Most people in their 80’s move from a large house to a smaller apartment, we did the opposite…we went from a NYC apartment to a large house in Colorado. We renovated floor 1 and 2 for 8 months…so we unpacked nearly 70% of our things after the reno was complete. Golden Van Line LLC subbed our move out…be careful…they are a broker, not a mover… hence more money and less care. If you go online, different sites show several different addresses in NJ, one of which is a residential house, not a business! The actual mover. Atlantic Moving, then stored all our belongings for two months, and finally moved everything to CO in Feb 2022. Renovations started in March 2022, most stuff was not unpacked before end of November. Any insurance policy we paid extra for... was useless…

The whole story? Golden told me that anything I packed would not be insured. Great, did you tell me that at the beginning or after I packed ¾’s of the apartment? Well, I guess that turned out OK since the only things that broke when I packed them was one small crystal glass and a saucer. Half a condo of antiques, European crystal from grandparents and great grandparents, and fragile furniture that I packed survived beautifully. Hurrah! since it apparently was not insured! On the other hand, Atlas Moving, the sub-contractor company, broke a crystal chandelier from Europe, three of my four vintage dining room chairs from the 1870’s, I mean legs cracked completely off, which cost me 650.00 to have repaired and refurbished. There are gouges in other furniture. They put together our custom crafted platform bed with drawers in the base wrong and whined about centering it in the bedroom (we had to take the whole bed apart and start over none of it was done correctly). They whined about carrying two hand crafted tall storage art cabinets into the basement and gouged out the side of one either in transit or in carrying it down the stairs. Our American Leather couch (for which we paid $6000 originally) had the color scraped off the leather of the back and arm edges. One of the large original prints from a well known printmaker artist had the glass cracked which I had to replace. When we FINALLY got all the packages open, there were things missing. I still haven’t found my hiking boots (severalpairs, an expensive commodity), snow boots (rugged and fancy), and brand new UGGS. My husband cannot find a medium box of important jazz CD’s that he has collected over 50 years. And we are still wondering about other things we can't find! Tonight we set up our NordicTrack treadmill for the first time, only to discover the stop button was missing so it won't work until we order another one plus the handle bar on one side is cracked and needs repair!

The part I forgot to mention… they quoted us one price which we paid up front, and then they charged us MORE… actually THREE TIMES AS MUCH when the move was completed! Unbelievable!

Note to people moving.

1. Get a MOVING COMPANY not a broker.... Golden tells you (actually insists) they are a mover when actually they are a broker.

2. Make them come out to see what you have before they write your quote and talk to them about what the REAL price is… not the cheap price they give you to get your business.

3. Figure out a way to look through ALL YOUR STUFF before the insurance claim deadline is over because after that you pay for their errors.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $31000

I moved from Virginia to Georgia. When I initially hired them, the price was $2200, however when they loaded everything onto the truck, it became over $4000 (not including tips). My stuff arrived a week late, almost all of my furniture was damaged and 3-4 of my boxes were missing and replaced by someone else's stuff. It has taken months to actually contact someone in the company who will speak with me and there is no sign of my missing items. I tried to find whose stuff I had and they wouldn't even acknowledge the items despite all of the documentation I had. Total damages are over $6000. Almost five months on in this fight, I still have not received my money. I can't afford court.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4200

I'm usually not the type of person to write reviews, but GVL certainly deserves some attention. I was in an extremely stressful situation with my family, as we were moving from Long Island to Brooklyn. One of my friends had a cousin who just started up a new moving company, and they recommended that I use them. GVL handled my move with efficiency, dedication, and perfect care. It was the first time I've ever used a company to move too far, and it certainly won't be the last time. John helped me exponentially while I was on the phone with him. The move occurred on Monday, a couple of weeks ago. The crew arrived to my home, and I showed them where I wanted my items to go. During the moving of the items into the van, it started raining a bit outside. Thankfully, the movers decided not to continue, and they took a break for about an hour. After the rain subsided, the packing took a bit of time, but none of my items were damaged. The crew decided to pack up a bunch of my fragile stuff for free. The next day, the move commenced. It took approximately 3 hours to get to Brooklyn. The move went smoothly from then on. GVL truly has helped me and my family tremendously while moving with them. Truly flawless!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $850

I had a bit of a dilemma which required me to move across the country with short notice. I had to do my research and find myself a moving company that can accommodate my last minute booking, while falling within my budget. I’ve heard many horror stories about moving, and I was NOT going to be another victim to this.

I came across Golden Van Lines through a shot in the dark search, and I took my chances as my time was limited and these moving companies were all getting booked up due to the end of the month. I called and I was welcomed with a down-to-earth sales manager named Mitch, and he was like a moving wizard. He was more focused on educating me and walking me through the moving process so that I can understand better, while also giving me room to make a decision. The price was super fair and the movers came as promised on the day and time they mentioned. They packed all my stuff real well, blankets and all so that my furniture would not see the outside world.
All my items were packed tightly and all my boxes were labeled to make sure none of the items got mixed up.

As promised, they arrived to my new location with no delay, and un-loaded my furniture and assembled them in the places I asked them to. The crew genuinely enjoyed helping me settle I to my new path of life. Everything about this move couldn’t have gone better. Friendly, down-to-earth salesman acted as my personal concierge throughout the entire move and was super helpful along the entire process.

If I have another move, I know who i’m calling. Golden Van Lines, thank you so much for helping me!

Just recently moved from Texas to Maryland using Golden Vanlines and they really saved me so much pain and suffering. I've had such bad experiences with previous moving companies and these dudes have really made it clear that moving can be painless and sometimes even fun! Spent 3 days talking to Elvin and he helped me set up my move care free, he even gave me a free quote!! Took around 1 and a half days for the movers to take my stuff to Maryland, went by flawlessly. These guys have like this thing to them, they do it with such passion it's really awesome!! They unloaded my stuff into my new apartment which took them around an hour. Honestly the best move I've ever had. Please use these guys I really recommend them!!

I am certainly pleased with Golden Van Lines because they took a huge amount of stress out of my life. I have lived in New York and worked in the entertainment industry pretty much my whole life, and when a job I have been chasing for years opened up in Los Angeles the biggest issue in my life was that I had less than 2 weeks to get to LA. I was put in touch with GVL and they assured me I had nothing to worry about. They were correct. Within a week of booking my move there was a truck outside my home with 4 men ready to move me. My belongings arrived on the west coast 9 days later. I went out to get the movers a pizza and some Gatorade and by the time I got home my house was staged with furniture in the correct rooms. Made my life so much easier. Not to mention this job I’ve finally landed is a paid internship and it doesn’t pay much so obviously cost was a factor in my decision and Golden had the best value of any company I spoke with. I was worried that the price could change based on things I’ve heard about moving companies, but my representative Jeff told me if I don’t add inventory last minute the price won’t change. So I didn’t add any inventory last minute, and the price stayed the same. Great work all around and a big thank you to everyone involved!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2789

Spoke with a representative and told him in detail the amount of furniture I needed moved, and received assurances I would be adequately taken care of. Not being a Logistics expert myself, once we determined the amount of furniture and after several assurances that they would all be delivered, I agreed, with no knowledge whatsoever of cubic footage actual sizes, to use them as my carrier. On the day of shipping, when push came to shove, not only did they not accept all the furniture they had agreed to, they insisted it was my fault; seeing how I'm no expert in what cubic footage actually amounts in actual size, I didn't know how much of my belongings would fit. I'm left with several boxes and items of furniture that haven't been picked up or delivered, and have in fact been charged as a result an additional $800 for going over the allocated amount. The lack of a customer-centric approach or care from the manager after initially receiving stellar service before the agreement was made is alarming.

Golden Van Lines was recently used to move from Virginia to North Carolina, it was NOT a good experience. This move was not for me, but a family member and I was handling the financial end. The salesman told me he would be available until 10 p.m. for any questions or concerns, that was inaccurate. The moving estimate increased by over $800 due to increased cubic feet. The estimate was for 339 cubic feet and they increased it to 500 cubic feet. That's a difference of 161. Golden Van Lines did the packing, mistake on our part. Cubic feet can change depending on how items are packed and this was a 1 bedroom apartment. Do you know how many cubic feet you would use? Items were broken and some items missing all together on delivery. I am in a different state when the move occurred and requested information for a wire transfer {routing number, financial institutions name} no one called back. Was told by one person do not pay until I call you. No one called, once again. On the day of pick up, my family member and myself questioned the increase and was told "we can unload everything and put it back into the apartment". The delivery was as bad as the pick up. Not sure if this is common practice with moving companies not to go to the residence to make an estimate/quote. If it is beware the cost can or will increase. The original estimate was $1,474 it increased to $2,308. Would not recommend this company.

This company has lied and provided me a contract that was FAKE to get me to hire them for the moving services that I needed. They collected the deposit and from that point on nothing that was promised to me was satisfied. Pick up was on 11/2 when I signed a contract to have pick up on 10/30 or 10/31. Once all my items were in the truck they said I went over the original quoted space on the truck and charged me an additional $1700. The crew that picked up insisted that I paid in cash and tip them over 200 so I could get mover labor discount.
The manager/ owner whom said his name was Ray is RUDE, CARELESS and DISRESPECTFUL! Once they have your personal items they control the situation 100% and could care less to help you.
My items were delivered on 11/6 when I was originally told and promised to receive them between 11/04 and 11/05 and to make matters worse they left behind the side bed rails that are unique to my bed and the “manager” ray could care less. Told me that I can file
A claim with their insurance department and hang up on me! HORRIBLE SERVICE!! I do not know how this company is still in business. I will not rest until they pay for all the paid and suffering they have put me threw and I this company goes out of business! They are the worse.. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR LIES.

My sister was making a boot Big Move Atlanta Georgia. Record around two different moving companies what prices we didn't know what we were going to do. Until Jeff from Golden State Line reach back out to us he said he can get us a good deal it was a deal that's couldnt be beat. She signed the contract sent Jeff the deposit. That was it can never get in touch with Jeff again called the company numerous times before we finally got in touch with the supposed manager who said they will be out on 10/31 to pick up her belongings.They never showed up or called. We called them again they assured us they will be out on 11/2 which day should were.The driver who said he was the supervisor just kept telling us to make sure we take care of them what's a good tip and to pay with cash. So we did after everything was in the truck and closed up he came in with the contract and said we went over the square footage and charges three times the amount of the original contract. This was mind blowing we couldn't see how it went ove. It really wasn't a lot of stuff it was one bed with one dresser on chase chair, entertainment stand and 2 TVs about 15 boxes and the dining room table and 4 chairs. So with our backs against the wall and all the furniture in a truck you have to go along with it. Then the next day it's supposed manager calls and says he's not delivering any furniture until she pay more money than the original deposit and half of the regular contract that she had paid. They wanted 2500 to send the furniture. With much negotiating he says he will send the furniture the payment will be due when the truck is 30 min away. Drop off was set up for 11/5 they called tgat morning saying the will not be there until 11/6. Now trucks here they are unloading everything but can't put the bed back togther cause it was missing the bed rails that go to her bed. They were the ones that took the better part they were the ones that packed the bed rails and now we can't even put a bed together. Got in contact with the supposed manager again he was very rude told her to file an insurance claim and hung the phone up. What a professional way to handle your business but then again we're talking about a company that gets over on people loses their stuff and then thinks it's the customers fault. What a headache I would not recommend this company to anybody matter of fact they to put out of business.

Moving from DC to Buffalo, NY - Golden Van Lines seemed too good to be true. It was.

They quoted me under $2,200 and a pick up day with delivery the next day. They arrived at my house, loaded up the truck, and changed the quote to $6,500! My inventory was spot on (actually over estimated boxes), and they claimed I was using more of the truck.

They came almost a week later and almost everything was broken. China smashed, beds missing pieces, a sofa dropped out of the moving truck.

The kicker? I had to pay them almost $3,000 in cash or they wouldn't unload my things! It was every photo of my children, every piece of jewelry of my wife. We had no choice.

When I complained about drop off, they said to file an insurance claim. NINE EMAILS LATER - no insurance information.

DO NOT USE. DO NOT USE.

Please read the reviews first. We all have the same experience. They quote a price and when they come to your house the triple the quote. They will come in a 50 FT wheeler to deliver and will tell you the truck will not fit in front of your house and will not deliver. The drivers and dispatcher are rude and will give you an attitude. If you complaint they will ruin your stuff. They ruined all my antiques and all my furniture and TV's. They charged me $75 for my TV and did not even installed them. Do not trust Richard Larusso nothing that he promise is true. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and believe all of you should do it too. I do not want to see another victim of this company scam.

These fraudulent movers scammed my boyfriend who was moving from Philly to ATL. They charged him an extra $500 to move his belongings into a smaller truck because they wanted to park a big a** truck on a small one-way block in Philadelphia. Then once he got to ATL there was another set of movers (now we're not even dealing with the original movers) who wanted to charge him an additional $300 for the same exact thing which is ridiculous. Once the stuff got to the house, his 65 inch tv was cracked, nightstand tables are all broke, patio furniture was missing,

Screws/tools to put the dining room table back together missing, and they kept bringing in other people furniture into the house. They didn't even label whose stuff is whose. They were so unprofessional. It was never explained that there would be another moving company involved and these original movers PROMISED that they were going to be handling the entire move and making sure he got his things. OH, I FORGOT TO MENTION, he didn't get his things until a day later. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE IN JAIL. We'll see yall in court!!

I moved from VA to CA and on the phone, this company's sale rep was extremely kind and helpful, and quoted me at an excellent price for such a far move. However, the movers who went to pick up my furniture in VA were immediately rude extremely disrespectful and their primary goal was to get more money. At pickup, the mover wanted to increase my payment more than double what I was originally quoted at. He was rude, stating things such as "Ma'am, this is a long move so we need money". He also wanted an additional $900 for the time it took to load (which was only about 40 minutes), even though we had to wait for them to get back from going to get something to eat immediately after they arrived because they were hungry. The gentleman was extremely unprofessional, cussing and complaining throughout the entire process.

Afterwards, I spoke with the manager who was equally unhelpful and unfortunately, I ended up paying several hundred dollars more than I originally agreed to.

At drop-off, every piece of furniture I had sent out had damage to it. Trying to get into contact with their claims department has proven to be near impossible.

If you have the option, do not go with this company. They quote you at a reasonable price to start but every single aspect of it they will try to charge you more, outrageous fees for every thing that they do from packing the truck, placing moving blankets, gas, unloading into our home, and many more- all which was agreed to previously). The fact that they employ such unprofessional workers also does not speak highly of them as a reputable organization.

Go with a company that is honest and upfront, as this one certainly was not.

Ray and Golden Van Lines are scammers. 1. Movers extorted me for $800 at pick up. This was after arriving over a day late. 2. The agreed upon delivery window was not met. 3. I was overcharged again at drop off. 4. They were not communicative at all throughout the process. 5. I was promised a refund for a portion of the funds I was overcharged by the owner of the company, Ray. But the check never came in the mail as promised.

DO NOT USE. Choose LITERALLY ANY OTHER MOVING COMPANY.

As others stated- original price agreed upon was changed on moving day. A new estimator jacked it up $2000. Delivery not when promised. Delivered to a storage facility and thrown in haphazardly. All my furniture scratched and damaged. Things broken and hidden from us. Totally unprofessional and liars. I plan to sue. Can’t even fix the damage to my beautiful furniture-my husband gave them sheets of cardboard to protect and they didn’t use it- just stacked cardboard to side and piled stuff on my previously perfect condition dining room table and china cabinet. So upset.

Golden Van lines Provided us with a quote over the phone for packing and moving. We hadn’t moved in 30 years- we thought that the phone quote was good. The moving day was the day before the closing on the house -by the time the packing was finished the amount being charged was almost double what the quote was. So my first suggestion is that if you do use them get someone out to your house to do a quoteAnd then hold them to that number. Check and see how the boxes are labeled so you have some recourse when your boxes do not arrive at your location. Buy as much insurance as you can because you’ll need it – several of our boxes were lost and a lot of our stuff came damaged. When trying to rectify the situation with them after the move we got no satisfaction. We were told to just go ahead and deal with the insurance. We ended up paying a lot of money for an out-of-state move but I would pay more than next time to ensure that all of my things arrived in one piece . The men that did the actual moving were very nice-however the packers were very vocal about wanting tips.I would not ever use golden again nor would I suggest anyone else to.

Move from New York to Tennessee, initial cost was going to be around $2500 and we were told the truck would be there when we got there. It ended up costing $4000 and it took 3 1/2 weeks to get our things. When the truck finally showed up, the movers were not wearing masks and one of them would not stop hitting on me. While moving in our things they attempted to give us an old/disgusting mattress that was clearly not ours. After quite a bit of back and forth, they finally admitted to leaving our bed back in NJ. A nice bookshelf was completely ruined, and a box containing a set of dishes was shattered. Additionally, because our things sat in a warehouse for almost a month, the couch and loveseat smelled quite nasty. I attempted to talk things over with them and nothing seemed to help.

Unless you want to sleep on an air mattress for weeks and pay exuberant amounts of money...do not use this moving company.

I used this company for a move from Philadelphia to DC and it was a horrible experience. They quoted us $2200 originally, which then went up to $3600 when they called us the day before the move to confirm a pickup time. At that point it was too late to find a new moving company so we had to agree to that new price. After packing up the truck they said we had too much stuff, so they charged another $1200. They were supposed to drive our stuff to our new place a few days later, and did not call to confirm the day before. I was calling them again and again trying to get a time that they would be dropping off our stuff and nobody answered the phone. They did not show up on the agreed upon day. They called and scheduled a new drop off day one day later. When they came to our new place, the movers were rude and pushy, and refused to wear a mask even though it was building policy. They were rude to the man at the front desk who asked them to wear a mask. And they charged us an extra $100, for our door being over 75 feet from where they were unloading the truck. So a $2400 quote turned into a $4900 move in the end. And we were moving just into a small 1br apartment. All in all this was a horrible experience. I would rather rent a uhaul and move all of my stuff on my own then work with this company again. DO NOT USE THEM.

A terrible moving company for any kind of move. We got partnered up with them for a long distance move and it was the worst move of our life. Extremely unprofessional, tardy and unreliable. For our drop off they sent one person to unload everything. They gave us no notice that someone will be coming. The driver was nice enough to call at 10PM on a Friday night. He got there the next day at 5PM and unloaded everything by 3AM in the morning. Packing was horrible, stuff was damaged and everything was covered in dust. This is a terrible moving company.
