Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Chicago, IL

Way more expensive than they quote you and terrible customer service.

I was directly misled by the sales person who gave me a very low estimate to get me to sign the contract. I ended up paying double this quote. I also was never able to reach anyone during the move, their concept of customer service doesn't seem to exist. Not sure what the point of using them is, unless you want the moving process to be even more frustrating, confusing and more expensive than you thought.

Beware.

BEWARE. YOU WILL BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AND THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY.

From the beginning, I was very honest with them about how I wanted as close to an accurate price as possible in the upfront, as I was unemployed. I took pictures, videos, etc. of my apartment and made it very clear of everything I was moving. I even told them to overestimate my price so I wouldn't be caught with any surprises.

When the movers arrived, they began measuring everything and brought to my attention that they underestimated the size of all of the furniture so there would be added costs. I was fine with it.

I spoke with an APT rep about the final price with the accurate furniture measurements, which we agreed on. THEN the movers notified me that they misquoted some of the items, and I owed an additional $500 after they were almost done loading the truck. They THREATENED to unload the truck with the items that cost that much if I didn't pay it. I was completely taken advantage of, since they knew I was at their mercy because I was moving and they had already loaded up the truck.

They claimed it was a "glitch" in their system, and refused to pay the difference. 1) They should have either caught the mistake when reading me the new quote or 2) When they realized they misquoted, they should have covered the costs. They did neither of these things.

All in all, I ended up paying $1000 OVER the original quote we agreed on. These people are thieves and will steal your money, and find any way to take advantage of you. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau because they need to be held accountable for this kind of behavior.

Long-distance move from Teaneck, NJ to Raiford, FL

These guys are super fast.

These guys are super fast. I had to move a 1 BR apartment. The whole thing went like a charm. From fast response time, when booking the appointment, to a very reasonable quote. Moving APT Movers came on time, and were very quick to pack everything, and move it out. I was out of my apartment in less than an hour and a half.

They drove everything very carefully following my instruction, and once we got to my new home, unloaded and moved everything into place right where I wanted it.

Long-distance move from Sebastopol, CA to Mohegan Lake, NY

This is a terrible and unprofessional moving broker organization.

Used a moving broker by the name of Moving APT out of Florida, who contacted with a MoveR Van Lines out of Las Vegas, for a cross country move.

Both companies were just terrible.

Broker- after initial sales pitch the broker (Robert P) and his supervisor (Ronald) added an additional $5000. to the estimate a day or 2 before the movers came.

When I had issues with the packers and movers, my broker did not return calls or emails. It was as if I never existed. I was assured that the packers and movers were very experienced and skilled this was not the case.

The broker (Robert P) hung up on us when we called him and told him the movers asked for money.

Highly recommended! 5 stars!

I called this company to move a studio apartment in CO. They were professional, quick, and careful with my furniture. Their prices were also reasonable. I would book them again. They were a little late on the day of the move, but that was fine by us because we had some last minute packing to finish.

The manager, Mike, was extremely prompt with responding to my request for quote. The movers were great. They worked hard and fast, and did our whole move from an elevator apartment (3 flights up) in under 3 hours. The service was amazing and worth every penny. Thank you guys!

Great Movers!

Booked a move last week with the most recommended Moving APT. M was a customer service head. He was so kind to help and coordinate my move. He called me with all the detailed info and emailed me a quote as well. My move went as per we decided. I am super impressed and there is no way I am going back to any other movers.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Seattle, WA

Lots of Hidden Fees.

Overall it was an okay experience. Most of my things arrived and they arrived in good condition. There were a couple of lost items that couldn't be located, but luckily they were minor things.

My biggest gripes have to do with the huge additional fees that were tacked on after the initial estimate and the incredibly poor communication after the initial move was setup.

Regarding the fees:

The initial move was quoted around $3300. Part of this fee included the platinum packaging service which was supposed to cover all of the packing that the movers did for a flat fee. When the movers showed up to first pack my things I was charged an additional $1,000 for "packing materials." There has been no explanation of why these charges occurred or what was/was not covered by the platinum service. Additionally, the movers showed up without the boxes initially factored into the price and charged me for cubic footage that was already covered in the initial estimate. Because Moving Apt is a middle man it was difficult to argue with the actual movers at the time of move and so I had to pay to keep things going forward.

Then, at the time of delivery I was charged a $750 shuttle fee because they loaded my items into a semi (it was initially in a smaller truck) and the driver of the semi informed that it would not fit in the alley by my home. This was never brought up by Moving Apt. And I don't understand why they transferred the items into a larger truck only to have to transfer them into a smaller one and then charge me for it!

Regarding Communication:

Initially, the communication was fine. I could contact my rep via phone or text easily. After the delivery it was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone. I would call and leave messages and would have to call again in order to get a response. I would send emails that would be left unanswered. It was poor from both Moving Apt and the company that performed the actual move. Eventually, they respond but it was frustrating to have to follow-up silence so often.

Ultimately, it was just ok. My things did arrive, but there were huge hidden costs in the estimate that were not brought to my attention up front. Basically, feels like a scam. So, just be wary when working with them.

Fraudolent, not professional.

FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD

Since the very beginning when I started to book the moving with Peter, then with Ronal from QA, I have always been told that the inventory was based on ITEMS, and on the contract and estimates were always reporting An itemized inventory of all the items moved.

So when I did the final inventory in the QA call with Ronald, I listed a lot of extra items, and the final price was 3509.03 based on 864 cubic feet.

After that, Ronald told me that when the movers were at my house, they were just loading the items that I listed and if they were fewer I would have paid only for the items that they were carrying on. So I got rid of a lot of items and I removed a lot of them from the inventory.

The total volume removed from the initial inventory was 234 cubic feet, which means that the final volume was approximately 630 cubic feet.

When the movers arrived at my house, they started to measure my furniture and boxes, WHICH WAS NEVER TOLD ME BEFORE, NOT WRITTEN ANYWHERE. Also, the way they measured was super approximate, they added at least 1 foot each side, which of course made everything super big.

So in the end, after the movers measured everything they told me that the total volume of my items was like 53 cubic feet more than the first inventory (865 cubic feet), meaning around 917 cubic feet.

First, I asked to talk to the broker, because I was told something completely different and they get offended and they were leaving my apt. I had to pray them to stay and solve the issue.

After that, I spoke with Alyssa. She cut off the list the items that were not in the inventory any more but increased the volume of some items disproportionately according to the disproportionate measurement of the movers:

- a regular sofa bed 3 seats, went from 60 cubic feet to 80 cubic feet, The sofa bed is a regular sofa bed, not oversize, not super stuffed, but a regular 3 seat sofa.

- 2 chairs overstuffed went from 60 cubic feet to 90 cubic feet The armchairs were already considered overstuffed, why do I have to pay for extra 30 cubic feet? To the movers, 2 chairs are even bigger than a 3 seat sofabed which they made already huge? THIS IS A FRAUD.

- 12 plastic bins (9 approximately 3 cubic feet + 3 approximately 6 cubic feet) went from 66 cubic feet to 132 cubic feet. THEY CHARGED ME FOR 24 PLASTIC STORAGE BOXES, NOT 12. THIS IS A FRAUD.

From 630 cubic feet, Alyssa and the movers made the volume of my item 733 cubic feet. (100 cubic feet more than the real volume)

Moreover, she sent me 2 estimates with 2 different prices for the same volume, and she charged me with the higher price, 3235.02$

Now not only that

- Alyssa was very rude, she was just listening to the carriers, not me, and in the end, she made me choose between the job with the fraudulent price or nothing. That was absolutely unprofessional. I was trying to explain that the boxes were smaller and she didn't listen at all. I sent her pictures and she believed to the carriers, not the pictures.

- not to mention that the movers made me pay 150$ because they considered my apartment starting from the second floor, not the first floor at the front door even though my apt starts at the front door.

- the movers asked the first day available for delivery. The pick-up day was the 25th, so I said the first available day for delivery could have been the 26th, and the movers told me that they could have delivered the day after (26th). So they left my house without releasing me any paper form with my inventory, receipt, nothing at all.

- The day after (26th) when I tried to open the inventory on the email from Alyssa, Ronald, Peter, everything disappeared from the emails. I couldn't see anything anymore. Thank God I had the receipt saved on my laptop.

- On Monday I had to call repeatedly to talk to someone, Alyssa told me again that in 3-4 business day I should have had the delivery (meaning Monday or Tuesday), while on Tuesday the carrier Alex told me he could have delivered the next Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (July 5-6-7). That was absurd.

Also, Peter told me that I should have had a MANAGER DISCOUNT, for the 4% taxes that I had to pay because I used the credit card to book the service, and I never got that discount.

At this point, given all the miscommunication, the lies, unprofessionalism, lack of seriousness of the broker company and the carriers, I am absolutely disappointed and unsatisfied, I wish I had never booked the move with your company, and for this reason, I would like to have my money back.

I have tried to file a claim, but nobody accepts claims: Moving apt directed me to CSI, CSI after 3 weeks told me that the carrier doesn't have an account, I have to call them directly and they never answered me.
