Highland Moving & Storage

I was out of province and needed a moving & storage company that could take care of everything since I could not physically be there. I have had many bad to horrible experiences with other companies. From asking for China and Crystal containers to wardrobe cartons, was charged for them but never got them. Even had a moving company overcharging me by over 125% with the guys (movers) dragging their feet and taking 1 hour lunch break on my dime.
So I was a little skeptical when I first contacted Highland Moving and Storage. They gave me a quote, promised to provide all services requested and explained absolutely everything.

So I sent a friend to let Highland Moving and Storage in and even with them having to pack (I hadn't had time to pack anything, didn't even know I would be moving) before going to Quebec.

So when I got the first invoice , I was extremely surprised. I even called to make sure it was right. The invoice was less than 1/4 of my last moving invoice. It even included storage fees for 1 month. I had to lea e my things in storage for about 6 months. I didn't have a credit card to pay but Highland Moving and Storage let me use interac e-Transfer to pay for everything.

I finally moved in to my new place on May 16th 2017. When I asked for a rough estimate on how much it would cost, they gave me an estimate very close to the actual cost. Even had the movers call the office within 1/2 of being done so I could send the e-transfer. I was and still am absolutely impressed by the level of honesty, professionalism and care I have experienced with Highland Moving and Storage. Overall, the total from the move out (with packing), 6 months of storage and the move in, was less expensive by $245 than the last company I had use.

So I will be a customer for life and recommend Highland Moving and Storage to everyone I know.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1400

The original estimate was off by 29% so move had to be split to two delivery trucks and delivery dates. Items were crammed into trucks and damaged. Boxes were completely smashed. Delivery was late. Items still missing. No follow up or concern or attempt to fix the solution. Then they had the nerve to send an invoice for the "overage" in weight even after we paid 110% of the original estimate. Two months later and still battling with them. They lied on the estimate to get our business and are now trying to nail us with additional, unexpected costs. They do not return phone calls. They have no concept of customer service. Brutal!

Service cost: $8000

My husband and I hired "professional" movers as we have a young family and thought it would make our lives easier. Were we ever wrong. The movers who delivered our items were quite rude, especially when making comments about the quality of our furniture. We had numerous damaged items, and countless items smashed to pieces. They managed to lose a queen sized box spring from the storage container in which I had to fight to get a fraction of compensation. Their rationale for not wanting to compensate me was that because I did not purchase extra insurance on all of my items, their only responsibilitly was to pay $0.30 per pound. I understand this concept when it comes to damages, but I did not think one had to purchase extra insurance to ensure that items made it from point A to point B, I foolishly assumed that was an expectaion. Expecially considering we were paying thousands of dollars for their services. There were a few individuals within this company that were great to deal with, overall my experience was horrible and we will be very reluctant in the future to hire "professional" movers. If you care about your household items, I would not hire this company to do your move. .

The crews were just great - they were polite, careful and very hard working. They were a great team, and worked extremely well to ensure I was satisfied. As my move involved moving out, storage of my goods, and then delivery at a later date it was more than just the average move. Kudos for the professionalism of your company and your staff!  Some slight damage to a few items, but the crew were the first to note it, and I am sure it will be taken care of. I highly recommend this company!

Service cost: $3500

When the guys arrived and I showed them what needed to be moved, and pointed out the damage caused by the last movers, they actually got upset and said "what's the matter with people", and "nobody takes pride in their work anymore". They also worked so hard to get my huge upright piano into the room where I wanted it, which left a few marks on two walls (they had warned me it would happen), but I told them to go ahead, and I would worry about fixing the marks later. Chad felt so bad (even though I told him not to), and went to get the mud and putty knife from their truck (even when I told him not to worry, I would fix it later). They were all so friendly as well. It was nice to be able to actually talk to them while they were working, instead of feeling like I was getting in their way while they worked. I would definitely recommend your company to anyone I know who is moving.
