Long-distance move from British Columbia to Ontario

Storage/Move.

I had a great experience with this company. The crew arrived on time as scheduled on August 29, 2015. Mark and his crew were great, Sam was also very efficient. They worked hard and were in and out within hours.

When my stuff arrived to Toronto, ON (which was about 8-9 days later) I found out that my house fell through. The sellers had financial problems and we had to move on. We couldn't wait longer. Kingsway had offered storage although delivery was previously scheduled. No issues.

We finally took possession of our new home this month, October 2, 2015 and we accepted our delivery on October 3rd, 2015. Great service and happy to report that they do deliveries/pick ups on weekends (so much more convenient). Great service from the delivery crew. Hank was great and the crew was not complaining at all climbing those 3 steep flights of stairs. I asked them to lay blankets at the entrance which they did. We tipped the guys cause we had so much fun with them. They even helped my husband set up our bed.

Very few minor issues, nothing that is even worth a claim or a complaint. The office staff was great to deal with, and both David and Liz were fantastic.

Long-distance move from Alberta to British Columbia

Worse move I have ever had!

I would never use this company ever again, listen people, they contract it out to someone else,They came and packed and threw everything  together, even my clothes were stuffed into boxes, stuffed with towels, no wardrobe boxes, when I checked the house that evening, they had forgotten many cupboards, then while they were packing  I asked them to mark the boxes as to what was in them and was told that they don,t get paid for marking them, on top of having to fill my van with the things they forgot they had their boss pick them up before finishing and when they delivered to my new home in BC , they broke a lot of my furniture, filing cabinets etc. Now to top it off as I settled in my place, there was many I many things stolen, I could easy say without a word of a lie there was at least $1,000 dollars of my things stolen and no one ever checked a list of my items as you could,t read it. then they tell me that I was not insured enough and I ended up with a cheque for $ 250.00  My blender alone was more money than that and my leather office chair disappeared . Please do not use this moving company, they are out of toronto and Maya is never in her office to answer your complaints. pleas do not let these things happen to you as now I am moving back to Alberta and I am trying Allied Van Lines!

Long-distance move from Ontario to British Columbia

Worst Experience EVER!

Everything is wrong with this company. From my in tial pick up date to shipping date to delivery estimate was incorrect. Lit's of hidden fees. They do not work with your schedule in regards to drop off. Must be available when they say and they gave me a 10 hr window on a day I had to work. Trace in "management" screamed at me on the phone to the point of tears. It's seriously the worst customer service ever. I don't understand how they are still in business. Tried to get ahold of owner and he's no where to be found. It's disgusting how the treat people. Price just kept going higher and justified with unreasonable explanations. Ridiculous. Please do not use. I am not one to write reviews but I don't want anyone to experience this.

Long-distance move from Alberta to Ontario

Scam Moving Company.

SHAM MOVERS OUTTO SCAM EVERY CUSTOMER THEY SNAG THROUGH THEIR FALSE PROMISES!! KEEP AWAY FROM MAYA BLOOM (OWNER), DAVID GREEN, LIZ, MICHELLE & TRACY!
The staff at Kingsway misleeds with false promises, fails to disclose material facts and obscures relevant information essential to the shipping process. The company failed to provide the necessary assistance and support they were responsible for and failed to honour promises made when we engaged their services. They blatantly made unauthorized changes to our moving contract and refused to correct billing errors but threatened us with even higher cost if payment ($4500) was not paid immediately upon delivery. Upon delivery, almost every item in our shipment were either broken or damaged as they failed to take measures to reduce the risk of loss/damage during the shipping process as their loading crew is untrained, rude and totally incompetent in the use of proper equipment during the shipping process. The office staff use intimidation tactics and threatened to hold our household possessions for ransom on the day our shipment arrived; use unethical business practices as indicated by the misrepresentations made to us directly and by omitting material facts which resulted in unnecessary delays and distress. Maya (owner) and her staff refuse to take responsibility for the abysmal level of services delivered but continue to abuse and defraud customers using unethical business practices. We were continually subjected to contradictory and conflicting misrepresentations and even blatant lies when we engaged KVL's moving services. Do not engage Kingsway as they will cheat, lie and dupe customers anyway they can to benefit their pockets without the least concern for customers' welfare.

Long-distance move from Ontario to Nova Scotia

Kingway--do not use.

We moved in July. Movers were rude and careless. Broke the door on house. Inappropriate language. Left their garbage laying around.
Due to renovations in new house I was unable to unpack everything. Now as I am emptying boxes I have found so many broken items and things missing. I wonder what Kingsway does with the items they forget to deliver. Do the employees benefit? Or does the company.
many boxes were flipped upside down. Many of the tote boxes I purchased were broken. Snow shovels not delivered. Just great to find out when the snow fell.
This company should be shut down. Wondering when other people items on truck at same time if they pad the weight.

International move from , ON to , CA

Worst movers ever.

I don't even want to give this company one star!! Worst experience in my life
First they were wrong with a weight!! And it took them over a month to re weight my stuff which it was over 1000$ difference between the first weight and second one!! And I'm pretty sure they still give me a wrong weight
Second they were a month late, and they don't care if u are sleeping on a floor or anything, they need to fill up their truck to move.
At last everything was broken drawer, bar, dining table, chairs, and most of the dishes
I don't know how they carry stuff that all the boxes had holes in them
And some stuff were missing half of my bed and my other table
I called them to complain they said they will send me a form to fill and they will give me some cents per pound !! I'm not going to bother myself to fill that form for 20$
and by the way they wants the money before they give u ur stuff bc they know everything is broken or gone
At first they told me one bedroom worth of stuff will be 2000 to 3000 when they took they price change to 6000,7000
Be careful with this company
Do not go with them.

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Saskatchewan

Mediocre moving company.

After reading all of the reviews on here and seeing that about half of them were good and since they had given me the best quote, I decided to go with Kingsway and hope for the best. Of course I had read all of the bad reviews as well and factored in that I may end up paying more than I expected to. Before pickup I had thoroughly bubble and shrink wrapped our belongings as I didn’t trust that they would be treated with a whole lot of respect. In the end I didn’t fare as badly as some of the people on here giving them one or two stars and while my overall experience was OK, and Kingsway did do a few things right, make no mistake about it folks, these guys are pure amateurs. The only thing they’re pros at is taking more of your money.

The movers did arrive pretty much on time which we were thankful for, however these clowns decided to back their truck up over the green space at the back of our apartment without permission. Fortunately, the ground was dry and there was no damage or tire marks. Had there been, we would have been held responsible and would have incurred the cost of the damage. After they had left I looked at the almost illegible inventory sheet they had scribbled on. They had listed every item as already damaged. Big red flag right there folks, look out for that one.

As well as thoroughly wrapping everything we knew the weight of every item that went into the truck. In total we had just under 1300 Lbs so when we got the call that our truck would be coming the following day and that our belongings had a total weight of 1900 Lbs we were a bit angry to say the least. I argued and told them what the weight was and they said they would look into it and get back to me. A while later I got another call and again they insisted that the weight was 1900 Lbs. They said that I could have it reweighed but that if the weight was still within 200 Lbs of the original weight I would incur another scaling fee of $250. Having read some of the horror stories on here I didn’t want to go down that road and told the girl on the phone(Cindy I think her name was) that I would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. She asked if I wouldn’t mind being put on hold for a few minutes. After a couple of minutes, she came back on the line and offered to take $135 off of the total price. At this point, figuring since they had added over a quarter ton of imaginary weight and that they were clearly just ripping me, I said OK but that I would probably still file a complaint with the BBB anyway and that she should inform her manager of this.

A while later I got an email from David Green which stated that they could only offer the discount of $135 if I didn’t submit a complaint as this was an offer to resolve the issue. I replied and said that I wouldn’t submit a complaint (knowing full well that I would submit a complaint to the BBB later anyway). Such a demand is ridiculous and shows what kind of company Kingsway really is. Customers have the right to complain and complain loudly. Consumers have the right to know exactly how Kingsway behave and how they treat their customers based on previous reviews and complaints so that they can make the right decisions, and if that affects Kingsway’s sales or hurts their business, then good. It means consumers are making better choices. The Better Business Bureau need to take another closer look at Kingsway because they definitely do not deserve an A+ rating. They’re a C- at best. After doing the numbers, I calculated that Kingsway overcharged(stole) roughly $400.

You have to weigh up the total cost against what some of the accredited BBB companies will charge you though. I worked it out that I probably paid about the same, maybe just very slightly less with Kingsway, and while getting done for a few hundred dollars is certainly frustrating, I would have paid probably the same amount with an accredited company. That being said though, if you asked me would I use Kingsway again, the answer is no. Would I recommend them to anyone, no. The cheaper prices they offer to deliver your goods just aren’t realistic. You’d be better off going with an accredited company because while they do quote you a higher price, you’re not going to save with Kingsway once they’ve added their imaginary weight to your load, plus with accredited companies you know you’re getting better service and you won’t have to worry about being ripped off, or having your belongings damaged or stolen. That brings me to my last point, thankfully none of my items were stolen, but I’m more thankful that I put tons of bubble and shrink wrap on everything as the wrap suffered a lot of wear and tear which I’m sure would have ended up as dents in my furniture had it not been there. A small tear on the bottom of my mattress and some minor scratches were about as bad as it got.

In closing, if you’ve read all of the reviews on here and still want to take your chances with Kingsway, then you know you’ve got about a 50% chance or more of things going horribly wrong. I feel I got off lightly compared to some of the unfortunate people who posted before me. My stuff was picked up on time and delivered only 1 day late with almost zero damage, however I was done for about $400 which is not the end of the world, not going to break the bank but it’s still a greasy move on their part all the same.

Long-distance move from Alberta to Nova Scotia

Move Alberta to Nova Scotia.

The worst company I have ever moved with, double the price quoted ++, the worst communication from the company, basically lying about timelines and you can do nothing about it.. The movers they had in cold lake were tearing up the floors by means of spinning the coach on end with no protection. I was lied to by Lis the whole time or put off or they would not answer the phone. When my stuff finally arrived it was not covered and completely damaged, falling down in the truck, I called again and they sent me a paper for damage, took pictures of all the damage and they gave me $50.00 or something stupid, I moved all over Canada and the world, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY,,,,,.

Long-distance move from Calgary, AB to Regina, SK

Do not take responsibility for their mistakes.

A few years ago I booked Kingsway to move some used furniture from Calgary to Regina. I cancelled the order and booked a different company. Kingsway forgot to cancel the order and then the confusion began. The pick up contact without realizing it was receiving instructions from 2 different moving companies. The moving company was scheduled for 9 am. Kingsway called and said they would be late. The pick up contact had to change his schedule and went to work and the moving company I selected went to the house at 9 and there was no one there - so they had to go for a break. I had gone to great lengths to make it painless as the man I was buying from was a busy oil executive. I called Kingsway and asked for an apology and a small credit for the inconveniences. I was thinking $100 or so. Liz McClane took the call and was hard and rude and said "you mean you want me to give you money for a move we did not do??". She was a typical hard fast talker. I never did get an apology and the move could have been a complete disaster. They are a sketchy and rough group is all I can surmise. If not, Ms McClane, a senior staff member should be fired.
