Shleppers Moving & Storage

My fiancé and I needed to move from Washington heights, NY to the upper east side. To start, booking their services is very easy. I made numerous changes to our agreement on what they were going to move for me and was always met with a positive attitude on the other end. The movers were polite, fast and efficient. One of the most impressive things was that they were able to navigate the narrow streets of my block on the upper east side and find parking with their truck. The movers placed everything where we wanted. We are extremely satisfied and would highly recommend shleppers to anyone who needs to move. They’re worthy every penny!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $700

I had to move everything out of my apt to renovate. The job was supposed to take two days- day one was packing everything and day two was the move itself. A team of three people showed up the first day and proceeded to throw all of my things into boxes. The kitchen items were wrapped well buy everything else was just thrown into boxes- clothes, shoes, medicines, toiletries, etc. No care at all. Even my deceased mom’s antiques were shoddily wrapped and thrown in boxes. I kept asking them to be more careful but they couldn’t care less. Then they left around 2p with only maybe 1/4 of the job completed. They came back the second day with an extra person to help (who didn’t wear any deodorant and stunk) and again proceeded to rush the packing. We were supposed to get to the new rental apt by 11a but they didn’t finish packing until after 8p! We had to beg the rental to allow us to use the freight elevator at 9p at night. Again, boxes were thrown around, my furniture was banged up, they mixed up what was going to storage and what was going to the rental apt, and they even left many items behind, including a large console. I took pictures but can’t upload them here. I spent thousands of dollars to Shleppers for the shoddiest move I ever experienced. I have so many more awful details to share but I can’t even stomach thinking about it any longer. I would advise anyone looking to move to stay far away from these people! I wish I would’ve known to do so before I hired them!

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $4500

We used Shleppers for a local move, from a 2BR apartment to a 4BR house. We have a LOT of stuff, but the Shleppers team handled it like pros! 4 of them showed up on day 1 to do all of the packing, and they did a great job. We didn't know where everything ended up, but it was all packed well and they didn't miss anything. Jay (the leader) was 100% professional and really set the tone for his team. They were all polite, respectful, friendly, appreciative (of water, snacks, etc.) and STRONG! The packing took a full day, and was not easy .. but they all came back the next day for the move. About an hour before the truck was supposed to arrive at our new home, we had a major leak in the ceiling of our DR (from renovation wrapup). This delayed the move because parts of the house were off limits until the repairs could be finished. Jay and his guys weren't fazed, and just kept working. No matter how many boxes they carried up or down the stairs, they kept working hard and kept up their positive attitudes. We did have two items broken: one leg on an antique desk was broken (which they fixed on the spot) and the marble base of our lamp cracked in half. We could tell that they felt genuinely bad about it, and appreciated their responses. They worked a LONG day, and did an amazing job! We would definitely hire them again, and would happily recommend them for anyone else planning a move.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4100

The movers were on time, and professional. They got everything I asked them to cleared out of the apartment and moved, and moved into the new one plus put together beds, cribs, and a sofa within 5 hours total. Pricing for the move was as expected and speed was good. Packing and unpacking is unpleasant, but Shleppers definitely didn't add any stress to the situation. I hope I don't need to move again anytime soon, but if I do, I would definitely use Shleppers again.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $910

I had the most incredible experience with my move yesterday.

1. I had to book the move last minute and on Friday last week they were able to book a move for Monday
2. They were available all weekend to modify my quote and answer my questions, awesome customer service
3. Monday morning the 3 movers arrived right on time
And they took care of everything!! We didn’t have to lift a finger, they were friendly and thorough and took amazing care of our stuff
4. Our new apartment looks amazing because they set it up great

Shleppers was very professional and organized. They quoted the job and stuck with the quote. They did not try to add any additional unexpected charges. They laid out exactly how the move would take place- sending people the day before to prepare everything to be easily taken out of my house the next morning since I was moving to NYC and the building had restricted moving times. The guys were great-nice and hard working. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable about the move. Throughout the time the guys were doing the move I received three calls from the office to ensure that everything was going smoothly. I am very satisfied and would definitely recommend.

Shleppers saved the day & me from a scam moving company. Liberty Moving Group from NJ gave me a call after I used a moving website to request quotes from moving companies in my area. I spoke with Derrick and outlined the following: I was looking to only move my bedroom set furniture and a couch from my living room, I lived on a 4th floor walkup in NYC and was moving to a 3rd floor walkup in CT. On my moving day, Liberty started hitting me with additional charges (stairs, etc) and to move a very small amount of furniture, my quote increased from $1000 to $1920 ($1600 + tip), almost 2x the original quote. I was extremely uncomfortable with the updated quote and with the guys, themselves. I simply did not trust them, I had a feeling that the $1920 pricing would only go up from there since they were to be paid by the hour and I did not want to have my things held hostage. I cancelled Liberty Group movers right then and there, parted ways with them amiably (thank goodness), called up Shleppers immediately and scheduled a move with them based on a prior quote for the next day, Sunday. 24 hours later! Working with Shleppers in comparison to working with Liberty Group was like night and day! Shleppers quoted me $1289, they showed up early at 8:15 (slated to arrive between 9-10am), did the job in an hour, drove everything up, got everything setup in the new place within an hour or so - it was perfect!! I worked with Jacinda then Shayna at Shleppers to set everything up, they were both amazing and then Bob and his team of movers were friendly, experienced and efficient. Shleppers didn't have any additional charges, so I ended up paying $1600 with tip included - the updated base rate that the scam artists Liberty Moving Group was trying to push on me. Great learning lesson for me, I hope that my experience helps other people as well. I will use Shleppers for future moves for sure! Thank you Shleppers! You guys rock, thanks for being my moving heroes :).
