Dougherty Brothers: 1) divided our belongings between two small trucks loaded on two different days; 2) overcharged us without justification; 3) did not produce any inventory of our belongings that were loaded onto the truck; 4) “forgot the paperwork for the move at the warehouse” the second day of the move; 5) refused to allow us to speak with anyone at Dougherty Brothers aside from one customer service representative; 6) broke and damaged nearly every item of furniture that was in any way delicate that we had paid them to wrap, protect and secure. Movers came and agreed on price and inVentory before loading. After loading truck half way, foreman stated weighed too much and wouldn’t take the load, but would take what was loaded at the agreed price, which was half the goods. The foreman unloaded the truck and left due to weight, not contract inventory. Dougherty brothers refused to refund deposit, stating contract states cubic feet and I cancelled after truck loaded. Really. The foreman stated it weighed too much after loading and refused to take load. He didn’t know that before hand when he agreed the inventory was accurate? Customer service was notified during event and now refuses to take calls or return calls or provide management contacts. Refused to return my deposit. The truth is in the so called recorded phone conversations with customer service rep Clinton with me and the foreman.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5500

I wanted to find the best possible carrier that could accommodate our needs. Our move was sort of a pain because we had to have our storage unit moved with our furniture from our home on the same day on a weekend. We hired Dougherty Brothers Moving and the sales agent listened attentively to our requests and assigned a carrier out of Houston. I am happy to say they did a fantastic job and everything went like a breeze for us! I don't think I can say that for the crew, because we have some really heavy antique furniture!! haha. We really appreciate your team and the crew members for all of your hard work!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6700

Had a last minute need for a move from Northern California to Las Vegas, due to quick move in request from buyers of our home. Got a referral from my agent in Las Vegas for Dougherty Brothers Moving.

After a quick phone call to describe my inventory and the details about our move, David gave me a very reasonable estimate, and was able to add the additional packing requirements that we had requested.

The day of our move, the carrier arrived about 10 minutes late, but it was understandable as it was just around rush hour at the time and the traffic is horrendous. They didn't waste any time getting to work once they pulled in. They divided and conquered the items in the house, and in a couple hours had everything wrapped up, disassembled where necessary, and ready to go. Both guys were super respectful.

After our experience with Dougherty Brothers Moving and their carriers, not only were they reasonably priced, but they definitely left us with a positive vibe also. We will definitely be using them again.

We booked our move with Dougherty Brothers back in February for our move in August. I originally spoke with David and we are very satisfied with his service ever since February he has checked in about once a month through email and by phone a few times. He worked with us when we had to push back our original move dates due to closing delays. Dougherty Brothers did a fantastic job at coordinating every detail with the carrier and keeping everybody on the same page and up to date all the way up to delivery day. We had such a good experience working with Dougherty Brothers and we thank you for your kindness and professionalism!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3250

These guys are so awesome. We had a quite difficult pickup situation because we moved from a highrise building in Chicago with very tight corners (didn’t help that we have a humongous sectional that the movers had to take) but everything went extremely well considering the circumstances. It did take longer than I planned for at pickup but they had to take apart our dining table and the sectional in order to fit everything through the doors. Luckily they don’t charge per hour and we were only charged for the size of our shipment. Dougherty Brothers prepared us for move day with loads of information on emails and phone calls (which I very much appreciate as I am a very organized and maticulous person) and they selected and excellent carrier for the job. Luckily they checked ahead of time with our building to make sure they had the proper level of insurance required for the job, I didn’t know until afterwards but if they had not done that the office would not have let the movers into the building. Dougherty Brothers Moving is extremely thorough and we are very grateful! This is a true 5-star company!!

Dougherty Brothers Moving and their carriers were considerate and professional and they were careful with my items. I am a busy person and I appreciate the honesty of the phone support agents to prepare me for pickup day. They made it clear that the estimate they gave me wouldn't be the final cost because it is just an estimate. That was the reason I booked with them because I spoke to 3 others companies and none of them told me that. DBM wasn't the cheapest quote I got but honesty goes a long way. The estimate wasn't off by much but my final cost did go up by about $200 because I forgot a few things on the quote. No complaints from me, everything went as smooth as it could have gone.

When I first called DBM I thought they were a truck rental agency. I wasn't looking for a full service but I figured it wouldnt hurt to get a quote anyways. My uhaul would have been over $5000 and DBM came in at $5600 for full service loading and unloading and driving! Through a happy accident I hired them for something that would probably cost me the same to do myself after I paid for gas for the truck. I would highly recommend DBM especially in California where the rental truck rates are outrageous right now. Do yourself a favor and go full service like I did!

WORST move ever in our 56 years of marriage! We've moved 17 times. In mid July, we contacted Doughtery Bros regarding the above move. From initial contact up to the moving date, we communicated by phone, emails and photos to determine the best/accurate estimated total cubic feet/weight. At no point in time did Doughtery Bros enter our home to view the contents. The initial estimate was $6,600 for the move and $425 for monthly storage. A few days before the move, their estimate was revised to approximately $10,500 and storage $700 per month.

Doughtery Bros then contracted with "Moving Mania Inc" to do the actual move on 08/26/21. Moving Manias' crew chief immediately inventoried the contents and then called his boss to discuss his findings. Their concern was that the truck they brought would not be large enough. I spoke with Leo, the boss and the crew chief regarding their concern and they concluded that all would fit in the truck so the move would continue. "What choice did we have, the experts said it could be done!?" Some additional packing costs was agreed to and now the total cost would be $11,830.00 and $1,200 per month storage!!! GUESS WHAT!?The truck was not large enough and they had to come back for an additional $1,530.00!!

It is now obvious, Moving Mania Inc never kept Dougherty in the loop and being elderly we were focused on the moving taking place that day. When the fog of the move cleared, we called Doughtery Bros and asked to be remimbursed for the additional $1,530.00 for the second truck! They did the Pontius Pilot bit and washed their hands!!!

The fact that we went from $6,600 for the move and $450 per month storage to $13,300 ($1,200 1st month storage and $900 for a few days the following month). Two many "RED FLAGS" which have been documented will be turned over to the following government agencies Bureau of Households & Services, IRS, FMCSA and Fl Dept of Agriculture and Customer Services.

They were the highest quote we got out of the 5 or 6 different companies we spoke to but not by much. We felt more comfortable after speaking with David and going over a detailed list of what we have. Only 1 other company asked us for that list but they had a lot of complaints so we landed on Dougherty Brothers. They were pretty close to the final cost from the original estimation and the service was good from the pickup and delivery crew. In hindsight I should have done the free storage option with them because we ended up having to rent a storage unit anyways for a few weeks when our house was getting last minute renovations. Dougherty Brothers is awesome and I will probably use them again someday.

If I could give zero stars I would. I booked my move with Dougherty Brothers in early June for an end of July move. They called me numerous times (an annoying amount of times) to re-confirm my inventory. One week before my move I was asked to provide measurements for common items (dresser drawer, couch, table) and also removed items from my move list that I decided not to take with me. I was informed the Friday before my move that now my estimate was increasing $500 (because of the size of my items, even AFTER removing several large items from the list.) When I asked for a clearer explanation on the increase in costs, the moving associate was rude and argumentative. I had a terrible feeling about the move going forward but since I was since I was days away I felt I was stuck with the company. The day before my move was scheduled, I was called and called the carrier cancelled and there was nothing they could do to help me. So I have been forced to find another carrier (funny, I was able to find one same day but the moving broker couldn't) When I asked when my $2000.00 deposit would be refunded, I was told they couldn't give me that information but to email a generic info email address. When I asked for a billing phone number I was told there was none. Horrible and stressful experience during an already stressful period. I suggest looking elsewhere for your moving needs.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6500

DO NOT USE THIS FRAUD COMPANY. I called them with an urgent need to move across the country and was given an estimate that was within my means. I then gave them a deposit of $700 and was called sometime later to get a specific inventory and my final cost, which was over 250% higher than the original estimate. This was financially impossible for me and I had no choice but to cancel. They have now refused to refund my deposit because of their flimsy and corrupt business practices (you only have 72 hours to cancel, even if you don't have all the information needed in that time in order to cancel). They do not care. Do not use them and go elsewhere.
