Long-distance move from Miami, FL to Washington, DC

Wonderful Movers.

They were so wonderful. They were very professional. I had multiple conversations with the owners and they were so polite and so helpful. They did a great job. They went above and beyond what I was expected. Movers understand that moving is emotional and they helped calm me down when I was upset. They were very supportive. They completed the entire job in about 3 hours and the total cost was good. This was our second experience with Moving Company and have been exceedingly pleased each time with both their performance and price. We don't really want to move again any time soon, but if we do we know who to call!

Long-distance move from South Carolina to Florida

Worst Company ever.

Do NOT Ever use this poor excuse for a company to move your belongings. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional group of amateurs in my life and I'm talking specifically about Billy Burgess the little manager. What an absolute foul mouth punk tough guy on the phone. Im sure this little snow flake isn't so tough when he talks face to face to customers as he is hidden away in his little office. The actual movers try every scam in the book to soak cash from you, threatening to take off with your stuff and or not unloading unless you give them another $800. They damage walls and furniture, are weeks late and do not answer or respond to phone calls. I recommend using any other company besides this unprofessional operation.

Long-distance move from Browns Mills, NJ to Holland, MI

Do not hire then they will scam you.

They have been listed on the NJ news for companies who are being fined for not having a NJ license . They try to get more money out of you when they come to out to your place on moving day. Do not give them any payment in cash or you will have no proof of any payment to them . I refused to pay extra and they left me stranded with all my household goods .I know have to move myself from NJ to MI . Do notion t trust them their website is a scam they don't own their moving trucks and they use day laborers! That is why they only want to come on weekends to move your things! Do your research don't make the same mistakes some of us made or you will end up using your down payment and or your household goods . I can only warn anyone who reads their reviews not to fall for their intimidation tactics . I made the mistake of not having a male at my house and they told me the price would be double of what we agreed on and when I refused they said if I would pay $800.00 in cash they would move my things . When I told them no that was not what we agreed on they refused to let me speak to the manager . When they finally got someone to call me he told me to go F..myself! I reported them to the BBB ,the news and I will join any lawsuit against this company . Do not give them any cash as I was assured that this is not how a legit moving company does their business . Don't give them any money orders either as you won't be able to get that money back from them. If you paid a down payment via credit card inform your credit card company ASAP to get your money back . I will repeat one more time do not give them any CASH no matter what they say!! Help stop this company of scamming anyone else out of their money!

Long-distance move from San Marcos, CA to Spanish Fort, AL

A joke of a company!!

Old country van lines picked up our things on July 19. We were promised a delivery date on July 26 or very close to that day. We did not receive our items until August 24. Half of our items were damaged, broken, dirty, or missing. Moving companies are legally protected in many ways, but we will be filing in small claims court and hopefully sticking it to them!! It has been a nightmare! We have had thousands of dollars in damages and my cancer medication was ruined by them putting it in storage in California for over five weeks. SO MANY LIES!! *BEWARE of the five star reviews, they are company employees or family members. The real reviews are all one star. This company is horrible and should not be in business. Speak out if anything has happened to you with this company and let’s make them pay!!

Long-distance move from Greenville, SC to Eastport, ME

Moving from South Carolina to Maine.

I was
Lied to from day one. Steve Elliott said no problems, use us, we are the best. When packing we were charge over $300.00 extra for supplies. They boxed up wrought iron andirons in a huge box. Then I was told that it would take about 4 days, that was until they told me the stuff would go to storage for up to 18 days. On day 17 the pieces of furniture were delivered! A leg on a chair was broken by them, they repaired it with gorilla glue, sheet rock screw and the put packaging tape over it. Another chair hadj the leg broken on the inside. Two tables
Also had legs broken on them. None of this was mentioned to me. They had no inventory sheet, half of the inventory stickers were missing. I was told it was the same truck
The furniture was picked up in, I had a picture.. they lied, lamp shade that they boxed was crushed, large statue broken, all furniture was nicked or broken somewhere. Insurance for cost of replacement was the cost if the move ie over $3000.00 so I didn’t take it. I was give $350.00 tofix what was broken. That would not cover one chair. This company is a
Joke, please do not use them if you want your belonging in one piece.

Long-distance move from Tomball, TX to Denver, CO

Zero stars - they lost 1/3 of my stuff.

Do NOT use this company! Moved from TX to CO. They charged me more than agreed upon, lost 1/3 of my stuff, would not return my calls, the claims dept is a joke, they won’t pay replacement costs. Broken items, lied to. The driver hires guys from Craigslist to pick up and deliver with them - completely unsafe. I moved a month ago and still haven’t gotten all of my belongings .. still dealing with this company. Horrible customer service - the quality assurance dept doesn’t know anything and can’t even get ahold of dispatch themselves. Don’t be fooled by the slick sales guy. If you want a stress free move, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Long-distance move from California to North Carolina

Total crooks.

This company is also known as All State Moving Service. Turns out these guys lost their license between the time we made contact with them and the time we made the move - a little detail they failed to share with us. When our possessions finally arrived 3 weeks late - on a Sunday, the driver told us they would not take a cashiers check payable to the company that we had prepared prior to their arrival - only cash. They refused to take our stuff off the truck without cash - a direction they received directly from the company during a phone call at our house. And, if we don't find $1700 cash on a Sunday, they will drive away and add $600 cash to the price every time they come back. There are only a couple of reasons that a company would refuse a certified check made payable to them. Add your own inference here. Because the delivery did not arrive on the date promised, we kept calling the company about our belongings. They refused to tell us where they were and finally just ignored our calls. The driver that finally showed up told us that he is a contractor, not employed by the company, because the company is not licensed to transport anything interstate!! They also refused to weigh our possessions and provide us with the information - a DOT requirement. The price they charged us was greatly inflated from the quote despite the fact we reduced the items we were shipping. All the while they refused to tell us where our items were. Turns out they picked them up and just dumped them in a warehouse in Sacramento which had no climate control. That alone cased irreparable warping to many wooden items. If you have anything of value and no desire to waste your money, spring for the seemingly more expensive, certified movers because it will cost you more in the end to use these guys.

Long-distance move from Clovis, CA to Barboursville, VA

Easy to work with.

Began my saga having never used a mover. The salesperson seemed direct with me and quoted an excellent price per cf. I called other movers to verify and ended up sticking with Old Country.
They showed up on time and were very efficient with wrapping up my furniture in moving blankets. Based on other reviews (this company and other companies), I was a little nervous that they would challenge me and claim that I had more cf therefore I need to pay more on the spot, but nothing like that happened.
I had them store it for a month in CA before giving them an address in VA. Later, I got a call from customer service that they wanted to get my stuff on the next truck. Gave them the address and it arrived only 6 days later. The driver was responsive to texts and alerted me with timing. I just had them unload to mini-storage. They came on a Sunday. I was going to try to have it come Monday but said that would be $650 more.
My experience: Good sales guys and be flexible with your schedule, especially with drop off. Discuss any and every need you have up front because once the process is started, they aren't as flexible. They'll treat you right.

Long-distance move from Groton, MA to Ballwin, MO

Worst ever, sooo much damage.

I hired them in good faith, they bumped the price twice, demanded cash only before unloading. When they unloaded I understood why, crushed boxes, damaged and broken furniture, missing mirror for bedroom set, dresser had gouge in top, cherry table gouged, coffee table corner gone, pieces missing. When I asked for driver to note damage he said not his problem, when I insisted he tore up invoice. Would not unload truck until cash was in hand .and my wife signed.. all before unloading. They are crooked and the number to file a claim is disconnected, Anthony did not return numerous phone calls and emails. Hence the one star, it should be zero. Do not believe reviews you see, they can’t possibly accurate.

Long-distance move from San Jose, CA to Billings, MT

Avoid Old Country Van Lines at all costs.

My experience with this "company" was horrendous from beginning to end. This isn't an actual company; it's a phone line to a residential house in New Jersey. The same phone number can be traced to several other moving companies that have gone out of business. They claim to be accredited by the BBB but that is not accurate. The people who load, drive and unload are not employed or vetted by Old Country Van Lines. They are sub contractors who work for cash only. I had to learn all of this information the hard way and hope to save others from this predatory, dishonest and unprofessional individuals.
3/4-Movers scheduled to pick up at my house in CA. They are two hours late. The paperwork they show up with has different units of measure, different charge amounts than the binding estimate and they tried to upcharge me $200 for a "long carry" because they parked across the street. I got out my tape measure and had to prove to them it was less than 65 feet.
3/5, 3/6 and 3/7-Emailed and called the "moving consultant" identified on my estimate about the contract and measurement discrepancies for which I was owed a $256 credit. No return call or email.
3/9-Dispatch person calls and says my items will be delivered 3/12 or 3/13 and that the driver would call me 24 hours in advance with a time window.
3/12-Hear nothing so I call and leave a message with "Dispatch"
3/13-Dispatch calls me back and says driver has been trying to reach me..wrong. She says they will be there late afternoon on 3/13. Driver finally calls me and says they are 6 hours away but will be there around 4 pm. I call him at 4:30 and he tells me he hasn't left North Dakota but that he will arrive the next morning between 8 and 10 am. I have left work early on 3/13 and now will need to miss more work the following morning.
3/14-I sit at my new empty house from 8-11:30 am with no delivery, no phone calls and no emails. I called and left messages and emails with the driver, Old Country, Dispatch and Sales. None of my messages are returned.
Finally at 3 pm a person from Illinois who I have never dealt with calls me and says that the driver is stuck in South Dakota due to either a broken truck or inclement weather but they will be at my house between 5 and 9 pm the next night. The driver told me North Dakota and in looking at the weather map, nothing but sunshine and rainbows in all of the Dakotas.
3/15-Dispatch person calls in the morning to tell me that the drivers attempted delivery but couldn't complete it because I tried to pay in Canadian money..was I being punked? Wrong again. Then she said that the drivers are on their way from Idaho and will reach me later that night. Keep in mind that I am in MT. These folks must be using a map from 1860 or prior to the Louisiana Purchase being made.
I called the driver directly and he actually picked up only because I blocked my phone number. He said they were still in either North or South Dakota and were scheduled to get into my town at midnight. I'm a single mother and my youngest is a toddler so that didn't really work for me.
3/16-Miracle upon miracles they actually arrive at 8:30 in the morning; but I was so relieved that I didn't mind having to miss yet another day of work.
Piece of advice-pay the slightly higher amount to reputable nation wide movers such as North American, Bekins or Mayflower. The few dollars are well worth it to avoid these shysters. I would say they need to be put out of business but I'm sure they will be soon and then will just start a new one with a different name ; but same dirty playbook.
