These guys were hired for our move from Wappingers Falls, NY to Lewes, DE at the end of August. In May my wife (without doing her homework on them) hired Fidelity out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. They flat out lied to her when she asked if they were brokers. They said no but that's what they are. Our move was scheduled for August 30th. On the 29th we called Fidelity, and they said a dispatcher would call us between 3-5 PM on when they were coming. We never got a call. On move day we were told they weren't coming until the next day, August 31st (when we absolutely had to be out) and they would come between noon and 3. 3 PM, no show. We call and they say 4-5 PM. Now we're panicking and thinking we got scammed. They finally show up at nearly 6 PM. The only good thing I can say was they moved fast. We had 133 boxes and a few pieces of furniture. Once they packed the truck, they wanted 70% of the bill which was double what we were quoted but we were over a barrel. The new owners were ready to move in. We were told they would deliver to our new home in Lewes, DE the next day (Sept. 1st). They didn't come until Saturday Sept. 3rd. Again, they worked fast and were paid the balance. When they left, they had not put our bed back together and our motorized reclining sofa was not hooked up right. The truck they delivered with was different than the one they picked up with. The extra 2 days they had our stuff they moved from the original truck to who knows where before loading to the new truck. Once unloaded we noticed several boxes crushed or broken. Two floor standing lamps were broken as well as some glassware in a few boxes. They also left behind a small box that wasn't ours and I'm sure we're missing at least one box of our stuff because now that we're unpacked some things are missing. They also somehow managed to bend a drawer and break a caster on my tool chest. I emailed them my concerns and never heard back from them. Calling does no good because you get voicemail or someone who knows nothing. I would give them minus stars if I could.

I want to tell my story in detail because when I was looking for information on those companies I didn’t find much besides many fake reviews. So our moving process started with me calling Value Added Moving company and them giving me an estimate. But the trick they do after you describe in detail all items you need to move is they tell you that you would need much smaller space in the truck than you would actually need and they give you a great discount on that price, but the price for square feet stays the same. So this Value Added Moving company are brokers and look on the market for movers with the truck to come to pick up your stuff. You don’t even know which company will come. So in our case, we were very unlucky and our stuff was picked up by SHMovers. If you call their phone they say something like “Sorry our office was affected by covid 19 and all our limited staff is busy with other customers, the best way to contact us is over email”. There is no call waiting for estimates, or offer to call you back, they send you right to the voice mail. And no matter when you call it’s the same result. One time I tried the extension putting my finger in the air and got to some real person, but then he transferred me back to the broker, who told me that I need to contact SHMovers. So it’s a closed circle.. if any problems and you’ll have lots of those with them for sure there is no way to get to them to solve them. So scammy.

So to continue the story on the day SHMovers picked up our stuff after loading it in the truck they told us that we need to pay two and half times more than the estimate, which was 18K.. we didn’t have the choice we had to pay them, because we had to move that day. We gave them a month to drive from the east to the west coast. But when it got to the delivery date, they said it will take additional 7-21 days to deliver. We have 2 small kids and it was a real challenge to be without any furniture with them in an empty house. Apparently after pick up they unload everything in a local storage facility and then load everything back around the date they were supposed to deliver, so they drive a few more days after that.

So eventually a few days later they arrived.

We needed some paper on outdoor furniture (agricultural matter), but nobody told us anything.. so professional! So our things had to be in quarantine and after delivery, they had to be inspected.

When I was signing the contract the person from Value Added Moving company told us that all items will be disassembled and reassembled at the delivery place and all boxes will be left in the room according to the note on the box. But on the delivery day, it was a mess, they lost some screws from some disassembled furniture and other furniture with screws they refused to assemble. So all disassembled furniture is not useful now. They lost a few other items during that unloading uploading process and they were trying to give us some furniture that wasn’t ours. They have left behind most of the packing material, so we have to utilize it ourselves. I’ve emailed them letting them know about problems but no reply…

Are all moves like that? Or there is a good company out there?

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $17895

After explaining to them many times over the size of the move, they sent a truck which was too small, by 33%. The movers were contractors and not employees of S&H. They were friendly and packed everything well. At the end, when everything they could pack, a third of the move remained in the house. I called S&H and told them of the issue, but they would charge us full price for a whole other truck to take what they couldn't fit, which was their mistake in the first place, as they wouldn't listen to what I was telling them that needed to be packed. I had to rent a truck myself to load, pack and drive 2100 miles to our new home. This company ONLY ACCEPTS ZELLE as a payment, which was not made clear to us before we started the move with them. ZELLE is not a platform for business transactions, not does it provide any protections for services bought. Contact with this company during the move is nearly impossible. They eventually get back to you our you have to call many times in order to get someone to pick up. The owner will never talk to you, even when he's standing right never to the person on the phone to which your are speaking. Everything they packed was delivered, but the contacted drivers don't stick around long enough for you to inspect everything. Half of our dishes were broken, which cannot be replaced. Several things that seemed to be packed well were also broken. They use a contractor setup and they drop your shipment at warehouse to be contacted out to another group. The dropoff truck was a rolling nightmare, leaking almost three quarts of oil where it sat while they unpacked. Stay clear of this company.

SH aka S & A movers arrived to take manufacturing equipment from NY to CO to open up a second print shop location for our business. They instantly informed us that in order to move the entire list of equipment we provided to All Coast during booking, it would cost us an additional $6,000 on top of the $8,000 quote. They could not explain where the discrepancy occurred since the list did not change, and said we needed to contact our rep at All Coast.

Since this move is time sensitive, we chose to send as much equipment as we could for the original $8,000 price, about 35% of the original shipment list. We were told "someone" would contact us with an update once the equipment shipped, and that two of our employees could fly out to receive the shipment 12/6 - 7. We've reached out to All Coast and SH for an update via email, phone, and text throughout the last 10 days and each time we have been told we would get an update from management ASAP, yet we heard nothing. I have called their customer service phone number three separate times, each time chatting with a rep who could not give me an update, but assured me they would get it to someone who would call us back, and we were on track to receive the shipment in CO between 12/6 - 12/8.

We finally heard from a dispatcher on the day we sent employees to CO, but all he said was he could not give us a tracking update, but everything was on track and he would update us the next day. We never got a call that our shipment was out for delivery as promised, or got any tracking info. Sending employees to CO to get the shipment at the new building was a total waste, we were informed 3 days after flying back to NY that the shipment would arrive on a Sunday. In order to push it to Monday, we would be charged storage and redelivery fees.

Upon delivery, we were told only cash or venmo would be accepted, that way we cant refuse payment. Our equipment was dinged up, and these tactics manipulate people to react out of impulse and fear.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $10000

I was almost willing to forgive things like changing the price after the fact, and additional charges for switching vans, and a few broken items. I did receive my items within about two weeks which sounds better than others, but when I was calling to find out when they'd be arriving, I believe his name was Lucas. He was always good about answering the phone when they wanted me to book, but once I called to find out when the movers would be arriving he stopped answering my calls. As if they were done with me, I called many times within days and no response. Then the call went straight to voicemail as if he had blocked my number. Awful fake people

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

If I could give them a 0 I would. I know moving is expensive, but please go with a reputable company. Save yourself a headache and the worry of where your things are. Verify on BBB.org. The website is legit and you can see the complaints many customers have submitted. I used this company in 2021 to move and it was a terrible experience. They would not return my calls and ended up charging me $1000 more than estimated. They write reviews to help their ratings on many sites but do not trust them.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $3600

This company moved my dad's stuff from storage locker to my home. I was unable to be there when they picked up the unit. They engaged in theft beyond belief. Half of my dad's things were stolen. Boxes that stated things inside for example Mac Desk Computer, battery Ryobi tools, Dremel Sets, antique lamps. This company decided when they picked up the things they were stealing them because it was never put on the manifest. At delivery the driver was rude. When asked questions about things that were missing he would grunt an grumble. Then when done he tore the paperwork out of my hands an drive off. I never was able to write what was missing nor did I sign for complete delivery. Also they take everything in payment when getting your things but at delivery they ONLY except CASH. Worst company to deal with. Then I filled a claim spent four months finally the claims said yes an I am owed money. S an H has not paid an I will probably never see it. Stay Away from these clowns.
