Long-distance move from Oregon to Kentucky

Mis quoted price

We moved from Oregon to Kentucky. First, no one came to evaluate our items because of Covid-19. The price we were quoted was half of what it ended up costing (13,000 was quoted 7500). Movers showed up in a small truck and ended up making 2 trips. The date we were quoted to have our belongings delivered was actually 3 weeks later. Items were missing upon delivery plus numerous broken dishes and furniture. I have moved 4 times in my life and this was by far the worst experience. Only plus was not having to move the furniture yourself. Still scratching my head and wondering if it was worth it.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $13000

Official company response

First and foremost Medal of Honor is not what so ever satisfied when we have an unsatisfied customer. The reason why we brought a 26 ft. truck is because the customer's original estimate was based upon 1,100 cubic feet. A 26 ft. truck has the capacity to hold up to 1,800 cubic feet. Based upon the above claim the carrier had to make an additional trip to service the move. The customer agreed to and signed the contract that detailed if the cubic footage exceeded the estimated quote an additional cost would apply. As far as missing items and damages are concerned , we will gladly walk you through the claims process if needed. Feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience. We can be reached at 844-677-4836. Thank you.

*****DO NOT REQUEST THIS COMPANY. They contract to other moving companies so your stuff gets moved around constantly to other movers.

Official company response

We investigated the matter at hand. Based on the inventory signed at pickup there were only 7 items missing when the items were delivered. Atlantis apologizes for the mishap and we do empathize with this situation. We recently found out that the items were located in the warehouse and are now in transit to the customer's destination. Also , we reached out to the carrier to start the claims process for any damages. Moving is very stressful , strenuous and we must understand that damages will occur from time to time. If so , the situation will be rectified to the fullest. If there are any questions , concerns or the needing of help to start the claims process feel free to contact us at 844-677-4836. Thank you.

Long-distance move from Bossier City, LA to Williston, ND

Started out wonderful......

My husband contacted Medal Of Honor to handle our across country move from LA to ND. We received a quote for our 2 bedroom apartment as well as 600 cubic foot storage unit(not packed full). We received a quote of 869 cf which wasn’t enough to include the storage unit). We were given our move date of June 6th. events too place and husband had to leave for ND leaving the children and I alone in LA. After 2 weeks I called MOH and they moved our date up to 5/26 thankfully. Stacey was amazing with that and we appreciate all her hard work on that. After that the issues started. We were told that we would receive a phone call 5/23 to confirm our day/time. That phone call never came. I called5/24 with no answer. Left a couple messages no return of call. husband called multiple times with no answer. we made contact and we were told they would be there Wednesday to load. my husband received a call from the driver stating he was running late and wouldn’t be there. I then received a call Tuesday from a driver named Amir stating he was there. I showed him what was to be moved and he said he would be back in the morning. I received a call as we were leaving the storage facility and it was MOH. They informed me not to let him load our stuff that he was not our mover. So being plans changed once again I had to reschedule our move out time from the apartment. On 5/26 our mover showed up and went over the property to be moved. He was 2 hours late and informed me that our cost would be double the quoted price! As stated before, yes we would have needed a little more if the storage unit was taken. Once he started taking inventory he said it went off the number of items we had not CF. That was news to me. So I told him we had to get the apartment because we had no more time and had to vacate by 5pm. He worked up the contract and told me we had 1,304 cubic foot of items and it would be over $1000 more for our move with only the apartment! Being a woman alone with children having to leave I felt I had to no choice but to sign and get it going. Once the helpers finally arrived it was going incredibly slow (not the drivers fault). We were running up on 5pm and needless to say we didn’t make the deadline. Mind you, everything was packed and ready for them. I started helping as well so we could finish. I have made this move 4 times in the past 6 years and this is the first we hired out. we were told 10days for our belongings to reach us. Yeah no, the driver marked that out and said 21 days and that MOH likes to say 10 days but it’s really 21. Fast forward, everything is done and the kids and I reach ND. husband looks at the bill of lading to see why it was more when the storage unit wasn’t taken. He worked the cubic footage sheet with the inventory list and low and behold we were over charged! The cubic footage we had moved was approximately 852cf. So he began calling MOH to see what we could do. Same issue of messages left with no call back. He finally made contact and they had not received the bill of lading after requesting it 3xs. They couldn’t do anything until they had that. Kevin at Medal of Honor told him multiple times I will call you back with no follow through. 6/7after multiple calls my husband was told they were reviewing the bill of lading and would call back with the resolution because they wanted to fix this before delivery. no call back. We got a call from the driver at 10pm that evening saying he would be here between 12and 5. As soon as MOH opened today(6/8) we began calling. Left messages and nothing. Finally after hours of trying to get through I was told they hadn’t received the bill of lading. Y’all were reviewing it yesterday. I was told I would get an immediate call back. An hour later I called and left another message and finally received a call from Kevin. Kevin informed me that the driver said we had 1,304cf and the amount due was correct. Well his amount was correct on his paper. We were trying to tell them the cubic footage was inflated. I explained to him how we came to our conclusion and that 6 months ago we used a 26ft Penske truck to move ALL of our belongings storage included not stacked and roughly 5 ft to spare And we have gotten rid of a kitchen table&dressers. A 26ft Penske truck has 1,700 cf. I informed Kevin I felt that the driver took advantage of the fact I was a woman alone and inflated the numbers. And what we could do to rectify the situation. He more or less told me there was nothing they could or would do. And that cubic footage depends on the truck and not the actual cf. that I needed to trust the drivers numbers even though they do not add up. And that our dispute is between us and the driver. I told Kevin we wanted to give them the chance to rectify the situation before taking further action. If you are contemplating using a moving company I would strongly advise going with a different one especially if you are a woman. I will be filing a claim with BBB and with the contracted company

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7650

Official company response

We were in constant communication with Mr. Steen pertaining to this move. As referenced in the statement above from the customer , we indeed were able to accommodate the customer's preferred move date . The task was challenging due to distance, location in North Dakota but we made it happen. The customer was booked at a estimated 859 cubes based on items provided to Medal of honor. The customer was fully aware that cubic footage could fluctuate when the carrier arrives at the origin. When they arrived, they noticed at the first location had 1300 cubes alone. The customer proceeded by signing the revised contract for the actual cubes. In the aftermath , she believed that she was taken advantage of based on her gender. We assure you that MEDAL OF HONOR does not represent nor tolerate favoritism whatsoever. There must be a clear understanding that if the cubes increase , the price will increase and vice versa . It is not fair for the workers to load and unload more cubes without being compensated. To add to that note , a overage in cubes may derail a perfect route that was logistically planned highly in advance . So ,that being said , it is in our best interest that our main focus is transparency. I realize that this situation did not turn out as planned for the customer nor medal of honor. But I am optimistic that we will put forth more efforts in our goal to satisfy all customers.

Long-distance move from Madison, WI to Sapulpa, OK

Still do not have a delivery date scheduled

I was moving from WI. to OK after I retired. I contracted with Medal of Honor movers about 6 months before the move in order to get "the winter moving rates". I paid by credit card a deposit for a quote for a little more than their minimum cubic feet. I called a few times in the next six months to insure I was still on their schedule. I was assured all was well and they would give me a 5 day notice before the pickup. I had been given a moving window of May 20 to May 25. I was told that I would need to pay an additions $451.00 because the original quote did not have the 6 wardrobe boxes I had said I would need. This increased the size of my load by 50% and therefore the additional charge.

I got a call from a company I thought was MOH and was told they would be there on the 21st between 8 and 12n to pick up my belongings. I got a call on May 20 telling me that they would be coming the afternoon and not the morning of the 21st since a truck had broken down and they needed to change the schedule. This woman was very nice and I was glad to not have to scramble in the morning since I am not a morning person.

The crew came and I was told the move would cost me $1778 and I would need to pay cash or a postal money order. They packed up my stuff and the crew leader again came back with another bill stating it wasn't the cubic feet that he had estimated before they got it on the truck. I was also charged $100 for using and elevator and $100 for more than 100 feet carry from the door to the truck. I told the crew leader that I was at his mercy. Since I did not have enough cash because the amount was three times the original quote, he said he would take a personal check. Seems that even after I had been assured by Medal of Honor that they had their own trucks and did not broker out their moves, they had brokered this out to U. S. Best movers. I was never told that until the movers showed up.

It is a good thing I printed out my original contract with Medal of Honor movers since the reference link that I have in their emails comes back as no invoice on server. I have now been charged three times the original quote for my move.

After waiting a week and a half to hear from the movers to schedule a delivery date, I did not hear from anyone so I called Medal of Honor movers. I left messages finally was given the dispatch number which turned out to be U.S. Best movers. I was told by the dispatcher from U.S. Best to save her number and she would always return my calls and she has done so.

I write this review on June 9th. I have been trying to find out when my belongings will be delivered. I still do not have an answer. I started a dispute with the credit card company for the second deposit amount I had to pay. I called Medal of Honor customer service yesterday and they sent me an email that made it seem we were just starting the process and they had not picked up my belongings. I called this morning and was hung up on when I gave them my name. I called U.S. Best movers and left a message. I got a call back with the hour. I was told Medal of Honor was not the one that had my things and that there still was not delivery date to receive my items. I was told my items were sitting in Dallas and were not yet scheduled to be delivered and we were in the 5 to 10 day window from the 1st. Since the person with whom I was speaking could not tell me when the delivery will be scheduled, I asked that a supervisor who was actually in charge of scheduling my delivery call me since every time I talk to someone, it is still in the 5 to 10 business day delivery window.

I have back problems and will now order a mattress from Amazon to replace the one that I sent with the movers. Maybe someday I will get the rest of my belonging.

If you must contact a moving company do not us this one.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $5000

Official company response

After reading this review and investigating this matter, what came to my knowledge was that the customer signed at pickup, a NO DELIVERY CLAUSE before June 1. I believe the customer did not know by doing so , it could possibly delay her direct route to Oklahoma. We are in communication with our carrier and delivery will take place shortly.

Long-distance move from Oklahoma City, OK to Houston, TX

Move from Oklahoma to Houston TX

Do not use this company. They are nothing but a middle man and the customer service is horrible. First of all, the sales specialists are liars and they will tell you whatever you want to hear to get a sale. I was quoted 2200 for all my stuff, we went over everything 3 different times but at the moment of pick up, I had to pay 1000 more even though I ended up subtracting 10 boxes, 2 nightstands, and 3 bar stools. They will purposely under-quote you. Second, at the moment of sale, I was told my stuff will be delivered within 2-3 days, at the time of pick up that changed to 7-10 days. It ended up taking 18 days for me to get my belongings. The company broke one of my dining chairs and lost one of my mattresses. My experience with this company was horrible and extremely stressful. Please stay away.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

Official company response

We sincerely apologize for any delays that occurred pertaining to delivery. Due to the pandemic it has been very hard to meet normal expectations but we will continue to persevere during trying times. The carrier is aware of the missing item and will be expediting that item on the next trip to the Houston area. Also, we were assured by carrier , that the damage item will be taken care of.

Local move within Indiana

Don't believe anything.

I used there service in November for a move from California to Indiana for a 2 bedroom apartment. Quoted over the phone was $2560, when the movers showed up they adjusted the quote to over $5000.. I was stuck between in a rock and hard place and had to vacate that day. Total Screw Job. I am a veteran and was screwed by these people.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5200

Official company response

We deeply apologize that the cost of your move increased. We try our hardest to provide you with an accurate estimate as possible based upon inventory provided. Hence why we provide each and every customer 2-3 days prior to their move a quality assurance call to update inventory list if needed before pickup. We provide you with an estimate based upon the cubic footage which means that there is a possibility if you have more items or less the rate would be adjusted accordingly as stated in our contract.

Top Level Service.

Amazing service. After my last experience using a full service moving company I was hesitant to get quotes again. But based on my research, looking at DOT’s and reviews the answer was pretty clear. They weren’t the cheapest price but I firmly believe you get what you pay for.
