Simple Moving Labor

The SML professional packers showed up in the appointment window. They worked hard and were done in just under 3 hours. I was under a time constraint due to the closing time and they got it done! I did have to leave a Christmas tree, but they got everything else in the truck. I was very pleased to be able to get out of town later that day. For the unload, the un-loading crew, came on time and made quick work of the unloading. Due to the fact that my table got packed without taking the legs (time constraint) off the table, it did stick on the door to the truck so got scratched> Otherwise, everything was intact, even the breakable items that I wrapped and packed myself.   I recommend SML to anyone who has to move. It is a stressful time and the SML workers provided awesome service so I did not have to worry about the part of the move. Cheryl R.

We moved from another state here to Hillsboro Oregon, and were very pleased with the movers we had through SML. All three of them were extremely polite, very efficient and also very careful with our things. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is moving! I don't know how many more characters you need me to type since you're not giving me a count of what I have already typed. It is first telling me 250 characters are needed, but then when I finish it tells me I have to type 350 characters. This is the only part of your company I do not like!! I am giving you an honest review, but to tell me how much I have to type seems ridiculous.

I was referred through Penske Truck Rental.  The people on the phone at SML were easy to deal with and efficient.  I was quite satisfied.  UNTIL the two so called "professional movers" showed up.  They took a little over 8 hours to load a 3 bedroom condo.  I am a female and I was there alone and I felt I was taken advantage of.  One guy seemed to be in charge and stayed inside the truck most of the time doing the arranging and straped and securing the load inside the truck.  The problem is he kept talking to ME about it, like he was consulting me the whole time - where's the professional in that?  The other guy likened himself to the incredicble hulk and would pick up something FAR too heavy and carry it by himself.  I was terrified he was going to drop it.  He carried a recliner all the way down a flight of stairs.  This seemed ridiculous to me.  He could have hurt himself, he could have done damage to the condo or the furniture.  It was not "professional".  They didn't seem to have any tools or any knowledge of how to take things apart and that pretty much fell to me.  I took apart the king size platform bed and also the dining table.  If I hadn't, I think they would still probably be loading.  It was beyond ridiculous.  My condo was only 1200 square feet.  The company was from Milwaukee - JC Triplett and Sons.  I have seen good reviews for them, but those good reviews were for the unload.  I feel I was taken advantage of and the two guys they sent to my load were very nice and polite, but did not in my opinion qualify to be called professional movers.  I was VERY unhappy.  I will say that nothing was broken or damaged.   The company that was sent to do the unload in Texas was a completely different story.  They worked hard and fast and THEY put all the furniture together.  It's almost like they were running the whole time.  I cannot say enough positive things about these guys.  They were friendly and funny and hard workers.  When I told them how long the guys in Milwaukee took to load the truck they couldn't believe it.   This moving labor cost me $1,200 and it just shouldn't have - that was with a $225 discount from Penske.  This is a ridiculous price.  I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

We loaded our Penske Truck in Maryland and moved to Ohio. I hired two movers to load and they were very good. They worked quickly, were gentlemen, and took good care of our possessions. Great experience. On the other hand..on the Ohio end..terrible movers. They were lazy, not courteous, not motivated..and I did ALL of the actually unloading from the truck just to ensure they kept moving. The two guys wanted to take breaks every 15 minutes and I had to ask one of the guys to quit smoking. The smoker also used our bathroom and smelled up the entire house. He did not bother to even turn on the fan and close the door when finished. Had I not kept pushing they would have spent the entire day unloading just to get paid more. I will not use SML in Ohio again but I highly recommmend them in Maryland.

Overall the company was very easy to work with and easy to schedule my move. I scheduled two uninsured movers to help download my truck for two hours. Both movers showed up on time and were polite. I was very dissatisfied with the performance of one of the movers. He was lazy, unprofessional and was in very poor shape. If you can't provide clear guidance and are expecting movers to complete tasks on their own I suggest spending the money on professional movers. At the end of the day I got the move complete and that's all I really cared about.

Simple moving labor provided professional teams, who were very friendly. There was a difference between the teams in efficiency, which was to be expected. The first team was late, but they at least called us before their appointment time to inform us that they were stuck in traffic and going to be late. We had a lot of furniture, including a piano, and boxes to load onto our truck. Overall they did a good job, and my furniture made it my the new location in good shape. I will likely use this service again next time I move, but hopefully that is a long way away!

The team that helped me in Colorado was excellent in every way. They were on time, called me to say they were on the way, did a great job and were quick and efficient. They packed the truck so well that nothing moved over the 2000 mile trip.  The team in Florida were 1.5 hours late. They did call to say they would be late. They did an okay job but we're not as professional nor as fast as the Colorado movers. They were adequate and finished in the time allotted.  I would recommend this service to anyone moving. The moving company kept in touch, arranged everything, checked to make sure how they were doing. Before I had hired people off Craigslist, they did not show up. I liked that they were professional movers who knew how to load a truck, move heavy items, etc.  .

The two men SML hired to help  unload our truck arrived early to help unload our truck.  We had to to hire unprofessional movers since professional movers were not offered in our area.  The two men that came out to help were extremely professional and willing to help in any way to get the truck unloaded.  They were polite and made the moving experience easy and well worth the hired help.  We had a few heavy and bulky items that they were able to unload without any issues.  It took about an hour and half to unload a 26 foot truck. The cost was reasonable.  The unloading of the truck went smoothly and I highly recommend SML.

If you want your heart broken along with your precious items, definitely give these pricks a call.I've got the game down and here's how it goes.They hire people off the street, from homeless shelters, recent parolees, salvation army or YMCA tenants to move your stuff.To make a long story short, I recently moved from Naperville, IL to Los Angeles. Took a 22 foot myself and another driver from point A to point B. The guys who loaded me did a good job in arranging everything tightly but didn't wrap hardly anything so a bunch of my things got broken, scratched and ruined. Further, they took my pool table and turned it upside down scratching and denting all 4 corner pockets. One of the movers, took the balls and put them in with my Easter decorations. I never asked them to touch anything with the pool table and then I go to fill out a claims form and it states that "we do not insure pool tables". Weeeeeeeeeee How about I didn't ask your fellas from the south side of Chicago to touch my pool table.Further, one guy was screwing around with my basketball hoop, tried dunking and broke the entire medal stand. They rigged it with wood and tape. Here's what got damaged on the way:

1. Portrait of myself my mom painted of me when I was 4. Elbow is now ripped. They didn't wrap it.
2. Scooter is severely scratched in two places.
3. Cut crystal candy dish broken in half that my Mom had given me.
4. Wine glasses/Beer Mugs broken.
5. Older TV scratched on top.
6. Bicycle pedals damaged.
7. King size canopy bed severely scratched.

Too much more to mention and I'm not even done packing yet..Now, they send "helpers" to unload with NO equipment..I hired them before I knew all of the above was done. Here comes two guys that are just unbelievable. So slow it took 7 hours to unload the truck.The neighboring construction business let them use grocery store shopping carts. If they wouldn't have had that, it would have been 1 box at a time. That's the way SML wants it. The longer these boobs are there, the more SML makes, get it?? I got it and I got it good. Up the you know what.One guy dropped a case of wine getting out of the elevator. Glass and wine all over. Didn't bother to try and clean it up. I get back to the condo and here is a case of wine, glass and all in the sink. I'm now in tears. The condo association got called and said if I didn't go out and clean it up, they would have it shampooed and charge me for my own wine that I had been saving for years. Christmas plates that were over 40 years old got dropped. Again too much to mention. They sent out another HUGE [EDIT] guy that was so gay it was funny. He wasn't about to lift anything and only did so when I asked if he was going to help the other two. What a fiasco. Mickey Mouse scene.They charged me double what I was quoted. My bank paid it. I'm disputing it now.Look for this on an episode of SNL and I WILL name names. I'm slamming this company whenever and wherever I can.

A bit pricey, but you pay for timesaving and convenience.  This is a very professional and well-run company.  Outstanding service every time that I communicated with them on the telephone. I needed two hours help loading, then unloading, a truck at each end of my move.  I opted for the non-professional "helpers." The labor that was provided was a bit better than what I expected to be honest.  Also, I was able to change the unloading date due to making better time driving cross-country than what I had planned.  This was no problem.

Service cost: $443

We hired professionals to load for moving from St. Louis to Kansas City area because we got a discount from Penske.  The 3 men were on time, polite, capable, however they went over by 1 hour before we discontinued their service; and all our belongings were not packed on the truck.  My husband and I had to finish loading the next day to cut the expense! The load was packed very professional, however we were disappointed the extra hour and not all loaded.  Also, the company contracted for our load either were not told by SML to bring needed tools or their manager didn't relate that information.  They came with no tools except a handtruck.  We had made other arrangements prior for the unloading.  The representatives that I spoke with at SML were all very courteous and friendly, and I spoke with at least five of them; however I would have preferred to have known the labor was contracted out; just FYI! SML followed up daily starting 3 days before the service and throughout the day of service.  Overall, I would probably use again, but I would be better prepared with ordering additional packing necessities prior to the move.

If you would like to hire someone that will damage a new $500 wine fridge and make a hole in your wall as they drop it, then these are the guys for you.  The guy tried to deny the damage when he admitted to carrying the fridge and their was part of the wall on it.  They only gave me $30 for the fridge and do not want to pay for the $200 in damage to the wall.  I've asked to speak to someone in the corporate office to no success.  I will tell anyone that will listen that this company is a scam.  Worst customer service ever.  Very unprofessional.

They showed up on time for loading, however, they don't know how to pack a truck, otherwise we could of fit everything on it and wouldn't have had to go back for the rest.
The Unloading they were late and that is only cause the driver from Labor services wouldn't call again for directions so he just took the crew back and they had to find a different way here. When they got here they were very careful with everything and very polite. Even after all was unloaded they asked if we needed help with anything else. We found that considerate.

Service cost: $428

Workers were on time, worked hard, had good manners.  They could have used the packing blankets better as my furniture arrived with scratches on the dining room set legs and 2 office chairs legs and  deep dents that have not come out in 2 of my leather chairs and tears in myadult tricycle seat.  For the quality of their work, we WAY over tipped at $100/person plus lunches and beverages for the 2 days they worked for us.  Half of that would have been more appropriate! I was told that they were professional and I would not need to oversee the loading. I might use them again, but I would supervise the loading.

I had a great experience with SML Labor. I was conveniently connected to them by Penske after renting a truck to move from Illinois to Ohio. Although I was nervous about getting everything coordinated as our move was pretty time sensitive, SML Labors office staff made me feel confident by staying in touch by phone through the process. The movers we had were for an unload only. They arrived on time, were neat in appearance, professional, friendly and courteous. Overall, my experience was positive and would recommend SML Labor to a friend.
