Long-distance move from California to Missouri

DO NOT USE they will scam you.

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I am filing a complaint with the FMCSA and reaching out to an attorney who specializing in consumer protection. They quoted us $3,200 for a move. After contracting Rhino, I saw these reviews but they already had our deposit so I was hoping for the best. The movers who worked directly for Rhino showed up the day of the move and DEMANDED $10k to move our stuff. We had a flight planned and are closing escrow in 2 days so they knew we had little choice. We are renting a truck and are moving ourselves. A $7,000 difference is not a mistake and they are trying to keep our $1,000 deposit. I am going to have to fight to get that back. We gave them a full, accurate inventory of our entire house. They purposely and systematically quote low and then hold people hostage when they know people have planned for a move and have sold their home. I am just lucky we gave ourselves a few days in case something happened. We got lucky. If this was the day of close of escrow, we would be stuck. I am hoping to get with other people who got scammed by them to get together to see if we can take action as a group.

Long-distance move from Florida to Connecticut

Worst ever experience!!

Delivery man did not complete the job, unprofessional, threatening, and it was pure extortion. Left 33 pieces on ground floor (contract: attic delivery). The driver was ALONE, refused to drive into my street. He yells, threatens to leave, asks for more money. Charges me $200 to carry items with a hand trolley between truck and house: 300ft. He stacks all at the bottom of my staircase, blocking access to rooms, some in yard. At 10pm he yells that he needs to leave, claiming it illegal to work past 10pm! The next day, after reaching out to Sean who knew nothing, driver offers to come back for $150! I refused. This is a scam, extortion, and unprofessional behavior! I have complained. Michelle Weisblat responded that the driver was right, and I should read my contract. Currently filed complaint with BBB.

Official company response

Myrvet Fouquart came into an agreement to move her items from a storage unit in South Florida to Norwalk, Connecticut on August 2nd, 2013. On her contract between her and Rhino Moving, there is a clear section about what the customer is responsible for. One of those items is trailer access. While she claims that she received approval for an 18 wheeler to come down her street, the driver of the 18 wheeler that delivered her items has a trucking GPS which provides any truck restrictions, point being that her street came up restricted. Please be aware that no driver enjoys additional labor to take out a load and reload a truck or bring items from a far distance to get to a customer's home. Regardless, the fees are clearly stated that in the event that there is no access, fees will be applied. After confirming with an engineer from the City Of Norwalk, he explained that Rowayton Ave, a street to get to Ms. Fouquart's home has a height restriction. Bottom line, a driver of an 18 wheeler must make the final call of where he can park for the safety of the customer, himself and the truck. Unfortunately, Ms. Fouquart did not have the access that the driver was able to pull up to and had to charge her long haul fees. This $200 was for the long haul fee from his truck to her home, not extortion.
Due to the driver's helper being ill, he chose to make the delivery on his own. There is no where on the contract that states more than one person will deliver her items. The driver did the best that he could under the circumstances to deliver her items and told Myrvet, as well as the office that due to the time of day (he was allowed to work after 10pm), he would come back the following day with additional men to bring everything upstairs in which she refused. I am happy to provide texts that show our dispatcher trying to reach Ms. Fouquart the following day with the time that they will arrive to finish the job. Ms. Fouquart said that she was unavailable to have the men come back to finish the job. Therefore, due to the fact that she refused our services the following day to complete the job, we will not issue a $150 refund for her hiring people to bring the items upstairs.
In regards to the damaged bed frame, we have a standard procedure for claims in which as you see, Myrvet was referred to csipros.org in which she has still yet to log on to to begin the claims process. Rhino Moving is not able to file a claim for a customer.
Rhino Moving fulfilled the contractual obligations to Ms Fouquart and will assist her with her damage claim once she begins the process. Rhino Moving prides itself on customer service and long haul fees are not monies that are "extorted" from the customer. We look forward to resolving this issue with her.

Excellent Experience.

THe movers were great.  They showed up on time and went over  everything with me concerning the move.  They then started with indivudually wrapping each piece of furniture.  They were very careful with all of our fragile pieces.  Our master bedroom set (king size) with oversize dresser and chest were upstairs.  They were very careful and did NO damage at all.  The price for the move was very fair.  When the move was completed, there was no damage at all, and they went over everything with me.  I was given a quote of 5 hours, and that was exactly what it took.  I will be more than happy to recommend them for anyone looking for a professional company to help you with your move. When we got to the new house they checked with me on where I wanted the furniture placed, and then placed it where I asked for it to be placed.

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Beware.

It has been just about a year since we moved from Boynton Beach to Brooklyn, NY and I still haven't gotten over the horrific moving experience we had with Rhino movers and our sales woman, Michelle.  As we are packing up some of our things to return to Florida, I am reminded again of the rip off that we experienced with this company.  We were told that the big moving truck could not come into our neighborhood in NY and that they would have to put all of our things into another truck for delivery, but it would be their employees moving everything.  When the truck finally arrived to our home in Brooklyn, and they started taking out the boxes from the truck we were literally in shock, as to the condition of the boxes.  They were coming open, smashed in, and some of the contents were already rattling in the boxes as they unloaded.  We said something to the moving men, and they told us that this is how they found the boxes in the storage unit where they picked them up for delivery, that they were only contract employees, and they couldn't believe it themselves as to the condition of the boxes.  When we started unpacking we had so many things broken, it was not to be believed.  When I called Rhino, I was told that we were offered additional insurance for the contents, and that we declined.  We were never offered additional coverage, and we were covered at sixty cents a pound.   At that point I could have rung their necks.  Many heirlome pieces that belonged to my mother were destroyed and it seemed like if a box was marked fragile they took special care to throw that one the hardest and furthest that they could.  It actually looked like the moving van was in an accident and rolled over with our contents in the truck.  It has taken me a year to even talk about it, and when we move back to FL in May we are going to rent a Uhaul and take our things that are left ourselves. Not to mention that it cost to us doubled from  what we were quoted, when it was all said and done. IF YIU ARE IN YOUR RIGHT MIND NEVER USE THIS  COMPANY.  IF YOU DECIDE TO USE THEM, GOOD LUCK.  HOPE YOU ARE NOT SENDING ANYTHING OF VALUE THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP.  ALSO, MICHELLE IS VERY NICE SELLING THEIR SERVICES BUT IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, THEY GIVE YOU ANOTHER NUMBER TO CALL AND YOU CAN NOT GET BACK TO HER.  READ ANOTHER REVIEW THAY SAID SHE ISTHE OWNERS WIFE, I CAN BELIEVE THAT.   IF THERE WAS A RATING LESS THAT POOR I WOULD GIVE IT TO THEM.  THEY DON'T EVEN DESERVE THAT.  Michelle if you are reading this I wish the same for you ten fold with any service you hire.

Official company response

Miss Goldberg contracted with Rhino Moving on April 19th 2013, for her move from Boynton Beach to Brooklyn NY.
Miss Goldberg’s original estimate was $1,475.00. Miss Goldberg said that she forgot to add 8 boxes to her estimate, so our Foreman called the office to do the adjustment for her, the total adjustment was $155.00. And even that we gave her $75.00 off! Only the cost!! So the total move now will cost $1,550.00, not $3000.00. (find the attached Bill of Lading, the contract of Miss Goldberg Move with her balance due ).
Few days after Miss Goldberg move, she called our office and ask if she could bring 3 more boxes because they couldn’t fit in her car. Our manager said no problem! We will not charge you anything!
And there was no additional charge.
All of our contracts and emails we send to our customers have a “shuttle service” section. This section states that all deliveries outside of the State of Florida are made by a 53’ trailer.
We specifically have two contracts that explain about shuttle service, long carry and flights of stairs.
With many conversations between her sales representative, we asked Miss Goldberg if there is access for a 53’ trailer. Miss Goldberg assured us that she did! “I checked with city she said”. Our dispatcher called the city of Brooklyn to verify the access of a 53’ trailer, and the response was: “Absolutely not”!
Miss Goldberg’s street did not have access for a 53’ trailer. In addition, the truck that Rhino rented was a 24’ box truck that is very common for a local move, had a very hard time to enter the street.
A shuttle service fee is based on the size or weight of the goods. Miss Goldberg shuttle service charge was $500.00 based on 550 cubic feet she had for her move. The charge for a shuttle service is $1.00 per cubic feet, which meant her total charge should have been $550.00. Rhino Moving charged $500.00 giving a $50 discount.
I would like to take a moment and explain the meaning of a shuttle service. The service occurs when a semi trailer cannot fit in a residential street. Just like any other moving company, we understand that this charge feels like an inconvenience but for the driver, it is also a hassle.
The driver needs to take time to rent a small truck, unload the goods to the smaller truck and then drive to the customer to deliver the items. All this work is double the labor for the driver. There is no profit here for any moving company! It takes more labor hours and money to rent the truck. The total expense for this size of a move is no less than $500.00 which does not include the NY tolls.

Rhino Moving did not rip off Miss Goldberg like she says here. Miss Goldberg is saying we charged her $3000.00. Unfortunately for Miss Goldberg’s claim is absolutely false. Rhino has a contract signed by Miss Goldberg for the total move of $1,550.00 (please see attached), rhino also have another contract signed by Miss Goldberg that she is aware of the shuttle service. (Please see attached).

Rhino Moving did not pack Miss Goldberg’s boxes and cannot be responsible for any damages inside the boxes that she herself packed. Although we suggested for her to open a claim, she has yet to do so after a year has passed.
Last but not least, our staff at Rhino Moving loves what they do! Should any problems arise, we are sure to answer and handle issues in an expeditious manner.

Long-distance move from New York to Oregon

Rhino moving did not honor initial agreement.

Awful experience with rhino moving inc! This company is extremely unprofessional! I had an initial agreement to have my goods moved for a cost of 2.485.00  a small 1 bedroom apt from NY to Oregon. According to the sales person Shaun, this price would not change. They have overcharged me $ 700,00 and held my things hostage for almost 1 month. They were extremely rude over the phone (after they had my goods) and have damaged many items. Picture frame, glasses, my sofa, and mattress.  They were late a couple of days to pick up my goods and many weeks to deliver. When I was told they would overcharge me ( after all my goods were already inside the truck ) I  tried to reach out to Shaun who did not answer my calls on that day. After complaining and waiting hours for a resolution they promised me an express delivery to overcome the stress. I had no other option since I had to make the flight on the next day. They held my things for 23 days on purpose. According to the driver, he had my goods for days in Oregon but was waiting for an approval from the company to deliver. During this waiting time, Shaun kept telling me several times they would solve the problem by the time of delivering that I should not worry. On the day of delivering they required the remaining payment over $ 700 before unloading my goods. Again I tried to reach out to a rhino that again refused to answer my calls. This whole experience was a nightmare! I have reported them to BBB and I am still waiting for a decent resolution. I would not recommend this company to anyone!

Rhino Moving.

This is the worst moving Company!
The salesman quoted me 2 trucks and 6 men. Only 1 truck and 4 men showed up. All the furniture would not fit on 1 truck so they called for the second truck. When it got there (late), it was already 75% full with another customer's furniture. They tried to fit the rest of my things on this truck and it wouldn't fit. They sent a third truck the next day (4 hours late), and got the remaining furniture.
Upon delivery(4 hours late) their drivers ran over my landscape lights and sprinklers, threw the broken parts in the hedges, and then denied it. They refuse to pay for the property damage even though I provided pictures, repair estimates, and an affidavit that I witnessed the damage. They simply lie so they won't get fired.
This is not a professional company. They use part-time laborers that have no experience in moving furniture. They do not handle the cargo with care. I don't think they can read the labels because most couldn't speak English.
Don"t make the same mistake I did. Use another company even if it costs more. It will be cheaper in the long run. This company does not live up to their responsibilities.

Long-distance move from Florida to Tennessee

Excellent Experience!

On behalf of my son and myself, we just wanted to say that Rhino Moving did a PHENOMENAL job of moving him from Florida to Tennessee!  Howard, the Senior Consultant, was awesome from our very first internet and subsequent telephone correspondence.  On pick-up day, the team arrived on time and got loaded up very quickly, efficiently and packed/wrapped/supported ALL the items over and above what we were expecting.  They arrived 700 miles in only 2.5 days.  On delivery, the team was extremely professional, caring and efficient as well as personable. They arrived early, got to work promptly and had the move completed in no time.  We were utterly amazed at how perfect everything went!  And not one thing -- nothing -- was broken, chipped or missing!  If our son moves back to Florida in a couple years after finishing school (hopefully!), we will definitely be calling Rhino Moving again!

Long-distance move from Florida to Utah

Bad Mover.

Rhino Moving is the WORST moving company. I had them pick up the items to be moved on June 27, 2014 in Ft. Lauderdale and was told that the items would be delivered to Utah in 7-14 days. The delivery was finally made on August 5th 2014. We received other peoples items and many of our items were either lost or stolen. The driver (Dexter 352.274.5009) called on August 4th to notify us of the delivery but said that we would have to pay them an additional $300 otherwise he would not be able to deliver the items. EXTORTION. Dexter worked for a trucking company that RHINO contracts with so either he was scamming us or RHINO was. Regardless Rhino is responsible for this. We refused to pay the extra money and maybe that is why we had our items stolen and got others peoples items. I will also contact the Florida state attorney general to complain about this. Rhino Moving should not be allowed to do business ANYWHERE.

Long-distance move from Washington DC to Florida

Criminal Movers.

Beware of using these thieves and criminals. I used them for a long distance move from Washington DC to Fort Lauderdale and had them hold my belongings for almost three months while I was in transition to permanent housing.  Pickup and drop off times were as scheduled. They clearly you day laborers because the workers arrive dirty and dissheveled. One pretty much looked homeless. At delievery, I was missing several large items and several items arrived damaged. They delievered someone else's bed and a couple other items that didn't belong to me.  Mike in Sales on the phone is a nasty liar who doesn't return calls or want anything more to do with you after they have your money. The warehouse manager is just another paid liar as well promising he will find your stuff and get back to you - never once a returned phone call. They screen their calls from a caller ID so if you have a problem you will only get a voice mail unless you call from a different number.  I finally had to file a complaint with the BBB which is essentially useless. They bold face lied to them as well stating the missing items were never on the inventory list which they clearly are and then further said I hand wrote them on myself. Thieves, scammers, and liars. Avoid these people at all costs. They should be in jail.

Long-distance move from Florida to Utah

Moving.

Rhino lied to us and did not deliver several heirloom articles. Thay told us that they used there own trucks. Not true. They were prompt to pick up, late to deliver some items but distictive items the size of a refridgerator were stolen. The delivery driver said he recalled the distintive chest "on the truck"in Denver and would bring it next trip. Lie. If you read the fine print there is a "shuttle" clause for delivering to areas where large trucks cannot drive. Duh, that's most places and they count on it. So, they hold your stuff hostage until you pony up another$600. Then to add insutlt to injury, the delivery was incomplete. Four months of broken promises now. .
