Long-distance move from Sioux Falls, SD to Fort Myers, FL

Charged double than quoted, missing items, and showed up late.

I hired them to move my stuff from Sioux Falls SD to Fort Myers FL. One box of kitchen stuff went missing and the price was around 2000 easily to replace the items inside. They claimed that they didn't lose anything and they will only reimburse the actual value of the items if I had the receipts. They showed up to pick up items about 4 hours later than the appointment time. All of the picture frames and many stuff were broken. At the end, the charged my credit card double of what they quoted me and when I called them, they claimed that it was about the weight. I asked them did they calculate the fuel that they put in and weight?? They claimed that they already calculated everything. Stay away from them. That's simple!!

Mid American moving nightmare!

TLDR: Mid American Moving was completely unreachable, bait and switched me for 3 times my quoted move, extorted me for the full price prior to delivery, was not even close to the guaranteed 7-21 delivery window. I was completely convinced they stole all of my stuff, took all of my money and disappeared. Just don’t do it!!

Mid American moving / moving services dsm triple my quote on pickup (from $2700 to $7100) after I had paid deposit and half on pickup and after my items were loaded. They were completely unreachable for 10 days for questioning of my bill, at which time I received a call stating “we would have delivered by now if you paid us in full”. I had been calling for 10 days! Mid American moving continued to extort me for the full new price of $7100. On a guaranteed 7-21 delivery window there was no communication or delivery at 30+ days. I was sure they had stolen my items taken all of my money and disappeared. I finally was able to convince them to just take my stuff back to where it was picked up, they agreed and even offered an unspecified “discount” as my trip was now 200 miles and not 2000 miles.Another few weeks pass with no communication, eventually I got a call that my stuff would be delivered in about 12 hours, when I asked about my discount their response was equivalent to “what discount?”.

Worst EVER! Missing items, broken furniture, no compensation and RUDE

Made the move so much more stressful than it should have been. Charged over double what the quote was (booked through International Van Lines) but once they have your non refundable deposit you are stuck with them and screwed. Had 3 pieces of large furniture broken and many small items broken as well as missing items. We also received 6 large boxes of someone else's stuff. Have not rec'd any insurance settlement and what they are supposed to pay was a joke anyway. To top it off they were extremely rude and threatening. Do yourself a favor and skip this company and a lot of headaches!

Nice and professional, but not perfect

After talking with countless moving I decided to go with Mid American for my long distance move. I chose them because their move coordinators weren't pushy and didn't pressure me like all the other moving companies I talked to did.

I moved from Iowa to Oregon last month and to say I was worried and stressed is an under statement. The day of pick up they came a little bit late and my move ended up costing me a little more than what they originally estimated. ( I ended up bringing more items which is why my cost went a bit up). The moving guys were very nice and professional and explained why my estimate ended up costing more. My items did take a little longer to deliver but it ended up being alright because I wasn't heading straight to Oregon after they picked up my belongings anyway. BUT The absolute best part of the move and also my main concern was that none of my items were missing nor were they broken!! Hallelujah !! For my first time hiring a moving company my experience was overall pretty good . If you are looking for a moving company that takes care of your belongings like they are their own, I recommend going with Mid American.

Smooth transition

We hired MidAmerican Movers to transport our belongings from Johnston to Minnesota. It was a professional transition from point A to B! The movers arrived on time, provided professional customer service, and ensured protection on all our merchandise. We also received an accurate ETA for our belongings, which was crucial since we were on a time sensitive deadline.

When it arrived, a group of gentleman hauled all our belongings inside our new home with carefulness and precision. They asked us where we wanted furniture placed and boxes. We even had some debris in our driveway that they offered to take back on their empty truck for no extra cost.

Overall, it was a smooth transition hiring MidAmerican Moving & Storage. My husband and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a long distance move!

Fabulous Mover

This is my 3rd experience with this company, and they are consistently GREAT. They always hustle (I even caught Rob running in the hallway to get back to my condo faster), which is comforting when paying by the hour. They provided me with a great experience with their service. The crews have all been friendly, smiley, and STRONG. Wow, are they strong? Thanks to Elmer, and George for another good move!!

Great services

Very quick and accurate execution of my request. Booking and delivery happened within hours with appropriate regular contact between myself, MidAmerican Moving, and the driver in-between. The driver behaved as someone who cared for the business, not as an employee of a corporate- who tend to show too much of their displeasure regarding the job to customers, in my view. This company was highly recommended by my friend, and I will too recommend them to everyone I know in a heartbeat without any hesitation!

Worst move ever.

Would give zero stars if possible. Never use this company. They break or damage everything and pay nothing. Boxes arrived crushed. Dining room buffet dropped by mover right off truck ramp in front of me. Some things never arrived. Spent over $19K. Reimbursed $800. Took over a year to settle. Don't even consider them.

Amazing Mover

Jake emailed me the forms as he promised, even without me committing to hiring them. The crew showed up on time on the move date, was very careful with everything, and called us to inform us they took half an hour off for lunch! Cheerful Movers!

The staff has been kind and supportive from the beginning until delivery. They arrived on time and worked quickly and thoroughly to wrap and box our stuff. My furniture and some sturdy plastic items were wrapped in furniture blankets and corrugated boxes for their utmost protection.
