To place my order, all arrangements, contacts during my trip (Chicago to Arizona) - that was just a pleasure!

Team in Il area to upload truck - 3 people show on time, very nice, no problem with communication. They did a GREAT JOB. From 2nd floor, 26 ft truck was packed with my son's help in 2.5 hours. NOTHING BROKE! Unfortunately in AZ to unload - 2 people, no stairs, again with my son's help and my strong comments at the beginning they did the job on time.
In general I'm happy that I used Penske's recommendation.
SML is a great company, strongly recommend their service!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $600

Scheduled a small move 2 weeks before. Signed their "contract". Then, on day of move, 5 mins after they were due, got a call that they were never able to secure movers for my date. But, here's the big news!- they said they never charged my credit card! Whoooppee! Really?! I was screwed.Had to move out of my apartment. Begged Two Men and a Truck and they cam thru like champs. DO NOT USE SML Moving. You will regret. Trust me, no one even follow up called to apologize or anything. Lots of smiling employees on their website which makes me even madder.

Very unprofessional workers, rude, constantly going out smocking, Movers left open space in the center of truck where they just throw boxes and small pieces in the center. All heavy furniture was stuck on one side only, which was unbalanced. After paying $880.00 per 6,5 hours, we realised, there is no way we can send this load to another State. Customers services, manager were useless, did absolutely nothing, after spending long time on the phone and requesting people to come and fix the loading, manager refused all compliance, said "it was your decision to hire us, you signed paper" Yes, we signed paper BEFORE we saw the result!! They offered refund 10%!! We had to hire different people to UNLOAD and reload in the order and balance.
Wasting time and $880.00 We were very disappointed. Also company has a survey form to fill out right there in front of workers, and then they claim tips!! And there is (in this Company) nobody to take responsibility. After all, they offered us 10% discount on the next time we order. I will NEVER use this Company or recommend it. Complete wasting of time and money!!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $880

This company promised to have movers who would disassemble and assemble what I needed them to. Also, they said the movers would shrink wrap at place of move out then unwrap at the new location. Why partial satisfaction? Well, at place of move out in San Diego, the two movers were great. They worked hard to disassemble and wrap everything I needed them to, as well as being careful with my things. Then, when I got to my new place in Fairfield, the movers there were terrible. Extremely rough with all my items, put the boxes and furniture where they wanted when they should ask me where I want the furniture before setting it down. I felt like they were in a huge rush and one mover also was super rough, he even knicked the wall paint off. My dining table was also knicked. That’s not even the worst part. The worst part was they told me they are not allowed to unwrap the shrink wrap or assemble my furniture. What in the world? That’s crazy, because SML promised to have movers do that for me. So basically, they left me with boxes misplaced everywhere, damaged items, and furniture that was taken apart and not put back together. I tried to call SML right away to let them know this problem, but they were already closed. I called the next day and couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Basically, I gave up and cut my losses, but I will never ever use this company ever again and will tell everyone I know the terrible experience that I had.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $600

Here is my timeline and experience with SML.

Picked up my beautiful Penske truck at 7:30 AM and got back home at 8:00 AM. SML movers scheduled to arrive at 9:30 AM.

Called at 9:45 to see where my movers were. SML said they should be onsite and would look into it and call be back in 10 -15 mind. Called back again for an update 15 minutes later. SML said they are still working on it and a manager would call me back very soon.

At 10:32, Meg called to say we are looking for a backup crew. We have 4 others in the area and base on there availability, we will send them over and she would call me back with an update in 30 minutes. I asked about a credit, and she said, yes based on the delay time, SML would discount my labor cost accordingly. She promised to definitely get movers here today. If no call is received from Meg, I plan on calling back at 11:07.

Went online UHaul.com to line up movers. Paid the cost for 2 movers and 4 hours. It was cheaper by about 200 bucks. Put the order in for same day service and got a call from a local mover. He said, he would try to work something out today to get assist.

Called SML back at 11:17 - Pressed 2 to check on my move. Asked for Meg, back on hold.
Could not speak with Meg, but someone else said Meg's supervisor, Michael, is apparently working on my order. They will call me back when they have information. I decided to touch base with SML every 30 minutes, for an update. Next call to SML will be at 11:50.

11:30 AM. Uhaul movers are on there way.

Meg with SML called back at 11:39 to say the original crew was dispatched this morning, but the home office does not know what happens to them. They were having car problems, and apparently the crew has not called in for a status update. Meg said that is strange because they have a high rating with SML. She also said they are still working to get a backup crew scheduled to come out ASAP. Apparently all the SML crews are 1.5 hours driving distance from me and I live 30 minutes from Charleston. Hmmm..

Called SML back at 12:00 PM, pressed two, because I am an existing customer and now I am on hold again. Oh S**T IT'S LUNCH TIME.. After 5 minutes the

UHaul movers showed up at 12:05.

Done with SML - called for a total refund. Confirmed.

Then is started raining :(.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $600

I needed to get out of the apartment I was in on a particular day otherwise if would have told this mover to stop and leave. They were late by 2 hours, I requested a 3 man and he didn't show up for 4 1/2 hours. I had a very expensive $7000 bedroom set that they didn't care about. They were in such a hurry to get to another job they were careless and didn't care how they treated my possessions. This was a company that was outsourced by SML and I would never recommend them.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1500

The father and 2 adult sons who loaded our truck were fantastic. They showed up in their window of time and brought many heavy-duty dollies. The father had 23 years of experience; the three of them worked great together. They were polite, had a sense of humor, and worked very hard. The father actually packed our truck and then we drove for 2 days from Washington DC to Fort Myers, FL. Nothing was amiss when we opened the truck to unload by ourselves. Very satisfied with our great DC crew.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $259

This move was a disaster from day one. The movers underestimated the size of the truck we needed and the afternoon of the move told us they would need another truck to finish. We couldn't obtain another truck until the following morning which required additional expense for the truck and labor to complete the loading not to mention putting us behind by a day in our move. The unloading revealed quite a bit of damage due to improper packing by the movers. There were plenty of blankets but they did not use them all which was inexcusable. The claim process was a nightmare with communication one way - us to them. After waiting almost 90 days we finally received a paltry sum from them which in no way compensates us for the damages. Run, don't walk, away from this outfit as there are better services out there in the same price range.

Service cost: $4800

SML was very curtious on the phone when planning my move.  They were clear and accurate of their description of terms.  SML helped me unload my truck, which we loaded and drove ourselves.  SML hooked me up with DTen Moving Services, LLC to unload my trucks.  Which they were only expecting one truck and I only expected them to unload one, but they were more than willing to unload both.  Jason and Andy were curtious, clean, and friendly.  Jason called me prior to my move and I instantly made to feel comfortable with his services.  Once they arrived onsite, they were ready to work.  And they worked quickly, accuratly and were always concerend of their quality and maintaining the quality of our home and belongings.

Service cost: $300

I'm sorry I don't remember the coordinators names, but they were all very nice.  The complaint I have is not with the coordinators or the helpers (Charlie and Ricky were very polite and very willing to please), but with the fact that the company sends these men out unprepared to protect themselves or the furnishing.  The poor guys worked themselves hard with no equipment to protect their backs or themselves from injuries.  the company has no consideration for what they will suffer in the future.   I think it is very sad that they send warehouse guys out who are ill prepared to handle the job safely.  Next week I am using a company that sends their employees with equipment and they are less expensive.

Where to start!?  The movers were suppose to be there at 9:00 am Saturday morning and by 10:00 AM we still had no movers , so I decided to call. The person who answered the phone said they forgot to give the guys the confirmation to be there at nine and and they would be there by 12. So we are paying $350.00 for three hours, we have now waited on them for three hours- So the question is how much does SML think three hours of my time is worth? The refund was $70.00. I truly believe this company is a huge rip-off and very unprofessional.  .

I recently rented a Penske truck and with that rental was an opportunity to connect with Simple Moving Labor. This was a perfect solution to my needs. Living on the third floor with no elevators presents the obvious challenge. The two gentlemen showed up promptly and were very professional with getting right down to business. They worked together very well. In two and a quarter hours the job was complete and I'm totally satisfied. I will definitely keep this company on my contact list for future jobs. I hope others have the same experience as I did with my loaders. Thank you!

I've had horrible experiences with movers during previous same-city moves, which made me dread arranging a cross-country move. The moving industry is replete with companies that low-ball you on an intial quote & then up-charge you on the day of when you have no choice but to play along. SML is a bit different in that they contract with local companies for the actual move. But that ensures that you have one single point of contact for the whole process, & they guarantee that their quote is actually 100% binding. Their customer service was fantastic & we didn't have to negotiate pricing at the last minute. Plus the crews they hired for the load/unload were very good, as was the driver. We did experience some minor damage but SML was efficient about providing us with a refund per the RVV rate & we didn't have to fight with them to get it. We were lucky enough not to have any real issues with the movers' arrival time or anything like that, but SML gave me confidence that they would've handled any problems that arose. I'm hoping we don't have to move again for a long time, but if we do, I'd definitely use SML. They were slightly more expensive than some other movers (at least theoretically--I'm very skeptical of many of those quotes) but the psychological benefits of their customer service & no-BS pricing were well worth the cost.

When delivered I had lots of damage due to a very loading job. I latterly saw them pitch two bikes over the last bulk head and hard telling where they landed or on what.  After sending pictures of the damage to the company, they have denied any responsibility to the damages.  The men in California said they hadn't seen such a poor loading job and I paid extra to get the professional loaders.  Anyone considering these people to load your move is out of their mind.  .

Service cost: $1000

I had a very mixed -- but generally poor -- experience with SML ProMovers. My biggest complaint is about the subcontracted ProMovers in Baton Rouge.
Pick-Up: While I was contacted by SML two days ahead, the subcontracted movers (ABBA Movers) did not call until 9:30pm the night before my 8am move. (I understand this is not SML's fault directly, but since they were the contracting company, the blame also falls on them.) ABBA instructed me that night to bring additional supplies that I was not able to get before the pick-up time of 8am. At pick-up, I had two young movers in sweats who spent a chunk of the spent time on the clock on their phones texting and talking with friends. All but 5 boxes and furniture were ready to go, so this was not downtime, but rather wasted time. This was frustrating as I had to pay for an extra hour since they were not able to get everything in the truck within the three hours allotted. Had I had the requested materials due to proper notice and had the movers not spent so much time on their phones, I believe it would have kept the total time under 3 hours and saved me $95. I have a hard time imagining that they were bonded and insuranced as promised. Also frustrating was the fact that I had to go into the truck multiple times during the drive to resecure items that they poorly fastened, like my motorcycle, despite the fact that I provided ample tie-downs and straps. Luckily no damage occurred there. The same cannot be said for my couch that ended up with laundry detergent all over it due to poor securing and no furniture pad wrapping by the crew. Very disappointed with the Baton Rouge side of the move. I plan to report ABBA's service to the BBB.
Unload: I had a much better experience unloading with the contracted ProMovers from Pick Up and Go Movers. They arrived on time and were professionally dressed. They were very efficient and unloaded the entire truck in under two hours. Unforutnately, they did break a bookcase unloading but referred me to their company to pay for damages since they said SML would not cover this. Waiting to see what comes of the claim. Overall a better class act than ABBA Movers.

Service cost: $798

Movers on front end were polite and hard working but because of the packing method quite a bit oThe f my furniture had rub marks when unloaded. Laborers on back end showed up late, we very slow (my friend and I moved more from the truck than they did.)  One or both of them stole my heart medicine from my house while my friend and I were busy doing their job.  The company claims no responsibility and still charged my the full amount even after I called to complain that they were late and slow.  I found that the medicine was missing a few hours after they had left and reported to the Sheriffs department.   I would NEVER recomend this company.  Don't use them unless you have enough people to watch every move they make.

Service cost: $631

I used this service to have 2 people unload the moving truck in August. I was very satisfied with it and the price was reasonable ($90 deposit plus $128 the day of unloading). However, now in November, I was reviewing my credit card statement and noticed that Simple Movers charged my credit card $264. I used this service in August and they're fraudulantly charging my credit card for some other service? I disputed it with my credit card company and reached out to Simple Movers to cancel this charge, remove all of my information, and give me an explanation. The office isn't open yet for a response, but what kind of company charges you correctly for their services, then months later charges your credit card again for no services and with no authorization? Ridiculous. I'm calling the Better Business Bureau.

I was recommended to this company thru Penski.  The fellows were late but did call and say they were on their way.  When they arrived, they went right to work. SML misrepresented the services I would be getting.  I was told I could get two or three regular guys without professional equipment (dollies, etc) or get two or three professionals. Of course the professionals were more expensive.  Since I had a washer/dryer, etc.  I paid for the professional.  The young men that arrived had no equipment whatsoever and loaded my truck the best they could without it. The amount of furniture I had took less than an hour to load but SML has a 3 hr minimum.  I feel cheated as the services I received were not the services I paid for. They don't care, because they have my money now.  Be careful. .
