Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

Horrible Service

I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER refer this company to anyone. They sub contracted the job to a company called ABC movers and when they got there he literally tried to charge me double from the quote I originally got. Not only that he was rude to me kept trying to lower the price saying he will give me a good discount. They tell you one price and when they get there it's another. They also told me it was going to be delivered between 7 and 10 days. And it got there 19 days later. So we had to buy air mattresses and clothes (we have 3 kids) so we had to spend even more money. DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR BUSINESS YOU WILL HAVE A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Do not hire this company. Seriously

Do not hire this company. They are the epitome of bait and switch. They will give you a lowball estimate and then, at the last possible minute the real price will blow you away. The driver that showed up at my house the morning of the move said that (I’m quoting him) “99.7% of the time the price is more, much much more”. That’s a quote. My quote was originally for $9065. Then 5 days before the move, they went over everything with me and the price was now a bit over $15,000. (This is a full pack and unpack, long distance). I wasn’t pleased that the price went up but at least I felt like the damage had been done and now

I got the “real” price. When the movers got here yesterday they scoped out the place and called the office, nonchalantly, and the office quoted the price for the job. Remember, this is moving day. Unlike most of you, I have some flexibility and allowed myself some extra time to get acclimated to my new city. After waiting over an hour and figuring that they were going to try and squeeze me for an additional $5000, they came to me with the real price of just under $40,000! More than 4x the original quote and more than triple the agreed upon “final” price. They figure that they have you by the short hairs on moving day and you have no choice. I called another mover and they are here on very short notice for much less money. I can’t say anything that is negative enough about Nationwide. Don’t hire them. If you do, you will regret it

Move from TX to WA

Avoid this company! I was charged an "extra" fee for some un-named service and it was not credited to my final bill. I guess this $2465.72 dropped through the Nationwide black hole! I've tried to communicate with someone in management about this, but I keep getting the same run-around. It took a month to get my furniture delivered to the new address. This company doesn't even deserve 1 star! Another Nationwide bait and switch!

Long-distance move from Joseph, OR to Farmville, NC

Cross country move

Getting the original quote went well. Follow up questions were answered after several calls/emails. Was told by the main office that my move would take between 7-10 days. They forgot to tell me that would be after it sat in a warehouse for over three weeks. My move was from Oregon to North Carolina. My belongings were picked up on the date arranged (May 27)and the two guys that picked up were pleasant and did the job. This is when I found out the company didn't have to deliver for 30 days. I was told during original call that I could use a credit card and then later was told I could use Venmo. These movers would take neither. I had to make a last minute trip to a bank for a certified check which I could not get because I didn't have a bank account there. My daughter had to bail me out of this. These movers informed me they had two weeks to get it to NC. I had clothes, etc packed for a vacation I was leaving on July 24, so felt this would be ok but was hoping it would have been there by June 10. They also told me my belongings were going to a warehouse in LA. This driver gave me the phone number to this warehouse, who was supposed to call me within a few days to let me know when my stuff would move. After a week, I called and they just said they would contact me when it left but couldn't give me a time. Another week passed and I had to face the fact I wasn't gonna get my belongings in time for my vacation. I did not receive my belongings until July 7th. So the 10 days I thought I had booked became 40!!! This became a very stressful move. I believe the Nationwide main office was misleading, uncaring and nonresponsive to a fault and the companies they hire to actually move don't really care what you are told by Nationwide or when you get your stuff. My stress level was thru the roof during the time when I didn't really know where my personal belongings were or when I would see them again. The good part is that I did receive everything I packed and with no damage or items missing.

BEWARE BROKERS WITHOUT MOVING TRUCKS!

Do not use! They are a BROKER! Even If you give them every single item in your home (which we did), their quote and estimate WILL NOT be accurate. The moving company that they select for you will charge you more. They under estimated our move by HALF! They ask you when you want to move, but do not verbally tell you that it is highly advised to select a moving date TWO WEEKS before you actually move : "Note, that re-dispatching takes several days; this is why we strongly urge you to select a pick-up date which leaves you at least a two week cushion before you must vacate your home. This way if you need to have an alternate carrier dispatched you will have several weeks to reschedule a new pick-up date with an alternate carrier. Last minute pick-up dates are highly discouraged for this reason; please plan for all scheduling contingencies and do not schedule your pick-up date on a date right before you need to vacate your home." So this company that wants to be a convenience to their customers #1. NEVER discloses the name of the local long distance motor carrier that they choose for your move to YOU! #2. Makes you "interview" the carrier by selecting a date two weeks ahead of time in case (obviously in ALL cases) the carrier bills you for more! We blindly trusted. And got screwed to tune of $12,000 over the estimated quote. We provided a VERY detailed list. When the moving company showed up on the day prior to us having to vacate and refusing to load a thing until we signed an updated contract with them, that's when we knew we were screwed! We found the fine print on Nationwide's contract the next day. The above quoted disclosure fell conveniently in the middle of their contract. We didn't know that they were Brokers and washed their hands of our move the moment the actual movers showed up. Please tell me who would plan to move two weeks in advance so that a refusal can be made?

Long-distance move from Seattle, WA to Chattanooga, TN

Overall Terrible Experience

I'll start with the good parts:

- Our stuff was picked up on the day we agreed on.

- We eventually received most of our stuff at our destination.

So if you don't care about when you get your stuff, clear communication, or paying extra at pick up time, this is the company for you.

Now the bad:

I'm not even sure where to start here. Every single interaction I had with Nationwide as well as the other moving company they hired was beyond poor. I'll just start from the beginning:

- On the phone, if you ask about any of the bad reviews on this website or any other, they will tell you that other less reputable companies have started using their name because of their "good reputation". Don't believe them. Everything I read on here 100% lined up with our entire experience.

- Their initial estimate & quote will intentionally be low to get you to commit. We only packed the things we agreed on (with less boxes than the quote) and were still charged $1000 more at pick up (more on that later).

- We never heard anything from the moving company they hired, until 20 minutes before pick up. We were told the moving company would call at least a day before to confirm the pick up day & time, since we had to provide a date range. This, of course, never happened, despite calling Nationwide in an attempt to get them to contact the moving company. They simply said there was nothing they could do if the moving company wouldn't pick up. This will be a theme for the entire move. We finally received a call from the moving company at 4:00 PM that they would be there in 20 minutes.

- The moving company tried to make us pay $200 extra dollars because we had 1 flight of stairs in our home, even though the Nationwide contract says that 1 flight of stairs is included. He eventually agreed to do it without the extra fee, but wasn't happy about it.

- When everything was loaded, we were told that we owed $1000 more because it filled up more space than what was in the original agreement. I don't fault the moving company for this, but Nationwide's lowball size estimate. We only had the items we agreed on, and we also had less boxes than the original quote. We had no choice but to pay this, but honestly we were expecting it based on all of the other reviews we read here.

- A week after our pickup, I called Nationwide just to see if there was a general estimate on when the delivery would be. They said they can't find out that information, and just gave me a number for the moving company. Of course no one ever answered that number, no matter how many times I tried calling it over the course of a week. Whenever I would talk to Nationwide about this, they still said there was nothing they could do. Through no effort of Nationwide, I was able to track down a handful of other numbers that were associated with the moving company, and one eventually replied only through text messages. After 2 weeks, they said our stuff was still sitting in their warehouse, and to expect an update 3 weeks after pickup. We never heard from the moving company again after this.

- Around 3 weeks after pick up, I got a call from another freight company that said they would be arriving the next day with our stuff. They were apparently hired by the moving company. When they did arrive, they demanded $100 more (cash only). They eventually agreed to the original price because I had the moving company contract that showed the amount due at delivery.

- There wasn't a single item in our delivery that wasn't damaged. Every single box (brand new from Uhaul) was crushed in some way. Every furniture item had significant damage. I wish this was an exaggeration, but it isn't. I haven't even attempted to contact Nationwide about the damage because I know there will be "nothing they can do about it".

- There were a few missing items. Fortunately they weren't of much value. The freight company said they were allowed to load their own truck, so the moving company was responsible for everything here. There was no divider between the next home's stuff on the truck. It was all literally just loose on the truck. They tried to bring in other boxes, but we told them they weren't ours. We also had to get on the truck and sort through the next home's stuff to find items of ours that ended up with theirs.

Needless to say, every single moment of this was pretty terrible. We were kind of expecting the worst with all of this, so in a way, it met our expectations. But I would absolutely never recommend this company, or any moving broker for that matter, to anyone.

Move From Oklahoma To California

Worst move experience ever. I am waiting for my property to arrive here in CA as it is going directly to storage. I will finish my review when all my items are in my possession. However, movers didn't show up on our BACK UP day (they were tired), only showed up with 2 U-Haul trucks (no lift) and refused to take piano. Extremely stressful move and this company does not take accountability- they are simply brokers.

Local move within Georgia

Horrible

We hired the moving company Nationwide Moving & Storage LLC for a move from California to Georgia, when we spoke to the broker on May 11 we explained that we were flying to GA. on July 21 and needed our items and furniture to be delivered around July 22, broker told us that he will have our furniture pick up around July 9 or July 10 to get the closer date for delivery, we were quote $13000 but when it came to the day of the move they told us we had paid a total for the move $20000 for this move which included movers to load and unload. The Company showed up on July 10th to our 5 bedroom house with only 2 movers complaining to us they get paid only $130 at day and they were tired from working 12 hour days. They were moving very slowly & kept saying they had not slept, so we had our sons help them. After a few short hours they said they could not continue as they had only slept 2 hours the day before. Due to the the 2 Movers had to return the following day to complete the load. Today is 7/23 and we called to confirm the items were in Georgia and we were told very rudely that our items were still in California in a warehouse & the furniture will not be delivered for 2 more weeks. My entire household is now in Georgia which includes 4 kids with no furniture in our house, no fished, no pans, clothes etc. We have call several times today and spoke to different individuals & we continued to get the same response “there is nothing they can do, we will have to just wait” and they kept repeating “your first delivery date was July 22” with no explanation why our furniture was still in California. We asked to please relocate us to hotel until our furniture arrive and they denied any further help. As a last resort we found the # to the originally employee named Anthony who setup our original order and he said this was not standard process and he would get in contact with his Director. Unfortunately we are not getting the same story from anyone else who is working today. So now we sit in an empty house w/ kids without the resources we need to survive.

Long-distance move from San Antonio, TX to Boynton Beach, FL

I have been waiting

I contacted Nationwide with my move from San Antonio, Texas to Boynton Beach, Florida. I was not aware that they were a broker until I gave them a deposit and they sub all their moves.

I paid extra for the Platinum coverage too pack all of my Crystal. I was promised with extras that I had not too worry that a quality person would call me 3 too 5 days before my delivery. That never happened. Then they had this dreadful company in a Ryder truck supposed to be at my home at 8am and kept changing times and got there at 8pm on a Sunday and wanted cash, cashiers check or Zelle. I did not have the cash and the Zelle that I tried to sign on would not except until Monday.

Then they tried too bribe me with taking out insurance for $1500 or they refused to pack the Crystal. I was told by the Owner or manager of the company Express Delivery Pros that my delivery that was loaded on the 14th of August it would be a good chance I could receive it by the 20th or the Monday or Tuesday. It never happened and now going on 7 weeks I still have not received. They ran out of boxes, bubble wrap, moving blankets and my move was not that big. The light in the back of the truck was burned out so I pulled my partners car and pulled behind the truck and let the car run for about 5 hours so they could see. I have emailed Nationwide at least 20 times and have called them to speak with the owner of where is my delivery. No success. Then today I had Jacob from Nationwide that they do not have my furniture and I need to call the company that has my furniture. I keep texting and calling and she will not respond. When the movers were finished the night they moved me I had asked for a copy of my inventory sheet and was told they do not have one for me.

Maybe it’s time to do a class action suit if this is how a company does not stand behind their customers and to used these off the wall movers. And your all right Ciera is useless
