Great Nation Moving

The actual move and movers for our furniture were great! We only found one broken picture frame and mirror. None of our glassware (wine glasses, etc) or other items were broken or missing. The movers were friendly, courteous, and did a great job. We originally got a quote from Great nation at about $13000 for our cross country move. We were quoted from another company for $8000 and decided to go with the second company. Rose had been so helpful and communicative with our move that I was heartbroken to let her know we would not be going with Great Nation. When we spoke she explained that they would happily match the bid from the second company! I was excited to work with her, and agreed to the move. As stated, the move itself went well. About 3/4 of the way packing up the initial move, our head mover explained we were going to be over budget. Before they left they quoted us at about $15000. I panicked and called Rose worried..it was nearly DOUBLE the quoted price. She assured me not to worry and that it would all be worked out. She was going to speak to the operations guys to see what would happen. After our things were parked in front of the destination and back and forth on the phone with the owner/operations manager they finally explained they weren't budging on the final $15000 price and if we didn't pay, they wouldn't unpack our items. I was so upset and just decided to pay. What a scam. The owner/operations guy was rude, careless, and offered no concrete explanation as to why they offered a very low quote if it couldn't be fulfilled. Please do not use this company. They are not trustworthy.

We contacted Great Nation Moving for my daughter’s move from Pennsylvania to Illinois after completion of her graduate degree from Villanova. We were hesitant to hire a moving company for such a small move (only four or five articles), but the expense was worth it. The moving coordinator, Scott Franks, provided us with a timely, professional, detailed quote for the move which, compared to other companies, was extremely reasonable. Communication between Scott, the moving crew, my daughter and me, from start to finish, was excellent and we can’t say enough for the efficiency and professionalism of the moving crew. If we ever need to move again, we will be sure to contact Great Nation Moving, LLC, and will not hesitate to refer them to others.

The packers who came to pick up our stuff were very thorough and did an excellent job in protecting our fragile items.
Loading on to the truck was efficient.
Our goods went into storage efficiently and were retrieved in a timely fashion
Communication was good throughout
The furniture unloading was efficient and thorough
The truck driver did a masterful job reversing his 53ft truck through our narrow condo entrance without running into any flowerbeds etc.
All goods arrived Undamaged
Initially the estimate provided was low, mainly due to our underestimating volume of material to be moved but Great Nation worked with us on this
Altogether a great experience.

Our moving experience with Great Nation Moving was very well coordinated and carried out. Without being able to be at the pickup place, we had to trust that our belongings would be prepared for shipping and packed efficiently. We were very impressed with James Baldwin's management of quoting and handling our move. The dispatcher kept us up-to-date and the moving men worked tirelessly to package our belongings at the storage building and then move them into our house. We would use Great Nation Moving again without a second thought!

We hired Great Nation Moving for an interstate move in early June. Excellent customer service from the start with Rick Greenwalt. He explained everything in great detail and made sure we felt comfortable with the whole process. He checked in with us several times during the move. The move team showed up on time and did a great job staging, packing and loading. They were hard-working and careful with our belongings. Upon arrival at our new house they didn’t waste any time unloading and made sure everything was in its place. We highly recommend Great Nation Moving!

The team in VA were pandemic-ready professionals, who packed & moved us to IL with kindness & respect. From initial contact with James through connecting with dispatch (David) and finance (Jennifer) to our amazing crew lead (Fredy), I cannot say enough positive things about this experience.

I've moved 10+ times in the last 20 years (domestically and internationally) and I have never enjoyed such a seamless process.

Price-wise, this was also the most reasonable quote, both with timeline and price----I was really so pleased.

Stay away from this moving company (Great Nation Moving).

We were told by Rose Carol our furniture delivery would be packed in one truck. Unfortunately, we got two small trucks, the items were packed like herrings in a jar. Some items were outside the truck on the extension. They took our items in storage to unload them and get bigger truck to load them again. During conversations with them the items will be packed in one truck for final destination and delivered at the same time. The items were beaten twice from one truck to another. Some furniture packed by them cracked/broken/scratched. Plastic boxes with clothes broken in a hundred pieces. Will we get reimbursement from their insurance, still in the process? The items were delivered in two deliveries two weeks apart. Don’t trust their promises. For the price they charged us our suggestion is to look for some other moving company.

I used these guys to move from Boston to San Francisco. It was an awful experience. They picked my stuff up in August and put it into storage as I requested.

In early October, I asked them to move me to San Francisco. Rose greatly exaggerated Great Nation's capabilities telling me stories about how they can do a coast to coast move in 8 days. I didn't believe it, of course. But as weeks passed, I kept following up and kept hearing the same thing. Nothing has happened, "your stuff is still in storage."

Finally, a month later in early November, I learned that Great Nation subcontracted my move to a third party called Roadrunner Moving. I was disgusted to hear this because before signing with Great Nation, I asked Rose repeatedly "Do you subcontract?" and the answer was "No". Well, it turns out, I was lied to.

And to make matters worse, when my stuff finally arrived more than a month after I had requested it be shipped out west, I had several items missing and almost all of my larger items broken. They also brought in multiple items to my apartment which weren't mine (and I returned to them) so they have MASSIVE organization issues and moves can get mixed. I have filed a claim with Anthem Claims Management and the owner David is trying to skirt the Full Value Protection I paid for (and money that Great Nation accepted) with a loophole about how the form I signed stated I wanted Minimum Value insurance. I requested several times both before and after my move that I wanted Full Value insurance, it was included in my initial contract and paid for, confirmed via text by their customer service agent Jen and Great Nation accepted my money for the premium. The form was a clerical error mistakenly completed by the driver, not by me. David also tried to falsely claim that Full Value insurance is only valid for 30 days (where did this come from???).

I'm hoping I can be compensated fairly by Anthem for the massive amount of loss and damage that Great Nation and Roadrunner did to my items. What a horrible mistake to use these guys. They have no tracking on where things are at any time so the odds my missing stuff will be found are slim to none.
