Movers Not Shakers

I used them as a good friend had recommended them to me.  I can't really fault them until it came to paying the bill when Mike tried to charge me more because he under quoted the job, and then he wanted to add boxes on to the price, but had never mentioned that when he said he would bring boxes over.
I was prepared to pack myself, but he suggested no, as it is a fully insured sevice.
I have an ottoman bed which they have twisted the frame on, put holes through the base boards and scratched the frames.
Well, since I have asked for them to send me the claim forms, nothing, no responses to the emails or text message.
I recommend paying on your credit card as you can reverse the charge and then they have to respond. 
Wouldnt use them unless they give you a copy of thier insurance details and you check them out before booking with them.
I also sent the guys a £15 tip each.  Mug!
Wont be using them again.

Simon and Calvin were really professional they turned up on time and very polite and friendly. I was nervous moving after 12 years! I was moving from a house share to a 1 bed flat. It gave me peace of mind to have a professional team. Booking the move was very good as well, I spoke to Clinton the manager only a week or so before, because I did not have an exact date for the move until very last minute, once I got my completion date I was able to book the move with ease just a few days before with Clinton, when I spoke on the phone to Clinton he really knew his stuff and even the area that I was moving to and that it would be difficult to park there. During the day of the actual move, everything was moved into the van by Simon and Calvin very well and carefully, they asked me if I had anything that needed careful attention, and they put extra bubble wrap on some items and gave a few extra boxes, they had a plan of which items to put in the van first. At the other end we had trouble with my wardrobe and it was entirely my fault for not measuring it! They were able to help me with that and generally very helpful and good professional people, I would highly recommend them for a move, really happy that it went smoothly because it is such a stressful day, but they made it less stressful, it is a hard job. Thanks again.

These guys come across as friendly at first. The trouble for us started when they cracked the glass on our stovetop by dropping a bottle of oil on it causing £400 of damage in our rented property. We realized when they left for the day (they were the only ones who had been in the kitchen the whole time and we subsequently discovered the smashed bottle of oil they had thrown out to hide the whole incident). When we informed Clinton, he became irate, aggressive and very nasty calling us liars and all sorts of other names. He made an already stressful move an absolutely awful experience for my family and I.

It was then that I realized that Clinton repeatedly denies any and all damage on his moving jobs to avoid paying for damage or making any insurance claims. There are many people who have had a similar experience. We also sensed that the guys who do the actual move are grossly underpaid as they seemed generally unmotivated and were too afraid to admit the damage to the stove.

Anything we thought we were saving by using these guys was outweighed by the cost of the damage they did to the property. Avoid at all costs.

The three guys moved all our stuff quickly and efficiently and we were pleased until they had left. They had spent s lot of time in the baby's room and we realised why when we finally saw our baby's cotbed. They had reassembled it in his bedroom and screwed the screws right through the wood. There were splinters all over the floor and when we contacted Movers Not Shakers (3 attempts), their response took over a week and the email back was short and informed us their insurance didn't cover reassembly of flat pack. I then called them and "Mike" answered.
He was rude, insulting, aggressive and shockingly unprofessional. He told me that "they know more about flatpack than I ever will" and his tone was completely unacceptable throughout.
I urge anyone to use another company and hope they can find some professionals. Avoid this incompetence at all costs.

Wow, the team that moved my family did a fantastic job. My family of 4 was moving from a 2 bedroom flat to a 3 bedroom house. We had Movers Not Shakers do a full packing service and move. The team of 4 did a stellar job. They completed the pack and move in one day. They worked tirelessly, had great attitudes, and were all around great people. This was a top team - I could not have asked for more.

The price was reasonable and the communication was effortless and quick. I felt comfortable the whole way through. They made what could have been a stressful day as simple as it could have possibly been. Would definitely use again!

Incompetent and unprofessional.

Their quote was cheap, then they tried to add charges and inflate time spent.

Beware firms that:

- claim to be insured but cannot provide evidence. (Movers Not Shakers and their employees engaged in abusive behaviours after damaging my goods, and generally handled themselves in a way that suggests lack of coverage), or

- are not members of any professional organisations or the Removals Ombudsmen scheme.

This company has changed beyond recognition, all I need to say is, they arrived late and hungover (one of the men actually told us this) and one of the young eastern european guys told me to "F** off, I'm not your slave" after I asked him to move something! The owner said he was stressed out with a new baby, we had to ask him to leave (he was threatening) so the move took longer and the atmosphere was dreadful. The owner mike has no idea about customer service or care. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I wanted to hire a removal company that was honest and reliable and with whom I could entrust my belongings. However, I was really disappointed with Movers not Shakers. They arrived over 2 hours late and offered only a "you'll never believe what a day I've had" as an apology (a job overran). When trying to resolve the situation I was told by Mike that "when the boiler man says he will be there between 8am and 8pm you just have to wait in for him don't you?" I am aware that other jobs can overrun but when you book a specific slot you expect them to turn up roughly on time!   If you want to go with these guys then maybe lower your expectations somewhat. I saw that they were recommended by Timeout and so trusted that they would be reliable but I really wouldn't recommend these guys from my own experience. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!

Movers Not Shakers did an excellent job moving all of our belongings over the last weekend. From speaking to Mike and his foreman Clinton on the phone to the final payment with the moving team they were highly professional and wanted to make things as easy as possible for us. Two guys came and pre-packed most items on Saturday afternoon and then returned with extra help to load up on Monday morning, wait in the vans for completion and then unload at the other end. All large furnature was disassembled and reassembled with ease.

Unprofessional and reliable
Recommended as a professional company, expensive but unfortunately two boxes were missed and the company manager denied and said there was no insurance and we did not request it.
The workers did notice that there whereto boxes missed but the manager denied and did not admit it and he did not even call me to explain, I had to call him several times to have an answer and his answers basically I am not sure we lost them might be that you have them!!
Unprofessional, unreliable don't trust them stay away from them.
I am going to sue them.

I moved from a townhouse in Chelsea to another one half a mile down the road with an excess of 80 boxes, plenty of furniture and tons of steps at both ends. In particular, I was dreading the removal of my large sofa which was delivered from Harrods with a hoist through my window and would have to go out the same way due to tight corners and stair constraints.  Clinton first made contact over the phone and sent Mike to survey the place. His survey was very thorough (in contrast with two other companies I had already contacted), as were his intentions regarding removal of the sofa. His quote was half what was quoted by another company and included full packing service and full furniture reassembly at the new house.  The Council refused parking permission for the hoist (red route) at short notice but the team (of 5) was able to lower my sofa on the balcony below and exit the building in no time at all. Luckily, permit for the van and the hoist was granted at the other end. All of my belongings were packed on a Thursday and were delivered, with furniture reassembled, on the Friday.  I really cannot fault these guys and found them (Robert, Fabio, Simon.. and whoever else was with them) to be very able and graceful. There was no huffing and puffing and no resenting my move to a house full of stairs as I had experienced in the past with other companies. They stayed completely cool under pressure, were able to remove a difficult sash window and reassemble it with no probs, and finished early on the Friday, scooting off at 3 pm and leaving me in a house that was pretty much 'sorted'. I am not looking forward to move again any time soon of course, but when I will, I know who to call. Thank you Movers Not Shakers! Steph~.

Movers Not Shakers made our move simple. From an easy pre move consultation to a fuss free removal, move and move in our team made the matter of getting out of the old place and getting into the new one straightforward and stress free. We had pieces disassembled to move out and reassembled upon move in. Their service level meant we could expedite our move and get settled in sooner than expected. They even came back to collect our boxes afterwards.

The team were professional and curteous and we highly recommend them!

We used Movers Not Shakers for the second time recently to move from London to Birmingham.

Clinton was fantastic in providing a competitive quote soon after my enquiry.

On the day of moving, the men were very efficient and friendly, with no aspect being too much trouble for them. We had the full packing service and all of our fragile items arrived intact.

I highly recommend this company and look forward to using them again next time we move home.

Having considered a number of quotations for our move we selected Movers Not Shakers. The estimate was not the cheapest nor the most expensive but seemed to be sensible and fair compared to the others. The preparation pre-move was excellent with good communications and parking suspensions were arranged for us. We chose the packing service which proved to be a massive help. The team that carried out the move were absolutely brilliant - really professional but also really friendly and incredibly hardworking. They were also very attentive to our needs, moving our office equipment last and then installing it first thing the next day so that we could continue to work. Excellent value for money and I would recommend to anyone.

I was really pleased with the job this firm did.

Right from the start with the telephone booking they were helpful and straightforward. Guys were efficient, friendly and speedy and got two sofas out of a hard to access property with no fuss.

I felt everyone went out of their way to help and it made such a difference that everyone actually works for the business and they all know each other. Much more reliable than bigger firms which contract out.

Only drawback was minimum 3 hour charge but I knew this in advance. The rate of 65 per hour plus VAT was reasonable. Highly recommended.

We recently moved from a basement-access 3 bedroom flat to a 3 bedroom house. We needed to move all our furniture and belongings, and also move a section of our belongings into storage and dispose of some unneeded furniture. Clinton was extremely helpful in organising this from start to finish. He was able to assess the project requirements over a Facetime video call (very helpful when you're busy at work and can't easily accommodate an in-person inspection). He also proposed a storage solution (using a Big Yellow facility in South London) that was much cheaper than local facilities, and provided a van to take the relevant items to the storage unit / dump. The move was done over two days, and on the second day, there were up to 6 men with 2 vans helping out. The team was extremely professional and polite, and great to hang out with. They took great care of our belongings, despite access being awkward at both locations, and all our belongings ended up intact and where they needed to be. We've used corporate relocation services in the past, and this was an equivalent level of service. I particularly liked the fact that Clinton was easily accessible throughout the process whenever I had a question, and was able to adapt the service throughout whilst we figured out what we needed to do. All in all, they provided great peace of mind during a very busy and stressful time, and I would recommend them highly and use them again in future.
