Long-distance move from Philadelphia, PA to Washington, DC

Scam!!

Imagine moving to a new city at the start of March 2020 (Global Pandemic) to be without any furniture or belongings for 5 months and growing.

I know they will give you a lower estimate and the sales team sound like decent human beings but do not fall for this fraudulent company!! From the owner, David, to movers they will suck the life out of you.

I have been dealing with this company for the last year and half and every Scam checklist has been checked. From loading my furniture before giving me actual estimate and inflating 3x to extorting me for cash of $500 as tip to highjacking my furniture and belongings.

It has been 5 month now that I have been waiting for my delivery and even the insurance company that I paid extra (second level) can't do anything because Movers keep telling insurance that they will deliver and insurance won't pay up because Movers claim that they have my furniture and will deliver on a imaginary date. UNBELIEVABLE!!

BTW, they keep changing their company name to avoid bad ratings and BBB. Great American Van Lines, Mirit Great American ..

They will rip you off.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL SCAM YOU AND HOLD YOUR ITEMS PAST THE DELIVERY TIME.I have dealt with them and now I regret every single moment I have to deal with handling my move. They do not respond once they have your items. They will not call you email you or update you. They will not let you know where your items have been stored once they have it.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to North Hollywood, CA

Scammers.

Scammers! David Carter, from http://www.good-movers.com and http://www.tri-statevanlines.com started the process of my move.

After MANY emails and phone calls where I made sure yo tell him the exact amount of things I had, and the size of the boxes and containers I was going to use, he assured me that I still had free space left in the truck. The day of the moving came when they were almost done with loading the truck, the mover told me that I already used all the space I needed and that it was going to cost me more. I knew this was not true, I knew this was not true, I showed him my my binding moving quote of $1650, but he kept going on with excuses that did't make sense, he said that if I didn't pay he would unload my stuff and leave it in the street and I would loose my deposit, I lived on the 4th floor with no elevator, I would have never been able to bring it all back in side (I am a 120 woman) I didn't have a place to live anymore and my flight was the following day. So I was forced to sign a new quote for $2350 instead.. plus another $200 tip..

I paid a deposit of $380, then $985 on pick up day both by card, and $985 on delivery day by postal money order (they requested cash and I refused)

I tried to call David Carter but he never spoke to me again, never responded to my many many emails, one go his colleagues told me David was just a sales person and to contact the actual moving company "Mirit Great American" License Info: US DOT # 1381471 / ICC MC # 520641

That's the first time I heard of them and when I realized that David sent my stuff to someone else to do the moving. When I saw all the reviews and complaints online and the ones at BBB about Great American, I knew this was a scam, hundreds of people who have been in the exact same situations than me. When I contacted Great American, I spoke to Nathan Gold, I told him about the extra charges and that I couldn't afford them, and he kept telling me that I signed the papers on the pick up day so I agreed to those charges. I wouldn't call that agreeing, I would call that blackmail and extortion, he then told me that I was charged more because the truck had to park two blocks from my house, which isn't true, I saw the truck parked right in front of my door, I was charged $150 in "tape", then he told me my boxes where bigger, the only bigger boxes where the ones provided by the movers, I ran out of boxes the night before so I decided to purchase boxes from them since this was offered to me, the boxes they used where huge, but that is not my fault and that shouldn't add $700 to my quote. I tried to reason with Nathan Gold, but he told me "you don't want to mess with me" trying to scare me, since he still had all my belongings sitting in his NJ warehouse two weeks after pick up day.. There are so many complaints about this company online, pretty much since the year 2005 up until now . How is it possible they are still aloud to scam people this way?? A lot of my boxes were broken, and some open, a lot of expensive stuff missing. So not only did I loose $700 but also the value of all those things.

Long-distance move from Bergton, VA to Grand Rapids, MI

You will not be disappointed

Before moving, they have very good customer services, you know exactly what will be going on. We had a big day on the past Saturday from early morning until late afternoon for exactly 10 hours!!!. They are very organized and efficient. We have three homes to move furniture around, so there are lots of furniture to move in and move out, and to get swapped between two homes. At the end of day, all furniture are in the right position, we are very happy!

Great Service!

Their level of professionalism was outstanding, they were polite, courteous, careful with my things. I was extremely impressed by their hard work and attention to detail. My whole move was done under the time I thought it would take by a big margin. The team really made my move so easy and fun and I recommend using them if you're plan to move sometime soon!

Great work in a professional manner

We used two movers during our move, with 3 weeks of storage in between. Ultimately, we were very pleased with our move from the time these movers originally dropped off all our boxes. All happened on the agreed dates and the timing worked well each time. Our belongings were in perfect condition. They turned out to be the best movers in town for us.

The worst company ever, DO NOT TRUST

Any positive review here is a fake. This is hands down the worst experience I've ever had with *any* company, not just movers. All of the other reviews about drivers showing up late, moves being rescheduled, items being broken, and items being lost are TRUE.

In addition to delivering my belongings over a month late, this was the most uncommunicative company I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I was constantly given different numbers to call, told that my truck had broken down in New Mexico, Texas, and then New Mexico again.

I would never ever entrust my business to these people and no one else should either.

Long-distance move from Boston, MA to Naples, FL

The worst company I've ever dealt with.

Do not believe ANY positive review, it's all a scam. This company literally robbed us and damaged most of our stuff, read below to understand more.

We were initially dealing with the managers Nattan and Oren Ovadia, the first conversation was fine and we were quoted a price that we thought was fair and we decided to go with them. We discussed the number of boxes and furniture we had and where it was going to be delivered and we had full faith trust in them. Then they required a deposit to confirm our booking and we were good with everything up to this point. Then the sloppiness and the red flags will start when they were coming to load our stuff in, we agreed on a time window and of course, they didn't respect that and only came in when it was convenient for them. Then after they loaded our stuff in the truck, they quoted us a much higher price than originally discussed, we were shocked and at this point, it was too late to back out as they had all of our stuff loaded in the truck. At this point, they have our belongings and we agreed with the management team that our boxes and furniture will stay in their storage facility in NJ for up to 30 days (it was a part of our contract). Then exactly 19 days later, we receive a phone call from the truck driver SAMER, who said our stuff is scheduled to be delivered to our Florida address, at that point, we were still in our Massachusetts address where the stuff was picked up from and again it was supposed to stay in NJ for the 30 days while we were making proper arrangements. We calmly informed Samer of the arrangement we had with the company and he basically doesn't care and need to follow instructions from his managers. They completely dropped the ball by releasing our stuff without informing us or meeting the deadline, then we were given no choice but to call our new apartment leasing agent and to re-negotiate lease terms and basically agreed with them to let the movers in our new home so they can deliver our stuff (this proves the level of trust we put in them), little did we know, our stuff didn't get delivered to the new property because SAMER "couldn't" get in the parking lot in a truck and didn't want to deal with stairs. Then he offered us to move our stuff to a shuttle for a $500 fee but the issue with the stairs remains. After a lot of back of forth, we finally decided to get a storage unit and we agreed that Samer and his team will drop our stuff there, this was all happening while we are still on the road towards Florida. As a piece of mind, I requested a video and pictures of our stuff since we won't be there to receive it. Little did we know, when we finally arrived 3 days after our stuff was dropped off, we were shocked to see that all our boxes were definitely not handled with care, pretty much all of our boxes were ripped open and it gets worse, one box was MISSING (aka stolen) which has all of our expensive electronics and it leads me to believe that it was done intentionally. We contacted the managers to retrieve our missing box and they completely denied this and they are accusing us of lying. They absolutely refuse to take responsibility for any of this and then we started a claim with them and it's been a couple of months now and we haven't heard back. If you would like to deal with a scamming company that will vandalize your personal belongings and steal from you, then the choice is yours.

Worth the trust.

Worth the trust

I did comprehensive research before choosing a van line, while not the cheapest, they offered the most comforting and professional phone service and tips regarding my move. The crew that arrived at my house did their jobs just as I expected and handled my piano with great care and without an exorbitant additional fee.
