Long-distance move from Salem, OR to Dallas, GA

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

NW Relocation picked up my belongings from a storage unit in Salem, OR on 2/9/21. The foreman of the crew who picked up my belongings had me fill out a credit card form to pay 1/2 of my balance, and after I filled it out, he said he could not get anyone in the office to take his call to run the card. He assured me that he would call them again, and that once they ran my card I would get an emailed receipt from them. I left Oregon for myself several days later to drive across the country to Georgia, and by the time I arrived in GA, my card had still not been run. Emails and calls to the company went unanswered. I finally called the moving broker I had used, and asked them what I needed to do. The broker was able to make contact with the moving company, and Zoey from NW Relocation informed me that my payment had been declined, and there was a "note on my account" that I would need to call my bank to have the error fixed. I was dumbfounded that a company would take my things, claim that my card was declined, and never once call me to rectify the payment issue for THREE WHOLE WEEKS. I hung up with Zoey, and called my bank to figure out what had gone wrong, as there was more than enough in my account to cover the balance owing. My bank informed me that the transaction HAD been approved by them, but something in the vendor's processing side had pulled the transaction back. So I called Zoey again, told her everything the bank had told me, and asked her to run my card again. She said that the lady who normally runs the payments wasn't in the office, but that they would run my card as soon as she came in, and I would get an emailed receipt. 5 days later, and they STILL had not run my card. I called the broker again, and said I needed them to step in to get this issue fixed. Not only was NW Relocation not running my payment, but they also just had my things in storage and hadn't even assigned a driver to my belongings because of the non-payment. I was livid. The broker was finally able to get them to run my card. Then I had to go through 2 weeks of them "not being able to find a driver" for my route, and my belongings did not leave Oregon until 3/19/21, a full 5.5 weeks after I had left Oregon. NW Relocation assured me, in writing, that my belongings would be delivered the end of my delivery window on 3/26/21. I, again, had to have my broker step in to get those updates for me, because NW Relocation stopped answering my calls, and my emailed requests for updates were met with unprofessional, vague, and snarky, replies. One reply to my broker, that I was copied on, said (and I quote) "...our office is small and we are not able to catch each call as it comes in." They either need to expand their staff, or invest in better training, so that calls can be answered in a more timely manner. My belongings FINALLY arrived 5 days late (on 4/1/21), and the truck driver forced me to pay an extra $75 for a "long carry" because he said he could not get his truck into my driveway. The driveway is 125ft long, and the truck (plus his cab) was 72ft long. There was more than enough room for the truck. I insisted that he can back into the driveway, and he said (quite rudely, I will add) he would be willing to just unload my stuff into the end of the driveway if I don't want to pay the $75. That was absolutely not an option. I saw no other option at the time to get my belongings off his truck and where they needed to be, so I had to pay the extra $75. From beginning to end it was a nightmare to work with NW Relocation.

Long-distance move from Pasco, WA to Longview, TX

Nightmare experience the whole way through.

Northwest Relocation is the worst experience I have ever had with a moving company. We moved across the country for a new job. Before the first deposit was given the customer service was good. They promised to be a good company to use for the move and pack our fragile items for use (which we paid for and was in the contract).

After they had our deposit, I could not get a hold of them more often than not, and when I did they were exceptionally rude. They did not pack the fragile items (TV's) in TV boxes, they through blankets over them and called it good. This cavalier attitude toward their job continued throughout the packing process. In the end, the items we packed ourselves arrived ok, but all the items the "professionals" packed were broken.

We were remodeling a house and needed our household items stored for a short time (a few weeks). We communicated this clearly to the moving company and they agreed to store our items for a fee. We agreed to pay the fee for the delivery delay. The next we heard from them was that our items were loaded and in route. They placed them on the truck before we requested and we were not ready for them. I called and got a "it's your problem now" response from the owner of the company! We were right in the middle of a remodel when the household goods arrived after we had paid to have them stored for a few weeks!

When the household items arrived, every box was upside down. The labeled fragile boxes were under the boxes labeled heavy. All the TV's were broken and one just missing, the drill press was broke, as was the entertainment center, refrigerator, upright freezer, both front loaders (washer and dryer), book shelves, one of the file cabinets (both were also upside down), our hand-made headboard, etc. The shipping boxes were split open and plastic tubs were crushed (Christmas ornaments). I don't mean one or two either, every box and tub was either split open or crushed as it came out of the truck at delivery.

We figured the claims department would handle the broken items and pay for them as a good honest business (that wants good customer relations) should. Repair, replace, or fairly compensate for the damaged items. We received the claim back today August 14, 2021. Our move was February 10, 2021. Six long months later during which time we had to keep all the broken items and material for the claims department adjuster to look at and verify per contract. They never came to look at the stuff in 6 months, neither did they call to ask questions or more information. We followed the claims instructions to the letter to get just compensation. Most of the broken items were denied by their claims department even though all the items were listed as damaged on the manifest except for the items we found damaged in the crushed boxes opened later. Of all the damage done to our household items, they agreed to pay $405 to compensate us for their negligence and our hassle and heartache for the past 6 months. They considered this fair and adequate compensation for 3 broken large flat-screen TV's, one missing (stolen?) large flat-screen TV, a custom made king sized headboard, a front loader washing machine, a front loader clothes dryer, a destroyed entertainment center, a broken drill press (shows how hard they actually were on our stuff), a broken kitchen refrigerator, a broken upright freezer, a broken bookshelf, a broken file cabinet, several broken antique frames and ornaments, and many other smaller household items.

If you chose to use this company after reading this review and ones that are like it, that is your choice. Be warned, you are inviting a group of hyperactive guys with hammers and bad tempers into your home. This is how we feel, that we were robbed and vandalized then told to be grateful for it and pay many thousands of dollars for the experience. We will never be using this company again.

Long-distance move from Salem, OR to Memphis, TN

Horrible/Nightmare Experience

NW Relocation is the worst moving I have ever dealt with period. Came to recost my delivery and couldn't take all of my boxes because of different sizes of boxes. I was promised 40 boxes and they took 20 boxes, and I told them to take my file cabinet (which they never did), this had all my financial / Identity information, which was left at my previous home. It is a very horrible experience, 2 months later, when their not answering their phones. This is a cost of living move and I'm on a fixed income and they demanded a sizable tip OR some of my items will not make it to my new home. And Finally, they acted like children stating that they were "Tired and Exhausted and wanted to go home," & "If you didn't get your Sh*t together They were going to leave me stranded and not return"

Long-distance move from Toledo, OR to Albion, OK

49 days without property

Why does my property still remain in Oregon after 49 days?

Why have I had to put out money for a bed and other items because of what Heidi in customer services calls a miscommunication?

Why do you feel it’s ok to treat people this way?

Why does the BBB give you an F ?

Why have you done the same thing to other people?

Why when I told you customer service person I had damaged property she tells me to wait until I had all my shipment before I file claim?

Am I to expect more damage and lost items?

Why have I been told over and over my shipment is loading and you will contact me?

Why do I find out the truck your customer service people said was to load my shipment wasn’t even coming to my area?

Why can United Moving company not get updates?

Why do you have a phone number no one answers?

Why?

Of course they wanted double what was quoted to me, and still expect even more upon delivery, should it actually be delivered.

Long-distance move from Portland, OR to Wheeling, IL

Moving to IL

Hello,

I paid to have NW Relocation to move my furniture from Portland. OR to Wheeling, IL. I guess the moving insurance that has to be purchased when you move was not clear to me. I guess the movers probable hope you don't buy the additional insurance so they don't have to worry about property damage. When my furniture was moved it arrived in the middle of a semi-trailer in a large pile of my personal belongings. I don't know how many times my stuff was moved into different trucks in the moving process, but I do know that it sure was not handled with care. Both of my television set screens were damaged. It does not take much to damage flat screen TV pictures. I am offered $72 for the damage. It will cost me more than that to properly dispose of the damaged sets. I could have just let my neighbors have them for free instead of paying someone to give me nothing in return. They give me a quote for my move and that ended up being about $1800 less than the cost, my fault for having more stuff than I thought, but I might have shopped more if I knew the final price.

NW MOVERS R WORSE THAN HORRIBLE!

They destroyed my life under one of their previous names as they keep changing it. Scouts Moving. I wish all of us could have a class action suit. My family heirlooms are gone along with 33 boxes, kayak, rolling mechanics tool box, and, refused to bring in my antique player piano but put it in the garage on its side! Ruined. Yelp took down my post because someone complained. Gee wonder why? Insurance ? A joke! Offered $1,000 on a $250,000 claim! Never acknowledged the other claim if ripping 12 ft rip in my new carpet. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. I BELIEVE THEY MAKE MONEY ON ALL MISSING ITEMS OR THINGS TAKEN OUT OF THE OPEN BOXES THEY DELIVER!!!!

DoNOT use this company!

I am convinced this company stole and sold some of my belongings including a $600+ bike rack, handmade table and lamp shade. I am a careful packer, labeled all my boxes, and even video-ed boxes and belongings going into the truck and STILL was denied all but $93 of an over $1500 claim submitted with all the proper documentation (an ordeal in and of itself!). May items that were carefully packed were broken when they arrived and since they were "packed by owner" not eligible for reimbursement!! READ the FINE PRINT...and absolutely do NOT be fooled by an initial estimate.Yourcost will be higher, and you have very little recourse at recouping what you will most assuredly lose if you use NW Relocation. I am so sickened by the business model of this company!

Terrible experience - do not use.

Not sure of final price, as currently belongings are being held hostage. Customer service has been nil. Overall experience has been terrible.  Company has proven to be dishonest, and unresponsive. Do not know when/if we will get our belongings back, or in what condition.  Recommendation: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY  .
