You need to check boxes off by serial number as they come off the van. Unloading will take much longer but this is the only way to know if everything has been delivered. Your movers will not like this. You will be asked to sign that all has been delivered and this is the only way to know. Our movers Dan and Bev Kasper packed dressers without our knowledge. We didn't know about these boxes. These boxes are lost. Family photos gone. They also removed all shelving from bookcases and other furniture. They delivered other customers shelves. The shelves have serial number tags the movers put on. They are not interested in getting these items to their owners. The numbered tags ID the customer but movers do not care. Two furniture pieces ruined for others. The cost would have been half if I had paid someone to load pods and transport across country. Plus I would have everything. The moving business needs to be legally cleaned up. When happened to us is not right. I compare it to a house hold fire. So much lost/gone.

Im glad I came here to read these reviews and have dogged a big EXPENSIVE bullet.

TLDR: They wanted to charge us 3x the cost to move us 1/3 the distance. We moved from CA to NJ 2 years ago and were charged 10k$ to move us 3k miles. 2 years later, the same amount of stuff to move to FL about 1k miles, 32K$!!?!?!? For that price I could get a uhaul and move family antiques, our clothes and other household items (for at the MOST 10K) then buy BRAND NEW furniture with a 20k budget.

Longer-more details:

We move 2 years ago from SF CA to North NJ. About 3k miles. While we had a much smaller home(about 1500 sq ft) but we had stuff from 2 other investment homes (we furnished to do airbnb) and being a family of 4, a good deal of stuff and furniture. In the last 2 years, we haven't bought any new furniture other than some patio furniture. Our household items are the MOST same or less more likely) bc we already did an "initial move"(hubby that works from home and our 2 kids wanted to get down to FL ASAP) where we moved a few beds, a couple of couches, hubby's work desk(that is motorized to go up and down( daily dishes, pots and pans, other essential items packed into our Ford van and a Uhaul trailer we rented for 1k. We are moving from a 5,500 sq ft house to a 2000 sq ft house. I think the woman that gave us the estimate saw the big "mansion" and gave us the "mansion" price.

Listen, I get that gas has doubled in price since 2020 but I asked 3 very accomplished real estate agents to guess the outrageous price I was quoted and all three said "10K!" These ppl have billions of $ of home sales under their belts and know how much things should cost.

Needless to say, we will be going with a different company!!

Needless to say that looking through different moving companies for quotes was a nightmare with lots of phone calls the following days.. mayflower however gave us a quick estimate, Marlo on the phone was very nice and spent almost 1 hour answering all our questions, virtually touring the house and explaining everything. We moved from Miami FL to Denver CO and the price was fair, not a lot more expensive than renting a truck ourselves and driving across country.

the delivery happened the day it was supposed to at the exact time that was discussed.

Both loading and unloading crews were super efficient and very nice. Everything arrived in good condition, besides a couple dents on some furnitures that were reported on a claim. The move coordinator was very present and answered emails within just a few minutes every time we had a question. I was terrified of moving companies after reading so many bad reviews and some relatives that went through hell when they hired one. I am relieved and thankful to know that some companies are still serious and honest

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7149

Our move was scheduled the 28th of june, and was due to be done in one day so we could have the rest of the month to clean the home we were leaving and have it vacant by the 30th. the company came to evaluate the 27th and at the point told me they had poor communication with their office and they were not able to move our household until the 30th. We had to rent our home for an additional 5 days (couldn't turn our keys in on the weekend) people had to wait to get into the home they had been told was going to be available to them on the 1st of july. they then moved all goods to a storage unit where another company then picked it up and brought to our new home. Most of the boxes were packed very well. there were about 10 that were almost unrecoverable. there was medicines mixed with bathroom and lotions and other liquids seeping out of the boxes. carpets, blankets and towels were ruined and everything inside was a mess and wet. I am very disappointed and will not again use this company or will refer to any friends or colleagues.

I chose Mayflower because of name and had confidence in their ability to complete a transaction in a professional manor. Their price was fair, they took longer to find a driver then we discussed, and when an date was agreed upon, the company then changed the date and pick up time..The pick up point was unavailable at the new timing. When I called Mike he went "OFF" and offered no help other then he told me no deposit return and he was not going to work on this shipment since he had re-scheduled without consultanting me, I feel he was in error, but refusing to work to correct the situation, he just wanted the deposit money and left me without any recourse, screw me in other words..Hmmmm my solution was to cancel my credit transaction and put it in contest..I'll see him in court in my ballpark so to speak..so my word of caution is "Mayflower Sucks"..and to you, I advise you to always pay by credit card and you can beat these crooks at their own game..let a judge decide the merits of the case..

Service cost: $450

We had a delivery window of 1 week and after the last day of the window came and passed, we found out the local company they contracted with didn't have ability for another 3 weeks. Mayflower does not move your items yourself. It is completely dependent on the schedule of a local provider schedule. They also only use 1-2 providers in a state so no way to get a faster delivery or new options. We were left without our stuff with no way of getting it...and honestly since its a big company, they don't really care as you have to pay upfront. If you get a quote that is similar in price...please use them. It's a massive risk with Mayflower.
