Long-distance move from Illinois to Texas

Terrible movers - they jack up the price and then steal your stuff.

Moving APT gave us a very low quote to begin with and as soon as they had our (of course non-refundable) deposit, they began jacking up the price. First they told me the boxes would not be moved (in spite of the email record telling me they would be). Then they changed the price again to get the movers to actually show up. By the time we were done I was paying almost triple what they had originally quoted me.

The carriers consistently tried to get us to pay more than the agreed upon sum. They lied three times about the number of items we were trying to move, and even tried to change the number again when the items arrived (2 weeks after we moved in). Fortunately I had all of the documentation to prove to them how much we were actually moving. After everything was moved in, we found that they had soaked our mattress which was not only an expensive item to replace, but one of the more expensive items to move. They also delivered a box that did not belong to us. They refused to even consider any compensation. When I contacted them. They were rude and hung up on me several times. Finally they told me to just throw the box away if it wasn't ours! We kept very careful track of our items and if they delivered someone else's items to us then they delivered our property to someone else. I can only assume that they told those people to throw our things away as well.

I will never use a carrier to move again. I will take time off of work and move myself. I only used a carrier because I thought it would be less difficult, but now I know that it will, in fact, be more difficult, cost more money, and we will lose our property.

I gave these carriers 2 stars because they did move some of our items carefully and it was nice to not have to move things up and down the stairs. Also, when faced with irrefutable contractually binding evidence, they did agree to follow the terms I had signed.

I will never use Moving APT again and I strongly encourage anyone who is considering using them to avoid this company at all costs. There is no price tag that is worth this hassle.

Long-distance move from Florida to Alabama

Leverage was positive.

As a service provider I know that the leverage comes from customer satisfaction. Therefore it is mandatory to satisfy clients in every aspect. Moving Apt did the same with me. They showed up every time I needed them. When they finally showed up on the relocation day, they cast their performance spell. The error free dismantling, wrapping and packing up things were way too much beyond expectation. Their crews transferred my goods to my new place safely. I think I am satisfied. Moving Apt is a good one.

Long-distance move from New York to Maryland

Horrible Company.

Worst experience ever beware and do not use this company they are criminals. Initial impression was good I spoke with Adrian who assured me my estimate was accurate and would not be anything additional if everything matched up with what I provided him. I even called twice to add additional items to avoid any surprise charges when it was time for pick up my furniture. I was ADVISED my furniture would be broken down and put back together when picking up and delivery. listed below I have copied and pasted what was noted.. movers requested an additional fee upon delivery of 50 to put my furniture back together.

Understanding Your Estimate
Standard Full Service Move Includes:

Standard Loading and unloading of all items.
Transportation of your shipment.
Dissemble and re-assemble of standard furniture pieces.

I was also told my items would be delivered the same day of pick up since it was a short distance move. ANOTHER LIE Items were picked up on Sunday and delivered Tuesday.

The movers have poor communication. I was advised by Mike they were coming between 12:15pm - 2:15pm.. They did not show up until 4pm no call or anything.. 4 additional items were added on upon the mover picking up the furniture and YES I expected to pay additional. I was told by the sales rep Adrian small boxes were $8 per box and Large bins were $13 per bin. I added a total of 3 small boxes and 2 Large bins when you total that up an additional $50 would be due. So I was completely surprised when the mover sent me a bill with an added $363 dollars for my extra 4 items. Talk About Crooks!! Also upon delivering my furniture I was advised they do not reassemble furniture and if I would like the service I would need to pay an additional $50 for that service.

I proceeded to contact APT MOVERS and spoke with FAITH who advised a manager would call. NO CALL FROM the manager ever happened.. I called in today regarding the matter and was told I had extra items and charged $75 and she than released the call. I called back and she hung up on me again. Never in life have I experienced such poor service beware once they have your money your are no longer a concern.. I've also reached out to Adrian who also now seems to be Mia. Once you sign the contract your not a factor..

Long-distance move from Kentucky to New York

They are the best movers I've ever worked with.

They are the best movers I've ever worked with. They were very careful with my things, worked quickly. The entire move took less time than expected. We moved some things on myself Nothing was broken. But if I were to move again in the near future, I would ask for all the furniture you need to wrap. Overall a very decent company with professional and fast movers.

Very professional.

We would definitely use this moving service again. I recommend them very highly. Got myself 3 movers for my 100 miles away house. Even from my first call to arrange the move to saying goodbye at my new front door; they made our move less stressful and almost enjoyable. The entire moving company from start to finish is professional; even explaining things 2-3 times over if need.

Local move from Harbor City, CA to El Segundo, CA

Moving APT took $2300 from me and Did Not Move Me.

I booked a move a couple of years ago with Moving APT. I was originally living in Orlando, FL and was scheduled to have my furniture moved from California to Florida. They talked me into paying a deposit of $2300 and said that it would be applied to my total moving cost, but when the day came for them to move me, they didn't show up, so I called and called around until I could reach someone and was told that their moving truck broke down on the way to my storage unit. I told them that I wanted to cancel the move and get a refund. They said that they don't give refunds but that I could apply it to a future move. So okay, I am moving now from a city in California to another city in California and they sent me a new booking and I thought I was set to go. Then after signing off on the new estimate, I received a call that that they (Moving APT) would not be able to move me because they don't do "local" moves. So I told them that if they were unable to move me, then I wanted a refund. They said no, that they don't give refunds ,and no, that they can't move me because I'm moving locally to another city in California versus a long-distance move. No one ever discussed this with me when they took my money, nor when I was told that I could use my deposit toward a future move. I had no idea about this policy. Both the refund policy and the local move policy never came up when they were trying to sell me their moving services. I spoke to Lily, the woman who is running the company, and she said that this is in my contract. That's all she would say. She again said that I could use my deposit toward a future move. But I'm not moving across the country, and I either want my money back, so that I can find another company to move me, or I want them to hold up their end of the agreement and move my furniture. My husband and I just closed escrow on the sale of our home and we were counting on this moving service to move us, since they told me that I could use still use my deposit. So now, we are sitting here, with no money and needing to move still, as our home has been sold. I trusted Moving APT with my hard-earned money, to move us and they kept my money and didn't move me. As a matter of fact, they've done nothing at all to earn the $2,300.00 that I paid to them. I am going to do everything in my power to see to it that they don't get away with this, and that they don't do it anyone else.

Moving Apt - The Worst.

WORST SERVICE EVER RECEIVED. I don't know if this is how all moving brokers operate but going through Moving APT was a complete waste of time and money. As soon as they received my deposits it was lights out for them. No help when I emailed and called. I had to deal with the drivers and moving company's myself. Save yourself time and a TON OF MONEY and deal with a moving company directly.

Problem #1: I was not notified prior to the pickup. I did not know the pickup date until the driver called me THE DAY OF to notify me that they would be there within a few hours. Luckily I had my apartment fully packed.

Problem #2: The cost to move all of my belongings is MORE THAN DOUBLE the quote. This I found out when the driver showed up to load my belongings. I realize some of that is on me but MOST of it is on the horrible quote process.

Problem #3: They asked me when I would be ready to accept delivery I said, a week from the pick up date. Now, the moving company is telling me that the 14 day delivery period doesn't even start until the date I gave them for delivery. WHAT?!! Had I known that I would have told them the day after they picked it up!! This lack of communication and clarity on their part is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE.

Problem #4: It took a total of 3 WEEKS for my belongings to be delivered. All communication was done by me, Moving APT DID NOTHING!

My Experience.

I wanted to share my own moving experience which is very different than others. I highly recommend this company when you are looking for professional movers . I actually booked my move from NY to Miami last minute and was very worried things will not go through smoothly. Victory the sales rep was very helpful. She walked me throw the process proving information to all of my question. The price was accurate and on the day of the the move the movers arrived on time , packed and load my belongings in 3 hours and very professionally. I got my stuff in Miami 5 days later . Thank you moving APT you are awesome :-)).

It was a great experience.

It was a great experience. The movers called me to make sure we worked out the details (time, etc.) and they remind me and provided a 30 minute window for arrival. They were right on time and went in to inspect the move and got busy right away. Guys were very careful moving everything and worked very fast. The delivery went without a hitch and I did not have to pay anything extra (time was enough) even though they had the option to pay extra if the moves run longer than agreed. They really don't play around, they get busy to work. I liked their professionalism and the way the whole thing was handled from beginning to end. Deserve a 5+!

Long-distance move from Kentucky to Alabama

Disastrous Move - No responsibility.

Having moved many times in my lifetime (as a Navy family), I took care in communicating with Moving APT in advance to be sure we had the inventory sheet as accurate as possible and had clear expectations. The two representatives at Moving APT seemed honest and professional. Unfortunately, the move was not what we had anticipated. Here is the process:
1. Based on the amount of furniture we have, we were told we would have a large truck and two teams would be needed. We also had a baby grand piano and a few smaller items which needed special care. We paid a premium for all of this.
2. Moving APT outsources moves with various vendors. Apparently, unknown to us, at the last minute there was a company change. So, the second company showed up in the afternoon, rather than the morning on the moving date.
3. The truck was a Penske rental and too small for the job. Not at all what we'd been told.
4. As soon as the movers arrived and did a walk through, the head guy increased the price by $700, even though we had removed two large items from the list altogether. We tried calling Moving APT and were made to believe we had no choice but to follow through. (we were told today - 2 months later - that we could have cancelled the whole thing and gotten our deposit back, which was not offered at the time). We signed the paperwork and hoped for the best.
5. The crew scratched our new bamboo flooring. Be aware - the contract does not cover damage to floors!
6. The moving company (All State Movers) dispatcher insisted that delivery had to be the next day, even though we had been assured by Moving APT that there was a 500 mile limit for drivers, so we would have at least a day between pick up and delivery. Then the dispatcher called back to concede that the distance was too far - although only after we had jumped through hoops to try to arrange to meet the truck at the other end. Then she said that the truck would be late because the load was 'so heavy and dangerous,' the driver would need to drive VERY slowly. This was completely untrue. Instead, the truck had gone from our pick up state to another state (not our delivery state). Our furniture had been at least partially unloaded and the truck used for another job, then our furniture was reloaded and three of the team members continued on to our state. They arrived late in the afternoon, two days after the pick up.
7. The three team members were not nearly enough for the amount of furniture or weight of some pieces, specifically the piano. Furthermore, they clearly had no idea how to unload the piano, get it in the house, or install the legs once inside. They actually got is stuck in the front yard on a piano dolly. At one point the piano was leaning precariously off of the truck lift. Then they tried to roll it (yes, somersault it) through the doorway. If my husband had not been here to talk them through and assist in what to do for getting the piano in the house and then the legs on it, we would have had a major disaster with the whole thing in terms of hard to the piano or to one of the crew members. Both my husband and I worked for nine hours assisting them. As it was, they did not finish until after 9:00 PM. Also, they paid no attention to the word 'FRAGILE' on any of the boxes.
8. Our newly refinished hardwood floors were damaged during delivery (but again, there is no coverage for that). Additionally, two of our antique tables were damaged. The crew head spoke with the dispatcher (the same one who had already lied twice) and then insisted that they should take the furniture, repair it, and return it. We reluctantly agreed (big mistake)..
9. After two months of dealing with All State Movers (because Moving APT takes NO responsibility at all and now insists that our contract was with the moving company, not Moving APT), we have been offered $48 for our antique tables and they were listed as lost on the letter. When we called to request that they simply return the furniture, the dispatcher *yes, same gal we had dealt with previously) insisted the tables were still in their shop, but the customer service person indicated that the tables had been disposed of. Both pieces were family heirlooms. The Moving APT nightmare continues.

Moving APT seemed like a reputable company when we worked with them originally. However, you should be advised that contracting the moving to other companies puts the customer at risk. At this point, it seems that no one is willing to take responsibility for what has been quite a difficult process. No move is perfect. Stuff happens. However, this has been an exceedingly bad experience that no one should encounter.
