Long distance moving

It was horrible. Found out, company was a BROKER, for movers. You don't actually talk to movers & they don't tell you they are BROKERS. Given a price when I listed everything to move, but when movers arrived, they said their truck wasn't big enough & would cost an additional $2,500! This happened a few weeks earlier with another mover and we needed to move, so paid it. Were told when arriving at location, they would put some in storage if within 10 miles. When mover got there, there was an additional charge to take to storage. STAY AWAY FROM BROKERS. 25 boxes lost

Long-distance move from Mount Pleasant, MI to Endicott, NY

Move from Michigan to New York

I would strongly NOT recommend hiring this moving company. I have used 3 other relocation companies and have received 100x better service - no joke and for half the price I got charged through IMRG. When initially coordinating my move with a “senior moving coordinator”, I specifically stated I needed full packing service as I was living between two states and I would not have time to pack myself. The coordinator assured me that was considered in my quote and then proceeded to tell me they are the number one moving company and that they charge by weight vs cubic feet as other moving company do. They explained that cubic feet gets costly because it is based on the amount of space your belongings take up in the truck vs. how much your stuff weighs. When receiving my quote, I was asked for a thorough review of all my belongings and luckily, I used a prior moving company’s inventory sheet to ensure I gave them the correct information. I was GUARANTEED that my quote would NOT exceed the originally agreement unless the truck weighed more. They made you pay 1/3 of the quote up front to “hold” your price. Two days before initial pick up day, I received a phone call confirming the day and arrival time, when asking how long the movers would be present, they stated 3-4 hours. I questioned them because all my prior moves took a full day to pack and another full day to load. This is when I was told my quote did not cover full packing and that I was supposed to pack my own items. This lead to them having to change my pick up date (mind you I already booked and paid for flight to be back and took time off work). Additionally, I was given a 4-hour window for arrival time and was told I would receive a call the day before arrival to narrow down the 4-hour window to a 2-hour window. I did not receive a call the day before arrival and the movers showed up 2 hours outside of the originally 4-hour window. Upon arrival, they did a “visual” inventory and calculated an assumption of what the truck would weigh, which changed my original quote and they would NOT start work until I signed the contract and paid 2/3’s of the new quote. It took them almost 8 hours to pack my items which led to them leaving around midnight and then I had to drive 1.5 hours to the airport to catch my flight at 6am the next morning. Additionally, I found out that the company I PAID to move me hires another third party company to come pack an move my belongings and they tried to tack on a bunch of different charges/fees and when I went to pull up my quote (via electronically through my email), IMRG somehow “deactivated” my quote and it would not allow me to pull up my initial quote that I received. When signing off on the paperwork, I stated I wanted my stuff to arrive ASAP and the paperwork stated my specific move my items would arrive within 1-4 days. It took them 9 days for my stuff to arrive and I had several items damaged along the way. If you took the time to read this, please choose a moving company that takes the time to come physically/visually inspect your belongings and that does not make you pay until your stuff has arrived at the end destination! Additionally, make sure to ask if someone within their own company moves your belongings or if they hired a third party. If you have to pay a few extra hundred bucks, PAY IT because it will be worth your stress level and you are paying for customer service, which I did not receive and was continually told I “misunderstood” the coordinator (mind you I’m a very detailed person and took notes during every conversation I had with the IMRG representatives) and all they could say is that I misunderstood and I kept saying I’m not a rookie at this - it’s my 4th move! In the long run, my final cost of my relocation ended up doubling from my initial quote.

Long-distance move from Conway, AR to Pittsburgh, PA

Will not use them again

I got an initial estimate from a representative at IMRG. He was courteous and professional over the phone and assured me that I will not be disappointed with the service. He also told me that I will be working with him throughout the entire process and if I have any questions I can just call/email him.

I tried asking as many questions as possible over the phone to make sure I am not missing anything. The moving consultant assured me that there is nothing else to be aware of and everything is good to go. His goal was to help me move and get my things moved as quickly as possible. That sounded great over the phone. After a little back and forth and small changes to the number of furniture pieces we settled on the price.

They give you a binding estimate that lists terms and conditions as well as things you can expect during and after the delivery. What it does not list, however, is the fee amount for the date change. The clause just states that you will incur a fee if you change a pick-up date within 7 days of the originally scheduled pick-up date. As a person who was doing the long-distance move for the first time, I was unpleasantly surprised when I found out that I now have to pay additional $250 due to the change of circumstances. I tried asking them to waive it or if I could pay less than the original fee but they refused.

The other aspect of "working with the person you spoke to on the phone" is that you are not really working with the same person. Any emails you send will be just forwarded to other people and the consultant that assured you of a smooth experience and your satisfaction will simply not reply to you.

I ended up receiving the furniture 4 weeks after, opposite to 2-8 days I was promised originally. Half of the furniture arrived damaged, and the damage cost is already higher than the moving cost.

I would not recommend working with them and I will not be using them going forward. Overall experience was unpleasant and I am completely dissatisfied with their service. Communication with them was very difficult and not helpful.

Long-distance move from Cupertino, CA to Pflugerville, TX

Insane charge if you over the original estimation

IMRG charge super high like a robbing.

The original price is $5.8K and after the moving they changed the price to $11K(increase by 100%).

However, the additional vol & weight (increase by only 31%) I used in reality, is not actually doubled.

There is one item called "binding estimate" , which they charged $5000, without any explanation to me. What I know(after I google it) is "binding estimate" is IMRG's commission fee. I never see any company in any industry charge almost 50% commission fee, this is insane.

If you want to save your money, please leave this company away !!!!

Terrible company

Terrible moving company! Their drivers didn't show up for 3 day window. Didn't get a call from anyone as to why or what to do. Couldn't reach anyone by phone during those 3 days either. Had to tell them to send new drivers. They underestimated the amount of stuff i had then over charged me. A difference of over $900. Offered a useless $50 discount for all the trouble. The movers they hired packed up things well but it's been over a month since my stuff was supposed to be delivered but haven't gotten anything. Except the same line "we are working on it". Dont use this company they are terrible.

Long-distance move from Brooklyn, NY to Nashville, TN

POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES

July 16th I reached out to Interstate to book my move from Brooklyn to Nashville. Senior Moving Coordinator Mike Green made me feel like I was in the right place. I voiced my concerns to him and most importantly my budget. He told me I had nothing to worry about and Interstate would be a great option to move my personal belongings and small business. I felt comfortable enough to promptly send my deposit, specifically ½ of the quote received and signed my contract.

I was told next steps would include a phone call from Katherine the VP of Quality Assurance. Katherine immediately tripled my invoice knowing I was already bound to a contract.

Moving day arrives- July 27th- Truck is a no show

July 28th- No show

July 29th- I call interstate multiple times, no answer- over the course of 2 hours.

I finally email them asking what the deal was? Matt promptly responded his apologizes and that he would be forwarding my email to his supervisor. Some time passes- no word from said supervisor so I reach out again- this time told I would receive a call from said supervisor.

Instead I was called by Daniella- Head of Customer Service- Her attitude is far from caring for the customers as she was dodging my questions and concerns and gaslighting me with questions back.

Shortly after I receive a call from a truck driver saying he is on his way- reminder, this is 3 days late.

By this point I am feeling super uncomfortable with utilizing this company as every single bit leading up to that point was a lie.

So I email Mike once again, this time voicing my very real concerns and requesting a refund and full cancelation of the move all together.

I was told I would be receiving a call from the supervisor, again never happened.

Daniella- Head of Customer Service called me again- I told her what I wa uncomfortable with and that I wanted to request a refund and she again- gaslight me by saying “isn’t the truck on the way? We clearly did our end of the job, the truck is on the way” So again, I requested a full refund and the cancellation of the move where I was told “If you cancel now we will keep your deposits”

At this point I already had over $3k in their pockets and felt there was no other option but to proceed. Especially because I couldn’t seem to get a supervisor on the phone.

I was also ridiculed for reaching out to all the employees I had spoken to while booking my move. I thought reaching out to them would help me get a resolution but soon realized each and every employee of this company is complicit with the scam.

When the truck arrived I was quick to realize- It wasn’t even an Interstate Moving and Relocation Group truck. They subbed the job out to another company making my scariest concerns very real.

Interstate Moving and Relocation Group are moving brokers, not an actual moving company like I was led to believe by their top Sales Coordinator Matt.

Legacy Moving and Storage was the third party company that Interstate hired. Matt at interstate never marked my account as a credit card account and Legacy did not accept traditional payment methods (credit, debit card).

At this point I called Interstate again, spoke to Daniella- Head of Custom Service who so kindly told me “this wasn’t their problem and I would have to figure it out”

If there weren’t enough flags leading up to this point I knew that non traditional payment methods such as Venmo, Zelle and CashApp did not protect me as I would be “authorizing” charges from my bank account to another “Authorized” destination.

With the truck outside my apartment I had no other option but to max out my families credit cards, transfer funds into my bank and Zelle and Venmo these charges to this subbed out company.

My small business lost thousands this month while being shut down for a prolonged amount of time.

I am out an additional almost 4k that I did not have to begin with and did not account for as I was bound to a contract under false pretenses and information given by their top sales rep.

Mike Green Senior Moving Coordinator is a liar.

Katherine VP of Quality Assurance is a liar.

Daniella Head of Customer Service is a liar.

Interstate Moving and Relocation Group is a scam.

Long-distance move from Shelbyville, KY to Parker, CO

ZERO RATING, this is the worst excuse for a moving company ever.

IMRG as a broker is the worst. The communications are so poor as to be none existent. The hustle up front was smooth talking and the price originally quoted was thousands below actual final cost quote. The cost escalated even before the movers arrived. There was no one to come and put "eyes-on" the things that were to be moved. (That should have been a first clue as to their incompetency.) The movers did not speak English well so that made things difficult. The movers took 3 days instead of one. I had already packed many of the boxes on my own at my own expense. They charged extra for boxes and packing materials, which are supposed to be included in the pre- agreed upon price. They were not efficient. And after telling them several times what was supposed to be packed, they had to be reminded to PACK those items. In fact, I specifically told them 4 times not to forget to pack my lamps. The truck was about to leave and the door was being pulled shut on the truck, but there were my lamps sitting on my counter. I stopped the movers and had them come back for the lamps. THEY DID NOT PACK THEM ADEQUATELY, just wrapped some bubble wrap around them and stuffed them into the truck. That was the 2nd of the disasters. The 3rd disaster was when I contacted the Broker AND the Movers with my closing date and request for move in delivery. I contacted them 3 days before closing. I was given false information on that day and for several days after... that is WHEN I was even able to reach either of them. Everyone lied about when the movers would arrive. My last contact with the movers indicated that the actual deliver date would be 5 days after they last promised. My whole schedule has been upset several times due to the inability of the broker and the mover to tell the truth and to be informed about what the whole procedure. They do not conduct a smooth (or even a reasonable) business procedure.

I have yet to have my household goods delivered and I fear the condition of said goods when they do arrive. The communication skills of these people was bad. I do not recommend using either IMGR or American Express Movers to anyone. Disastrous!

Cost & Damage

When I used this company back in March for my home move after they got there payment never heard from them again.Trying calling them no answer. And my price doubled in the end from what Mitch Peters quoted me.Also had damage when Swift Movers dropped off my stuff. My Weber grill has a big dent in the hood and the door is bent ,and many broken bins that I used to pack some of my stuff in.I have a picture with broken glass and some glass items broken .I asked the guy dropping off my stuff about the damage he says he’s got nothing to do with it just delivering. My cost was suppose to be $2,890 but in the end it cost me $5,091 that’s with a $500 discount and moving I slow season.Never got a call how the move went ?I wonder why?

Probably the best moving experience I've ever had

They arrived right on time in the morning and was super-fast and efficient in moving everything out of our apartment. We were moving all our stuff into a storage unit, and they were great at Tetris-ing everything to make sure things fit, all while keeping the boxes we wanted to be accessible easy to reach. The pair was really professional and also wore masks the whole time, as this was during COVID. And on top of all that, the company had the lowest quote out of the 5 moving companies I contacted. I can't recommend them enough!

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Baltimore, MD

Great when booking; no contact when in need

I booked a move Sept 2021 through Interstate, which subcontracted it to Legacy Moving and Storage, LLC (which I didn't know until they arrived for pick-up). I was given a 3-day window of pick-up. I spent a lot of time day 2 of the window trying to reach Interstate to confirm pick-up by day 3. The Interstate sales person was never responsive after I gave my deposit. By day 2 afternoon, someone from Interstate finally got back to me and she tried to find out who the driver would be. I got a call from Legacy after 9 pm to confirm next-day pick up. I was informed they would try to arrive in the morning, but they arrived after 6 pm. The movers were polite and diligent, however they did not inventory properly and I had to correct their records. They also didn't seem to know how to explain some of their paperwork.

Since pick-up, I had kept my furniture in storage with Legacy, paying monthly via Zelle. They only corresponded via text. Legacy texted me last week they are going out of business and must deliver my furniture. I have been obligated to rent another storage unit and now will have to pay additional costs to move from my new storage to my future home address. This has been a total hassle, and I remain confused who to trust in the moving business. Interstate's customer service was hard to reach when I really needed them.

Customer was mislead.

They are not a moving company. They are brokers. First quote from IMRG was half of what the final price on the day before loading. I was threatened that they would leave my stuff behind if I would not pay extra. Movers unloaded into a warehouse and kept for 10 days. Reload it at their convenience. Delivery date was unknown till day before the fact. I paid extra for packing and my shoes came all lying in a heap in bottom of Garmen box. There were numerous items damaged. The claim process very complicated. If I will be compensated it will take up to 4 months.

Long-distance move from Omaha, NE to Baltimore, MD

Not Recommended

I would not recommend using this company.

1. Grossly misquoted a 1 bedroom apt move (approx $900.00 more than quoted)

2. Forms never indicated who/what subcontractor they were using. I wrote a check to IMRG. The sub (Citta Van Lines)showed up with an entirely different contract and needed a new check to add the difference of the misquote as well as a different name on the check

3. Even after calling again to notify them of adding a bookshelf and dog crate they advised our quote was still good (Not true according to the $900.00 dollar difference)

4. Subcontractor pick up time was scheduled around a preferred drop off time. The sub was a week late on drop off

5. The sub gave a 22 hour notice of drop off and expected us to be available. When we asked to do the delivery the next day because we were not readily available (remember they were already a week late), they wanted to tack on another $500 dollars to deliver the next day even though they were a week late.

6. After we rearranged our schedule to make the drop off not to be charged some late fee, they tried to cancel and were not going to drop our shipment off. After telling them they would owe us $500.00 they agreed to deliver that day, just later in the evening.

7. Once the sub looked up the drop off address they said they would not be able to deliver the shipment because there was not enough room at the complex to bring their semi. It was either we rent a truck to pick up at their local location and do the rest of the move ourselves or we paid to have them rent a truck to get it to the drop off. We opted to have them bring it so they could carry things in.

8. Company agreed to disassemble/reassemble furniture on pickup/dropoff, but apparently the sub (Bulat Suleimanov) on the dropoff location didn't care about the reassemble agreement and just left

9. When questioning the company on what was promised and quoted we were told "be careful what you say, we record every call". I would be happy to review each call with this person. Personally I think he needed to be careful what he said because the coworkers who we talked to previously were not completely forthcoming or planned poorly. He should listen to previous recordings to verify what was discussed before questioning the customer.

Some of you may or may not care about this review but if you do decide to proceed with IMRG please be aware of:

1, What was agreed upon

2. Measure and weigh everything because apparently just telling them what you have to move is not good enough. Do your own space and weight calculations

3. Ask about their subcontracting. Apparently you have more to sign and owe

4. Find out what contract penalties are for both you or contractor/subcontractor BEFORE you are stuck on moving day. if they hold you accountable for "being Late", then so should they.

IMRG is not a "moving company" They are an umbrella company that basically just finds a local moving company for you. Maybe you should look locally first before asking IMRG.

Long-distance move from Dumfries, VA to Weatherford, TX

Believe the One-Star Reviews - Don't do it.

Just don't do it. No matter how well you think you're going to be able to do your own inventory and get an accurate quote, it will cost you double. I was fanatical about numbering everything I packed, noted Cubic Ft, took apart my own furniture and wrapped it myself in bubble-wrap and blankets. I took pictures and sent a detailed list to IMRG and when the moving company showed up, I was told that it would be thousands more than what was quoted. Of course you can't cancel as most people must move out the day they are scheduled, so you're stuck. IMRG told me it was a weight-based move, the moving company said it wasn't and was Cubic Ft. Then I had to sign away any rights I had to putting insurance on the items. The movers said I HAD to check the "60 cents per pound" insurance option. I said I wanted, and would pay for true value and they said I would have to do that through IMRG. My question was "why is that available as an option on the form you're asking me to fill out and sign now?"

Just like others have said, IMRG will tell you to "call them immediately if the moving company shows up with new contracts, different prices, or you have problems - and they will take care of you". No, they won't. They don't have any authority over the moving companies and those companies will not move anything until you have signed new contracts and terms with them. If you call IMRG, it will be several hours of going back and forth with them until you just give up - which is probably a very effective tactic in most cases.

Bottom line is that you understand that these are slick salespeople who will say anything and that you are not going to get the price you were quoted. If you understand that you're going to pay 50 - 100% more, then go for it. Like I said, I took pictures and sent an itemized list of everything and was still off by thousands.

Also, they are a BROKER - and these jobs go out to the lowest bidder. You might get lucky with a reputable mover, or you may have your stuff just outright lost or stolen.

Long-distance move from Cape Girardeau, MO to Dayton, OH

Terrible experience

Do I have a single good thing to say about this company? No. I was lied to, told that my delivery would be there on the day I requested. It wasn’t delivered for over 2 weeks later. They were 24 hours late to pick up. The original broker underquoted me by over half the square footage necessary. Leading me to have to run to the bank to get another cashiers check for over 1k dollars (with another bank fee for that additional check). Otherwise my option was for them to pack as much as they could, and I would be responsible for finding another way to move the rest. They did this purposely, and the movers (who were hired out) explained that this regularly happens, that people are underquoted so the price sounds better. They listed furniture and equipment as significantly smaller than what I had described. Just one example: I listed a full size peloton on the phone, it was listed as “small piece of exercise equipment” which the movers stated was the equivalent of a set of dumbbells. Hidden fees were tacked on, including for more than 7 stairs. I was told AFTER all of my stuff was on the truck, that they technically had 21 BUSINESS DAYS to deliver my stuff from the day I listed. This was never expressed to me by anyone, nor did I see it in my paperwork, except for the paperwork I was then forced to sign. Customer service was unhelpful, and just stated that the truck had a mechanical issue (an excuse I heard actually multiple times). Their solution was for me to call back to get updated delivery times, no offer for reimbursement or even apology. I had to call every other day for 2 weeks to get more information. Each time being told call back again soon. You would think that I must be moving a terribly long distance for all of this. Nope. I moved a little over 400 miles away, a drive that takes 6.5 hours, with traffic. Avoid this company. It would be better to just do it yourself, at least you would have it guaranteed that your things would arrive and you wouldn’t have random extra fees. 0/5 stars.

Move

BUYER BEWARE!!! Interstate Movers and Relocation Group has been one of the most frustrating consumer experiences of my life. While the guys who did the actual moving of my things from Minneapolis to Fort Worth were professional, careful, and did good work, the rest of my experience with this company was filled with misinformation, outright lies, poor communication, rudeness, and a total lack of interest in how their poor performance impacted my life. Their salesperson estimated my move would take “7 to 10 days”. My actual move took 36 days. During that time, my repeated requests for updates were met with indifference, conflicting answers about where my things were and when I might have them delivered, and inconsistent reasons for ongoing delays. Once they had my possessions and my money, they basically blew me off for five weeks. When they finally did show up, and despite telling me all along that they would work with me to schedule a convenient delivery time, they gave me less than 12 hour notice of when they would arrive, and told me if that didn’t work for me it would cost me an additional $500 to reschedule! The only reason I gave them one star is because I couldn’t give them less. I would never recommend them to anyone, and will never use them again. Interstate Movers and Relocation Group was simply terrible.

Terrible Experience

I chose to work with Interstate Moving and my initial experience with the salesman (Paul) was good and the price was competitive. Unfortunately things went downhill from there. Intestate is a broker (i new this going into the transaction). Unfortunately, Interstate contracted with Best Moving Van Lines which is a 1 star company. Best Moving Van Lines picked my goods up in northern california and took 36 days to deliver my belongings to phoenix. To make matters worse, 3 of 8 dining room chairs were cracked by the movers. Both Interstate and Best Moving Van lines have non-existent customer service. Basically they have your money and your belongings and could not care less. Fraudulent company

This is a fraudulent company. Tito’s is run by 2 palistian thieves Tariq and Ibrahim. interstate moving company will get you thieves who would damage and steal part of your furniture. We tried to sue them, they are refusing to provide an address to be served. The address listed on their site does not belong to them. When we hired a private investigator to locate them, it turned out that they left their address ( the address listed on their site) more than 4 years ago. They are now being investigated by the DA office. The reason why they have a high score on BBB is because they reply online to each complaint . Their reply is just lies. AVOID THIs COMPANY Long distance move...

They moved our belonging from N. GA and stored while we were selling our home and buying a new home. As of right now, they are holding our belongings hostage somewhere. They DO not answer the phone and if you by any chance get ahold of them, they promise to respond to you "by the end of the day". They NEVER respond. Then when you call to complain, the phone person hangs up on you! They already have received THOUSANDS of dollars... Did I mention that when they came to move us, they didn't have the large truck that they knew (and had quoted) to move us, so used smaller trucks and even then we had to hire other movers to get the remaining items that they refused to get. Bad Experience

Do not use Interstate Moving & Relocation Group. I had a long-distance move from CA to WA. They act as a broker and scheduled me with Best Moving Van Lines who was not only incompetent but also completely unprofessional and unresponsive to lost items. It has now been over three months and I still do not know if anything is being done to locate my belongings. Even though they were notified within 24 hours of the missing boxes, there response was to file a claim. Every time I called, to check on the status, they kept going back to the need to file a claim. I filed a claim, which of course only would pay a fraction of the value of the items. Worst moving experience ever.

Long-distance move from Gypsum, CO to Ozark, MO

Do not use these criminals

On 4/3/23 I received a bid from Leroy Smith 5614860467 to move to MO. We completed a walkthrough and quote for 4.5k was received. We paid an outrageous deposit of 2.1k to "secure" our move due to his high pressure sales tactics used. Stating he could not guarantee our dates unless booked on the phone with him right now.

As we are packing and reading the contract to know what to expect on move day, I notice that Leroy has only quoted 650 cuft for a 2 bed 2 bath with garage. Not sure how you fit an entire apartment into less cuft than a 10x10 room??? The inventory list Leroy provided looked nothing like what we discussed on the phone. He incorrectly labeled items discussed and left others completely off the quote.

We called Leroy on 4/17/23 to discuss and and he said he would call back in 15 min. The day goes by with no call back. On 4/18/23 we call customer service and are told that we need to speak with quality assurance to verify items on the list that should have been correct on the first quote. We receive a call on 4/19/23 from the QA person. Once we go through the same list of items that was discussed with Leroy, we now magically owe another 2.4k to move the same materials. Obviously, we do not have this kind of additional money laying around and we tell the QA person this.

We are now routed to the "manager" Sam (561) 486-0438 who has more authority. We talk with Sam explaining the above. Sam takes 500 off the price because we remove items from the list. We still cannot afford this move. Sam says he will look at options and get back to us on 4/20/23. Sam is never heard from again and does not answer.

Based on the high pressure sales tactics and inevitable future extortion we are requesting that a refund on the 2.1k deposit be provided.

P.S. if anyone is reading this and would like to call Leroy 5614860467 or Sam 5614860438 and thank them for ripping off a nurse for 2.1K it would be appreciated!!!

Long-distance move from Michigan to Ohio

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY

If I could leave a lower review than a 1 star I would. They are a bait and switch company. They quote you low. The original quote was less than 5,000. Then they don't contact you for weeks until it is too late to get your deposit back. When they do contact you somehow, the price doubles and it's too late to do anything. The new quote was 9500. They promised I would only pay for what I used, and it was a lie. The truck wasn't full, and I still had to pay for the full amount. I can prove it based on where I moved to and have yet to hear anything. Do yourself a favor and don't book with this company. Slimeball business practices.

Long-distance move from Savannah, GA to Odenville, AL

They finished on their estimated time!

We used Interstate Moving & Relocation Group for our long-distance relocation out of province and had been pretty cozy with the outcomes. The drivers had been immediate and took exquisite care to make certain that our gadgets had been secure and secure. After unloading, the drivers have been in a position to convey us in a day in the past than expected, and we had been as soon as once more delighted with the carrier provided.
