Kentucky Lake Moving and Storage

Recently we moved to Paducah KY from TN. I got several quotes, all about the same. The quote from KLMS was slightly lower but I noticed some bad reviews so I called to ask about the negative feedback. During a very candid conversation with Kyle, he explained that there was new ownership/management/crews, so we decided to give them our business. Overall I was very happy with the service, crew led by Gus and James was great. Nothing broken and the crew was very attentive. I would gladly recommend this company.

I had problems with the number of stars but I intended to give two stars. We had used this company for a smaller move a year or so before the larger move with far more furniture. The first time things went much better. That was the reason I chose them again. The Ryan that came to give an estimate, not the owner, was very nice and I felt comfortable with using them. They were scheduled for three to four days because of the size of the move. We moved from a 5000 sq ft. home we had lived in for twenty five years. The first day there were six guys who came and they arrived about nine. That was what we had expected. When they first came in one of the guys said he was in charge and wanted me to show him anything that was not going and tell me about what was being moved. I went through the house and gave him a lot of information about the pieces that stayed and which pieces were the most important as far as protection, etc. I didn't want anything damaged, but I had a few antiques that were special. No one seemed to actually be in charge that day because furniture was being grabbed and little effort was made to follow the instructions I had given to both Ryan and the man who said he was in charge. There were two young guys, the man who said he was in charge that was in his thirties, an Asian man who looked to be college aged and a man in his twenties that was in charge of loading the truck. They obviously were in a hurry to get it done and get home. I am disabled and couldn't keep an eye on all of this at the same time. I had another person helping and my husband was there for part of the move but we weren't out watching every piece being loaded. We also didn't know the normal procedure so we wouldn't have realized it was wrong. Later we found that the man loading had never done it on his own and they sent him to do this for a very large move with some very nice furniture. We discovered at the end that he made many mistakes in loading and many things were not padded so most of the furniture on that day was damaged, including the piece I told them was most important to me and needed special care. It was made around 1820 and had come from Holland. It is one of a kind and they didn't even attempt to keep it safe. The second day the guys showed up late, at around ten, and at about 12 they said they were going to work through lunch and leave early. They didn't do a great deal that day and the second truck they brought was not filled. They left before two. The third day they still had a great deal to pack and at the end of the day told me the truck was full and they would be unable to take our piano and some other things. I asked about another truck and was told that they couldn't provide another to move the remainder of our furniture and boxes. I had been told already it might take four trucks and as many as five days and then I had excuses from the workers about why they couldn't do that. One of the guys had to go out of town so they couldn't extend the move. When we let management know, they were very upset with the man who said he couldn't move all of our things and they did send another truck. We finally arrived at our new house and one man was waiting parked outside our house for several hours. He complained to us about that even though we had nothing to do with what happened. They did work hard that day to get everything unpacked and with only three guys most of the day they were better supervised by us and there were few problems. When I started looking at the furniture though I was seeing a great deal of damage. One armoire had been put on the truck wrong and a large egg sized area of the wood was damaged by metal that had rubbed against it the entire three hour trip. Some of the wood was even worn away. I showed the guy in charge that day what I saw at that time was damaged and I was very upset about the piece I told several people was special and to be handled carefully. It is the antique piece. It was damaged in more than one area and some damage isn't repairable. I was asked by the manager if I wanted to find someone or wanted them to. I initially wanted to find someone but due to my health I didn't get it done. I talked to Ryan several times and was assured insurance would cover everything but nothing ever came about. I should have been more determined and continued to pursue the matter but I wasn't physically or emotionally able to do anymore. We still are using the same furniture a year and a half later but I cringe when I see certain pieces. It broke my heart that a few things that were quite important to me were damaged only because of a lack of care and a company who didn't send someone to pack the truck who had experience. We are the ones left with damaged furniture after paying a great deal for the move.
