Local move within Michigan

Do not use these crooks!!

They came to pick up our items for small move from MI to FL. 6 weeks later, and now past 2 of the dates they told us our stuff would leave The warehouse and still has not left yet. They refuse to give us even an estimate of one we might get our things. We don't live full time in Florida and we've flown down twice now based On the original dates they gave us To be there to receive our belongings which have never come. The woman Ashley on the phone along with another older woman are dreadful! Profoundly rude and will not give a straight answer and have no accountability. Run, don't walk away from this terrible company!!

Moving.

April did a very good job in lining up move of furniture and pricing and was very helpful. She told me how they were going handle the packing and they would do a good job and be on time. Three men came to pickup furniture and they did a very good job of packing and loading truck. They told me the move to Pa would be approximately their wed or thurs and I am sure it will be.

Long-distance move from Florida to Indiana

Non-delivery of furniture.

Long Haul Van Lines got me to take their bid with a pleasant businessman, low bid price and promise of delivery(piggyback) in 3 to 5 days. It has been 12 days and the original businessman has not called me back. The phone receptionist keeps making excuses. They still have our furniture and refuse to tell us when the driver will deliver the furniture. They have lied to me, and in essence , ARE holding my furniture hostage. It may even come down to theft, if the company does not come through soon. I could have made the trip and Back 4 times. It was deceitful to say that they had 2 families going to Indiana and that our furniture would top off the load (piggyback). They are now dodging our phone calls. This is a multi-culteral company. The front man spoke precise english, but every other person has a different dialect. I am dissapointed in this melting pot operation.

Long Haul Van Lines.

I had a great experience with Long Haul Van Lines, thanks primarily to my salesman, Michael Green and the Foreman, Ricardo. They were prompt, courteous, honest and helpful in every aspect of the move. I had to have a very quick turnaround and they accomplished it with ease. I highly recommend Long Haul Van Lines to all, and I will use them again, should I need them.
Thanks guys for all of your help.

Long-distance move from Florida to Tennessee

Very dissatisfied.

Do NOT use this company! I measured everything as quote process was done, it ended up double what I was quoted even after I was told one of the reasons was because my 4/chair and kitchen table were oversized. It would come apart but I left it behind because it seemed a big deal to the guy packing. It didn't change the price after all! I didn't have time to start over so had to let them move me. During the loading Joe kept saying.. Can you take this, pictures and other things, he said it was just to much! Seriously I was down sizing and only taking enough to for a ONE bedroom apt. And he felt it was too much?!? I told him to leave whatever was "to much" for what his updated quote would cover and I would give the rest away. Furniture was to be delivered on Thurs and they did say it might be Friday. I received it Saturday night at 6:00. Bed and nightstand were broken. Boxes crushed other items beat up. Now noone will return a call or email. Worst experience ever! It makes me sick to feel so taken advantage of!

Long Haul Van Lines is a Scam.

Do not even consider engaging this company to perform moving services. Extensive damage to personal property, dropped piano, area rugs arrived wet and stained, delivered boxes and items that are not ours, failed to deliver items that have apparently been lost, stolen or destroyed. Binding quote is NOT a binding quote. Actual charges were more than 60% over "Binding" quote. Bait and switch. Insurance company unresponsive to damage and loss claim. Company executives will not take phone calls or respond to emails regarding problems, complaints. $42,000 piano ruined. Heirloom furniture badly damaged. Failed to pack boxes properly. Failed to provide proper packing materials and containers. Personnel discourteous, inexperienced, untrained. Management evasive and deceitful. Failed to label boxes and contents. Failed to place furniture and cartons in destination residence. Failed to perform on schedule. HUGE mistake hiring this company.

Long-distance move from Florida to Illinois

21 days.

The original driver, Igar C. Said he expected to drive my load, this did not happen, Victor brought my load after 21 days, I had contacted my city for cones to insure easy access, the city in turn let the local Police Dept. know that a large truck would be accessing the street, Sosa to make access as close as possible . I did not have to do this, but, I was trying to make it easy and therefore insure care would be taken with my things. Nothing good came from this move, different Van altogether, which means transfer of my goods.
Driver waited 2 hours in my living room, wanted coffee, and tried to find helpers to unload, no helpers had a car, driver was here before 10:00 -am, then left , truck, van and all to drive to distant city to pick up helpers, all 3 were kids, one had done this before, the other two were quite young, nice boys, but, untrained, they started to unload at 2:00 pm, did not finish until 12:05 am. Before Victor the driver would let them begin unloading he insisted I pay balance , when they left, all was chaos, many boxes were soaking wet, stuff falling out the bottom, many had been repacked, I could tell because they used different tape much of flower beds destroyed, broken glass everywhere, ( I cleaned up the street next morning) Driver said not his fault and he had to get moving because he had a load to take to California next morning, I wish now in hind site that I had called police and had them monitor the unloading, then pay. I see no way the long haul moving people who under bid, then over charge, they take 20 days to deliver should or would care if the customer was happy or not, I originally dealt with Assurance moving, they were a broker, then they find a van line to accommodate move. There were many excuses from both parties as to why there was a delay of that much time, the last was they had no one licensed to drive inter state, funny that they call themselves Long Haul Van Lines, bet they had to pay the BBB a lot to make that claim to fame.
Needless to say, don't use either of these companies. I called the cleaners to pick up my clothes, they were all wet. I called refinished for an estimate on the pieces of broken furniture. Casters were removed and packed separate, the one wood drafting table had little steel castors, those they broke. Then they kept my garage can where the put some of the mover blankets, and my 4 step ladder they took also, that's all I found missing so far, before driver left I asked him where his listing sheet was that he checked off the items they unloaded, said there was no list because most of boxes had no I.D. Stickers, I'm just glad they are gone, the driver was big and scary!! I have too many photos to email, if and when I hear from you wi just an email address I can forward all photos at that time, I am still in photo and discovery mode! Long Haul, Eli Shalem cell #
1-305-788-5992
Cost of move approx. 10,000, everyone needed part of payment , Assurance, the broker required credit card, then Eli required his, then driver had to have 3 postal money orders. I requested the broker get me a United moving company , he said he didn't know who it would be, but gave me his word it would be a good one. Lol.

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Do Not Use Them!!

I think of myself as a savvy New Yorker/consumer but I was suckered by these guys. It was an awful experience. I was taken in by Micheal (who other reviewers mention) who sounds trustworthy and on-top-of-it--but that's where it stops. And DO NOT THINK HE WILL EVER get on the phone after they take your first deposit and have the contract signed! I won't go into all the (horrid) details of this God-awful experience, but suffice to say that they are awful. I can't believe that I didn't do more research on this company before I went forward, but I didn't. And I PAID for it, literally. Big bait-and-switch company.. NO communication between parties.. and terribly RUDE. The lady that answers the phone is awful. They will not give you a real answer, they won't connect you to the representative that you spoke to earlier ( Where did "Micheal" go??), and they don't communicate with their employees and with the waiting clientsl. A disaster. They just delivered our items and after reading all the reviews, Im scared to open the boxes. On the surface.. it arrived on-time and without apparent damage-- but I looked in their (rental?) truck and it was a MESS. Broken boxes and items throw about the truck; scary! This company made the whole process of moving, which is a stressful situation in itself, THAT MUCH MORE STRESSFUL!! Do NOT use these guys!! I used "UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS" for my moves in New York City, and they were GREAT and totally honest! I would have definitely used them but our move from Florida-NYC was too small a job and not their region. If you are in New York City area, USE "UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS" AND NOT THESE RIP-OFF ARTISTS!

Long Haul Van Lines is officially in contempt of court.

It is Kimberly Luse again, writing to update everyone on the nearly two year struggle I've now had with Long Haul Van Lines. Last month I reported that I successfully sued, and won my case in small claims court in Downey County, CA. The court awarded me the maximum amount possible there, $10,000.00 plus court costs. It was entered on January 20th and as of this date Eli Shalem has refused to respond to me whatsoever, via phone calls or emails. He is now officially in contempt of court for not following the order of the judge. I now will be filing an additional suit that will take both of us back to CA to stand before the judge so he can explain his lack of compliance. I will keep everyone updated. In the meantime, do not, under any circumstance retain this company. It is the equivalent of paying someone to rob you of every possession you entrust to them. Kimberly Luse.

Beware,horrible.

They quote you one price and when the load your stuff they pop you with extra charges. Then before they unload your stuff they pop you with more charges. I marked glass in big letters on my boxes so the delivery people would know these items are glass when the boxes were delivered it looked like they had been kicked all the way from Atlanta. Broken items pieces missing etc.. Oh one more thing one of the delivery people got aggressive with me and wanted to fight. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN.

Beware Never Use These Guys.

This was the worst experience I have ever had moving the employees. They were very aggressive to me - the front desk office staff, my landlord and the security guard. I actually had to get one of the movers escorted out of my building. There were so many hidden fees. It was the worst moving experience I have ever had and I promise you, you do not want to use these guys. They would not unload the stuff from the truck until all the hidden fees were paid in full. They were dressed like little hoodlums pants down to their knees as ghetto. So please I'm doing you a huge favor by writing this review.

Long-distance move from Florida to Tennessee

Horrible Experience.

My initial interaction with the company (April) was good. She was very nice and followed up..even giving me her personal number so I could call on Easter (that should have been a red flag..way too eager to get my business). She went over my inventory, giving me a pretty good estimate and gave me plenty of time to change the inventory if needed. That being said, once I paid my deposit, all communication stopped. There was never any mention from her about details like the pick up window, delivery time window, the insurance in case of damages, and any choices I had (and could have paid extra for). Contract was simply sent to me and I had to sign it and send the deposit. Pick up was supposed to be 20 July. At 8:00 a.m. the driver called and told me they'd be there by 2-3:30 p.m. At 5 I called the driver back since they still weren't there and he informed me he was 15 miles away and would be there shortly. At 7:30 they showed up. Once they got there the 3 guys kicked butt packing. They worked until I kicked them out at about 10 p.m. and came back at 8 a.m. the next morning..finishing up late that afternoon. They did a crappy job of writing what was on the inventory (merely listing 'box' as a description, for example), therefore it was pretty impossible to know what was in the boxes and where they came from/needed to go. I could not verify anything really, so when the guy stated that my inventory ended up being more that originally agreed to I didn't agree but they have you over a barrel. I ended up paying probably $700 more than agreed to and did NOT have more cubic feet..I guarantee. I ended up not shipping a few large items on my original inventory, so adding a few more boxes should have been a wash. As I said, they have your stuff so you really have no way of arguing. Delivery on my contract was supposed to be 25 July (a Saturday). I waited around all day and called the company multiple times with no answer. Apparently they do not work on the weekends and don't bother to answer phones either. First thing Monday morning the 27th I called them and they told me the contract says they have 20 days to deliver but usually it's much faster. They also said it would probably be 3 or 4 days from that point (without a firm date). Delivery driver texted me late on 29 July and said they should be there the following afternoon around 4 p.m. Around 2:30 they texted and said it would be around 5:30 or 6. They showed up around 9 p.m..with 2 guys, and were finished around 11:30 p.m. This was a week night and my husband had to get up for work at 3:45 a.m.  I live on a very hilly street and they did a horrible job of navigating the moving truck, messing up my neighbor's driveway and yard. At one point several of my items fell out of the back of the truck when they were maneuvering the truck with the back door open. It was immediately apparent that alot of glass was broken since there was broken glass on my front porch area, in my garage, and in my den on the floor. This was due to the packers, not the delivery guys. For example, one of the packers taped together 3 items: a beach chair, a wooden spice rack, and a big picture in a frame. These were not placed in a box and did not have padding around them..they were simply loose items taped together. Needless to say, the glass was shattered when it was put in my garage. Upon unpacking my boxes I found that the packers had put my 20 quart slow cooker loose on top of a large table saw, inside a dishpack box. The slow cooker was mangled/destroyed from moving around in transit. The packers put all my glass pans (like lasagna dishes) at the BOTTOM of a box..they were all destroyed and in a million pieces. The way they carelessly packed also destroyed several glass dishes, cups, one of my countertop canisters (an expensive set), several picture frames, a lamp, the lamp shade, a garbage can and a very expensive huge mirror (in a box of its own, but without padding). The fine print on their contract states that you get .60 per pound, and only if you can prove ownership of the items. Nobody has proof of ownership of things like this. And when the packers don't put details on their inventory, there's absolutely no proof that anything that was broken was actually on the truck. They are protected all the way around and I am screwed. As I said, they failed to tell me about the extra insurance I could have purchased that would give me full value of my items. At this point it's useless to even pursue anything with this company. IF I could provide proof, I would maybe get a couple dollars back. They talk a good game up front but that's it. They aren't professional and they are very sneaky in multiple ways. I am extremely disappointed in the whole experience and I would never, in a million years, use this company again and do not recommend them at all.

Long-distance move from Georgia to California

Worst Moving SCAM.

Sent detailed email for cross country move, with every single piece of furniture listed. Got low quote $2600, scheduled movers/packers. Day of: movers come, say "by human error" they must have forgotten to add ALL living room furniture so now quote is $5800. Turned them away, they yelled, and somehow we were robbed less than two hours later when we went to go get alternative moving stuff. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. When I looked them up on USDOT, they have had their licenses and insurance suspended over ten times since they have been open. Currently, it says they don't have insurance as of May 31st, 2015.
They refused to refund our $555 deposit, even though they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for our move. Working on getting lawsuit together.

Long-distance move from Florida to North Carolina

Move to north carolina.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!   On  my recent move to North Carolina, I used long haul van lines.  It was a TERRIBLE experience.   Moust of my items arrived broken or not at all and they made no effort to remedy the situation.  They scratched my floors, dropped boxes, five of my boxes never arrived.   Two other items that were missing were later found in their warehouse.  After about three weeks of my calling, they finally sent one item.. Of course it arrived broken.   The other item I was told was lost again and what they said was.. File a claim.   They do not call back and after many attempts to contact them, I have taken to writing this review.   Boxes were crushed or opened, turned upside down, and there were some items that wound up in different boxes.  DO NOT USE THEM!!  If I could give them no star, I would!

Wonderful experience with Long Haul Van Lans.  Everyone I was in contact with was professiol  and polite., especially  Michael Green,  No matter how many times I contacted him he was always available and professional.  I always had something to add and delete and was never an issue. Another way they showed to be professional is that always on time, and always returned calls. Long-distance move from Indiana to Florida

Avoid Long Haul Van Lines And Alliance Moving Services.

I hired Alliance Moving Services because they had a great rating with the BBB, but when the movers arrived, they were in a Budget rental truck and when they handed me the paperwork to fill out, the company was actually Long Haul Van Lines..strange. My items were picked up in Indiana on July 8th and I was told it could take up to ten business days to deliver to my location in Florida. The moving guy said my route was extremely common—they do this route all the time—and that delivery would be very quick. It is now July 29th—21 days since they picked up all of my and my children's posessions—and Ron from dispatch informs me that the moving truck IS STILL IN INDIANA. Basically everything I own has been sitting in said Budget rental truck for 21 days, in the heat, and is waiting for a flatbed truck to make its way to the midwest so that all of my things, plus whoever else's things can be loaded on the truck. At one point the lady who answers the phones at Long Haul Van Lines gave me a specific deliver date of Sunday, July 26th. I waited in my empty apartment with my kids ALL DAY and never received so much as a phone call to say that they weren't even close to arriving and that in fact my things haven't even left the state of origin. I have had to call probably 15 times between Monday morning and Wednesday morning with false promises of someone calling me back with information. Of course no one called me back..it took me calling back yet again before finally getting an answer. Do I now know when my things will arrive? Of course not. "Possibly next week sometime" was the response. But that is only an estimate, of course. Sort of like the "within 10 business days" estimate I originally got. So in the meantime, my sick kids and I will continue to sleep on the floor, wearing the same clothes everyday, in a completely empty apartment until the movers feel like delivering my things. Would I recommend either Alliance or Long Haul?..not even to my worst enemy.  .

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Worst moving experience EVER!!

I hate to say I had an extremely disappointing and EXPENSIVE experience with Long Haul on my move from Florida to New York! The sales representative and the movers themselves were courteous and efficient, BUT that is where it ends. The cost doubled from the estimate and the real problem was on delivery in New York. I gave Long Haul a good two weeks advanced notice of when I needed delivery and was assured that my furniture would be delivered on that date, possibly even the evening before.  I reconfirmed two days before and with that flew into the city from the Caribbean intending to get a hotel for possibly one night, should my furniture not arrive until the next day. Since I had the movers number I called  mid day to reconfirm and was told they were still in FLORIDA! Yes, my furniture was in New York, but they had the storage key and could not possibly deliver until the following week. I then called Long Haul and told them how unacceptable this was as I had taken time off from work for this move and had flights booked back on Sunday ( this was Wednesday) which meant 3 more nights in an extremely expensive New York hotel. Well, as you might have guessed Saturday came and went. I called about noon and was told the earliest they could get it to me was Sunday night, which meant another night in hotel and almost $1000 to cancel and re book flights for Monday. They did arrive on Sunday about 8 p.m. and we had to stay up all night to unpack. Some of the furniture was damaged.  To make a long story short, unless you have no time frame what so ever and unlimited funds I would strongly recommend you find a more reputable firm. I ended up paying 4 times the estimate, including side costs. The added  mental stress and aggravation made this one of the worst moving experiences ever!!

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Long Haul Van Lazy.

All over the web you'll see examples of how this company poorly treated its customers.  I unfortunately didn't bother to look as they were referred by a friend (who later apologized as she discovered first-hand what a terrible company they were). First - The pickup was fine, except that he ended up mislabeling what was being shipped (didn't figure this out until later).  Things went downhill from there. The company has a 7-21 business day window to deliver your things.  This 7-21 day window STARTS when you expect to be up there.  You WILL be waiting for your things for several weeks.  This in and of itself is fine, given I expected it after reading the contract.  What is unacceptable is being told that your things will be delivered on a Wednesday and then have that not happen.  Then to call and have it turn out it will be the following week.  Maybe.  Poor communication all around.  The left didn't know what the right was doing; promises on deliveries are made and then don't happen. When my things were finally delivered 2 weeks later, a box was missing and my furniture was damaged.  Okay -- that's fine, we'll just file for reimbursement.  No, you won't.  Be prepared to cough up receipts or proof of purchase for any item you're claiming or otherwise providing repair estimates (you won't be reimbursed for a repair estimate). Overall dissatisfied. At least they hauled all my stuff from the truck to the room.  .

Long-distance move from Florida to Connecticut

Very poor service.

Do not use this company! I was given a quote for packing and moving. In the end they wanted only cash-$500 more! Movers were very rude, late, on cell phones all day AND asked for a tip! My perfect furniture came with much damage, lost items still not recovered and broken furniture unable to be repaired. $2000 worth of damage and lost items. Was offered $67 for damage. The company had me file a claim with an outside company and would not take any responsibility. A year later I am still angry. I had to replace a desk as well as other items. I have moved locally as well as long distance and never had a problem. Very disgusted!

Grateful And Appreciative.

I had a very stressful situation due to a death in my family. I had to move their furniture out in less than three days. I spoke with April who was very kind and assured me that the process would go smooth. I really wasn't financially ready for this. April helped me cut corners and the guys literally saved me hundreds of dollars. They all had compassion and got me a hardship discount, which I thought was over and beyond what they had to do. God bless everyone at Long Haul.

Long-distance move from Illinois to Massachusetts

Very unprofessional approach and not recommended at all.

First the movers doubled the price when they arrived to pickup. No option but to say yes to their demands as I had to move that very day. And then for 20 days absolutely no information on when my stuff will arrive, etc. I have never imagined such unprofessional approach. I write this so that people know about them and don't fall for their false promises (they tend to give you initial quotes below market rates and promise quick delivery of stuff).

Long-distance move from Indiana to Michigan

My worst moving experience by far.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I don't know how these people sleep at night knowing how much they're swindling customers. I was upcharged over $1,000 when they movers came and that wasn't even the worst of it. They called the night before they were supposed to come saying they "just couldn't make it", the movers smoked in my garage while they were loading my stuff and left empty drink bottles and cigarette butts everywhere, the company held my stuff for a week and wouldn't tell me when it would be delivered, they finally called at 9:30 pm asking if they could deliver my things at 3 am the next morning and then didn't show up the next day until I called them at 9 am and woke them up (the driver literally said "oh, I'm sorry, I slept late.) When my stuff finally got to me, some of the boxes had clearly been opened and sifted through (lids were switched on some of my plastic containers), I had SEVERAL broken items, and everything smelled like cigarette smoke. I regret using this company and want to do everything I can to keep other people from making the same mistake.
