When I first Googled moving companies I was worried. Among 4 companies I chose Long distance. Lawrence the moving estimator was polite, professional and knew his job well. The guy was there from the estimate to the day of moving. The moving crew was excellent, quick and knowledgeable of what they were doing experienced. Ryan my moving coordinator played a vital role and was in touch from she took over even to the day after delivery. I was so satisfied that I had to courteously call them to thank them for an uneventful move, excellent, professional, reliable and affordable service. They are the BEST!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3300

My husband and I found out that we had ~2 weeks to relocate 1,400 miles away for his job. Panicked, I requested quotes from dozens of companies. LDRG came in at the cheapest. After a lengthy conversation with Matt in which I gave him a detailed inventory list and requested a guaranteed delivery window, he quoted me at $2,549. This was for 25 medium sized boxes and all of the furniture I told him we were bringing. Great! He said I would get a call 2 days before my things were to be picked up so that I could be given a 2 hour window of when to expect the movers to come.

That call never came. I frantically tried calling both their customer service line and Matt, afraid I had fallen for a scam. I left messages and couldn’t get ahold of anyone. An hour later Matt returned my call and said there had been a fire in the building and everyone was evacuated out of the office so no one could call me. Yeah, ok, sure.

One thing that I want to make clear is that when I first was contacted by LDRG, Matt stressed to me that they use their own guys and their own fleet of trucks and that they don’t subcontract out anything. This is a LIE. A flat out lie. The guys who packed the (rented Enterprise) truck and the guys who unloaded my stuff were both contracted out.

Anyway, so the guys who packed the truck were nice enough and efficient, but they did NOT clean up after themselves as I was told they would. They left dozens of rolls of tape behind, empty boxes they brought their moving supplies in, tons of plastic wrapping from their moving blankets.

They also informed me, after packing the truck, that my total cost would be $800 more than I agreed to because we apparently took up more space on the truck than they estimated. We decided at the last minute to leave several large items behind, so HOW could we have taken up MORE space with LESS stuff?! When I asked I was told that their computer “uses an equation to determine the volume needed, and it isn’t the most accurate equation.” SO WHY DO THEY USE IT?!?! I was and still am LIVID. I was told my options were to pay up or have them unload everything and pay a cancellation fee. I had a flight to catch the next morning and had no time to find new movers. They knew this. Scumbags.

But wait! There’s more!

When I set everything up with Matt and I paid extra for a guaranteed delivery window, he told me I would have my belongings between May 22-May 24. I told him my earliest possible delivery date was May 21 because that was the day we would be getting the keys to our new place.

On Saturday May 19 I got a call from the driver letting me know he was ready to deliver my stuff the next day. I told him that wasn’t possible because I wouldn’t even have access to our new apartment until Monday. He told me too bad, he was in town and couldn’t stay any longer and to call LDRG and take it up with them. What is the point of confirming an earliest possible delivery date if they try to deliver even earlier than that?!

Long Distance Relocation Group Inc. is a shady business. Don’t believe a word out of the representatives’ mouths. They are salesmen. They will and do lie. Do not trust them. Do not go with them.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3200

A close family friend recently made a long distance move using LDRGs. They came highly recommended, so I figured I would give them a call and get a free quote. I called in and when I got one of the salespeople on the phone, he gave me all of the information I needed. The price was very competitive. They informed me that if I needed to, I could have my personal belongings in storage for up to 30 days for free. They also let me know that they would do all of the packing for a nominal fee, and would disassemble and reassemble all of my furniture. This was a tall order but they got it done smoothly. They showed up on the guaranteed pick up date and got it all done in one shot. They kept in contact with us from start to finish and we were never left in the dark. Thank you so much LDRGs!

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $900

My job was relocating me from NYC to Massachusetts. I needed a mover last min. I did some research and found LDRGs. The moving coordinator was really helpful and went over every detail. He went into tips on packing and made sure I knew how to get everything done properly before they arrived. On moving day the crew and foreman were great. They took all my belongings and wrapped them up really well. They handled everything professionally and treated my items as if they were their own. I was very impressed with the professionalism. On delivery they placed everything in the right rooms and put everything back together. They cleaned up all the trash too. Excellent job LDRGs!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6900

DO NOT TRUST THE POSITIVE REVIEWS ON THIS MOVER!My husband got 3 bids for our move from PA to Michigan and went with Long Distance Relocation primarily because of the positive reviews he read. Do not believe them. After spending a couple of hours on the phone detailing items we would move we were quoted a price of around $6K. Before the final move, we decided to give away some of that furniture and eliminated an entertainment center and two patio chairs and a table. Nonetheless, the actual price on the day of the move shot up to $13K+ which finally backed down to $11.5K, still a total outrage compared to the estimate. Of course, no one is reachable via phone the day you move. Not only was the price a scam, but it turns out they load smaller trucks and ship to a warehouse where your furniture is then loaded onto a bigger moving van. Who wants their furniture handled twice? It made no sense. In the end, that plan somehow didn’t work out and they arrived in Michigan with two separate trucks, one of which was a small U-Haul. (I am not sure they even own a large moving van!!) The main scheduling office seemed to be unaware of logistics – telling us it would be 5 more days before our delivery – then we received a call from the truck driver saying he would deliver in 10 hours. Guys who unloaded were professional, guys who loaded originally did a lot of damage. Put screws right up through the top of our kitchen table. Just sloppy and inexperienced all around. It was a nightmare. Turns out that everything I worried about – selling one house, buying another, moving pets, etc. was a breeze compared to the sinking feeling and level of stress this mover gave us. It was like a gut punch to be treated to poorly.

I recently hired a broker from a big well know van line company to move my family from Mass to NJ. Thought I was all set and then Eric called and just wouldn't take "I went with another company" for an answer lol. He really educated me on what to look for and what to expect when moving. I gave him a chance and was very impressed with his presentation and offer. The way things were explained to me made me feel very comfortable.

I told him I wanted my husband involved and he understood and even offered his personal number for my husband to call him. (sorry for all the texts)

He made us aware of additional things that could cost money that no one else told us about. We researched what he told us and he was right! We canceled with the broker and accepted the offer from Eric the next day. As predicted by Eric, the broker was no longer mr nice guy once I asked for my money back.

He provided special packing for our tvs and our new mattress set. He also gave us options for packing up all of our boxes and glass table tops. This saved us so much time and work and even though we were nervous having strangers pack our stuff, everything went great. The guys that came really did a great job and were here all day wrapping and loading our stuff.

I would say the only issue was that I had to wait 3 days for delivery but to be fair Eric did tell me about this in advance. We just wanted it earlier. Moving isn't fun these guys helped make it a positive experience. Thanks Long Distance Relocation.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5400

I used long distance relocation group to move from NJ to Fl. They were not the lowest price but the service was worth it. My items all arrived in great condition wrapped well. The only issue I had was a statue that I boxed and didn’t bubble wrap so it broke. My stuff made it to me within 10 days and they delivered to my building even though there was a storm without issue.

Eric helped me set up everything and he was great. He took calls on saturday night while watching the fights at his friends house. Didn’t expect anyone to answer. He also followed up often to make sure things were going well. Great service Eric!!

Tommy helped me too when I needed proof of insurance for my building. I completely forgot to ask for that and they got it for me within 45 mins!

I have used other companies in the past but by far this was the best experience yet. I move every 2 years for business and it’s always a pain haha.

We were searching for local companies to hire after allied and united came and did a walkthrough of our house. After we got the cost for service from them my wife nearly fainted. We didn't want to go with a bad company but we figured there had to be some middle of the road solution. We came across Long Distance in that search for something a little more reasonable. They came out to the home and did a thorough inventory of all items and broke down apples to apples comparison between their estimates and allied. They were offering the same service and the price was a little bit closer to what we planned on. Overall I'm glad we chose them because the move was so smooth. The guys who actually moved the furniture were fantastic. I was more so impressed with their customer service than any of the guys over the phone. A1 service for sure.
