Northern Moving Systems

Having been an off-base military kid, moving is a natural part of life, but it has always been worrisome… until now. Northern Moving Systems completely alleviated my stress when it came to my most recent move. They provide full service, so I did not have to pack a thing. I did have to answer some questions here and there, but, that is no problem at all. Northern Moving Systems makes the stress of moving fade away. My stuff was delivered, on-time, without any issues. I could move 20 more times and never blink an eye. Thank you, Northern Moving Systems.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6800

After finishing my college years in New York, it was time for me to move back to Texas along with the furniture and items I had accumulated over the years in my apartment. Luckily, Northern Moving Systems was able to make this task affordable and efficient. After calling for a quote, I scheduled a date and time with the movers to load up all my supplies. Upon arrival, the moving staff was absolutely friendly and easy to instruct. Within a couple of hours, all my belongings were loaded onto the truck and ready for transport. This moving service has my utmost respect and was absolutely professional and provided the best service I could ask for. As if that wasn't enough, all my belongings arrived back at Texas in perfect condition. Will definitely be using Northern Moving Systems again in the future!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3000

They are not a real moving company, they are just a broker. Even worse, the actual moving company they hired would not honor my contract with Northern Moving Systems and held my furniture hostage until I paid for packing and storage fees that were part of my base contract amount. When I brought this to the attention of Northern Moving Systems by phone and writing, they have avoided my calls and ignored my correspondence. Unless you want to deal with a company that will actively duck you if there is a problem, you should find a real moving company.

Northern moving systems is a SCAM. I tried to hire them to move cross country. They never sent someone to survey my items- they guessed the weight- they left items off of every single quote- then four days before my move I had yet to receive an accurate quote with all my items. I called customer service and was hung up on. I canceled with them and they said they would refund my deposit and to simply dispute the charge with AMEX. I did and Northern FORGED A CONTRACT I NEVER SIGNED TO KEEP THE DEPOSIT I SENT!! SCAM!! RUN!! Currently suing them.

I had the worst experience using Northern Moving Systems. It appears to have been the classic bait and switch and switch and switch routine.

I called Mike Cohen with Northern Moving, on July 31st requesting a move for August 26th. I told them I wanted the full service move with packing included and went through how many rooms I had and all of the large objects in my house. They quoted a price of $4500 for 767 cubic feet. I was told the contract would only make me pay for what was moved. It was a great price I accepted and paid the deposit.

On August 17th a week before the move, Wesley a "Quality Assurance" agent called to go over everything to make sure everything was right. They noticed that they never allocated space for the stuff I was paying them to box and pack up. The new price would be $7090 for 1080 cubic feet. Again I was assured I would only have to pay for what was moved.

However, this was still a serious error to me. Despite much complaining I get zero apology and it's too late now to find a mover at a decent price. This is the bait and switch routine. But I had to accept the new contract and paid more deposit.

On August 26th the day the move was scheduled to happen, Christian another "Quality Assurance" agent called again to go over everything again. This time he noticed that I didn't have boxes for the kitchen dishes quoted. They recommended increasing to 1500 cubic feet and delaying the move to august 31st and giving more deposit. They reiterated that I would only pay for the actual cubic foot that was moved, but at this point I couldn't take any more delays so I told them I would throw away everything over the original 1080 cubic feet. They cancelled the updated contract.

When the movers arrived two days late, their shipping contractor "Best Price Movers" tricked me into signing a different contract for 1500 cubic feet. I was under the impression the price would be revised later to the actual move size. I moved 1080 Cubic Feet and threw away everything above that. It wasn't until they dropped off the stuff that they told me I had to pay for the full 1500 cubic feet. which was an extra $2400 plus throwing away items I never had to. The contract they had me sign nullified all previous contracts and I was forced to pay to ship an extra 38% of empty air in the truck.

The rest of the move involved the two companies Best Price, and Northern Moving Systems, blaming each other over who screwed me over, but even if Northern Moving was unaware of "Best Price Movers" unethical contract. They are responsible for the movers they hire, and still screwed up and/or bait and switched the estimates.

Signs of a scam are not to use a moving broker

And don't trust anyone who doesn't come to your house to estimate the move.

I also read that using cubic feet as an estimate was a bad sign.
