Hold furniture hostage.

I contracted with 24 Moving, who gave me a written estimate of $380 for three guys to load a truck and move my stuff 30 miles & $380 to unload the next morning. A truck saying they worked from LAPROM Moving arrived four hours late to load the truck. They loaded the truck with nothing stacked over six feet high ("we have plenty of space") and were unable to fit a bunch of my stuff. They charged me $535 and threatened to unload the truck if I did not pay. Then they said they would have to charge me even more - for a second truck and crew to move the remaining stuff. So. I rented a UHaul van and did the rest myself for $84.

They were scheduled to deliver between 10 and 11 am on Friday and arrived at 6 pm with only two guys and one was under the influence of something. The bullied and intimidated my girlfriend to get her to sign the paperwork. They threatened to take my stuff and hold is hostage. The office did not return any of a dozen phone calls. I had to search the truck. They tried to steal a TV and bike and air compressor saying it was not mine, but part of another move. Their estimate was for three hours - they took five hours - and tried to charge me $95 an hour when their truck says two guys & a truck for $75 an hour. They charged me for an hour for folding furniture pads. They ended up charging me $550 for the unload, over 40% more than the estimate. They damaged six pieces of wood furniture (dresser, head board, coffee table, etc.) I got some money back from the credit card company after 4+ months of fighting. These guys are criminals and bullies. Never, ever use 24 Moving or LaProm Moving!!

Moving company a/k/a demolition company.

God almighty. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. They sould not be in the moving business. They charged me more than 3 times the initial quote, for items not received, put my boxes in their used smelly boxes and charged me $22.00 per box, and labelled nothing. Disassembled what furniture I kept and did not reassemble it BROKE 90% of my items from bed frames to pictures off the frame. They just threw all the stuff in the garage, upside down, sideways, you name it. And the [EDIT] packed liquids horizontally with photos, and leaked. Nothing was packed properly. They used my dedicated boxes for dishes, glasses, kitchen ware, lamps records for whatever was in arms reach. Stuff that's been in my family for generations is rubble now. I took special care to pack what has survived from the 1800's to now, and they put those boxes on the bottom below heavy things even though with big pink paper and bold black print they were labelled fragile. Even large items, I had 3 scooters, one brand new 5 miles on it and they totally destroyed the rear end, fender, tail lamps. And there is nothing you can do. You have no rights. Don't be fooled. They did not listen to me or follow instructions. I complained to me credit card company, but since I gave them my card number I was told I authorized them to charge whatever they wanted. The BBB did nothing. They were just a window for me to correspond with the movers. I mailed the claim form with a dvd of photos of the damage and they will not respond. I have to go to court now. Don't ever use this company full of young, unprofessional kids from another country who do not know the value of older items. What a mess they made of my items. I've moved 11 times in my life and never, never had this much trouble with a moving company, and yes I did most of the packing myself. Send me contact info for a good attorney. I want to make sure they don't move anything ever again.

Stress Free Move.

I used Laprom Moving & Storage for my first move in ten years. I had always gone the route of renting in the past. But after looking at my overstuffed Californian 2 bedroom and having the faint memory of renting trucks and total chaos of past experience, I decided a professional mover was needed this time.

I got a quote from 5 different companies and chose Laprom Moving as they were recommended by a good friend and their price was good right in the middle of the other two.

I had a rather stressful time with my co op board amongst other things and had to postpone the move on short notice. Chuck was very understanding and we were able to set a date for the following week.

On move day I got a call from the crew saying that they were caught in a little traffic and would be running late. They arrived about 10 minutes after our scheduled time of 9am - Not Bad.

The movers themselves were pros, very approachable, knew what they were doing and eager to get the job done. Chuck, the head guy was especially helpful. They moved everything out quickly and there were no issues.

I am known for saying how it's next to impossible to get a good service in this city and you can pay top dollar and still get shoddy service or just a lack of customer appreciation. I am so happy that I found a moving company who have made this stressful and unpleasant task a little easier. I don't plan on repeating this anytime soon but will share my experience with everyone who needs a good mover.

Long-distance move from California to Texas

Moving my stuff from Ca. to Tx.

What a lying, cheating, unprofessional, dishonest, careless company. They should be listed under demolition companies not moving. I got 3 estimates and went with Laprom because of their BBB rating. What a rip off, the move should have cost $4,000 and they charged me $13,000., charged me a ton for unnecessary items-- for used boxes, and smelly ones too, they put my boxes in their boxes and labelled nothing, packed liquids horizontally, which leaked with photos. Charged me for items not received, like mattress covers. They don't follow instructions, handled my items carelessly and broke 80% of my items, from bedframes to picture frames, and just threw my stuff in the garage upside down, sideways, anyway they pleased. I filed a complaint with my credit card company and that was a shocker to me informing me because I gave them my credit card I allowed and approved all subsequent charges. Then I filed a complaint with the BBB who did nothing. They dissassembled my furniture and did not reassemble it. I packed the family heirlooms in foam and styro and labelled those and other boxes "FRAGILE" in huge black ink on bright pink paper, and the labels were destroyed as well as some items. Things that have been in my family since the 1800's and in mint condition and made it through earthquakes, floods, and fires in tact and moved more than 15 times are now rubble. These guys are horrible. I had 3 scooters, one brand new with 5 miles on it and they detroyed the rear end, and damaged the other 2. I filed a claim for the damages (certified mail) and sent pictures and they have not responded. Court is now the only option remaining. DON'T USE THESE GUYS. Chuck was competent on the phone but the [EDIT] who showed up were not. Young 20 year olds who barely learned English and had no idea of the value of older items. I'm just devastated. I could not find things for almost a year.

Laprom is a Scam Moving Company.

This company gave a very low rate of $288 to move 2 beds, a treadmill, a large TV and toys 11 miles. They charged my 75 year old father $1,956 they charged over $1,000 to bubble wrap two items. They should be shut down. I have put a complaint in with the better business bureau and have started legal action against this scam of a company. Please do not use this company. The drivers are in on the bogus scam. They will take your money. I will make it my life work to get the word out about how this company steals from good hard working people. When you call to speak with an owner, they just ignore your calls.

Terrible Movers---overcharged!

Laprom movers gave me a quote based on what I told them they would be moving.   This was a king size bed and a few pieces of bedroom furniture, a wall unit, couches, table and chairs and some boxes.   They told me it would cost around $400.  They showed up 1 hour late and spent a lot of time (about 2 hours) standing around looking at each other and talking about how tired they were from the move they did earlier that day.  I spent a full hour running up and down my stairs bringing stuff to them at their truck.  They dropped some stuff off the ramp and broke 2 boxes.  Also, their wardrobe boxes were overused and collapsing. This whole move took them 7 hours and they charged us over $900.  I called them and asked them to "finish the job" as they left  items in our home.  They said they would do it for a "discounted rate" discounting $10 per hour.  They would not listen to me or work with me on this. These movers to not give valid quotes.  They take advantage of the "hourly rate".  Do NOT use them!!   C.  Allen.

Mover rip off- very slick!

This moving company "estimated" that it would take 3 hours and cost $450. to move us - after my wife gave them exhaustive details of our household size - rooms, beds, couches, pieces, etc. We had to move out today, because our lease ended. Maids and carpet cleaners were scheduled to follow the move, and an inspection by the landlady. Theyshowed up 2 hours late, without any calls or explanations and presented me with a stack of documents to sign before theywould commence work. many of the documents were for the final delivery and contemplated a pre-acceptance of their service. The very slick foreman had all the answers of why this was ok and "normal". I noticed that they would not unload our furniture without full payment. They seemed very anxious to "wrap" and "crate" just about every piece of furniture - despite the fact that we had meticulously bubble-wrapped our valuables. I caught them wrapping cheap fiberboard bookcases that cost about $30. at K-mart. I later learned that this useless "wrap" cost me more than buying the bookshelves. We had spent days bubble-wrapping and protecting our valuable pieces to keep fromhaving movers waste time doing this. Their 'wrapping' consisted of stretching big pieces of ultra-thin plastic around everything. These plastic rolls are for sale in all moving places for around $20 a roll. When I got the final accounting, I saw that each piece they wrapped cost me around $50. - and this thin plastic protects nothing. The 'crates' they built were pieces of cardboard that were taped around pieces of glass, frames etc. They came at $10. per piece of cardboard. So, apiece of glass might have 6 pieces of cardboard around it at $10 each - or $60. I saw one that cost me $120 to 'wrap'. The final bill for these 'extras' was about $1800 (!). By the time they had wrapped everything that we had already wrapped, they managed to spend 11 hours on a move they had estimated would be 3 hours. Another trick was that they said it would be one load to the storage unit. Of course, the truck was full at 4pm with only a few items left- so that meant another load and another 2-3 hours. The final bill was close to $3,000. more than 6 times higher than the $450. 'estimate'. Another trick they had was that at 1pm they said that they were not allowed to break for lunch - but if I would buy them lunch they would eat on the job. So I bought them all lunch - and they took a nice break. I paid for both lunch and the time they did not work. At 7pm, I negotiated - in front of the storage unit where they would not unload without satisfactory payment. They quickly cutthe bill down a few hundred dollars so that they could all get cash tips. And by the way- they damaged some items they had 'wrapped'and managed to ding up the walls of my house - and made no compensation to me. Once I realized the scam (way too late), they stopped their wrapping a and crating and concentrated on MOVING. If I hadn't called them on it- this would have been a 2-day exercise and they would probably have hit $5,000.

Do Not Use This Company!

This company is the worst. They were very late, when I called their dispatch my call was sent to an answering service and I was told no one worked on the weekend? Wonder why they scheduled my move for the weekend if no one is at work.

They questioned every item they had to pack to delay the time. Their web site advertised a 5% discount for cash. But in the end when I brought this up the driver said “it’s not in the paper work” well was on the website. So he called “his supervisor” of whom I had already been told was not at work and could not be contacted. OK my super said I can give you 3%! The drug big pieces even thought they had dollies and carts.I was quoted $275 for 4 hours of work; I got 5 hours and paid $480 with a 5% cash discount amazing how one extra hour almost doubled the cost.

I was assured that I would know the driver and load crew as they would be in uniform from the company, this was not the case. Just a very bad experience all together.

Worst moving experience ever!

I have moved 8 times in the last 4 years due to military service and this was the worst moving experience I have ever had. I had the move scheduled for saturday morning at 9. I arrived at my storage unit without a phone call or e-mail of their expected delay/schedule change. After I called the dispatching office, I talked to Michael who said the move had been pushed to the afternoon because I did not respond to the e-mail and did not answer the phone call (which I never received). Michael told me they wouldn't be able to move my goods until 1230/1 o'clock. I waited at the storage unit until the afternoon. at 1230 I called back and Michael told me the movers should have called me. Michael then told me he would see what the delay was and he would call me back (which never happened). At the end of the day, I waited for 7 hours and had called 12 times without a single call back. Michael eventually started answering the phone and placing the phone on the desk, where I could hear the background noise. I was eventually placed on hold several times, waiting upwards to an hour on hold. When I called later in the week to tell them how incredibly poor Michael was at communicating, Eric (the manager) told me he would review the tapes and call me within the next couple days (which never happened). An absolutely terrible experience and after two weeks I still haven't heard back from them.

Awful Experience.

STAY AWAY!!..A mirror was lost during the move and we have received no response from the company on how to resolve the issue. I also feel there were unfair practices of supplies they required us to purchase in-order to move our belongings. These should have been mentioned up front. The quote we received stated the move would take 3 but the move actually took 6 hours. Worst customer service I have ever received.
