Shleppers Moving & Storage

We got quotes from three companies, and Shleppers was the lowest by far. They had great online reviews, so we went with them. That was a huge mistake. The movers completely broke two items, and damaged nine others, taking pains to hide some of the items they broke. The foreman told us not to worry, that customer service would take care of us, but cust svce never returned our repeated phone calls. We finally disputed $500 of the charge with Discover, and Shleppers responded dishonestly, including the astounding claim that WE had not responded to THEIR attempts to reach us. As I was finally considering suing them in court, I reached out one last time - and got the only worthwhile person in the office, Amy, at ext 252. She and I worked the whole thing out in five minutes. I dropped the dispute, she refunded $400, all good, right? The next day, the company CEO sent a nasty email and left an even more disgusting voicemail threatening to bring us to court for committing fraud. Apparently he didn't know that we had dropped the credit card dispute. Instead of inquiring, though, he threatened and insulted us, which was mind-boggling. My wife saw the email first, calmly told him the facts, to which he responded "ok". No apology, nothing. I then heard the VM, read the email, and sent him a tough email in response. He has now escalated, threatening to get me arrested (for what, I have no clue), sending his lawyers after me, calling me a crook, you name it. This company is a total disaster. Luckily for them they have Amy, without whom they might have been sued into oblivion. Should I ever again need a mover, I will look for quotes from companies that do not have to charge exorbitant amounts to cover their advertising budget, and hopefully find a place, through word of mouth, that is honest and decent. It sure won't be Shleppers.

I would like to thank Eric Wolf who is more than just a salesperson, Eric guided me and my husband in what to expect in the whole moving process and was very honest both with pricing and planning. Selling a home and buying another with dates constantly changing, Eric was always available to answer questions and was flexible to constant changes to the move. We interviewed 3 other reputable companies in Westchester but Eric came in with best pricing and was more realistic with his presentation and made us feel comfortable. More importantly we must thank the movers who were considerate, friendly and were very careful with moving our furniture and other precious art pieces. My hat goes off to Will the foreman, the fantastic 4 team (Will, Dorsey, Damian and Antoine) who provided white glove service and should be recognized and awarded. We had some very heavy pieces and was very appreciative for all of there help in organizing the move in a seamless professional manner. Thanks for provided us the A Team

We’ve used Shleppers for our last 3 moves and will continue to use them for future moves. Their consistency — in both execution/process & professionalism of their employees — is remarkable and hugely valuable to us. Their rates are reasonable, communication frequent & very clear (leading up to / during / after the move), and the moving team is hard-working and generally a pleasure to be around. Importantly, they always treat our property as if it is their own — with respect and care.

Couldn’t recommend Shlepper’s enough; wish moving was a more frequent activity so we had more opportunities to work with them!

I first used Shleppers more than 10 years ago, and used them again last month. They remain exceptional -- excellent value in terms of service and price. The movers were professional, friendly and efficient. I was under the weather that day, and they were very patient with me about what needed to packed or donated. FYI, they take donations too, which is also part of their great service. Their customer service was helpful in getting me quotes, without being intrusive or insistent (no daily email reminders to get back to them and book a date, no phone calls). They patiently waited for me to get a firm move date.

If moving stresses you, this is the company to work with. Their team does all of it right, and you can literally just sit back and relax.

I recently used Shleppers for the second time in two years. I decide to use them again because of the extraordinarily helpful and pleasant specialist, Fran, who helped me plan everything and navigate some last minute logistical hiccoughs. I’m very happy I chose Shleppers again.

My movers arrived right on time and made quick work of packing up my apartment, attentive to my requests for some fragile items to be handled with extra care. The delivery at my new apartment was equally efficient.

I will definitely use Shleppers for my next move!

Last month I moved out of a sublet back home while finishing up renovations in an apartment purchase. This move was exceptional - fast, painless, and a good price. Yesterday I moved into said ready apartment and was met with the same service - fast, painless, and fair pricing. The movers were extremely friendly and efficient on both of the moves and everything was in the same condition upon arrival as upon departure. The company is extremely communicative and easily accessible and they deal with COIs with ease. Doing two back-to-back moves with Shleppers, I definitely trust them for future use and recommend their service to others.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $755

The 96 inch couch was moved into the apartment approximately 40 years ago when it was legal to put the sofa on top of the elevator . Apparently it is illegal to use the elevator roof now . The superintendent of the building stated (repeatedly, categorically and arrogantly) that there is no way to get this sofa out. He re-stated several times that it must be destroyed ,”cut in half “ . He has seen this many times because it will not fit down the steps or in the elevator. He also claimed that there was a 3500 fee for moving out of the coop. I guess that is for his ignorant advice. I demanded written proof of this fee from him and the building manager and have yet to see it since demanding it 2 weeks ago. Anyway..

With prodding from me, because I refused to chop up my mothers antique sofa, the Shleppers called a supervisor to the site and they successfully removed the sofa via the steps . It was a second floor apartment, so just one flight. This was heroic to me because my mother left me this sofa and it was her mother’s sofa. So it was over 100 years old and irreplaceable.
Instead of listening to the super who really didn’t know the moving business the moving team called their supervisor who got the job done. I feel sorry for those who may have listened to the super in the past. Thank You Shleppers !

From the initial call to the final payment, these people were on top of everything. The employees were very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and concerns. I received several reminder calls and email and my calls were returned timely. The price they quoted was the price I paid. I was moving one room and it appeared that I was moving the whole apartment based on all the stuff I had and they didn’t even question it. The mover arrived on time and was extremely accommodating. We lived on the fifth floor of a walk up and they appeared not to even notice. They worked quickly and nothing was damaged. A++ service. I would definitely recommend.
