. I used them at the front end and was very pleased, so at the other end I chose SML and was not disappointed.

      Moving by SML across country

      SML did a fantastic job in loading our pod. They were on time, loaded items quickly and efficiently as possible. They finished the job as planned and did a very good job. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs assistance with loading a container and definitely use their service again.

      SML 2-man crew in Gulfport, MS

      They were on time and completed the job in the 2-hours I'd allotted. Plus, I had asked when I booked the job that they set up my queen size bed, as I live alone and not able to do that task alone. They did it for me, and did a great job, overall.

      Horrible experience

      Arrived 3 hours late. Took 7 and a half hours to pack the truck (1600 sq ft home) as they are constantly chatting on the phone or with each other (remember you pay by the hour). Only when you walk in the room do they go back to work. Then took 2 and a half hours to to drive the 35 min trip. Stopped for dinner which is fine but then charge you for the time. Got to the house and provided me with their new estimate which was 1k more and refused to unload the truck unless I paid up front which wasted another hour. They did not pack the attic or garage in the old house because they ran out of space even though I sent them photo’s of everything before. When they unpacked they were mishandling our stuff. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

      Move to Chicago

      We used SML to help us unload a self-move from Texas to Chicago. On the plus side, guys arrived early, unloaded a small apartment's worth of furniture and took it up 3 flights of stairs in the summer heat without complaining. We could not have done it without them. It was easy to arrange the service through our truck rental website, which referred us directly to SML.

      Only issue was unavailability of a crew after we had already made and confirmed the arrangements. Apparently mid-August is a very busy time in Chicago. The SML staff worked with us and stayed on top of it until they had found a crew who could help us at the needed time. We did have to pay extra for that, unfortunately, which affected my rating. We also arrived later than the crew because of traffic jams on the freeways when we arrived in town, so there was an extra half-hour charge for that.

      unprofessional

      The sml workers were ghetto, rude, unprofessional with a bad attitude. They were very loud and were more interested in their conversation than they were in doing the job. They have no respect for the clients nor their belongings. Also, I was quoted $179 for 2 workers for 2 hours. Upon checking my account not only was the $179 removed, an extra $110 was also taken. I've tried calling many times to no avail. This company is very dishonest and their workers have no training or respect. I will never use their services again and I'll make sure friends and family know not to use them as well.

      Awful All Around.

      The movers were over an hour late but no one from the company felt it useful to call and explain why. I called six different times, talked to six different morons, and got six, "I will check on that and call you back" answers. Then, after cursing on the phone with a rep, was told to "not use that language" because "it's never acceptable." Seriously? You're going to not give me any answers and then tell me how to speak? Give me a break. Turns out they swapped out a mover and didn't feel like letting us know until I called and demanded information. Then, the movers they sent were useless. I don't think they've ever moved anything before. Save yourself stress and don't hire these idiots.

      Licensed?

      Beware! This business was hired through Penske to do a load swap after our moving truck broke down. We specifically asked if the movers were licensed and bonded. The movers who showed up as well as the employer I spoke with on the telephone said they were. As it turns out, SML's FMCSA operating status was revoked months ago (it is currently September 2014) and is currently listed as "NOT AUTHORIZED" at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov. I am not sure if they can still provide moving labor, but they certainly can't operate your moving vehicle. A second team of movers had to come repack SML's poor packing job, and there is an incredible amount of damage, even to items in hard-sided Tupperware bins. We are awaiting an assessment of damage, but I would guess it will take thousands of dollars and many months to repair or replace items. SML has not returned any of my calls or responded to email. Also, if they are hired to complete your load swap DO NOT sign any forms limiting their liability or job completion until you have spoken to the company who hired them and gotten the go ahead (in our case, Penske). Take a copy or picture of any forms. Be sure to take pictures of the packing periodically…

      Poor Experience - Contact Moving Companies Directly for Better Service.

      I had a very mixed -- but generally poor -- experience with SML ProMovers. My biggest complaint is about the subcontracted ProMovers in Baton Rouge.

      Pick-Up: While I was contacted by SML two days ahead, the subcontracted movers (ABBA Movers) did not call until 9:30pm the night before my 8am move. (I understand this is not SML's fault directly, but since they were the contracting company, the blame also falls on them.) ABBA instructed me that night to bring additional supplies that I was not able to get before the pick-up time of 8am. At pick-up, I had two young movers in sweats who spent a chunk of the spent time on the clock on their phones texting and talking with friends. All but 5 boxes and furniture were ready to go, so this was not downtime, but rather wasted time. This was frustrating as I had to pay for an extra hour since they were not able to get everything in the truck within the three hours allotted. Had I had the requested materials due to proper notice and had the movers not spent so much time on their phones, I believe it would have kept the total time under 3 hours and saved me $95. I have a hard time imagining that they were bonded and insuranced as…

      SML poor packing and poor service.

      Use anyone but these guys.  It appears they contract out the work.  Two "pro movers" were contracted to load a 26 foot Penske truck(Penske performance and service were exceptional).  Movers arrived two hours late, and left after three hours, with the job not completed.  We called SML, and the movers returned an hour later, completing the job.  Good thing they did, because they left all their tools behind when they left the first time.  SML movers failed to adequately utilize the blankets at their disposal, resulting in thousands of dollars of damage to our household goods.  Two weeks later I personally packed another Penske truck, resulting in no damgage for the trip to Phoenix.  We made a claim for damages with SML, and they offered a free movie through Redbox while we waited, a total value of one dollar.  What an insult!  In response, two months later we received a total of $75 dollars for damages.  The damages were solely the result of SML's shoddy packing job.  Buyer beware.  Read the contact.  SML will pay for damages during the loading process and unloading process only, not for damages as a result of their totally inadequate packing.  I am guessing that their business…

Worth the peace of mind!

The experience was pleasant and easy from the start to finish. Also, very trustworthy company and fair priced. I felt comfortable and confident about the hired movers. The company is also easy to reach and speak with a live person. I appreciated the confirmation at the end of the loading process by phone, and wanting to know if there were any issues and whether I was satisfied with the work. I would hire this company again for my next move, even if the cost is more.

Only one mover showed up.

I had labor only service through SML using "Labor Ready". Only one mover, Tom, came.  The other mover couldn't find my home.  My 70 year old brother-in-law and I help with the unloading and I now have extreme back pain.  I refuse to pay the full $218.90.  Please send a copy of my bill.

Great experience, on time, no damage, faster than expected! the price was fair. the movers were professional. they called ahead , during and after the move to make sure we were satisfied. they were very nice, and we will use them again. they were on time for their appointment and were expedtious. I could not imagine a better experience. the next time we need movers, we will call SML. I got their name from Penske and was very happy with their recommendation. .

Great Experience.

Loaders showed up 10 minutes early and did a great job with our 2 bedroom house. Could not have been a smoother move, including the Penske rental. SML kept in touch to confirm and re-confirm right up to and including the move day and were always a phone call away to answer questions. The price was extremely reasonable. Highly recommended!

Arrived in a timely manner. They moved furniture into house without damage to the furniture or house. Truck was emptied and furniture moved in within the 3 hours allocated. Two individuals that were sent were careful and responsive to directions for furniture locations.

Profesional loaders.

The men loading truck were very good and did a good job thanks very much for your expertise and professionalism. I would recommend SML any time and with the discounts from Penske truck rental the move was made much easier and went off without any glitches .I hope this review helps any one who would like to use this company for there next move.

Great moving experience.

This was a great moving experience. Both guys were very good friendly, and knowledgeable. Process was very efficient and all the move work was done in a very timely manner. Guys arrived on time. Their help allowed the move to take place in a safe manner , no damages and lovely crew. Would definitely recommend and use sml again for future moves.

Contracted to Unload Penske Truck.

I drove a Penske truck to Florida and used SML to unpack and set up an apartment. Movers, well actually unpackers, were great. Worked quickly and did the job very well. Movers came a bit late but were courteous to call and say they were running a bit late. Can never tell with Florida traffic.

Highly recommend and would definately use again.

Long distance move.

We hired loaders and unloaders for our big move. The loaders were an hour late and never gave us our bolts to our bed (we still have never found them to this day). They were overall very nice and nothing broke on the way there.

The unloaders were another story. They were basically fighting with each other and couldn't care less about our stuff. The only one who seemed to care was the leader (He also made a comment about how poorly our truck was packed). The other two guys seemed to have never moved anyone before. They were so careless with everything, scratched up our furniture, dragged our mattress across the ground. I was so happy when they were done! I'll never use SML again. I've always had wayyyy better experiences with two men and a truck. We only went through SML because of the discount with Penske.

I was making a move from one state to another and was very easy to setup.The guys were on time for my move and were efficient. they were all done in just under 2 hrs. Was a good move on both ends. It was raining when they got to unload in Pa. but did an efficient job doing the unload also.

A smooth move!

Everything went great from the first phone call to SML to the last box being carried up our 60 steps to the top floor. (and not one complaint from the movers.) We had to reschedule one time, which was easily done. The movers got everything in quickly and professionally.

Poor Rating.

The property was DAMAGED. Upon filing a claim. SML was never concerned about investigating the issue. Only out to protect the Company of course! The loaders in Dayton Ohio were UNPROFESSIONAL and clearly INEXPERIENCED. VERY UNSATISFIED AND DISAPPOINTED.

Simple moving labor helped make my move from Florida to Georgia much easier, and much less expensive than if I had hired a moving company. One team loaded my rental truck. Fast, efficient, and careful with my stuff. Another team met me in GA and unloaded the truck into my storage space.

Would NOT recommend.

I have contracted professional movers in the past and if you are looking for that service..this is not it.  They are "contractors" that "contract" Labor Ready to move you.  They don't do anything other than make a phone call for you.   If you are looking for a middle man to place a simple call to "Labor Ready" for you and charge you an insane upcharge..then this is the place for you.   When we contracted SML to help us move..we thought they have staffed, professional movers, and this is just not the case.  When they receive your phone call..apparently they make a phone call themselves straight to Labor Ready..a phone call you could have made.  We had respectable gentlemen help us move however we were charged a premium price for a sub-premium service.     The helpers on the "un-pack" side actually had NO EXPERIENCE moving and refused to pick up heavy dressers that I ended up moving myself.  If I had wanted simple laborers I would have gone to Labor Ready myself..but I was under the impression SML was a relocation service/moving company..I was wrong.   I don't normally write reviews but I needed to voice my opinion here.  If you want simple labor help..go straight to Labor Ready and save yourself a ton of money.  Or if you want experienced movers..contract with a moving company..at least the labor end of it.  ---I couldn't fill out the Customer Service review of this review because it WASN'T SML that moved us..it was Labor Ready.  .

Great Movers.

We arranged for two guys to load our truck.  We couldn't believe how fast they had our entire apartment loaded.  We were concerned that the truck we rented wasn't going to be big enough but they kept telling us "no problem".  The truck was packed tightly and our belongings made it 2800 miles with no damage.  We would definitely use SML again!
