Green Van Lines Moving Company- Dallas

I walked through our new home and explained to the X company crew which room belong to each previous setup and label, all boxes were labelled according (i.e. master bedroom, bedroom 1, 2, and 3, kitchen, living room and so on...). Unpacking was super easy since they assembled all the furniture back and put all the boxes and items in the correct rooms. They stacked accordingly to needs and they left pathways to exit the garage door, side door, to the extra refrigerator in the garage and entryway into the home for easy accessibility.

I wish I could give a good review of this company, especially since I did my due diligence in researching companies before selecting them. I planned a move from Dallas to Houston and contacted Green Vanlines for a survey of my belongings for the most accurate estimate. This was my preference because many moving companies tend to take advantage of customers by asking them to provide a list of their belongings. I wanted the company to see my belongings and assess the need of the move from there. A surveyor came to my home, spent about an hour there and provided a detailed estimate afterwards. From there, I compared other estimates and remained in contact with Sharon who was very responsive as I asked questions. Months later I received an email from Sharon offering me a 5% discount and stated that I was moving during the off-season and they could use the business during the pandemic also. Based on my positive interaction, the reviews and the discounted rate, I went with Green. Days before the move, I received a few confirmation phone calls. The movers arrived on time and were nice. Only one spoke English but we made due. After the truck was loaded, the crew leader basically scratched everything explained to me and was outlined in the estimate. He stated that I used more materials than the surveyor estimated and that he couldn’t honor whatever agreement I had with them (which was all in writing). He calculated his own rates in his cellphone and asked for payment. After that, I heard nothing from the company. Even up until the day before my items were supposed to be dropped off, I called Sharon, and nothing. I called customer service and was told they’d have someone contact me and nothing. I had to call the owner just to get some answers about when my entire home which was in their possession would be delivered. He assured me that my items would arrive the next day. Once the movers arrived, the same game was played once it was time to pay. They ignored what was surveyed and estimated in writing and tacked on an additional $1000 to the balance. What is the point of having someone come out and survey the property if they are going to underestimate the need and cost? This seems to be a tactic they use to take advantage of customers. After that, the crew leader asked me if he could record a video of me leaving a review of how good my move was. When I told him my experience was horrible, he said to just leave out the part about the money because that’s on the sales team, not the moving team. Unfortunately, it’s unethical to coach customers into leaving positive reviews and while he was a nice guy and their team did work hard, I declined the skewed video. I used this company to move me into temporary housing and would’ve used them again for my permanent move once my new house is built but now it’ll be the complete opposite. I’ll never use or recommend Green Vanlines and when asked (as someone who has moved many times), I will tell people to not use this company.

I was in a time crunch to move across state from Texas to New York and Green Van Lines was one of the first companies to get back to me with a quote and at a reasonable price.

The pickup from my apartment was fine but after that, everything went downhill.

I had to harass the dispatcher Diana nonstop to get any update on my shipment. My stuff sat in a warehouse for three weeks before getting shipped out, leaving my boyfriend and I sleeping on the floor of our new apartment waiting for our things to arrive.

On the day of our delivery in New York, the moving team showed up 4 hours later than expected. When they finally showed up, the head mover David was rude and immediately demanded payment even before they started unloading the van.

Save yourself the time, stress, and money and use a different company for your move

We hired green van lines to move us from TX to CO. We paid extra for a direct move. Things went pretty well when they packed us in TX. However when the driver turned up on CO he had to hire help. He hired 3 men for cash. They were not known to the company and had no moving experience. The day was chaotic with the driver doing his best with men who didn’t know how to lift or use a dolly. We were patient and kind. However, when we came to unpack we found that 3 boxes were missing. We went through every scenario to figure out where they could be. Our only conclusion was that they were stolen. We paid a lot for a professional move, we did not receive that service. We were referred to their claim service who offered us a small amount of money which we chose not to accept as it meant that we could not leave a review for others. We thought it important to share this information.

I wish I could give less then one star. I have never been treated so poorly. I moved from Texas to Florida. The pick up was great but it took several emails and 21 days to get my items. When my things arrived they were held hostage until I paid an additional $950 because the semi could not get down my street. However I confirmed with the city it could and later learned the driver paid $500 for the shuttle so he made a quick $450. When my things arrived I had to pay in full before I could even look at my items in the truck to verify it was my things. I am a single female and the driver thought it appropriate to yell at me in the driverway so loud my neighbors looked out to check on me. Then when unloading I got to deal with the creepy feeling of being hit on by one of the movers. There was never an inventory checked but I was required to sign it. If that was not bad enough my boxes arrived with gapping wholes in them, my trim in my new house got damaged, my stairs were damaged. My standing mirror jewerly box was broken along with a bookcase but the kicker.....they lost my 10X12 oriental rug, ladder, and a box with over 1000 CDs. And the best part this all happened over a week ago and to date no one has been in touch with me about filing a claim even though I have reached out to them numerous times. I am still in Shock. Whatever you do, avoid this nightmare.
