Long-distance move from Ontario to New Brunswick

Eager to pickup but get ready for delivery and invoice nightmares.

My daughter contacted GM&S to move her belongings from Ottawa to Fredericton, N.B. GM&S picked up her stuff two weeks prior to planned date of delivery. On the weekend of the expected delivery, my daughter contacted GM&S asked why her stuff was not delivered. They replied that an invoice needed to be paid off first. Such invoice was never emailed in first place)..anyhow, I took over the situation as she was getting the running around treatment. After much cat and mouse emailings, we got an invoice, showing doubled the amount from $640.00 to $1,276.23.

I paid with VISA instead of money transfer (just in case something would go wrong). After 5 weeks, still no delivery nor estimated time and date for delivery. Then I read about the bad reviews and local people who got ripped off and had bad experience with them. I decided to get my daughter's belongings myself then drove to their Scarborough warehouse on Tapscott road, prior to the 6 weeks limited free storage.

I made arrangements with one of the agents, to ensure I would see and talk to someone in authority to obtain her stuff without any troubles. When I got there that morning, I was greeted by a lady who was nervous to know who I was and why I was there..after showing my daughter's papers, she made me stay in a room for a few minutes, then told me to meet the boys at loading dock #1. On my way out, I saw a baseball bat in the corner of that corridor, my buddy and I overheard that the manager was expecting some very unhappy people that morning. ..Glad we missed that. On our way to the loading dock, could not help myself taking photos of the barricaded doors and windows of that warehouse. What a sketchy place this is !! At the loading dock, 4 guys greeted us. Only one of them was speaking English, he's the one who helped getting my daughter's belongings in the truck.

I left with great relief to see that all her stuff was there and nothing was stolen or broken. I was surprised to see that nobody asked me to sign any papers or get some kind of confirmation that the goods were taken out. Once home, I wrote to VISA to get a full refund, which I did. Your best protection is to always pay with a credit card, disputing will go better than to pay for a lawyer or hunt for your refund from shady companies like them.
Word of advise; keep timeline of calls, names and emails. It will help your dispute and resolve your case effectively.

They advertise their business address being on 69 Young street, Toronto. Their location warehouse and operations is in fact located at 380 Tapscott, Scarborough, ON.

Great Experience.

My family moved from Brampton to Barrie. We used Green Moving and Storage. Their rate was very low. They were well within my budget. My booking person was awesome. She answered all my questions and provided details that I didn't even think I needed to know. The movers were on time, very friendly and professional. If your looking for a good moving company I would definitely recommend this company.

Long-distance move from Alberta to Quebec

Fraudulant company 0/100.

This company agreed to match prices with a company that offered me a transportation of my material (king and queen size bed plus dining table) for 440$ plus gst 22$, including a free wrapping!

I agreed with them because Mark who called me and had me change my mind with the other companies told me that their service is their pride! I agreed to deal with them!

That was the worst decision I could take, because 1st: I booked a month before the moving date which was february 25, 2016 and they waited till the 24th to call and cancel the pick up scheduled for the 25ft!

I called their office and told them about that phone call I have received and they did not even know what happenned! So they fixed it and called me back saying they were sorry and even send me an email appologizing for that matter!
They eneded up doing the pick as scheduled!

On february 10th, 2016, after almost a month of transportation, the company called me and said that they were ready to deliver on the 11th at 8AM, I was exited and all because I was sleeping on the ground with my wife and a 5 months old baby until they added that the bill was 682$ owing!

I was shocked and asked why because that was not the amount we agreed to from begining! Someone called BROCK said that I was being CHaRGED for the WRAPPING of the materials!
Surprised I got really MAD and told them that the amount charge is not right because they AGREED to WRAP for free! unexpectedly the man started telling that they would not bring my materials and had MARK call me!

When MARK CALLED, HE SAID that it WAS NOT HIS BUSINESS BECAUSE HE NOT THERE WHEN THE DRIVER THEY HAVE SENT WAS PACKING!

SHOCKED, I HAVE ASKED: HOW IS IT MY FAULT IF THEIR SUBCONTRACTORS ARE THE ONE WHO WRAPPED THE MATERIAL!

THEY DID NOT SAY ANYTHING AND HANG Up JUST LIKE THAT! Untill today I have not received my beds and dinning tables, AND STILL SLEEPING ON THE GROUND WITH MY WIFE and MY 5 MONTHS OLD BABY!

This company is the worst transportation ever!
Mostly they waited till one day prior to the delivery to tell me that they were charging me for the wrapping, when first of all it was supposed to be free and second of all be waited till the last minute to prevent me and that is just not right at all! Because if you changing a contract closure, the other party is supposed to be informed of the changes made to it! And not wait till one day prior to the delivery to inform people without prevention!!

I have the emails from MARK and RECORDED THEM AGREEING AND DISAGREEING TO OUR AGREEMENT!! also harassing me

(for your additional information, I even told the drivers that I don't want them to wrap it since there was going to be charges!

the drivers stated that there is no problem because they were not going to charge me and that they would charge the company instead + the DRIVER INITIALED THE PAPER HIMSELF, because he added a charge of 2..$ and that they were in a rush for some other pick ups in Calagary, I DECIDED to not sign since MARK did not mention anything about Charges for THE WRAPPING. he stated that there was no problem they only would deal with the company and not me!

Also it has to be clear that I am not working for your company to give any direction at the pick up moment, simply because it is your DUTY as the person who signed the papers and agreement to let them KNOW HOW TO WORK. SPECIALY WHEN THEY ARRIVE AT MY LOCATION, THEY DID NOT EVEN KNOW IF THEY HAD TO SEND IT WRAPPED OR NOT. they asked me if I wanted that and I answered MARK SAID IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE WRAPPED FOR FREE.

and I answered that it's between you guys because what concerns me is that MARK clearly said that the WRAPPING would be FREE!

everything was not stated at the moment of the agreement and now that it is delivery time, you and your company are trying to add charges that are not even mentioned during the 2 weeks to prevent me or ask me if I wanted to pursuit with that or not!

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU GUYS DID AT THE PICK UP MOMENT ONE DAY PRIOR CHANGING THE TIME AND DAYS, which has to be scheduled by me giving a call to your COMPANY, GREEN MOVING STORAGE.

surprisingly you were not even aware of those situations, HOW PROFESSIONAL AND TRUSTWORTHY IS THAT WHEN YOU BOOKED ME ! MONTH AHEAD!

sincerly,).

Long-distance move from Quebec to Ontario

Absolutely Terrible.

We moved between provinces and had a very stressful, thanks in large part to this company (still dealing with our claim, 6 months later).
First, the company was extremely misleading, by operating under a different name (Homeland moving) and offering a quote that grossly underestimated the weight of a 4 bedroom apartment.
It was also not our understanding that our property would be moved twice, which obviously increases the risk of damage, since the customer cannot have anyone present at the second move to insure that things are moved correctly. My father was present for the initial pick up, on our behalf, and only then was told that later that day or the following day, the truck would drive to Toronto and then our belongings would be moved onto a bigger truck. Obviously, he had no choice but to agree to it at that point.
When we returned from our travels in June (I had informed the person I was in communication with at Homeland that we would be away for most of June and that my father would be present for the move in our stead), I arrived back to several phone messages and emails essentially harassing us for the full payment of the moving service. However, these messages and emails were from a company that I did not know I was doing business with, Green Moving & Storage. Not only did I feel harassed, because I had informed Homeland that we would be out of the country, but we were not informed that full payment would be required before we received any of our belongings. It was also three times the amount that had been estimated, and it was from a company I had never dealt with. I called Green Moving to clarify the situation, was essentially threatened that the goods would not be delivered for several weeks if payment was not received immediately, and then received yet another call after payment had been made, because of a lack of communication within the accounting department. Totally incompetent employees all around.
Finally, the delivery was four days late and we had to call everyday to get an update, whereas we were told the company would call us the day before our expected delivery. Every time we called we were given some excuse about the truck not yet having left the initial city, because the driver was sick or whatnot. Yet this didn't make sense, because we knew from what my father had been told, that our things had long since been taken to Toronto and moved onto another truck.
When we finally did receive our belongings, several boxes clearly marked "fragile" were partially crushed, furniture was damaged and large items that we had securely packed, yet had still included HUGE signs we had made, saying "Fragile and Do Not Place on Side -- Glass" , were in fact transported on their side, causing them to partially come apart, risking the breaking of large pieces of glass. The workers' complete disregard for our belongings, despite the efforts we made to direct them in keeping our items safe was unbelievable.

Needless to say, every interaction with Green Moving & Storage was frustrating. Their lack of response to our claim, several times over (the initial online claim in July went completely ignored; our attempts to speak to a manager on the phone was thwarted several times; and the several attempts at following up I made, both by email and phone, were almost entirely neglected) is but another example of how terribly this business operates.

PS: This page requires a minimum of 1 start, but I would give Green Moving and Storage ZERO starts.

Long-distance move from Quebec to British Columbia

Avoid at all costs.

Green Moving and Storage is a con company. Avoid at all costs.

Got quoted for $1500 for ~2000lbs move from Montreal to Vancouver Paid the $100 deposit. Movers came August 27 (extremely late in the day, almost a no show), discovered Green Moving subcontracts to other moving companies to do the actual pick-up and delivery, which did not inspire confidence.

They promised 10 day delivery from pick-up. I called 14 days later with inquiring about my move, not having heard anything, was told the truck was too full and it was delayed to next shipment. Got a call a couple of days later and was told I had to approve authorization for payment before delivery. First time I've been told, and also extremely sketchy as payment is normally done AFTER delivery. Was given the invoice authorization and it's $1000 higher than the initial quote.

When I asked why, I was told my stuff measured to ~3000lbs. I argued even if that was the case (my shipment couldn't have been more than ~2000bs) the full price reflects a timely move, which this was not. In the end they politely threatened that I had to pay or my stuff would not be delivered. On the authorization form, there's a clause that states I can not argue the price at a future date.

This left me extremely unhappy, as this is nothing but strong-arm conning. They wait until they have your possessions, and then force you to pay amped up prices without any accountability of delivery.

I relented and approved the authorization on the invoice on the promise it would be delivered in another 7-9 days (promised September 17-19). Heard nothing, called on September 19 and was told my shipment was in Vancouver, but waiting for a driver to deliver it to my home and to be expected by September 22. Called again, only to be told my shipment hasn't arrived in the city, and to be expected September 25. When I asked to speak to someone of accountability, I was put on hold until the office closed and hung up.

Short version: delivery cost nearly twice as much of the quote, was strong-armed into paying full price before delivery with my shipment held hostage, and it's been a month from pick-up date with the company lying twice outright to my inquiries. I'm afraid my things won't be delivered in full or in good condition, if it ever is.

Customer service is abysmal. Company does not respond to emails, and only calls you pro-actively when they want your money. When you call the company they encourage you to call the dispatcher, who never picks up the phone.

Avoid my mistake, don't go with Green Moving, but whatever moving company you choose be sure you clarify you pay AFTER delivery.

Very Disorganized and Rude People.

I paid for moving and storage and called them 2 weeks before my scheduled delivery date. They promised to call me 24hrs ahead and when I didn't receive a call, I called them to follow up. Then I was told that they have changed because they could not get a driver up there. They did no show up on the scheduled day and did get a call. I called and they promised they will be there the next day. No show. I called after that and Patrick (Dispatch) was the rudest person they could find told me they would deliver it in 3 hrs while I work an hour away. I reminded them that per my calls, I advised that I will not be available before 5 pm and the best he could tell me is "well we'll go to Winnipeg and deliver it another day".
With total disregard, he hung up on me twice telling me he didn't care.

Best advise - Do not use them or you will regret every doing business with them.

Long-distance move from Ottawa, ON to Surrey, BC

Ottawa to BC.

I booked my move with Kelly to Surrey, BC back in the beginning of May from Ottawa. Kelly was very helpful and was able to provide me with all information that I needed.

I just got my things delivered a couple days ago and I can say I was very satisfied with the movers. I had a lot of fragile items that I was nervous about shipping because of their sentimental value (mainly china from my grandmother and a china cabinet) and everything was delivered to me as it had been picked up.

I had six weeks of free storage which was helpful so I could coordinate with my closing date. Thanks for the great work.

Long-distance move from Antigonish, NS to Brampton, ON

Terrible.

Initially I was very happy. Polite, friendly, good quote. The actual experience was late, unprofessional and twice the initial quote. But they did move my stuff quickly. I had packed most of my stuff in bins anyways, so nothing was severely damaged. Once my stuff got from NS to Ontario, the trouble began. I have never in my life dealt with such an immature a**hole as the one in charge of arranging payment and delivery. I think he got the job because he was an a**hole. He gloried in it. He loved saying nasty things, enjoyed my discomfort, laughed at my expectation of professionalism, mocked my shock and anger, told me it wasn’t his problem and repeatedly hung up on me. Super classy guy. But this seems to be the real face of the company. What scammers. I will be much more wary of moving companies in the future, and I will never use this company again.
