Thank u.

I am extremely happy with these guys they have helped me move twice and both times have run smoothly and the guys have been really clear on communication and times, Packing up was quick and unobtrusive and everything was supremely well packed up - even each bottle of wine was individually wrapped. The price was not the cheapest (wouldn't trust the cheaper companies) and not the most expensive, just reassuringly in the middle.

Long-distance move from Ontario to Alberta

Stay far from kingsway van lines-Terrible Movers.

Last July,  I searched for a moving company to ship my items from Ontario to Alberta. I moved the same items a year before, and the weight was nearly 1,100 Ib. I was approached by  Kingsway Van Lines  through a moving the agency (Move it.ca). Three other companies also offered the move for similar rate. I decided to go with Kingsway,  as they had more flexible pick up dates. It was the worst decision I ever made in my life !!.  Over the past 25 years or so, I have been moving across Canada and this was the worst move I ever had. I do not recommend Kingsway Van Lines to any person. They should be banned to offer moving service to the public.        The dilemma is summarized as follow;     - Kingsway provided an estimate (1000 Ib) by phone followed by a confirmation E-mail.       - My shipment was loaded and all items were labelled in a. packing list (with no Company logo or address).   - Kingsway stores the shipment at their warehouse in Toronto and evaluate its content very carefully.     - They  provided estimated delivery date (5-10 days) and sent me a fake scaling ticket showing double the actual weight (2,340 Ib).     - I requested to re-scale the shipment. They refused  and pretended they are busy and no time for that.       - They abuse the situation and bargain the weight. The search the shipment very carefully and base their fees  accordingly.   - It took me about 10 weeks to settle the matter and deliver the shipment to my destination.  Unfortunately by that time I purchased most of the furniture I shipped !! and the losses was significant     - The shipment was delivered with missing items and damaged content. Kingsway claimed that they are not responsible for damages or losses.   Based on my experience with Kingsway, I advise everyone not to trust this mover by any mean. Their service is based on lies, frauds, and unethical attitude.

These guys suck !!

I have just been reading some of the other reviews and have to agree with them that this is the worst moving company that I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. They did not show up when they said they were going to be there and I had to keep phoning them to find out when they were coming. We had a small office move that needed to be done before month end and the only way it actually happened was through my persistence to light a fire under their [EDIT]! Their Senior Operations Manager in Ontario was a complete incompetent to deal with and would not return any of my calls. The best part was when the movers/morons took two additional office chairs with them on there way out the door that did not belong to us. They were sitting out in the entry way of the office complex that they had to walk through to get outside. When I inquired with their Senior Operations Manager about there return to the building owner, she replied that it would cost $650 to have them sent back!! Unbelievable!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from these idiots.

Rates are reasonable.

I was really impressed with the level of service I received from Liz she actually took the time to help out and explain everything. My husband was already in BC and myself and my 3 kids were left to deal with the move on our own.
She was great to deal with and answered all of our emails and questions (both me and my husband were emailing her..lol). She was patient and great to deal with - she herself deserves a 5 START.
As for the move iteslf, everything went ok - no major delays or damages, some very minor stuff. The staff were great and the price at the end was reasonable.

CROOKS-SHOULD BE IN JAIL also own the following CAVEAT!

Please warm the public of this horrific moving company, Troy Transportation, also own Atlanta Van Lines, Kingsway Van Lines, Armour Van Lines, Trilliums Moving and Storage ..They overcharge the clients for weight, returns their belongings smashed or destroyed. Change the name of the business only to avoid any consequences. Take no accountability and make a living at conducting business this way. They do not return calls to the BBB. Go to Troy Transportation Moving and Storage to read their reviews. They delivered our belongings with close to $20,000 in damages not to mention the overweight price they charged us and provided no proof of weight. They are not part of the Canadian Association of Movers! They should be in jail!!

Never Again.

My husband and I have moved 23 times.  This was the first time we  used a moving company.  We had so many broken items, damaged, dirty boxes it was unbelievable. They must have tossed them into the truck and into storage.   And the cost was astronomical!  When I complained about the cost, we were told that the original quote (2000lbs) was a normal estimate and that actual weight is usually higher.  We had no large appliances, only a two bedroom (small) house.  How do I get proof that our weight was actually 6000lbs?  We will NEVER use or recommend this company to anyone.

Shocking Review - stay away.

This is a shocking review. Im a cancer patient who needed to move from Toronto to London, Ont.  Moving is stressful and I had hoped for a reputable company  I couldn't have been more wrong.  While they did show up the actual move was almost thrown together by these men.  The leader brought his 16 year old son who I tipped $40 before I found out what was stolen. I have been using medicinal marijuana for my cancer and pain.  I had my medication neatly stored out of reach.  Somehow (??) it was packed on the truck with my personal purse. I didn't realize this until they left.  thinking it would be moved and unloaded at my new home. Somehow my purse contents were dumped in a box and all my medications completely gone. I called the company and explained the truth but they denied everything  no one returned calls and I'm now in the position to having to lay criminal charges. My cancer and treatments aren't geared for this kind of stress and it sickens me that Kingsway knows everything and simply lie and don't care? Im nearly 60 years old and I truly hope no one ever uses these disgusting people. I didn't ask for cancer and Kingsway makes me sicker.  .

Good price makes a good experience!

Pickup was prompt and efficient. Delivery was later than expected, make sure you read the fine print when you get your contract. Some of the boxes were pretty beat up, but no items were broken. One item was missing, a cheap toaster (it came in a small box, could have been overlooked). The final price was on par with the initial quote, which is the most important thing!

Baby grand piano.

After months of searching and interviewing moving companies ,I decided on Kingsway van lines , David green after 55emails has earned my respect and admiration ,he never got tired of answering no matter what hour or day of the week it was . the movers arrived promptly ,only thing that threw me off ,was no uniform and no logo on truck. Well as they say, don't judge the book  by its cover, Harprit, Sean and Jason were the most  polite,  hardworking , careful and professional movers I ever met. I am a very fussy and critical person expecting 100%, well I got it . The piano was handled with utmost care and love ! everything was packed and wrapped so well , no damage what so ever occurred once the truck arrived ahead of schedule in Alberta. I choose Kingsway because of their conduct. A big thanks to David, Harprit ,Sean and Jason . unfortunatly I don't know who unpacked in Alberta ,but my daughter said ,the piano was set up properly and nothing was damaged . I spent more money than planned, but I was not realistic in what it would cost, Kingsway van lines are worth every penny I spent thank you for a smooth and painless moving experience ! they moved over 2500 pounds , excellent job and priced right .

No deal, but still went above and beyond.

Sadly I didn't get a chance to work with Kingsway, but it wasn't from a lack of trying.  Dave was awesome, and if he isn't the owner, he deserves a raise.  My circumstances caused me to go with a company with a lower quote.  However if it wasn't for budget reasons I would've gladly went with Kingsway.  Regardless of the lower quote. As I said Dave went above and beyond to help me, and my circumstances.  He answered every email with the utmost respect, and timing.  It actually saddens me that I am unable to be a Kingsway customer.  I will keep their phone number, and email close at hand though, and will recommend them to everyone I know who is moving. If you want professional, fast, curteous, customer service, Kingsway is the company to call.  Dave knew he might not get my business, but he was still there for me every step of the way.  Next time I need to move, and know in advance.  I'll start saving the minute I know, just so I can use Dave and his crew. Thank you for all your hard work Dave.  It truly does break my heart that my budget controls this move.  As I said up top, if you aren't the owner than  you deserve a raise.  If you are the owner, then wow!  All your future customers are truly lucky to have you on thier moving job.  I even tried to borrow the extra $50 needed to bring Kingsway on board.  :-(  Thank you again for everything you did to try and help me and my situation.
Love and Peace

Moving Experience.

From reading other reviews, I see using Kingsway as a hit or miss (probably like most other moving companies).  I had done my research on many companies prior to choosing one to move my family across country, and found that Kingsway had a lot of great reviews. The best advice I could give,  is to make sure your move will NOT be contracted out to another company. Kingsway contracted my move out to another company that I had researched, and did not use for many reasons. No one ever came to inspect our house (nor did they tell us it would be contracted out), so on moving day, the movers showed up with a truck that was half the size than was needed. Due to a time crunch, we had opted to have the movers pack our house, including our valuable items, and from that experience I would never recommend anyone use this service. Wine glasses were packed on their side at the bottom of a large box, which of course were shattered, along with other dishes. Our TV was damaged, a dresser did not get emptied and fell apart during the move, antique items got damaged and no longer work, our computer desk was cracked, the legs on our couches did not get removed which caused the mounting locations to be damaged and are now holding the couch up loose, picture frames were scratched, and other miscellaneous items were scratched/dented. While the movers on both ends of the move were nice enough, there was a lot of damage done that could have been avoided if items were handled more carefully or packed properly.

Moving Gamble Paid Off.

I was wary moving my belongings across Canada because so many moving companies seem unreliable in terms of customer reviews.  After calling a few companies of interest, I was impressed with the upfront character and honesty of the salesperson for Kingsway Van Lines.  I voiced my concerns about potentially lost or damaged items, which were acknowledged and reasonably assuaged.  I decided to take a gamble and am very happy to say that it paid off.
The movers for both the pick up and the drop off were very prompt, friendly, and professional.  They were conscientious about my items as well as not damaging my properties.  I must admit that some of the boxes were in bad shape but fortunately I had well packed all of my items so the damage was minimal.  Larger items were generally unscathed aside from a few scuff marks here and there.  Most importantly, nothing was lost within the move.
Kingsway Van Lines was very quick to address my needs (I shipped two days after initially booking them), and had my items delivered on the date that I had specified prior to shipping.  There were not any hidden costs and the charges I did incurr were reasonable. I would strongly suggest using this company.  Aside from the "rounded" boxes and the scuff marks (on items that were not wrapped/protected), my experience with this company was highly satisfactory.

Good.

Earlier this year my Mother passed away and left me some furniture that I had to move from Quebec to Ontario quickly.  The pieces were of sentimental value to me.  And I was concerned with the moving company I chose to do the move.  After some on-line research I decided to go with Kingsway.  My sales agent was David Green.  He was extremely professional and he made my experience with Kingsway go very smoothly.  The pick-up and delivery times were just as specified and the movers were professional.  There was a discrepancy on my invoice and when I pointed it out, it was rectified, and I was refunded within days of my notification. I had a good moving experience with Kingsway and I would recommend them.

Excellent service!

Used Kingsway Van Lines for a move from the Toronto area to Calgary.
Kingsway was very professional throughout the move.  While a move during the winter, around Christmas time, the Customer Service Manager that we dealt with (Tracy) has a knack for putting a customer at ease.  She delivered on the promises that she made, which contributed to us feeling comfortable.
Kingway's quote was detailed.  They were not the cheapest or the most expensive, but the thought in their quote reflected their moving experience.
Their personnel were very professional and showed attention to detail (for example having runners and moving blankets on hand to protect the floors).  I appreciated this particularly, because my Ontario home sale closed on the day after the furniture was moved.  The skill with which they moved furniture was indicative of a significant amount of experience in this business.
Tracy kept us informed of the progress of the shipment and responded quickly when I told her that my family was anxious to receive our furniture in Calgary.
Personnel that Kingsway retained in Calgary again, were very efficient and hard workers.  The manner in which they moved my pool into the basement (with two 90 degree turns) without damaging the walls, was again indicative of significant skill and experience!
For an ~10,000 lb move, there was only 1 instance of breakage of a furniture item.  Again, Tracy explained the claim process and helped us through it.
Kingsway also arranged my vehicle move through a 3rd party supplier.  Again, coordination between the 3rd party, Kingsway and myself was flawless. The vehicle was received in Calgary on time with no damage.
I have no hesitation in recommending Kingsway and will use them again on future moves.

Long-distance move from Manitoba to Ontario

Stay Clear.

After a lot of internet review to determine the best mover to make my retirement move from Manitoba to Ontario I chose Kingsway. Most reviews were quite positive as of May 2014. When the truck showed up at my door in August, it was in a Troy Trucking Company van, the one company I was expressly avoiding due to its horrible ratings on line. I emailed my agent (she never answers or returns phone calls) who reassured me that they were just hiring the truck out of Winnipeg but that the men were Kingsway employees. The two guys they sent (should have been 3) were very good and worked hard on a stinking hot day. At the other end was where the surprise hit. Again, a Troy truck shows up (3 days late, and only then after a lot of telephone work) and start unloading. After a number of items were offloaded, the driver brings me the sheets and tells me that we have a few thousand pounds more that we were quoted and way more than expected. When I quizzed him he showed me a "certified" weigh slip for 5 containers. Turns out the "certification' is done at Kingsway (or Troy..) I had seen many reports on Troy warning of this, but none at Kingsway. My bad. I should have packed up the truck and sent it to a weigh station. The driver told me that Kingsway owns Troy.. Not sure which one was lying to me. Of the 3 guys, two spoke English and only the driver could read. All my room labelling was wasted as we found boxes anywhere in the house. Lots of breakage and missing a few items such as a ladder, but on the plus side I gained someone else's boot rack.. Oh yes, and those sheets the loading guys carefully fill out? Throw them away because the guys at the other end don't bother to check them off at unloading so you don't know how many pieces are missing. So in the end the move cost me about 25% more than quoted and expected and a few hundred dollars in breakage and loss. I guess I could have applied for their "insurance", but with a $375 deductible and a per pound of claim rate, it was not worth the bother. On the plus side again, the salesperson was very nice, until she had your business and then went incommunicado. When they over charged me their outrageous price for a wardrobe, she reduced it and when they tried to charge me a "Dispatch Fee" of $200 that we had not agreed to she waived it. Oh and the 3% they charge for MasterCard is not a legitimate charge according to MasterCard, and they are investigating. I have yet to hear and don't expect a refund, but it is nice to know that Kingsway takes every opportunity to screw you. They are very thorough. BOTTOM LINE if you make the mistake of choosing Kingsway.. Meet the truck at a weigh station on the way in and check it on the way out. That way you will only be overcharged for the weight of the fuel in their tanks.

Move from Edmonton to Van.

I hired Kings way Van Lines for move from Edmonton to Vancouver in September 2014. I researched a bunch of options, online, and emailed with their seemingly competent rep Liz, many times before committing to the company.   I was promised a 6 day delivery time and quoted about $1400 for a small move. 6 days after they picked up my goods, no phone call. So I called the office, no answer. I left a voice mail. And so this went for a few days. I finally get someone on the line and ask where my things are. They don't know. They'll call dispatch. 3 days later.. they still don't know. Fast forward to 2 weeks after my stuff has left Edmonton. I call, they've found the truck. Can they deliver it? No. It's not in Vancouver yet. Ugh.    They do have a quote for me tho! And it's about 3900lbs. So should be about $4000. WHAT?? So I question the bill. No one can give me an answer as to why. "It's by weight of your goods" they say. I tell them repeatedly, there is no way that my stuff weighs more than 2000 lbs. The price should not exceed around $1500.    More days go by..So they weight it again. Oh whoops, its actually 3600 lbs. Right.. Knowing it is not anywhere close to that weight, I advise them I will find a way to weigh the goods myself, if need be, it's wrong.    They finally offer to have me go to a warehouse, where my things are now located. And they are not going to deliver until I pay the bill. I watch some workers put a crate, holding my goods, on a scale. It comes out to around 2000 lbs. MAGICAL!! When they're being watched, my items lose half their weight?? I must learn how that happens!! The bill was then corrected the proper weight.   Gee. Long story but a ton learned in the process. I finally got my things delivered. My coffee table was smashed in half, many boxes were crushed. Anything with movers wrap on it had half the wrap pulled off and ripped. Many items have sizable dings, scratches and dents. I actually had someone elses bed slats and curtain rod mixed in with my stuff as well. The delivery guys would not give me a copy of the contract. I called the office a few times and no one returned my call. I asked for the manager's manager, who was never in office and never returned my calls either.    NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. They are outright liars and con artists. So long as they get your money, they don't care what happened to your things or how long it takes for you to get them. HORRIBLE experience and I tell everyone I know to never use them.

Long-distance move from Ontario to New Brunswick

Here is why this company has Good / Bad reviews.

You may look at the range of reviews here and wonder why some are glowing and others condemn the quality of service. The answer is that Kingsway merely acts as a broker and, as far as I can tell, does not take any responsibility for the movers they sub-contract the work to. I have worked in real estate for many years and,in the past, had clients who used Kingsway with positive results. It certainly seems like things have changed. I helped a client arrange a move from Toronto to Moncton last summer and Kingsway provided the worst service I have seen in over 25 years. The 3 movers who showed up in a no-name truck did so 3 hours beyond the 11 am - 1 pm promised pick up. When contacted about the delay, Kingsway at first said they would be there in 20 minutes and then an hour later said they couldn't contact the driver. This meant that they only had 2 hours before the elevator had to go off service at 6 pm. They rushed the move, damaged walls and furniture and then claimed it was all there in the first place. When delivered, furniture that was less than 6 months old was broken, had split seams and was chipped. The answer from Kingsway was that none of this was their responsibility but they offered a laughable $75 as compensation.
So if you contract this company to move your goods be aware that you may get the conscientious sub-contractor who takes care of your things but you may also get the "we don't care" types who will treat your furniture like items being taken to the trash. Kingsway will act so apologetic and tell you to file a claim that they will then ignore until you call to follow up on. My advise, do you want the risk of ending up with torn, crushed, chipped and broken items when they arrive at your new home? Then don't use Kingsway.
And one last tip, if you use them they will give you an itemized list of everything they have loaded. They will do this at the end when they are running out the door and it will describe everything as "damaged". That is how honest they are. .

Moving.

STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND - Labour was great at both ends. Picked up on Friday 1 bedroom condo - was suppose to be delivered next day.  Actual delivery date six days later.  We were left without cloths, furniture, belongings.  When we called to find out where our truck was on Saturday we were told the truck broke down and our goods would be delivered the following Thursday and they would see what they could do to compensate us.  When we called on Monday to speak to the Operations Manger to say this was unacceptable they said they would see what they could do and call us back - they did not - when we tried to contact office again they would not take our calls. Price paid was more than double what was quoted. and there was no compensation for the six day delay.  Very poor customer service - when we asked to speak to someone else in the office (ie: owner) were told he is never in the office!.  When the delivery was finally made they had another delivery to a city close to ours.  From this we surmised the truck probably did not break down they just did not want to delivery our goods, the next day after pick up as promised, then go back to Toronto and have to delivery to a city close to ours five days later.  This would have been fine with us if they had just communicated this from the beginning.  We would have packed a change of cloths separately and brought them with us - instead we were stuck with the cloths we had on our backs until our goods were delivered. Don't be confused  when the truck shows up with Troy moving on the side, we had a quote from Troy as well and could not understand why they showed up - apparently Kingsway bought Troy trucks. Would never recommend Kingsway to ANYONE period.

Save yourself a hastle.

Quote was double upon arrival. Took 2 weeks to deliver. Horrible customer service. .tore up the lawn and trees trying to put an 18 wheeler where it obviously wouldn't fit. We're yelled at by the movers who were more concerned with their broken light which would cost no more then a dollar to replace. Stay away! The start of the process was great. The men who picked up the stuff we're very nice and efficient and used an appropriate sized truck.the woman Tracy at reception was also great. I went with this company as they had the best rate. 2 weeks after when it came to delivery things took a in for the worst. The quote changed by double and since the truck the size of a small business could not park close enough to the storage unit we were using we were then charged more money. Then men were rude and I have yet to experience this kind of service in my life!

Good Customer Relations.

This is a great company to deal with.  I had a few issues with the move and had to cross my fingers that these people would be fair and reasonable.  (Issues involved a delay, partly due to a misunderstanding on my part plus the timing of the move, which took place over the Christmas holidays, and an item that was accidentally damaged by the local crew delivering my stuff).  Both Liz McLean and Maya Bloom were extremely responsive and have a lot of integrity -- this is the most important thing to me in working with any business.  I would say that the service is just as good as any other mover out there, but most importantly, these are very good people who care about their customers and will treat you well.  For this reason I give them 5 stars.

Kingsway van lines moving company.

This is the worst experience I have ever had. kingsway van lines quoted my move at 1800 dollars and when the move was over the grand total was 4700 dollars. I did not find out about the price hike until they had my belongings and would not relinquish them until I paid. It was really extortion and they should be shut down. I was missing 15 items and 13 were damaged. They also will only pick up and deliver on their schedule and will charge you for extra days if you can accommodate that schedule. Their customer service is as pathetic as their work and they should be shut down. I basically paid them to vandalize my belongings and steal whatever they felt like. don't expect anything when you try to claim your lost or damaged items either, they hide behind the small print in their contracts. This company is disgusting  and incompetent. the fact that these crooks can extort people like this in Canada is rediculous. Dishonest to the core!

Beware! You will be quoted a reasonable price based on a list of inventory you send in which is apparently based on a weight chart. The weight will be drastically more when they apparently weigh the shipment after they take your stuff away. There is no proof of this weight. Expect to pay at least three times the quote. You will be assured that your belongings will be protected with ample moving blankets, etc. You will then be told to pay ($730 for us) additional money for bubble wrapping, etc. You will be told not to worry about damage because there is a good claims process if it does happen, but that damage is unlikely because of the care and process they use. You will be told of the cost for insurance, but that it isn't necessary. You will be assured that storage will be climate controlled and given a reasonable storage fee, which will also increase by the weight they assign after taking your furniture away. Then you will see the moisture damage on wood finishes when you get your stuff back. Worst of all, your furniture will come back to you badly damaged. Even their own subcontract guys couldn't believe the extent of the damage on the truck upon arriving at our place. You will even be missing some items completely. You will use the claim process. They will stall and not even reply until you hound them, and finally offer you an unreasonable amount based on weight ($75.00 in our case for over $3000.00 worth of damages and stolen items). They wont send an adjuster or look at photos. They will not take responsibility for missing or stolen items either.  After having moved five times over 25 years, this was the most expensive and disappointing move of all, and trying to deal with them after they have your money (over $8,400.00 in our case) they could care less. They are careless! Don't you be.       .

Dishonest Movers! Weight and prices doubled btw pickup and delivery.

Dishonest movers! Between pick-up and delivery, the weight of our stuff magically doubled(from 1000lbs to 1900lbs)! We weigh everything carefully (my wife works in shipping) and we get approximately 1000lbs of stuff we were moving from Montreal to Vancouver. We have never been told when the truck going to arrived, and when he arrived without notice our stuff weight was magically 1900lbs(plus charges we never heard of before delivery)! We called the head office that threatens us to charge us for making the movers waits, with also additional charges for a second delivery and a rescaling if we refused to pay! As they refuse to give us our stuff previous payment, we were completely hostages for them as they got all our belongings. We are sure of the weights of our stuff, they are completely dishonest and corrupted! Do not move with these thieves!

They changed our pickup date without notifying us and when we advised them that wouldn’t be possible due to our lease termination they sent a subcontractor. The movers were supposed to show up at 11am. They showed up 16 hours late at 3 a.m., woke up the entire apartment building by yelling in the staircase and did not leave till after 6 a.m. They also showed up with a truck that was ¾ full from a previous move and told us that if all our items did not fit in the truck it wasn’t their problem. We asked them for an approximate weight calculation and they said 4500 lbs. All our items and boxes were pre-weighed and we knew we had an approximate of 2500 lbs. Liz promised us that all items were scaled after being unloaded off the truck. We were quite surprised to receive an invoice stating that our shipment weighed 4800 lbs. We disputed it and were guaranteed that our items would be rescaled upon delivery with us present. Two weeks later we received an email saying our items were reweighed and the weight was 2600 lbs and they were “sorry” the scale was “defective.” This happened after several emails and phone calls going nowhere. Liz promised me that my Trek road bike valued at $1950 USD would be packaged and wrapped in the warehouse as I complained the movers simply through it into the truck like a sack of potatoes. The bike was never wrapped nor packaged. Upon delivery we were presented with extra charges for storage on the invoice. It took 3 months to get a refund. We never received a proper invoice. Several boxes were crushed. My bike frame was scratched. Dishes and serving ware were broken even if they were well bubble wrapped. Furniture was scratched even if it was wrapped in cellophane. Several boxes containing rollerblades, ice skates, shoes and books are missing. After several attempts of contacting them and going in circles we have simply given up dealing with them. They are unprofessional, rude and try to twist everything and blame the client. I would not recommend this moving company to anyone. When we moved our stuff out of storage in Moncton and to our apartment in Montreal we rented a Uhaul, carefully loaded it and drove it the 1000km. It cost us $600 less than with Kingsway and was completely stress free. Avoid this company as you would avoid bed bugs and the plague!
